I discivered McArthur Glen had opened in West Lothian in December 2000. It is a shopping centre with brand name shops at dicounted prices.
Since then I have been popping in there on a monthly basis and as time goes by more and more shops have been opening!
There are the Brand names like Gap, Marks and Spencers, Clarks shoes, Early Learning Centre, Prices Candles, Whittards, Calvin Klein jeans and more recently Burberry!
McArthur Glen is situated just off the M8 at Junction 3 in Livingston, West Lothian, near the Almondvale Shopping centre. The opening times are 10-6pm Mon-Wed, 10-8pm Thurs and 10-6pm Fri-Sun! There is a food court with Harry Ramsdens, McDonalds, Delifrance, Rollover Hotdog and Spud u Like upstairs along with the Circuit Cinema and there are a few Restaurants downstairs along with a couple of cafes such as Cafe Nero and Costa Coffee and the restaurants are Pizza Express, JD Wetherspoons and Ashoka Shak! So plenty places to eat and drink for a full days shopping trip!
The centre is clean and toilets are plentiful and clean too and you often see them being cleaned! The don't have paper towels in the toilets just hand driers!
The shops vary in size! Marks and Spencers is a large shop with lots of clothes and products from the previous season, while Jokids a clothes shop for children is quite small and cramped! Right in the middle of the centre is a huge shop area with lots of different shops sort of like a market. You can buy lots of homewear like bedding, towels, furniture, pots and pans, glasswear and dinner sets!
Car parking is plentiful with a 6 story car park with disabled and Parent and child spaces! There is also outdoor parking with plenty spaces too!
There are plenty of shops to interest all of the family with sports shops, clothes shops, toys shops and homewear shops!
I find that it is better to visit McArthur Glen either first thing in the morning at weekends or any week day outwith school holidays and school lunchtimes! It gets very busy with the local high school going there for lunch!
Now that I go there regularly I find I know exactly where I am going and shopping takes half the time now!
Coming to Scotland for a visit, you must take the opportunity to visit this shopping centre as part of your holiday as it will have you wanting to come back and look for more bargains!
