WHOSE A LEMON THEN?

Advantages Ginger flavour
Disadvantages lack of lemon flavour
Upon closer inspection I saw the word ‘Lemon and Ginger’ in not too big writing. Remembering I write for ciao I decided I had to try them. So I paid my money which was about 60p (though I’m not totally sure)
At home it wasn’t long before I couldn’t resist the temptation any more, and ignored the thoughts of my Diabetic nurse nagging me when I showed her my daily food diary. Still I didn’t HAVE to put it down and she would never know… (Except the fact I’m far too honest for that). I also examined the pack closer and noticed a little difference. Apart from the new sign, there is actually a faint picture of a lemon on the pack. The biscuit looked like a normal McVities digestive with the exception of a few pieces of what I assume was lemon stuck strategically inside the biscuit. They were also lighter in colour than what I would normally expect of McVities Digestives. The biscuits have a wheat stalk ‘carved’ out of the biscuit too, and the word McVities is there too.
Taking my first bite I was rather disappointed: it didn’t taste like either: lemon, ginger or a normal McVities digestive. I dunked the biscuit in my tea sitting beside me and took a bite: Still nothing extraordinary, and still nothing unique. My second biscuit proved a different kettle of fish though. Now at least I could taste the ginger, but still no lemon taste whatsoever which disappointing. The ginger becomes stronger the more you eat, and to be honest a ginger nut is far better – you get the crunch too with those. With this soft biscuit it just wasn’t right.
The lemon flavour failed to materialise at all, and if the little bits of what I assume to be lemon weren’t in the biscuit – I would never have known they contained such flavour.Mean while health wise per 100 gram you can expect to consume the following food values: 490 calories, 68.3g carbohydrates, 18.6g Sugar, 21.1g fat, 9.8g saturated, So perhaps not the healthiest biscuit around.
Overall:Personally I will not be buying these again as I prefer the normal digestive biscuit. McVities digestives used to be a solid, soft and dunk-able biscuit. Yet these new ones seemed to have been made on the cheap, and the quality of the biscuit is far less than what you’d expect from McVities. I haven’t had McVities ordinary digestives for a while so I can only hope they haven’t gone cheap too. The lemon taste is totally Non-Existent; meanwhile the ginger flavour gradually gets stronger and stronger: All together not a desirable biscuit. You’ll also notice that the biscuits are paler in colour than normal digestives, which does nothing for its ‘appeal’ either.
Not recommended for flavour, texture, quality or anything else. Thanks for reading – Dave

despite loving both ginger and lemon, I hated these! Too salty, too dry, and tasteless - fusty? yes. A good one to MISS out of the barrel - ♥ - jes ≈≈≈≈{; -)-{{::::: |||||<

Nice op. I don't think I'll be rushing out to buy a pack though.
These are not what you expect with the great name of McVities on them. Dissapointing to say the least. Great op.
