Help, I am getting married and not confident of doing my own make-up on the big day.
Well, that was my exact worry. What would be worse than turning to my husband to be at the moment I was to say "I Do", knowing I've made such a mess of the make-up and this will be seen on the wedding photo's & video, forever and ever.
My solution, (after a tip from my hairdresser) was to try the Body Shop wedding make-up service.
I ventured in - feeling quite nervous at the thought of some-one applying make-up to me- what if they applied the most awful colours? Well, the staff could not have been more friendly, it seemed there were quite used to slightly panicky brides to be (I had left my enquiry rather late - just 2 weeks before the wedding - what if they couldn't fit me in?)
The staff explained the process and cost in a friendly but proessional manner and I immediately fely confidence in the service.
The cost was £25, which included a £10 off voucher. This included a trial run which lasted about an hour, and the make-up on the day.
There was an option for them to come out to you on the day, at home, although this cost £5 extra and the taxi to and from the shop.
The trial run itself put my mind completely at ease. The make-up lady put me at ease straight away, looked at colours/material of my dress and we took it from there. She picked colours straight away I loved, although she checked along the way that I liked each colour of lipstick/ eyeshadow/ foundation/blusher/eyeliner etc etc - I didn't realise there was so much make-up could be applied to one face. She always gave me a choice of shades etc and I had every opportunity to change my mind and try something else.
The end result, a natural look I had wanted and could never have achieved myself in a million years, never mind the tight timelimits imposed on the Big Day.
An hour+ was spent reaching the end result and making sure I was happy with colours and each stage of the process.
The make-up lady, and other staff in the shop, were so friendly. I left the trial run feeling confident I had something else to tick off the "to do" list rather than still hunting around.
On the day, I zoomed round from the hairdresser which was thankfully just round the corner from the Body Shop - I felt a bit of a nana wearing a tiari in the town centre.
The make-up on the day was applied much quicker than the hour it took for the trial - the make-up lady had kept notes of every detail so all she had to do was apply the make-up. All that was left for me to do was dash home, change from jeans into my dress and try and make it to the church on time.
The Body Shop wedding make-up service was fantastic. I would certainly recommend it. The £10 voucher is a great bonus. I used mine on buying the lipstick, and bits and bobs to top up my make-up for the evening reception.
Incidentally, I didn't quite make it to the church on time - 10 mins late, not too bad!!

My daughter was lucky we had both the hairdresser and make up people at home, a tiara and jeans sounds fun! An excellent price was something so important which can make the day. Jo
