I am going to give you some information regarding how to choose the right student bank account for you. I will also give you information regarding how to use it effectively and how to manage your money in general regarding banking and interest rates while you are a student. 1) Get a student account with a good overdraft facility. There are plenty of student bank accounts out there so shop around to get the best deal. Apply for one within the first month or so of joining Uni as they tend to do special offers, which do not carry on all year round. For example I got a HSBC Student Account and the ... more

I Set out this morning to look for leaflets on bank accounts for my daughter. Opening a bank account should be an easy thing to do but I set out to do just that but I find out it isn't as easy as it seems. Lloyds TSB They are offering a family or friend referral scheme where each of you get awarded £50 they say… YOU FIRST You've made the right choice by opening a Lloyd's tsb current account. i have belonged to lloyds bank, now renamed lloydstsb for 25 years. in the early years (first 15) this bank was similar to all the others, however, it now offers a superb facility for a student. Upon graduating this bank offers many rewards for staying with them. i.e.extended overdraft facilities for 3 years, also a loan with no interest. i have looked at many other banks since graduating and have not found any other which offers as much as lloydstsb. their telephone service and internet access are also brilliant. what more could a student ask for. i have personally tried other banks but they ... more
