I bought Medal of Honour: Allied Assault (2 discs) for my boyfriend the very first day it came out, as he had been ranting on about it for ages. He had already played the game on the playstation and loved it so I knew it would be a good buy.

I payed 34.99 for it from Electronics Boutique and up to now I dont regret the buy at all as my boyfriend has been on it every single day and enjoying every minute of it (in fact he is playing on it right this minute).First of all I will tell you the minimum system requirements as there is no point in even buying the game if your PC is too slow:
  • OS: Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP.
  • Processor: 450MHz (Intel pentium 2).
  • Memory: 128MB RAM.
  • Hard Drive: 1.2 GB.
  • CD-DVD: 8 Speed.
  • Graphics: 16MB.
  • 3D Accelerator: OpenGL Compatible.
  • DirectX: Version 8.0.
  • Multiplayer: 1 CD per PC.
  • Network: TCP/IP Compliant (2-64 players).
  • Internet: 56.6Kbps (2-32 players).
  • Keyboard & Mouse.

After installing the game you will be taken to a map room (main menu) here you can:
  • Start a new game.
  • Load a saved game.
  • Visit the briefing room.
  • Start or join a multiplayer game.
  • Options.
  • Quit.

In order to start a new game just click new game which will take you to a briefing room. Here you can also choose to take the training missions which I strongly suggest you do to get the hang of the controls and basic gameplay needed to play. When you start a new game you will need to choose the difficulty level you wish to start on, choose from:

*Easy.
Health packs are stronger and enemies are easier to kill.

*Medium.
Health packs are harder to find and enemies are more difficult to kill.

*Hard.
Health packs are very scarce and enemies are deadly.

After choosing the difficulty level to suit you, you will then be taken back to the briefing room where Colonel Hargrove will give you the latest intel on the area and hand you your mission objectives.

To begin the mission skip the briefing at any time and the level will be loaded. Once in the game you can bring up your list of objectives at any time by pressing TAB.

There are many different weapons to choose from such as:
  • Colt .45.
  • Silenced Pistol.
  • Sniper. (This is my favourite).
  • Sub-machine Gun.
  • Bazooka.
  • Shotgun.
  • and many more...

Basically you have a team of allies all trying to help you complete your mission. You get to drive tanks, kill loads of Germans, disguise yourself and much more. So you can battle your way through 30 levels in 6 extensive and exciting missions. This game is also great played over the internet. To do this go to the map room and click on Multiplayer a box will then appears asking you if you would like to search LAN for games or search the Internet for games. Click search internet and it will bring up a list of all the internet servers running, the servers near the top of the list will have a better ping so if possible choose one of these. There are 3 different types of internet game which are:
  • Free For All: On a free for all you can kill anything that moves.
  • Objectives Game: In an objectives game you will play as part of a
team and work together to complete objectives given at the start of
    the game.
  • Team match: In a team match game you all work together as a team
and try and kill all of the other team before they finish you off.

Once you have chosen which game you want to join you will then be asked to pick your team, out of Allies or Axis. Axis are Germans so I always pick to be an Allie. Next you must pick your weapon and then your ready to go. Enjoy!!I recommend this game to everyone. I know alot of you may be thinking No Way its a war game but thats what I thought before I actually had a go and now I love it.

The graphics are amazing, all the players, buildings, and vehicles look so very real and lifelike that you feel as though you are actually in the game. At 34.99 It may be a bit pricey for some people but believe me it is worth it.

Lots of detail, and interesting to hear a female perspective on a 'lads' war game. Thanks, I'm going to buy it, but I hear it's a nightmare getting across the beach in the first place - a bit like Majorca! Bunny762

Good op on a subject that doesn't usually get a great deal of interest from the female camp....Kind of like me doing an op on Tampax...lol Well done DEANO!
