Im going to start off by telling you that i work for Mcdonalds and have done for the past 4 years. Ok the pay isn't amazing but at least there are some advantages of working there. Free food on your breaks when you work, discounted food when you visit, free health care after 3 years service, sick pay when your ill, 4 weeks holiday pay per year and coupons & vouchers for companys in connection with McDonalds.

I am not sitting here now writing this opinion to say how much better we are compared to restaurants like Burger King & KFC because i don't really care, i just work there.

So im going to try and tell you everthing you may wish to know about the restaurant.
Firstly, lets get it straight, no spitting in burgers goes on at all. I don't know how many times i have been asked that question but the truth of the matter is that it doesn't happen. Consider it from our point of view. How would we feel if we did that, knowing that someone we knew as a good friend was going to come in and eat it? Not very nice no doubt.

Another thing i keep getting asked is why we put Gherkins (pickles) in burgers?, well i dont know the answer to that question, i guess it's for extra flavour. I don't like them myself and i couldn't understand the logic behind the advert showing someone removing the pickles from thier burger. Anyway, some people like them so much that we even get requests for 'extra' pickles in burgers belive it or not. If you don't want them in your burger next time you visit, ask for 'no pickle'.

Something i have to admit is that the 'regular' burgers (used in Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers and Big Macs) are quite small and not filling, which is because they are mass produced as compressed meat. There is always the alternative of having a quarter pounder, which is noticably bigger in size.

Talking about size, one of the latest things we have introduced is the american style 'Super Size' meals, which we have only been doing for a few months. We have also seen permanent on the menu, bacon doubles with cheese, double quarter pounders and mega macs (4 pices of meat), with the later two being 'Mega' meals.

For those of you who wish to know exactly what goes on what, here is a guideline (in order of how they are dressed, note that all buns are toasted apart from fillet buns, which are steamed):

There is another issue that needs to be cleared up, i dont know whether you have seen the film 'Big Daddy', but breakfast finishes at 10:30am, not 11am.

If you are american, then you will notice a slight difference in Mcdonlads restaurants over there compared to here. For a start, we do not sell 'Root beer', so don't ask. We do not do refills of drinks, although this may be a possibility in the future, but we do however (not many people know this) allow refills of Coffee in the morning.

A new feature that has been introduced to a few restaurants now is the 'Express lane', so im going to explain how it works and how it makes fast food fast.
Normally you have to que for a while at busy periods, then you are served, you pay for your food and your meal is created for you (although sometimes you have to wait for some food if it is being freshly prepared). The express lane is different and offers less hastle. Firstly you will come to a till where there will normally be no que because it is moving continuously. Here, your order will be taken then you will move to the next till where you pay for your food and then finally to the counter, where you collect your meal, which SHOULD be waiting for you or at least brought to you within seconds. If it is not, then you have the right to complain.

I would now like to tell you about food quality. chicken, vegetable and fish products should not be held in the heating cabinet or draw for longer than 20 minutes, by that time it should then be thrown away or served straight away. No product should be held in the production bin for more than 20 minutes (mostly burgers). If the time has passed, then the food should be thrown away. This way all food remains as fresh as possible and by no means is any food (apart from pancakes) heated in the microwave.

Why happy meals are happy:
To me and you there probably isn't anything happy about a happy meal, but to a child, it is a whole new meaning. It is cheap for what you get, being the meal, a toy and currently a box of smarties. i'm sure this pleases most kids and that they look forward to having it, thats why all you parents out there get dragged into the place.
