Olbas Inhaler Nasal Stick 24/05/2017

Revive your senses

Olbas Inhaler Nasal Stick Intoroduction Unfortunately, many of us suffer from annoying colds throughout the year, especially during winter time. One of the most common systems that I tend to have is a heavily blocked nose. Personally, I find it really hard to function when I can't breathe. Luckily, I have discovered this wonderful product that actually eases my suffering and allows me to function properly when I'm ill. About the product The Olbas nasal inhaler stick is designed to provide relief from catarrh, colds, and blocked sinuses. It comes in a relatively small tube that contains the active ingredients. The way that it works is that the essential oils contained inside of the inhaler stick unblock your sinuses and allow for easier breathing. It is a very popular form of cold relief but it does not provide an actual cure, rather a temporary solution to the problem. This product may cause certain side effects but they are very rare. The most likely one appears to be an allergic reaction in the form of a rash but personally I have never experienced anything like that, even though I am usually allergic to many things, including medicines. Ingredients The active ingredients in this product are: Cajuput Oil 20%, Eucalyptus Oil 20%, Levomenthol 40%, Peppermint Oil 20%. Directions for use This product is suitable for adults and children aged six or over. You are meant to remove the outer lid off of the inhaler stick, close one of your nostrils, place the inhaler in the other nostril, and inhale ...

Tesco Kitchen Foil 23/05/2017

They didn't think this through too well

Tesco Kitchen Foil Introduction I think that just about everyone living in England has a Tesco around the corner from their house. Personally, I have one just down the road from where I live, which is very convenient, especially as it is open for longer than other stores. I recently picked up some kitchen foil at my local branch; it wasn't very expensive so I didn't expect too much from it, but I was rather disappointed at the end. I understand that not everyone may agree with my evaluation but for me, it is really important that the product is consumer-friendly; this one wasn't. About the product This kitchen foil comes on a standard cardboard tube that is placed inside of a box with a cutting edge to help you tear the foil. On the bottom of the box there are some warning labels and some general information about the foil. This product is 10 metres in length and is approximately 300mm wide. This packaging also has a label that reads 'strong foil', suggesting that it is more durable that ordinary kitchen foil. It is suitable for use in fridges, freezers, and ovens. How it performs The foil itself is of a good quality and I am quite happy with that. It is very handy that it is suitable not only for storage but also for cooking, which is always convenient as it reduced the amount of washing up that has to be done on a daily basis (no one likes washing up, let's face it). I have noticed that this foil is also great for locking in smells, so if you want to store something that has a strong scent ...

Oral B 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste 22/05/2017

Great toothpaste that does the job

Oral B 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste Introduction When it comes to choosing toothpaste I always try to be very cautious because you have to take good care of your teeth. I do quite enjoy whitening toothpaste but I also realise that using it too often could have detrimental effects, which is why I try to ensure that my toothpaste is both gentle and whitening. I have been very happy with the performance of this Oral B 3D White product and I would definitely recommend it as a good whitening toothpaste. Ingredients Water, Sorbitol, Hydrated Silica, Disodium Pyrophosphate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Aroma, Cellulose Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Fluoride, Carbomer, Sodium Saccharin, Xanthan Gum, CI 77891, Limonene, Mica, Glycerin, CI 73360, CI 74160. About the product This product definitely does deliver on its promises. Normally I am very wary of all whitening toothpaste because I don't think that any of it truly whitens your teeth; however, this product definitely does improve the whiteness of your teeth. It is good at removing certain stains and it does require constant use or relatively vigorous scrubbing, which isn't always great for the enamel. I have been using this twice a day for a few months now and I have noticed a slight improvement but nothing too visible, yet I still suppose that this is better than other whitening toothpaste. This particular product claims to use an enamel-safe formula, which overrides my previous comments about the danger of overusing whitening toothpaste. I have to admit that I ...

Waitrose Washing Up Liquid 20/05/2017

One of the few Waitrose Essentials that is actually essential

Waitrose Washing Up Liquid Introduction Having lived in England for some time now I have learnt that very few products in Waitrose that are labelled as 'Essential' actually are in any way useful. Their dishwashing liquid is, however, a different story. Not only is it truly Essential (unless you're like me and you get take away to avoid washing the dishes) but it is also very impressive for the price. I have been incredibly pleased with this product and it is definitely a must-have in any kitchen. Ingredients Less than 5% - non-ionic surfactants, perfume, benzisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, and the following allergens - citronellol, hexyl cinnamal, limonene About 5%-15% - amphoteric surfactants About 15%-30% - anionic surfactants It also contains additives - artificial colourings and alcohol (ethanol/ethyl alcohol). About the product Right off the bat I would like to stress just how gentle this washing up liquid is to your skin. I normally feel that my hands dry out upon using even some of the better washing up liquids on the market; sometimes even the ones that claim to be gentle and soothing can be a disappointment. This product, however, has no negative effect on my skin whatsoever; even if I need to be interacting with it for some time, it still has no impact on my hands. In terms of its performance as a grease remover, I have also been quite impressed with the results. The product generates a lot of foam when used but it is the helpful cleansing foam as opposed to the mere soapy mess ...

