As a bit of a beauty product snob, it had been a long time since I'd used Avon products. Avon conjured up for me; cheap smelling perfume, foundation that didn't last very long & moisturiser that made my skin go red. So when someone put an Avon book on my desk & work, telling me that his wife had been made redundant & was trying to make a bit of cash through Avon I felt obliged to flick through & have a look. Nothing was really jumping out at me at all, until I reached the Planet Spa page & remembered my Mum telling me that this new range was supposed to be fantastic.
Planet Spa is a relatively new range by Avon themed on different areas of the world. The ingredients they use for these new product ranges are natural & themed such as African Shea Butter, Dead Sea Mud, Mediterranean Olive Oil and Sea Kelp & Sea Algae from the South Pacific. The idea behind these ranges are to give the customer Spa quality products which they can use in their own home. Products such as scrubs & masks for face & body, hand & foot creams, body butters & the list goes on & on. I purchased a few products from the Planet Spa range & have found the Olive Oil Cleanser to be one of the best I've used.
So why Olive Oil, you say? Well, in the world of skin care, startling antiaging and antiwrinkling properties can be attributed to almost any plant-sourced ingredient. One of the latest is olive oil. The concept of olive oil having antiaging properties stems from some evidence that diets high in olive oil may help prevent heart disease. It seems that olive oil is a good antioxidant and assuredly it's a good moisturising ingredient.
The cleanser comes in a clear pump top bottle, which contains 150ml of product. You can see the product through the plastic & can see exactly how much you have left. On the front of the bottle appears the Planet Spa logo in an olive green colour & the writing: Creamy Facial Cleanser, Mediterranean Olive Oil in English, French & German. On the back there are directions for use in several languages & an ingredients. I like the packaging; it's a lot more classy & stylish than typical Avon products and looks nice in your bathroom.
When you pump some of the product out onto your hand, you'll see that it has a really creamy texture, is completely opaque and cream in colour with a slight green tinge. Although the cleanser doesn't actually smell of olive oil it does have a very pleasant fresh smell. I cant put my finger on what it smells like but it is really nice. Once you've wet your face, rub a small amount into your skin in small circles, it feels really nice & creamy on your face. I use a facial loofah type thing sometimes to get a bit of extra exfoliation when I feel I need it, but this product is ace on its own. Once you rinse it off with water you'll see it's removed all traces of makeup & dirt from your skin. To get stubborn mascara off just rub an extra bit into your eye area & rinse.
This cleanser is so gentle & creamy it's perfect for people with sensitive skin as it doesn't contain any soap. It good for all skin types too, I have oily skin & find it great & my friend who has dry skin loves it too. It really did leave my skin soft & feeling really fresh & clean - and it doesn't hurt if you get it in your eyes! This stuff would give any beauty counter brand cleanser a run for its money!
