I am 40 years old and spend time on my PC doing surveys, entering competitions and looking for the best deals on the internet (which I am very good at finding!). I also love travelling, particularly staying at 4-5 star hotels at bargain prices.

Companion care vet (inside pet's at home stores) 10/05/2014

Overpriced Prescriptions, Full Information not given to customer

Companion care vet (inside pet's at home stores) I took my dog to the vets inside companion care at a branch in Dacorum, Hertfordshire. The vet prescribed an ear cleaner for my dog, of which I asked if it could be purchased elsewhere or was prescription only. I was advised he had not seen it elsewhere, implying it was prescription only. I therefore purchased it at a cost of £24.68, which at the time I felt was rather a lot. I got home looked on the internet to find it could be purchased from many sites including Amazon, at various costs between £8-£12. I was incensed and immediately rung the vet up to complain. Not only was this particular receptionish quite abrupt with me, she said it is the manufacturers pricing, and it is not up to them to tell the customer if they can have a prescription to purchase elsewhere, or even if it needs a prescription but it is down to the customer! She agreed to refund my money the following day, however said as I was purchasing it elsewhere online I would need to buy a prescription from them at a cost of £6. Luckily I looked on the internet again, and found the ear cleaner was a standard non-prescription needed product. I did get my money back, didn't buy a prescription, and bought it elsewhere for £8, but it has left me reeling as to how many other customers may well think they need to buy products directly from their vet, and that products are all prescrption only, as opposed to being given choices and told the truth. ...

Argos Pet Insurance 08/08/2012

Beware, Premiums double or treble after first year

Argos Pet Insurance This is the first time I have taken out pet insurance, so after doing extensive research and reading the small print in all polices and online reviews, I opted for Argos. At first I was delighted, albeit that I was paying £33 per month to cover my 10 year old pedigree dog with liftime/platimum cover. I have not made or needed to make any claims, however my renewal has just arrived and I nearly fell of my chair Argos want £81 this year, which is nearly three times as much. When I rung them to ask why they said it makes no difference whether I have had no claims but it is just vets fees have increased and market forces! what a rip off! I am now looking at going with either AXA or Direct Line, who both again don't appear to offer small hidden costs. ...

Vila Gale Cerro Alagoa, Albufeira 23/03/2007

This is my 1st choice hotel for Albufeira.....

Vila Gale Cerro Alagoa, Albufeira This is my third time staying in Albufeira (March 2007). I have previously stayed at the Paraisio and Brisa Sol which are also four star hotels next door to the Vale Gale Cerra Alagoa. Out of all three hotels this is my first choice, followed by the paraisio. The staff in the hotel speak good english and service was very efficient. I was also give an upgrade to my room. I was put on 2nd floor and got moved to the 3rd floor in a newer room. (the hotel are in the process of modernising all the rooms, so I would recommend you try to get one with at least the number 42 at the end i.e. 142,242,342,44) The hotel operate on a key card system as opposed to having to carry keys around. I also lost my key card and the staff did not charge me, nor seem unduly worried. The room itself was large with two twin beds pushed together, with sheets and a bedspread. It was very comfortable though and plenty of spare pillows and blankets if you got cold. the flooring was wooden panels and the furniture was a dark wood, which all smelt very clean and new. There was a television in the room which showed news channels and childrens channels, however if you swithced it on after 9pm there were english films, programmes showing too. An air conditioning unit was in room, which was not noisy at all. The bathroom had a hairdrier, bidet, power shower, phone and was fitted out in granite and marble. There wwere also complimentary toiletries and towels were changed daily. The room had two ...

Terrazamar Suite, Grand Canary 16/06/2006

Terrazemar Suites 3* Apartments

Terrazamar Suite, Grand Canary Situated in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria I usually stay 4*, however due to all the good reviews online I decided to book this. Very pleased I did. Bedrooms very comfortable and maids came in to change sheets twice a week and cleaned 5 times a week. Very clean, loads of wardrobe space, but only 6 hangers in each wardrobe. In kitchen, a bottle of water is supplied (in fridge) for when you arrive. Also supply tea towel and washing up liquid. Very well equipped, but no oven or grill. The apartments had ceiling fans as opposed to an air conditioning unit. Location is brilliant if you go out of the back gate at the bottom. 3 minutes walk to restaurants, shops, bars, clubs, however not noisy at all. Certainly the best apartments with regards to location as Puerto Rico can be quite hilly and these apartments would be suitable for the less mobile. The balcony was massive. The entertainment was good as was the food, mind you we ate out most nights. Would highly recommend the mini golf course and San Miguels restaurant. About 15 minutes walk to both harbour and beach. Would go back again to Terrazamar - excellent location and great apartments. ...

Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking - Allen Carr 13/10/2005

You've tried the rest....now try the Best.....

Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking - Allen Carr I have been a smoker since age 18 and I am now 38. I have tried on three different occasions to stop smoking (I did succeed but for only a couple of months at a time). I was beginning to feel I was a lost cause and hooked on these evil sticks of nicotine…………..that is until I read Allen Carr's Easy Way to stop smoking. I was recommended this by a couple of friends who had attended his clinic and stopped smoking. They were very heavy smokers and this made me wonder what the trick was and I was quite cynical about it. Unable to afford his clinic, the next best thing was his book. I was surprised to learn that Allen Carr himself was actually an accountant who smoked 100 cigarettes a day himself and spent a long time considering the reasons why he was so terribly addicted to nicotine. He found a method that evolved into what he calls "the easy way". This book has sold over 2 million copies. I started to read this book and once into it, I found it hard to put down. It is very positive and doesn't dwell on the negative scare-tactic effects of smoking. It breaks down in chapters the reasons why people smoke and explains why we think that stopping will be such a massive wrench. It explodes several myths about smoking and puts the reader into the right frame of mind to quit, exploring attitudes and discussing the minimal effect of nicotine withdrawal, using suggestion to reinforce the message. The book is written simply and honestly and to be honest having read it I really ...

moneysupermarket.com 07/07/2004

Search no more Moneysupermarket is THE store!!

moneysupermarket.com I found this site when I was busy searching online for renewing both my car insurance and travel insurance. I would say this is the best site to research and buy the best value financial products available in the UK today, and it is certainly the only place I look as a provider of any financial services I require. The site is bright, colourful and clearly laid out. On the left hand side you will see the main menu, which gives you options to search for any of the following type of product and market information:- Mortgages, Loans, Credit Cards, Insurance, Refused Credit, Savings, Savings, Current Accounts, Pensions, Flights, Business Finance, share dealing. The site is really easy to navigate and for many of the products I was enquiring about, it was a simple question of answering a few really basic questions before you are directed to a list of products and providers. There are huge amounts of suppliers, and they are presented to you in cost order, lowest cost first. In the example of searching for a high interest rate for savings it allows you to search for companies by several options which includes easy access accounts, notice accounts, bond or term accounts or regular savers. There is also an option to narrow it down in terms of how much you want to save each month, what terms you’d like and what withdrawal notice you prefer if any. You can click on each product individually to get the fine print and to see specifically what is included and what is not and for more ...

Nikon Coolpix 995 04/07/2004

HAPPY SNAPPING Nikon fans........

Nikon Coolpix 995 This camera is an excellent high quality camera which is packed with features. I would highly recommend it to serious photographers and enthusiasts. It has 3.34 Mega pixels and gives you excellent pictures, with the only drawback being the bulky size. I got bought it as a present about two years ago; I think it was from Jessops for about £500. It came with a 16 MB flash memory card, Li-ion rechargeable battery and charger, PC and TV/VCR connection cables, leather case and manuals, Nikon View 4 software and editing/managing software packages (Adobe Photoshop 5.0 and Jessops Print net. The picture quality is fantastic with very realistic colours and the exceptionally sharp and clear images are definitely worth the money. This Nikon is crammed full of features, and it only has a few buttons but can be time consuming having to get accustomed to all the possibilities you have. If you enjoy sitting down reading a manual though, and have the time to practice with it on different settings, you will surely amaze at the results. This camera can operate in either two shooting modes (auto or manual) or a playback mode, all selectable through the same mode dial. The easiest way for getting started is the automatic mode though where everything is set for you. If not read the manual which comes in a simple easy to read style with diagrams too. Each of the three available modes offers an impressive choice of menus (displayed on a very bright 1.8” TFT active matrix colour LCD), ...

