The Best Medical Book On Natural Hormonal Balance
Advantages: excellent medical info and advice, well-organized and helpful Disadvantages: repetitious necessarily; rather heavy
...R. Lee's and Virginia Hopkin's What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause isn't only about menopause or for women, for hormonal imbalance often begins with premenopause in a woman's mid-thirties and can last til the end of her life, and men could also learn much about the women in their lives besides a little something for themselves. When I recently reviewed (on epinions.com) Dr. William Regelson's and Carol Colman's 1996 book, The Super-Hormone ... ...read the 1996 edition of What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause, but an epinions.com member did and found it lacking in solid, clinical evidence and was only convinced by the praises of friends to try natural progesterone cream (not any wild yam extract), although not nearly for long enough, it seems. This updated version includes that evidence with the findings of the Women's Health Initiative in 2002 that confirms that synthetic hormones ...

If only buying one buy this
Advantages: it is all in here Disadvantages:
This is a constantly changing text - the 9th edition developed by Neistadt and Crepau, two excellent OT's. The history and the excellence show through in this text. It once again draws together the best parts of occupational therapy incorporating traditional perspectives with the latest advances in thinking. It begins with the foundations the core principles of the profession and moves right through the process and its application in a variety of ...

Mummy's Little Bible!
Advantages: Comprehensive, reassuring, not condescending and accessible Disadvantages: A rather hefty tome !
What a great book for the nervous mother to be! Being a moderately intelligent and inquisitive woman,I was searching for a book about pregnancy that told the whole story. This book manages to allay fears, build your confidence and give simple but comprehensive information on all aspects of pregnancy from the very beginning to birth and beyond. Advantages: This book contains a month by month guide to what is happening and what you should do during ... ...at the beginning of each section. I found these really useful as they highlight the key points and avoid you having to re-read the whole section if you just want a quick reference. The book has illustrations and uses a questions and answers format to help you feel less nervy and much more 'normal' - the questions are often those you have in your head! The index was comprehensive and allowed for easy dipping in and out of the information too. Disadvantages; ...

An interesting book of case studies
Advantages: Interesting, thought-provoking case studies Disadvantages: Author doesn't really make any conclusions clear; more for the specialist
Oliver Sacks is a physician and neurologist by profession, but has an extremely keen ear for music. He is supremely, if not almost uniquely, qualified to tell us in the opening pages of this book that the power of music occupies more areas of our brain than language does. This is by way of a prelude to a book consisting largely of case histories of people struggling to adapt to different neurological conditions. Among the cases he discusses is that ... ...surgeon, who was struck by lightning while making a telephone call, developed a passion for music within a few weeks, started teaching himself the piano, and became a compulsive composer; Silvia N., who suffered from epilepsy, who was normally sent into convulsions by a CD of Neapolitan songs; and Rachael Y., a composer and performer, who suffered a head injury in a car crash, and has retained her sense of melody but lost her sense of harmony, so ...

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
Advantages: Easy to use, excellent for revision Disadvantages: Quite basic and sometimes doesn't give actual muscle attachments
...always buying new books with the latest information in that was all highly complicated and made very little sense to me. And so I found myself scouring through a number of online websites and bookstores attempting to find books to aid with my studies but not confuse me to boredom!
This is what I found! The Concise Book of Muscles by Chris Jarmey. It gives you a little bit more than a basic guide to the anatomy of the body but is easy to read and ... ...anatomical movement and explanations about the "core stability" of the body i.e. the vertebral column and thoracic/pelvic region. It then goes on to give an explanation regarding muscle attachment and isometric/isotonic contractions which is very beneficial when studying anything medical.
The book then moves on in sections working from the head downwards with pictures of the muscles and a statement of: origin, insertion, action and nerve supply. ...
