McDonald's: I CAN LAUGH ABOUT IT NOW, BUT IT WASN'T FUNNY THEN!!!

Advantages: Frequently available job vacancies; meal allowance; choice of part-time, weekend and full-time wor
Disadvantages: Working environment can be terrible. Long hours can be exhausting.

Before I go on though, I want to issue the disclaimer that this is an account of the experience of working in ONE specific franchise of the company, among the very many in existence in Britain, not to mention the rest of the world.

...the meeting discoursed about the McDonalds work philosophy as well as the practical aspects of the job.

She then ran through a list of dos and don'ts of the job, with emphasis on hygiene and safety.

Immediately afterwards we were given a multiple choice questionnaire, covering verbatim, point for point, what we had just heard.

We had to complete it, and if we had enough right answers, we would be hired. ... more

I'm NOT lovin' it!

Advantages: The other employees!
Disadvantages: Pay, long hours, stress, customers, working conditions... must I continue?

...119 countries across the world, McDonalds as a company serves more than 50 million customers every single day. I started in McDonalds in October 2005, after visiting the restaurant and seeing that they were hiring new staff. I asked for an application form, filled it out and handed it in straight away. The application form itself was quite simple to navigate, asking the same homogenous questions that most employers seem to ask, such as previous employment, ...
...a week I had a phone call from the manager asking me to come into the store for an interview. It was again a simple interview, asking more what hours I could work rather than looking for personality traits. The main question was when could I start? So, I arrange a time to have an induction. This didn't take place in the store that I would be working at in Ryde (I.O.W) because it is a relatively small store with little room to interview people. In ...

McDonalds -----Same old Story

Advantages: Regular Perfomance review including pay increase, management opportunities
Disadvantages: Rude Customers, Lazy Management, long hours, lack of recognition

I first became employed in McDonalds store no 773 in August 1999 at just 16 years of age. I had just finished my GCSE's and needed to get a job to fund driving lessons etc. Both of my brothers had previously worked for McDonalds and although there were some bad points they always had a great social crowd from working there as they were all of the similar age, so I asked my brother to get me an Application Form. The form itself is pretty simple ...
...Definately not pleasant. Anyhow McDonalds worked for me I was in the sixth form and needed to be able to work shifts around school to enable me to gain a good wage as I was only 16 I was only allowed to work up until 11pm but was expected to start some weekends as early as 6am. The shifts were long and I found it unfair that smokers were given a fag break intermittenly during their shift as well as a 45 minute break where as the non smokers such ...

McDonalds

Advantages: Flexible Hours
Disadvantages: Small Pay

I worked in a McDonalds Restaurant in Newcastle for three years and contrary to what people might have experienced I personally loved it. I spent most of my time there on till or on the express till as I had the best speeds in the restaurant and I found the day went fast. I did the odd shift on dining area which I admit I did not enjoy. People go into places like McDonalds and have no respect for the restaurant, people have lettuce fights, leave ...
...deliberate! The training at McDonalds was good and the social life was amazing, there was always something going on and because most people were in the same age range you could relate to everyone. The crew room was quite large but struggled to fit the many staff in on a saturday it contained a television that only occasionally worked, the majority of the lockers were broken so a lot of personal items got stolen from the crew rooms. It was virtually ...

Advantages: Good Food, Good Salary, Friendly and Clean Atmospthere.
Disadvantages: Not really helpful in career prospects.

...area. Previously there was no McDonalds over here and i know a lot of friends of mine travelling 150 miles to another city to eat at McDonalds. Even I did that once. Now I can get to a McDonald restaurant in a 5 minute drive. It was full-packed and there were queues at the reception tables. There was a guard just at the enterance and 2 cleaning ladies walking around checking the tables. There was another cleaner mopping the floor every now and then. ...
...===Food=== The food in McDonalds is tasty. I love the McFish because its soft and tastier than the others. I love the cheese they use when its slightly warm. Their sauce is also good. They quality of bread buns they use are excellent. The fish cutlet is also tasty. The BigMac is very good as well. Kids dig it. I love it myself but not as much as MacFish. The McNuggets are amazing, mouth watering pieces of chicken breasts. Coke, Fanta and Sprite are ...

McDonalds to go!!!

Advantages: Start there from 16
Disadvantages: long hours, few weekends off, low pay

I worked in a McDonalds Restaurant in Bexhill from the day it opened until April 1993 which was actually only 3 years but seems like a life time. Anybody who goes into that job with the ’it an easy life attitude’ is in for a rude awakening because there are so many rules and regulations that have to be followed because food is involved that Managers have to do their jobs and come down hard with regard to Quality, Cleanliness and Service. I started ...
...People go into places like McDonalds and have no respect for the restaurant, the staff or other customers, they have lettuce fights, leave their trays covered in mess and spill drinks everywhere and leave it for somebody else to clear up which I am sure they would never do in other restaurants or at home. It is also amazing how rude customers can be - the attitude that the Customer is always right should be knocked on the head immediately as more ...

Best Dental School In Europe!

Advantages: Excellant environment and Teaching facilities.
Disadvantages: Alot is expected from the students!

is located in the Guys Hospital tower, on floor 18. The very practical thing about this is that from the second year onwards, students spend most their time in the guys tower and so to have a library so close saves them a lot of time and effort! Additionally, this library contains the majority of the books the student will require in their studies and therefore saves them from having to look for them amongst other not so relevant books. The other plus is the fact that because this library is specific to dentists, it is never overcrowded and one will always find a quiet spot to study. Cafes and restaurants are also very widely available not only on campus but also locally. I must say, I believe Guy's campus is the only campus on London to have a Mc Donald's on site! Tut Tut! Not very healthy huh? Other food areas on campus include ...

Review of London University King´s College

My University

Advantages: great place, great people
Disadvantages: new so still improving

the place looking clean (tidy depended on the mood of the residents). Cheltenham town has a high street full of shops and two shopping arcade centres (Regent Arcade and Beachwood). A lot of the shops do accept up to date NUS cards which is great as majority of the residents in Cheltenham are students. There are a number of restaurants ranging from fast food (e.g McDonalds) to fine cuisine (e.g The Real China) on and around the high street. You can also find bars (e.g Varsity, Vokda Revolutions) and clubs (e.g The Place (formerly known as Moda), Dakota) on and along the high street. Doctors and Dentist There is a hospital in Cheltenham (which I have not had to use yet) which provides a fairly good service (friends have been). For students at the University, you do not have to worry about signing up with a local doctor as you can ...