Anger Management (DVD) 04/07/2004

Just what the doctor ordered........HILARIOUS

Anger Management (DVD) This is one of my favourite comedies that I can watch over and over again. The cast includes Adam Sandler, Jack Nicholson, and Marisa Tomei as the main characters. Other people are Luis Guzman, Woody Harrelson, John Turturro and Heather Graham. We are introduced to Dave Buznik (Adam Sandler) & Linda (Marisa Tomei), who are a couple with a few problems, namely Dave’s intimacy issues and his reluctance to stand up for himself in his job. On board a plane trip for a work meeting, Dave is accused of assaulting a flight attendant in a particularly funny scene and is then sentenced by a court to undergo anger management therapy, with a doctor called Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson). Buddy diagnoses him as having implosive anger, the sort that is bottled up inside until you snap and shoot everyone. The movie progresses on from there as Dave gets driven mad by Buddy’s extremely unorthodox methods. Dave reluctantly accepts the doctor’s counseling, but after another mishap Buddy then moves in with Dave, wrecking havoc with every aspects of Dave’s life. Dave then must decide whether to crawl back into his shell or finally stand up for himself. Whilst attending his anger management classes Dave meets a lot of interesting, strange people. They include Chuck (John Turturro), a REALLY angry war veteran of Grenada, along with Lou (Luis Guizman) a gay Puerto Rican who beat his boyfriend up, and then there is January Jones and Krista Allen a pair of lesbian porno lovers. ...

Breville AWT Juice Extractor 04/07/2004

WOW... This is a dream machine!

Breville AWT Juice Extractor I am someone who hates cooking, and as I live alone do not get my full quota of fruit and vegetables, because you start off with all good intentions to have healthy meals, only to find out everything you have bought has gone off! I thought about buying a juicer which would ensure I got my daily nutrients in, and having read lots of reviews on juicers I decided to opt for this particular model. I believe that the AWT (Antony Worrall Thompson) juicer is the best juicer on the market. It is manufactured by Breville and is also known as the JE2. The Breville AWT Juice Extractor is sold by Argos, Comet, Curry’s and department stores and retails at around £90. I actually bought mine on www.ebay.co.uk though and managed to get it for £51 via a company in Milton Keynes called Geneva Industries. It was classed as a graded product which basically meant the box was a little tatty, but it still came with a three month guarantee and I have had no problems whatsoever. As prices change a lot I would suggest you go into www.pricerunner.co. uk to compare the latest prices on it. This Juicer is a “Centrifugal” Juicer. This means it grates the fruit or vegetable and passes the grated foodstuff through a stainless steel micromes filter which rotates rapidly. There are some lethal moving parts in this product. Centrifugal juicers allow more oxygen into the juice than the more expensive juicers, and therefore the juice should be drunk within a few hours, before it starts oxidizing. It ...

Hygena Kitchens 18/01/2004

Hygena Range is the Best, good price and range

Hygena Kitchens I recently visited MFI to look for Hygena Kitchen Units and was very impressed by their range and prices, but the delivery times were too late. This is when I realised that Curry's over the same range as MFI, but there delivery times are quicker for some reason. I had also previously visited B&Q, Wickes, Moben and Kitchens Direct (don't go there!!! see my review on them). After having had my measurements taken and a colour printout in store I ordered the Ancona Beech range. Delivery time was about two weeks, and I was very very impressed as when the 47 boxes arrived they were packaged well, no damages, and all the fittings were there. The Units were strong, easy to fit, and look amazing in my new Kitchen. I would highly recommend Hygena from Currys to anyone contemplating a new kitchen. I paid less than £900 to have my kitchen units. I would however recommend getting a private fitter in, as they did want to charge me £1200 to fit, whereas I found someone who did it for £700. www.currys.co.uk or www.mfi.co.uk ...

