removing hair from blocked plug holes
Advantages: Cheap and easy to use Disadvantages: Only convenient if you happen to use hair removal cream
I recently had a problem with blocked bath plug holes. I had tried bicarbonate of soda without success and I was about to go out and buy some drain clearing product when I had a fantastic idea.
I realised that probably most of what was stopping the plug hole from draining was probably hair as both my partner and I have long hair. I saw that I still had some hair removal cream from my holiday earlier in the year. I decided that this would be a great ...

Clean your home with baking soda
Advantages: reduces cleaning materials used about the house, which will be good for asthmatics Disadvantages: none
While in town with my cousin for lunch we got chatting about the dampness she has in her sons bedroom, an elderly neighbour had told her to try baking soda, as this would get rid of the problem and keep it from returning, so she decided she was going to give it a try.
(not sure yet, if it has worked)

Miraculous Microwave Cleaning
Advantages: Quick, easy, no scrubbing Disadvantages: Nowt
Just an exceptionally quick tip for getting your microwave clear of all those splats and splurts of beans, mushrooms, soup and whatever else gets the chance to dirty it. I got this top tip from my office's housekeeper - top lady..
Place a very small drop of Cif, Flash, kitchen spray (or your other favourite smelling cleaner) into a bowl of water - literally a drip or two to perhaps a 1/2 pint of water. Place the bowl in the microwave and let it ... ...it will be ridiculously hot).
Using a warm cloth, simply wipe away the mess, grime & food which will come off without even a hint of a struggle. The cleanser will have left a pleasant smell as well! Just the little things like this help to make life easier - what does Cif say - your home is for living, not for cleaning! ...

Pane in the Arse !
Advantages: Saves money Disadvantages: None
Not something I like to do very much, but I have a few tips, which may help those amongst you clean those 'panes' in the arse that we call windows.
It may interest you to know that windows were originally just holes in the wall, In medieval times, with no actual glass in them, It's only when glass is invented that all the cleaning malarkey starts, and the word window is actual translated from the Anglo-Saxon meaning "wind-eye" which is literally ... ...where the wind blows through.
The first glass in widows in domestic buildings was introduced in Elizabethan times, due to greater political stability, houses could be more like houses, and less like fortresses, and there was scope to have pretty picture windows, without the fear of your neighbours putting a bloomin' cannon ball through 'em. The panes were very small indeed, and you had to have a great many of them to fill your hole in the wall, ...

LIMESCALE
To shift limescale from taps, soak some toilet paper in vinegar and wrap it around the tap, covering the limescale. Then wrap the tissue in clingfilm and leave overnight. Next day the limescale will come off easily!
In kettles, put some water and bicarbonate of soda inside, mix with some vinegar to cover the element and boil.
