Naturediet Adult Lamb with Vegetables & Rice 02/03/2011

A great dog food for a great dog - Naturediet

Naturediet Adult Lamb with Vegetables & Rice When I first brought my little puppy home wrapped in a blanket and with paws that were just way too big for him we also had the remains of the food that the dog breeders had been feeding him, which was Bakers puppy food. At that time I didn’t know much about dog food but I released from reading the back of the bag that this was filled with all manner of things that didn’t amount to the healthiest and best dog food. A bit of trial and error later he settled onto a premium dry food that suited his tummy and he has thrived on it. However, I can’t imagine that eating the same dry food for every meal would be that exciting or satisfying not that I have ever noticed his disapproval. Therefore, personally I have chosen and I try to give him a mix of wet and dry food at least for most of his evening meals. The first time I bought wet dog food I was in Tesco and I picked up Pedigree Chum puppy food pouches, thinking that they looked fine and sounded nice. However, when I got home I was a bit surprised to find that there wasn’t that much meat in them but a whole host of other ingredients that didn’t sound that appetising, so off I went researching wet food as I did his dry food. I quickly learned that dog food is definitely not all equal. I decided that Nature diet premium range dog food was going to something that I wanted to try him on. I have a very unfussy dog, so far in his life he has eaten pretty much anything that I have given him, I think it is me that is far fussier ...

Vital Visiglo Dog Collars 22/12/2010

A must for night time dog walking - Visiglo Dog Collar

Vital Visiglo Dog Collars Company of Animals Visiglo Dog Collar I am lucky enough to own (or be owned :) by) a lovely labradoodle dog that I wouldn’t change for the world, he is an all black haired pup that has all the usual enthusiasm and energy you would suspect, which is never usually a problem because I love walking him. However, in these cold winter months where there just isn’t as much sunlight as you would wish for it can be a bit disconcerting when you are looking frantically around for your dog only for him to suddenly bark at you from behind. He doesn’t even have one hair of another shade on him and although right now he stands out fantastically well in the snow, when it is not here he can be almost impossible to spot even meters away at night time. We live in the country and even the end of our back garden can be pitch black, something I have grown to like but it took some getting used to after years of living in the city. Before I came across these collars I had tried the dangling lights that you can attach to the dogs regular collar onto the metal hoop also used for the lead. In my experience these have been less than successful and don’t really produce enough light for any real road safety, and more often than not they get buried in his fur and go unnoticeable, or they have been of a rather poor quality and generally have been unreliable. That was when after a recommendation from a friend a couple of months ago I decided to invest in one of these Visiglo LED dog collars. The ...

Vital The Baskerville Muzzle 01/12/2010

When used correctly they are an excellent tool

Vital The Baskerville Muzzle Baskerville Muzzle I never really liked the idea of having to use a muzzle on a dog, I have only ever been around big softy lumps of dogs that have never needed them. However, lately I have been appreciating that there is a whole host of reasons that people would need and use a muzzle for. If you have read my other pet reviews you will know that we have recently added a lovely furry addition to our family. A rather large three month old labradoodle, who I adore but who has already caused me more stress than I was prepared for. I left him for an afternoon at a relative’s house and when I came back to collect him he had been eating stones. In total he had eaten somewhere between 50 and 60 pebbles, his belly was rock hard and I knew that there was something wrong with him. After consulting the emergency vet (who was lovely) the best we could do was keep a careful eye on him and hope that he passed them without complication. Thankfully, he did and I once more have a healthy pup. However, he has picked up a bad habit that he doesn’t show any signs of stopping, he is a walking mouth. Luckily this problem only occurs outdoors, in the house he is an angel and doesn’t look at anything but his own toys. It is still a problem that needs to be tackled and it is difficult to get a young pup to stop doing something that he finds fun. It is too dangerous to simple ignore this behaviour and hope that it will stop, so after doing some research into it and talking to the vet we decided ...

Bare Escentuals Full Coverage Kabuki Brush 23/07/2010

Bare Escentuals Full Coverage Kabuki Brush

Bare Escentuals Full Coverage Kabuki Brush I received this brush as part of a gift set in a Christmas present. I love makeup brushes and I use them for numerous makeup products such as lips, eyes, etc. However, I wanted an all round brush that I could apply powder with. I was lucky enough to be given the Bare Escentuals Full Coverage Kabuki Brush. Although the brush may look a little stumpy in the photo above, it is very easy to hold and very easy to use. I think at the beginning a few stray hairs found their way from the brush and unto my face, but that hasn’t happened in quite a while. The brush really feels nice against your skin, I’ve used some cheaper ones in the past and I can tell the difference in quality between those and this one. I don’t use the bare minerals foundation instead I prefer a liquid foundation so I tend to use this brush for everything else. I use it for applying powder, bronzer and blusher. I find that with this brush all my powders and bronzers tend to go on really well and even, while getting good coverage. Because the brush head is quite large it is good if you are in a bit of a hurry, a few sweeps over with a bit of powder and blusher and I feel like I look half decent. --So is this wonder brush expensive?-- Well, yes. It is typically retailing from the Bare Escentuals counters for a whooping £24. Is this value for money? I’ve had mine for the last seven months and I have used it nearly every day and with a bit of care and attention it is still in tip top condition. I expect this ...

