Advantages I don't have a DELL anymore :)
Disadvantages 50 hours of 'customer service'
If you enjoy waiting on hold, getting lied to, ignored and then hung up on, on a daily basis for months on end, buy a Dell, they are really great at all the above!
I bought a Dell Laptop, and without any exaggeration at all, spent 30 hours on the phone, with and without a 'manager's' remote assistance dialled into my laptop to try and fix a problem. At the end of the calls, my 'manager' apologised profusely about my time she had wasted, then asked if there was anything she could do, when I asked what the options were, There were none!
I then called to try and talk to a customer service representative to explain the difficulties, and I had lots of sympathetic ears who promised to take my call to the manager personally - all then either went to the call centre reception again, or simply hung up on.
My hard drive then crashed, and after proving it was a hardware problem in BIOS, I was told it was my Operating System which was as fault - a blatant lie.
I eventually received a refund after writing to the local Dell office and informing them that I was going to Consumer affairs if there was no resolution soon.
The service is very different for business customers apparently...
Please, save your sanity, avoid Dell.
