I love Mcvities milk chocolate digestives but I only buy them very rarely as a special treat because I want to keep slim! I am also a major caramel fan so I found this combination very appealing. However, although I had seen packets of these biscuits at Tesco months before, I was never that tempted to buy them because for more that £1 it seemed very little value for money as the packet is relatively small - only 300 grams. ...airtight container (which is what Mcvities recommend so maybe the biscuits are just like that!), as I do not like eating very cold biscuits!
I did like the taste of the biscuits but the high fat and calorie content put me off. Each biscuit contained a whopping 80 calories, 3.7g of fat of which 1.9g was saturated! I bought these about six weeks ago from Tesco and I though I was lucky enough to get the last packet. They were on special offer - half price to £0.56 and I wanted to review them only when I had finished the whole packet - which trust me did not take very long! The packaging is pretty standard for Mcvities, although they did emphasis the word 'caramel' in an attractive gold curly font. However, as they were on offer, I gave them a try and they are fairly yummy but I probably will not be buying them again.
The first biscuit I tried was pretty good, the layer of caramel was not too thick and I did not have to keep chewing the biscuit to be able to swallow it. I have quite sensitive teeth and caramel can play havoc with my back teeth but these biscuits were very easy and pain-free to eat. I thought the balance between chocolate and caramel was just right but as I munched my way through the packet, I found the biscuits to be pretty dry and not very flavoursome. About halfway through eating the packet (I did not eat the packet all in one sitting!), I felt I was eating the biscuits for just the sake of finishing the packet and because I wanted a bit of chocolate and was not too bothered about what the biscuit really tasted like. I'm afraid I can not comment on how the biscuits tasted dipped in tea or coffee because I really drink hot drinks.
As I tried to get more biscuits out of the packet, it became increasingly difficult. The caramel had seeped out of the chocolate coating, and the biscuits especially from the middle of the packet were stuck together and I often had to break biscuits just to separate them. However, this may have been because I did not put the biscuits in the fridge but they were stored in a cool, airtight container (which is what Mcvities recommend so maybe the biscuits are just like that!), as I do not like eating very cold biscuits!

Once I had had two biscuits, I wished I had eaten a packet of Maltesers instead, which would only have been about 40 calories extra and I would have felt more satisfied and full up. Mcvities recommend keeping active on the packet and offer a link to a healthy lifestyle website www.123healthybalance.com. However, I think that the best way to avoid putting on weight is simply to avoid these biscuits!
Overall, I think for half price they were reasonable value for money but at full price mcvities milk chocolate digestives are better, bigger and less crumbly. I really did not like having to struggle to separate biscuits and the taste of the biscuits wasn't exactly exceptional. Rather, they were pleasant but not additive or very moreish. My family tried the biscuits but I was the one who ate the majority of the packet because I was told they were too soft and there was not enough caramel. I think if you have a chocolate biscuit craving, stick to the original milk chocolate Mcvities and which ever brand you prefer!

...and in Tesco's bought some McVities milk chocolate caramel biscuits, they cost me £1.09 for a 300g packet.
McVities have been making biscuits for years and years and years over 100 years. McVities in now one of united biscuits brands. The digestive biscuit is very popular as a plain biscuit , in 1925 the first mc vities chocolate covered biscuit was produced since then there has been many additions to this range in 1999 the chocolate caramel covered ... ...They are unmistakable with the McVities logo emblazoned across the packet which is half the traditional Cavities blue with a golden yellow swirly stripe length ways across the packet then the chocolaty brown colour the other side with the word caramel written in that golden caramel colour.
Ok So I am at home and to indulge myself after a busy week at work I open the pack, easy it has that pull strip around it. First I look at it , it's a bit smaller ...

...way through a pack of McVities Chocolate Caramel Digestives.
Mcvities have been making biscuits since...well it seems like forever. However, they've only been making these particular biccies since 1999. So much for a brief synopsis of the manufacturer.
You can buy these fellas in pretty much any shop (although I can't say I've ever seen them in a jewellers) and you can expect to pay around 1 of your British quids for the privilege. As for the packaging, ... ...think I read somewhere that Mcvities were promoting these in some kind of Great British Dunk nonsense. Possibly this might be because without saturating them in hot, wet tea or coffee, they're inedible.
Actually, they don't taste too bad. All the treacly, molasses type flavours come through from the biscuit base; the caramel hints at rich toffee, and the chocolate is...well the chocolate (what there is of it) is average.
In conclusion, I've maybe ...

