Member Advice on Insurance

I have been driving for 10 years and without a claim but a drive a class 10 insurance car so the premium is high. However, a few years ago I stubbled on an interesting way to lower my car insurance - haggle. This is what happened - I was quoted a price by Commercial Union - it was a astronomical figure in the 1000's. so I decided to phone some other companies, I soon found at that each insurer that I phoned asked me what the best price was that I had already been given. The best price was £775 third part, fire & theft. The next insurer said they'd take £50 off that figure - the next was even better and better and better until ...... my original quote from CU of £1067 was £165!!! I have been doing it ever since.

The moral of the story? Shop around - don't be frighted to push hard to get your moenies worth. I have proved that we are being taken for a ride as CU were offering me the exact same package that I now have, only 10 times more expensive.
