High Blood Pressure.
Blood pressure is one of the main concerns that affects out society. So why is there such concern? Why are so many are there so many strokes that may arise form ignored high blood pressure? Why does it cause so many deaths?
To help you to appreciate what is Blood Pressure, we need to know why this is very important knowledge to know.
Blood pressure is the physical influence that pushes the blood against the walls of the arteries. Blood is needed to carry its supply from the heart to all of the body’s tissue and organs. Every time this happens, particularly when you are resting it pumps out its blood to the arteries at a rate about 60-70 times a minute.
When your doctor measures the heart, using a blood pressure it is measured with an instrument called a sphygmomanometer (pronounce as sfig-mo-ma-nom-e-ter).
There are two types of pressure (1) Systolic this means when the heart contracts and is pumping blood. (2) Diastolic is when the heart rests and between beats and it falls. The normal rate usually is 120 over 80.
When you have high blood pressure or Hypertension, it can become dangerous if not treated in time. The risk if ignored can result in: Heart Attack. This is when the arteries bring blood to the heart muscle this becomes blocked, it is crying out because it cannot get enough oxygen, the blood flow thus becomes reduced. This explains why people get chest pain or angina. In time, the flow stops completely leading to heart attack.
Arteriosclerosis: This is so called because the artery hardens, when you have high blood pressure it harms the arteries and makes then stiff and thick. It is interesting to note that this speed up the build-up of cholesterol and fats in the blood vessels, the best way I can describe this is like a pipe that is rusted. The blood vessels are not functioning this leads to heart attack or stroke.
Enlarged Heart. When you have high blood pressure, it also causes the heart to work faster. In time, this causes the heart to thicken and stretch. Because of this, the heart fluids go back into the lungs.
Kidney. This acts as a filter to get rid of body wastes, if you have blood pressure and it is ignored it can narrow and thicken blood vessels of the kidney, it will filter less fluid and waste builds in the blood.
Stroke: (Cerebral Vascular Accident. C.V.A.) High blood pressure harms the arteries casing them to narrow faster; less blood gets in the brain. In addition, clots one of the narrowed arteries causing a stroke.
So what are the symptoms? It will become apparent, you may have headaches, become confused, sleepiness, have difficulty in breathing and nose bleeds.
So what can you do to prevent high blood pressure? You need to have your blood pressure checked by your doctor if its high he usually arranges tests and use medications as part of your treatment. He may give you drugs combat to blood pressure. Two examples are:
Beta Blockers: This medication relaxes the heart. They are used in the treatment of angina, irregular heart rrhythms, they are sometimes given after the person suffers a heart attack. Beta blockers have other uses it may be given for reducing physical symptoms of anxiety, mirgrane. Diuretics: Help to turn of excess body water into urine. they remove excess of water from the blood stream. They act on the kidneys, these vital organs governs the water content of the body. This explains why you need to pass urine often!
There are ways you can personally enhance your life. You can maintain a healthy diet, lose weight if you are overweight (my biggest obstacle! Nevertheless, I am trying!) Make sure your foods are low in sodium and salt, be more physically active, and if you like your alcoholic beverage, do so in moderation, and do not smoke.
Take care!

I have had high blood pressure for years and this is the clearest information on it I have ever had. The only bit I knew about was the stroke.
Thanks

I have rated you exceptional, my first one, as I have so much more understanding just from reading your review! I admire the text you have written, your non-alarming descriptions, and almost convinced myself I was reading an email from my nurse at our health center. EXCEPTIONAL!.