Kenzo Flower Essentielle Eau de Parfum 19/04/2017

Minimalistic beauty

Kenzo Flower Essentielle Eau de Parfum Introduction I have known a lot of people who have been big fans of Kenzo for a long time. Personally, I never really used their products before, so I was curious to give their very popular scent a try. I bought it as a treat for myself and it was definitely worth it. Kenzo is a French luxury brand founded by a Japanese designer. They began their life as a clothes manufacturer but soon expanded into the cosmetics industry. Their Flower perfume is one of their most iconic scents - it is praised for its chic beauty. I think that everything about this perfume screams Japan and it is wonderfully executed. The scent The primary scents included in this fragrance are rather sweet, although they are neutral in their intensity - parma violet, gentle wild hawthorn, Bulgarian rose, cassis, and mandarin orange. The slightly more powdery undertones are a combination of white musk, vanilla, acacia, and jasmine. The base note of incense adds a very interesting oriental edge to the fragrance, making it stand out among the more conventional flowery-woody combinations. The scents that I consider to be the most prevalent ones would be the parma violet, Bulgarian rose, vanilla, and white musk, which creates a very pleasant scent that is both sweet and light. I find that I don't need to be using a lot of the perfume and I don't have to renew it throughout the day, which makes it last for a long time. The scent is not overpowering yet it lingers on you for a long time; it is the perfect ...

Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm 07/04/2017

Look no further for a great lip balm

Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm Introduction I have always liked Nivea skin care products due to their good quality and affordable prices; I have not once been disappointed in any of their products. Their range of products is not outstanding in any way but they always deliver on their promises and they are great for daily use. This is why when I realised that I need a new lip balm, I raided the local Boots for a Nivea one. Their range of lip balm products has a lot of different types available but in this particular review I will be analysing the performance of their Hydro Care lip balm. About the product The Nivea Hydro Care lip balm is a gloss-free lip balm that is intended to moisturise your lips, provide long-lasting protection from cracked lips, and it also has an SPF of 15. There is nothing particularly special about this product, yet I have been extremely satisfied with its performance and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for an affordable quality lip balm. Ingredients Octyldodecanol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cera Microcristallina, Ricinus Communis Seed Oil, Cetyl Palmitate, Myristyl Myristate, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisosterate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Aqua, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cera Carnauba, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Simmondsia Chinensis Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Aloe Barbadensis Gel, Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Cera Alba, C20-40 Alkyl Stearate, Benzyl Alcohol, BHT, Parfum. Its performance After having used this lip balm for some ...

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil 05/04/2017

A magical concoction that transforms your skin into silk

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil Introduction I received this product as part of a gift set box. I have always been a great fan of L'Occitane as a brand but I rarely buy it for myself, considering that it is really expensive. I do appreciate the fact that their products are really high quality and from personal experience all of them are absolutely fantastic. This shower oil is something that I would've never bought for myself only because I don't really understand the appeal of such products; hence I was very eager to actually try it out when I got it as a gift. About the product This product is a shower oil that can be used to either enhance your shower or bath experience - the important part to note is that it has to be removed off of your skin instead of being left on it. The primary ingredient in this product is almond, which predominates in its scent as well. When it comes in contact with water, it transforms into a soft foam that is intended to leave a silky layer on your skin after it is washed off. The almond contained in this product is designed to act as a softener and a tonic for your body. The full list of ingredients found in this product is as follows: Almond oil, sweet almond fruit extract, water, Shea butter, glycerin, caprilyc triglyceride, grape seed oil, dicaprylyl carbonate, dimethicone, apricot kernel oil, cetearyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, coconut oil, honey extract, hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, tocopherol, ethylhexylglycerin, fragrance, xanthan ...

Whish Almond Three Whishes Body Butter 29/03/2017

This has converted me to an almond-lover

Whish Almond Three Whishes Body Butter Introduction I received a sample of this product as part of a monthly beauty subscription. I have previously never heard of this manufacturer and to be honest I was at first rather disappointed with this, considering that I really do not like anything almond. However, after having used it a couple of times, I realised that I do actually really like this product. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who likes body butters, but I must admit that it is rather difficult to come by. About the product The Whish almond body butter is part of an American range of natural and organic products. It is intended to moisturise, firm, and purify your skin. The primary ingredients in this product include organic shea butter, organic raspberry butter, organic aloe, organic seaweed extract, almond extract, and organic rice bran oil. This product is entirely paraben, sulphate, phthalate, petrochemical, DEA, and TEA free, which I find to be an amazing advantage, consider that this practically rules out the possibility of it irritating your skin or causing any kind of allergies. I have definitely found this product to be moisturising. I have noticed that my skin feels a lot smoother and softer almost immediately after use, which is an amazing sensation. Also, if you use it for some time, you will notice that the quality of your skin does improve, as it becomes healthier and more nourished. My skin also feels a stronger and it is less prone to drying out, which reaffirms the claim that this ...

Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm 21/03/2017

A product to melt (most of) your makeup

Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm Introduction I received a sample of this product as part of a monthly beauty box subscription. Previously I never even heard of a cleansing balm designed to melt your makeup; prior to this I have only ever used liquid makeup remover. I am definitely glad to have discovered this product because I think that it is a very interesting concept. For the most part, I have been really happy with its performance and I am eager to share my experience with you. About the product The Merumaya melting cleansing balm performs two functions - it removes your makeup and it soothes your tired skin after a long day. On the back of the packaging there is a note explaining how to use this product, stating that you must gently massage it over your dry face and then add water to it. In the process, the product will begin to melt and in turn will emulsify the makeup; upon adding the water, it will turn into a light milk that will allow for easy removal. From my experience, I have discovered that most of these claims are true and that it is a rather effective makeup remover. The ingredients found in this product are: Caprylic triglyceride, glycerin, sweet almond oil, water, sucrose laurate, glyceryl dibehenate, echium plantagineum seed oil, phenoxyethanol, sucrose palmitate, fragrance, sucrose cocoate, sucrose stearate, citronellol, ethylhexylglycerin, garcinia mangostana fruit extract, limonene, linalool, caprylyl glycol, chlorphenesin, tetrasodium edta, butylene glycol, hexylene glycol. The ...

OGX Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner 09/03/2017

A breath of life for damaged hair

OGX Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner Introduction This product was recommended to me by a friend who claimed that it delivered on its promises and could actually help repair damaged hair. Being naturally rather distrusting of such bold claims, I decided to give this brand a go and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. About the product This conditioner is designed to renew and revive damaged, dry hair. It locks in moisture and thereby hydrates the hair, allowing it to feel silky and healthy once again. I have been using this product for some time now and I have realised that it does in fact have a very positive effect on my hair: I had some loose dry tresses that now feel a lot healthier as compared to a month ago. The primary ingredient in this conditioner is Moroccan argan oil, which is responsible for the silky feeling that your hair experiences after use. The full list of ingredients contained in this product is as follows: Water, cetearyl alcohol, behentrimonium chloride, cetyl alcohol, glycerin, argan kernel oil, silk amino acids, dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicool, glycol distearate, glycol stearate, ceteareth-20, isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol, alcohol, DMDM hydantoin, diazolidinyl urea, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, fragrance, benzyl salicylate, butylphenyl methylpropional, hexyl cinnamal, limonene, linalool, CI 19140/yellow 5, CI 16035/red 40. I would like to emphasise how this product not only renews and revives your hair, but it also hydrates it, which protects it from any ...

Fairy Washing Up Liquid Lemon 06/03/2017

Lovely lemon scent for your dishes

Fairy Washing Up Liquid Lemon Introduction Funnily enough, I picked up this product late at night at an off-license because I realised that I ran out of washing up liquid. I have heard good things about Fairy before but I wasn't expecting much; I was actually pleasantly surprised by the performance of this product. Here is what I have found after having used it for quite some time: About the product The Fairy Lemon Washing Up Liquid boasts more grease cutting power than the next best-selling brand. This is about as much as the packaging gives you in terms of general information about the product, so I suppose it's safe to assume that it's just your ordinary washing up liquid. The list of ingredients found in this product is as follows: 15-30% Anionic surfactants, 5-15% Non-ionic surfactants, Methylisothiazolinone, Phenoxyethanol, Perfumes. One important disadvantage to note right off the bat is that this product does not have disinfecting capabilities. It is not essential for washing up liquid to also be a disinfectant, but I feel as though it is an important advantage that makes the product a lot more useful and practical around the kitchen. Aside from this I have actually been rather happy with my lemon washing up liquid. The most important question is how well does it clean: in all honesty, it's rather good. You do not need a lot of the washing up liquid as it foams really well, however the foam retains the cleaning capabilities instead of simply diluting the product. It tends to do well with most ...