Lexus LS 400 18/01/2004

Elegant luxurious class

Lexus LS 400 What can I say.........this car is the smoothest, most comfortable ingenious motor I have ever driven. It may not have the best looks or fuel consumption, but there is nothing more a consumer could ask for in this car. It has a 4 litre V8 engine with 32 valves, double twin camshafts, and 281bhp at only 5,600rpm. ge. It does sppeds of 0-60 in a mere 6.7 seconds, and fuel economy is approximately 23-27mpg. It is quiet, smooth, has satellite navigation, heated seats both front and rear, individual heating controls for driver and passenger. The seats are operated electrically, no manual buttons whatsoever. The leather finish is smart and well finished. The engine is so quiet , you wouldnt even know it had been started! Large electric sunroof, and also has proper air conditioning. 5 disc cd player as well as radio, tape etc I do not know of any other car that could possibly beat this model. ...

unbeatable.co.uk 18/01/2004

UNBEATABLE BY NAME, UNBEATABLE BY PRICE.

unbeatable.co.uk There are so many online companies selling Electronic and Electrical products, the choice of shopping sites is mind blowing. I was looking to make a purchase for Six Fully Integrated White Goods for my new Kitchen that was being fitted beginning of January. (I would like to say this is my first time at purchasing Larger goods from an online site, and at first I was very wary) Before making my purchase I looked around both in the shops and on every online store comparing prices, delivery times, and warranty etc. I also had to take into account that I live in a second floor flat and lots of companies will NOT deliver to anywhere apart from ground floor, and the ones that will deliver higher usually charge. I telephoned Unbeatable and was pleased to be told they would arrange two drivers to deliver to my top floor flat at no extra charge. I found www.unbeatable.co.uk from the search engine www.pricerunner.co.uk. and was also very impressed that they price match if you find any prices elsewhere cheaper, or even if their own prices go down from when you order to when you receive the goods. In actual fact from me ordering on the 17th December and on Boxing Day the prices had reduced slightly, so I telephoned Unbeatable who sent me a cheque for £47 immediately with no quibble to cover the price reduction. I was very impressed by this. They also said if they went down again, please phone them back. As is turned out to this day the prices have actually increased to what I ...

Netdoctor Alphosyl 2 in 1 Shampoo 16/11/2003

Excellent Shampoo for itchy, flaky scalp

Netdoctor Alphosyl 2 in 1 Shampoo I suffer with dandruff and an itchy scalp. After having tried many shampoos over the years, I received a sample of Alphosyl through the post, and thought I would try it. I was amazed to find that it worked really well. It is a 2 in 1 scalp cleanser, so it keeps your hair conditioned well. It contains coal tar and has a lovely smell to it, yet isn't too overpowering, like some medicated shampoos. When you apply it your scalp tingles and it makes it feel really clean immediately. It got rid of my dandruff and stopped itching as well. I would reccommend it to anyone who suffers with dandruff and itching. I would say I wash my hair every 3-4 days, and use it on every other wash now. The price may be high at £5.69 for 200ml, but it is definately worth a try. It comes in a plastic bottle with a flip top lid. It can be purchased from most supermarkets, chemists such as LLoyds pharmacy, Tesco's, etc ...

Kitchens Direct 16/11/2003

"Buying direct Saves you £1's"..I think not!!

Kitchens Direct I have been looking at getting my Kitchen fitted and had spent a lot of time researching the best place to purchase from. I saw the adverts on television and through the internet advertising "Kitchens Direct". I contacted them because I had previously had quotes from Moben, Wickes and MFI, and thought perhaps this company would be cheaper/better as they state the following:- "Buying direct saves you pounds" "A salesperson will come round to discuss your needs" "Substantial savings on top name appliances" "No middlemen or showroom overheads, hence saving costs" "Choice of easy way to finance your kitchen" Well, I can honestly say that I would never go to them again, or recommend them to anyone else. Here is what happened from start to finish..... I rung Kitchens direct on their freephone number. Tel: 0800 123 321. A very polite lady answered the phone and I said I would like an appointment as soon as possible with view to just getting a quote. She said a salesman would be out to see me the following day at 7pm. I thought this was excellent quick service, and I asked how long he would be in my home as I knew exactly what units I wanted and had already got all the measurements. She said they only stay maximum of 2 hours. The salesman arrived at 7pm and appeared very friendly and helpful. I was quite honest with him and said I wanted a reasonably priced Kitchen with cheaper appliances (as I do not cook much) and had got the measurements and layout already ...