Advantages: Just delicious Disadvantages: calories but who cares
McVities chocolate caramel digestives are one of my favourites when I am able to obtain a packet that is. They do appear every so often on the shelves at ASDA but otherwise they are extremely hard to find, but are indeed worth the search.
When available they retail at around £1.00 per 300g which is not bad value considering there are a fair few of these little beauties in each packet. They do not look that much different than ordinary choc digestives ... ...and probably in the region of .25 inches thick, and it is the thickness that is important here since this is where the caramel is hidden. The packaging is nothing spectacular but it is quite bright and might attract an eye or two on a supermarket shelf. It is mainly dark blue in colour with a flash of a caramel colour running across the center. On the bottom right hand side of the packaging is a picture of a chocolate digestive with the addition ...

Finger Licking good :D
What delicious entities that have been created through the thorough handling of science.
They dont look to intimidating on the self, that much has the be said. But when you pick them up and feel them, they have a nice hefty weight to them which is always a positive thing ^_^. Dont know about you, but im tired of all these "light" refreshments that taste foul due to "low fat" and are so light you can eat a whole packet.

Now onto the most important thing: Taste.
I shall recieve a ton of death threats over my next statement but it needs to be said, to put me in the right......eh.....camp?
"I HATE digestive buscuits". They are foul loathsome things. They taste foul, sit heavy on you and basically make me want to throw up.
Thus its a bit of a mystery as to why I like these. They ...

Advantages: Tasty, good value Disadvantages: Caramel layer is a little thin
When I was in my local supermarket looking for treats for the kids I came across these new biscuits from McVitie's. The packaging was easy on the eye and they looked nice (very tempting). A caramel and chocolate digestive biscuit.... yum yum I thought.
After putting away all my other messages i put the kettle on and got comfy with my new biscuits and a cup of tea in front of the TV. My first bite didn't have me to impressed so I dipped it into the ... ...action made it nice and soft and made my taste buds tingle. I had to have more.
The chocolate and carmel mix well together when dipped and the biscuit topped it of for me as I like a digestive all ready with out the chocolate and carmel.
These tasty biscuits can be bought at most grocers and supermarkets for just over a pound and they are good value for money. They are tasty and I really enjoy the blend of biccy, milk chocolate and caramel. You ...

Advantages: ?????????? Disadvantages: Tampering with Tradition is not always good

Anyway onto McVitie's Milk Chocolate and Orange Digestives, when McVitie's released the Milk Chocolate and CaramelDigestives I was initially skeptical, I even stated that they had tampered with the untamperable. I was soon proven wrong as they had produced the most awe-inspiring digestive biscuit ever.
With this knowledge I approached the McVitie's Milk Chocolate and Orange Digestives with less caution and at 99p trial price who could blame me. The biscuit is the same digestive that we all know and love the only difference is the orange milk chocolate topping, which is as thick and luxuriant as ever.
This is where my lack of caution was ill advised I was expecting the same wonderful taste sensation that you got with the Milk Chocolate and CaramelDigestives, I was wrong. the chocolate is of high ...

Introduction

It was a Friday afternoon and I knew that I needed a chocolate fix. So on my way home from work I decided to call in the local shop to see what was on their shelves. After browsing over all the regular chocolate bars and none were taking my fancy and I was just about to leave when these little darlings caught my eye.
A golden pack was calling to me and I could see through part of the wrapper to see the chocolate-coated things inside. The packet said they were McVitiesCaramelDigestive Shortcakes; I like the McVities products so. I made my purchase and continued home.
The Taste
Inside the pack are two slices waiting to be eaten. There is a very nice chocolate and caramel smell. I shall take a bite, the chocolate, caramel and biscuit is not hard and breaks with very little effort ...
Advantages: Orange and chocolate combined...wonderful! Disadvantages: They seem a bit drier and crumblier than normal chocolate digestives
when the CaramelChocolateDigestive appeared and offered a slightly more decadent choice and the recent introduction of McVitie's Milk Chocolate and Orange Digestives to the market provides even more of a decision to be made.
I'm not someone with much of a sweet tooth, so biscuits aren't usually a part of my regular shopping. On the rare occasion I do indulge myself, I prefer the plain chocolatedigestives to the milk chocolate ones. That said, I'm a big fan of citrus fruits, so when I first laid eyes on these new biscuits, I just had to give them a try.
Surprisingly for a biscuit, there's a whiff of orange, although you do need to have your nose pretty close to the biscuit to find it. But, let's face it; no-one buys a packet of biscuits just to sniff them, do they? If you are the kind of person that does that, and research has ...
