Bartering the Way to Go!
Advantages Cheap deals
Disadvantages Too many people, can get crowed
Computer fairs are a great place to go if you know what your talking about and know what you want. Most charge and entrance fee, but it's normally made up for in the savings that you make when buying your hardware.
Look aroung, get price lists and if you buy in twos or bulk you can normally knock a few pounds off.
If youy looking for those odd bits for the computer too, like a PS/2 mouse to 15pin mouse convertor you will find one at a computer fair.
Just remeber to bargain, the bloke says 22 quid, you say 20 quid mate.
The disadvantages though are that sometimes you might feel tempted into buying something that you don't really need, like a new video card with a killer deal, but it's not that much better than the one you got now, or buying RAM, from my experience, people say Oo oo I'll have 64MB then they find out it's the worng speed our something and it's a bit late to take it back.
