It took me a long time to decide if I should buy this pump. I really wanted to breastfeed, so did not think about buying a pump while pregnant, until I was told that stimulating the breasts before the birth would ensure good supply. At that time I chse the medela harmony (the manual one). IT was good and felt comfortable to use.

Then my daughter was born and could not latch on. So while in hospital I ended up expressing with their electric pump and cup feeding. Back at home the manual pump was just too slow. To cut a long stort short, I ended up borrowing the medela swing from the hospital for 2 weeks, but decided to buy the freestyle, for the double pumping.

It is supposed to be a hands free pump, but I found that the bottles would not stay on straight in their own, so I had to hold them in place (i have been told that may be due to big boobs). So in the end I did not bother with the straps. I was able to express 100ml in about 7 mins, which was very good. It made the whole express/feed/wind precess a bit less time comsuming.

AS baby got older i went back to single pumping, so I had at least one hand free to play. Dispite using the double pump as a single one, I am still glad I bought it. The recharable battery means you can use it anywhere. I have expressed in the car a few times. The battery lasts a least one day for me (I think you can buy a car charger). and the coolbag is excellent for storing the mik and keeping it cold. I also find it useful to have two sets of what I all the "pumping bits", especially at night, so I do not have to clean in straight away. It'a a little annoying that the pumping bits for the other medela products do not fit into this one..