Aussie ColorMate Shampoo 03/03/2017

A loyal friend to coloured hair

Aussie ColorMate Shampoo Introduction I have heard lots of great things about the Aussie range of hair care products and recently I finally decided to buy a handful of them. One of the things that I have picked out was the Aussie Colour Mate Shampoo, as at the time I had coloured hair that I wanted to preserve for as long as possible. To be honest, I was very much surprised by the quality of this product and I am very happy to be sharing my experience of it with you. About the product This particular product is intended for colour or permed hair, as it is designed to brighten the colour of your hair and keep it from rapidly washing out with every shower that you take. It also claims to protect coloured hair from any chemical damage. One of it's main ingredients is Australian wild peach extract. The full list of ingredients found in this product is as follows: Aqua, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycol Distearate, Sodium Citrate, Cocamide MEA, Sodium Xylenesulfonate, Parfum, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Chloride, Glycerin, Tetrasodium EDTA, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Limonene, Linalool, Butylene Glycol, Magnesium Nitrate, Santalum Acuminatum Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Alcohol Denat., Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Magnesium Chloride, Methylisothiazolinone, Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Sulfate, Potassium Sorbate. Overall, I must admit that I have been very satisfied with this product - it delivers on all of its promises and I have ...

Burt's Bees Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream 07/02/2017

This has a peculiar scent...

Burt's Bees Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream Introduction I received the Burt's Bees Cleansing Cream as part of a monthly subscription box, so unfortunately it only came as a sample. I have previously used and very much enjoyed Burt's Bees lip balm, so I was eager to try another product manufactured by that brand. Overall, I have been rather pleasantly surprised by this cleansing cream; however, as the title of my review may suggest, I was not completely satisfied with it. Ingredients Chamomile flower extract Soap bark extract Aloe leaf extract (softens the skin, making it feels smoother and more moisturised) Menthol (revitalises and refreshes the skin) Water Sunflower seed oil Stearic acid Glycerin Cetyl alcohol Cetearyl alcohol Coconut oil Coco-glucoside Silica Echinacea purpurea extract Witch hazel leaf extract Tocopherol Cocoa seed butter About the product A very important advantage of all Burt's Bees products is that they are composed of one hundred percent natural ingredients. It's always nice to know what your products contain and to be certain that it is not entirely composed of strange chemicals that will inevitably damage your skin. The manufacturer claims that this product gently cleans and softens your skin, removing dirt, excess oil, and make up. After using this cleansing cream for some time I have indeed noticed that it has made my skin softer; if anything, my skin feels very soft immediately after use. This makes it more even and in turn facilitates the application of makeup or any sort of cream. It ...

Colgate Plax Whitening Mouthwash 17/01/2017

A mouthwash with a tolerable taste?

Colgate Plax Whitening Mouthwash Introduction I have been quite an avid user of mouthwashes for quite some time now but I have always struggled finding one that does not burn my mouth. Most of the ones that I have used were Listerine products that have had very unpleasant tastes. I am very glad to have stumbled upon this Colgate product since it actually has a tolerable taste, which means that I can safely use it. About the product I have previously used and enjoyed multiple Colgate toothpastes but I have never tried any of their other products. I picked up this mouthwash because it was on sale at my local Boots and it was actually a very good find. I have been using it for a while now and I even went out to buy another bottle when my first one ran out, which goes to show how much I liked the product. This mouthwash has a very pleasant taste to it, unlike most other mouthwashes. It has a slight mint flavour, but not the kind that is going to burn your palette. It actually feels very nice and cool in your mouth when you are using it; even if you accidentally swallow or retain a bit of the product in your moth, you will barely notice it because it tastes the same way as mint chewing gum would. The only issue is that if you drink water right after using the mouthwash it will not taste very nice, however the same can be said for any other mouthwash. I was surprised to find that this product does not leave my mouth feeling dry but rather very smooth, as it gently coats the gums and the rest of the inside. As ...

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Strength Restorer Conditioner 14/01/2017

Excellent conditioner for silky smooth hair

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Strength Restorer Conditioner Introduction I have always been a fan of the occasional Garnier product that I got the chance to try and I picked up this conditioner in my local Boots store because it was on sale. I expected it to be satisfactory but it turned out to be a lot more than just that. I have enjoyed using it for some months now and it is definitely a product that I would return to. I strongly recommend this for anyone who is looking for a quality conditioner to repair damaged hair. About the product The Garnier Ultimate Blends Strength Restorer Conditioner is a product designed for damaged hair that is prone to breakage. It claims to strengthen, nourish, and protect damaged hair. It does not contain parabens but instead proudly exhibits its honey, propolis, and royal jelly extracts. This product certainly does deliver on its promises. I naturally have rather thin hair that is easily damaged by just about anything from blow-drying to cold weather. After having used this product for some time I have noticed a rather significant improvement: my hair now feels a lot smoother and softer, it has a very pleasant silky glow to it, and it just generally feels a lot healthier. The product also makes my hair feel nourished and cared for. I do tend to leave the product on my hair for quite some time though, which may be why it has been working so well. Another thing that I have noticed is that this conditioner is a perfect finish if you want to then style your hair: it makes my hair very obedient, which ...
