My friends had been talking about this fabulous hairdressers in Dundee called McIntyres so I decided to book myself in for a cut and colour. They warned me to book in advance because it's a very busy hairdressers so I booked on the friday for the following Thursday and they fixed me up with their Design Consultant to discuss my colour. She discussed how often I had my hair coloured and how I wear it on a daily basis. With all my needs considered she came up with the idea of putting some streaks underneath a veil of dark brown hair so when it started to re-grow the roots wouldn't be so noticeable.
I was sitting relaxed with some coffee and magazines and they started to apply the dye to my hair. I'd opted for a combination of blonde highlights and red streaks with some natural brown in there for good measure. They were quite chatty and informative about different ways I could have my hair cut and how I could wear it when I went out.
About an hour later it was time to have my hair washed. This was the best part as I got to sit on a massage chair. I was given a control so I could adjust the height of the seat and also increase or decrease the pressure of the chair, it was fab!! I had a head massage and a conditioning treatment to seal in the colour and give the hair a good shine, this was at an extra cost of £7.
I was then offered a glass of wine to pass the time, how could I refuse. They had a choice of red or white and I went for the white, 3 glasses later and I was almost done.
The red in my hair was much brighter than I'd expected but the overall effect was great. The cost was a little more than I was used to paying, I was £91.50 for my hairdo and the most I've paid before was about £70 in my local salon, however I felt the experience was worth it.
I'd thoroughly recommemd this hairdressers to anyone looking to treat themselves to something a little bit special.
Advantages: trendy modern cuts Disadvantages: rude arrogant snotty staff
My mum, sister and I have been going to both the Union Street and Perth Road salons for at least ten years. I highly recommend the Union Street salon - although the salon is tired looking and needing refurbished, I have always had a good experience and the staff have been friendly. My mum has been told by snotty staff that she looked like 'mutton dressed as lamb' and my sister has on a few occasions felt intimidated and embarressed after being told ... ...spends £100 every month on mcintyre haircuts and their products!!!!!! haha. Try to avoid the Perth Road salon if you can, the staff are invariably rude, and snotty and stuck up with attitude. Wether this is because they never seem to be supervised and it is young girls 'running the shop' without the supervision of Kay McIntyre I am not sure. I have always had a good hair cut and color from Union Street and everytime Ive gone to the Perth Road one ...