Boots No.7 Quick Cover Blemish Stick 23/07/2010

For the times when we would just rather hide - Boots No 7 Blemish

Boots No.7 Quick Cover Blemish Stick Boots No 7 Blemish concealer Most days my skin is relatively well behaved but like every women out there I always have the odd blemish that I would rather no-one noticed. I have had quite a few concealers, usually when one is coming to the end I go in search of another replacement. This was my latest purchase about three weeks ago. Four shades are available from Boots No 7; extra fair, fair, medium and dark. I own the medium shade which is still pretty fair in colour; I was surprised to find that I needed that shade rather than the fairer tones because I am naturally fair in complexion anyway. Any one that maybe requires a medium tone might have to try the darker shade. --As a concealer does it work?-- Personally, I don’t think it is the best for use with dark circles under the eyes, I find it a bit to dry for those areas. This isn’t a problem for me because I have concealers that are specifically meant to fix this problem area, as I am a bit of a troubled sleeper. Dark circle concealer is a must for me. If you do purchase this make sure that this isn’t something you want from this concealer, if it is it might be better tracking down a more all rounded product. The packaging is rather attractive for a concealer, it looks like a lipstick container which means that it is easy to throw in your bag and carry with you throughout the day. A word of advice thou, don’t apply the concealer on directly from the stick, it can go on too thick and rather uneven. Personally, I find ...

Dior Miss Dior Cherie Eau de Parfum Spray 30/06/2010

A great all day and everyday perfume

Dior Miss Dior Cherie Eau de Parfum Spray Christian Dior: Miss Dior Cherie, Eau de Parfum My brother bought me this as a Christmas present and I was pleasantly surprised by his choice. It was a perfume that I hadn’t come across before and had no idea what to expect when I first sprayed some onto my wrist, but from that moment onwards I found that this had rapidly become my new favourite perfume. --The fragrance-- The fragrance of any perfume is why I ultimately choose that one over another so I consider, as I am sure do most people do, the smell of a particular perfume to be the most important factor when making a decision of what to wear. I have to admit that other than appreciating the noticeable floral underpinnings of the perfume I cheated and looked to see how Dior’s website described the smell, they say there are notes of blood orange essence, neroli essence and patchouli essence combining to create the Miss Dior Cherie’s unique smell. In my opinion, I find that the fragrance stays fresh and the smell remains for hours after application. --The price-- This is an expensive perfume retailing on Amazon at £48 for a 50ml bottle. I think the price of this might put some people off buying it but in my opinion I think it is worth it. In general, perfume lasts for a long time and longer still if used sparingly, it is nice to have a little luxury in your life and this perfume makes me feel like that. It is a beautifully smelling product and has become one of my favourites; I wear it through the day and in the ...

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish 29/06/2010

A little bit of luxury to my night time routine

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Liz Earle’s cleanse and polish hot cloth cleanser Liz Earle’s cleanse and polish hot cloth plant-based cleanser has been one of their best selling and multi-award winning products. It was a review of this cleanser in a magazine that first introduced me to the Liz Earle brand and since then I have become a regular customer and never looked back. --So why do I like this as a cleanser?-- It does have a rich and creamy appearance and texture that feels really luxurious and disappears into your skin when massaged on, leaving a fine and see through coating of the cleanser. One of the real positives of this product is the ability to remove eye make-up. No faffing about using different products for different things, this does both; cleans your face and removes eye-make-up. It does say that it is suitable for all skin types, I have rather sensitive and occasionally dry skin and this works beautifully for me. It has never left my face feeling dried out or tight after washing with this, I do apply a night cream after use but I never feel like I am rushing to get the moisturiser on, which has happened with other cleansers. The ingredients include (but are far from limited to) cocoa butter and purifying eucalyptus. It is the smell of eucalyptus that predominantly gives this product its lovely fragrance. Personally I love this smell, I think it is simply one of the best smelling skin care products I own. But I can imagine that this scent isn’t for everybody and it is quite strong, ...
