Denman Thermoceramic Rollers 18/06/2015

They do the job...

Denman Thermoceramic Rollers When I bought my Denman hair rollers I was new to using them, having only ever used the electrically heated rollers on my hair before. I had tried creating waves with my GHD's for a night out but it always took some time to do and so my friend recommended I try hair rollers and just leave them in my hair for a while whilst doing other stuff and let them do their work! I bought the XL rollers as these are designed to create big waves/curls. The smaller the rollers are then the smaller the curls will be. I got 4 rollers in my pack, the larger the rollers are then the less you get in a pack, as then you won't be needing as many rollers in your hair. The 'Thermoceramic' anti-static coating on the Denman Self Grip Rollers helps to retain the heat from the hairdryer, to create better, longer-lasting curls. The self-grip metallic thread on each roller smooths and adds shine to the hair. My hair is naturally curly anyway but I often straighten it for a night out and then I like to make my own curls if I want them. However, as you apply the rollers in wet hair and then dry it with the rollers in, I could not straighten my hair first as I did not think the rollers would work as well on dry hair as they need the heat to work. I did as you are supposed to and after a couple of hours of having the rollers in I blasted my hair with the hairdryer to get it dry completely. I did not like the results as my hair seemed far too frizzy and so I ended up using products and my straighteners to ...

BaByliss Pin Cushion Brush 08/06/2015

6 years on and still my favourite brush!

BaByliss Pin Cushion Brush This Babyliss cushion style hairbrush was given to me as a present that came with a Babyliss hairdryer around 6-7 years ago. It is exactly the same as the one shown in the image however the cushion part of the brush is blue on mine whereas in the image it is all black. If purchased separately it costs around £9 which I would never usually pay for a hairbrush, but as I mentioned I got this as part of a gift set. Babyliss hair brushes are available from Boots, as well as online retailers such as Amazon and eBay where you may be able to purchase it cheaper. Personally, if I was to lose it or if it finally gives up on me I wouldn't mind paying £9 for another because the quality of this I cannot fault and as my title suggests - it has lasted me years so far! Now for why I love this hairbrush so much... Firstly I have to mention that I have very thick and naturally curly hair, and so I need a big hairbrush for it. This one easily brushes through my hair without getting stuck, and doesn't break my hair. Yes I may find hairs left on it which I have to pull off every now and again, but doesn't everyone with every hairbrush? The bristles, or 'pins' are very strong and sturdy. I have just checked mine and all are still there except for one! All of the little ball bits that you find on the end of the pins are also still there. Sometimes I find that if the pins are a bit too sturdy then they don't bend slightly when brushing which can hurt your head, however I don't have this problem ...

Vera Wang Princess Eau De Toilette 08/02/2015

Feel like a princess!

Vera Wang Princess Eau De Toilette Vera Wang Princess is a perfume that I have loved for several years now, and since this original they have brought out many other limited edition versions such as 'Rock Princess', 'Preppy Princess' and 'Princess Night'. I have owned one of their limited edition bottles in the past, and have tested all of their others, but I still go back to this original one as it is my favourite out of them all. The perfume is available in three different sizes - 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. The style of the bottle is exactly the same for all sizes. The only thing that differs with the largest size is that the top has two parts to it - the actual lid which resembles a crown with jewels on it, and just below it a ring which is seperate to the lid itself. Whereas the smaller sizes just have the lid all attached as one. Personally when I owned the larger bottle I kept the ring on the bottle all the time anyway, it isn't the type of ring I would wear on my finger! ~ The Scent ~ As for the scent, this belong to the fruity-floral group. This is probably why it is one of my favourites, I seem to love a lot of scents that are described as fruity. Vera Wang describe this as... "It evokes everything from the magical and the mystical, to the fearless and the fascinating - dare to claim the Princess in you.Radiant and whimsical, Vera Wang Princess is a sheer, fruity floral – rich with vanilla and brimming with exotic flowers and succulent fruits. Princess is an enchanting celebration of modern ...

Ghost Captivating Eau de Toilette 01/02/2015

A gorgeous day scent!

Ghost Captivating Eau de Toilette I received a bottle of Ghost Captivating one Christmas as a gift. Until then I had never really heard of it or smelt it before, but I am a fan of a couple other Ghost fragrances so I had high hopes for this one too. "Ghost Captivating eau de toilette spray for women is a floral, fruity scent, opening with top notes of bergamot, mandarin, guava and freesia, blending with a heart of rose, peony, magnolia and jasmine, atop a base of orris, sandalwood and musky notes." I don't usually have a particular scent that I go for in perfumes, I just smell it and if I like it then I will buy it or ask for it as a present sometime! As I mentioned though I had never even heard of this one until I received it as a present. When I tried it out the first thing I noticed is the citrus scents to it, it reminded me of fruity flavoured sweets straight away. I am a huge fan of citrus scented products and so I am very pleased with the scent of this perfume. The mandarin notes is definitely one of the most detectable and powerful scents in this perfume and so if you like these kinds of scents there is no doubt that you will like the smell of this perfume. I apply this on a morning and as I have only recently started wearing it and it is a new scent for me, I have received a few compliments by people and have been asked what perfume I am wearing. However, even though I have received compliments when wearing this, I don't think the scent lasts very long on the skin. By the afternoon I can hardly's ...

John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Spray 27/01/2015

Good if used with other Frizz-Ease products...

John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Spray I have natural curly hair and so I often leave it to go curly after washing it by not drying it. It does go very frizzy though and I need something to calm it down and control the frizz, and make my curls look nice and glossy. I have been searching for ages for a product that does this well but have yet to find anything that does this. The curls won't stay glossy for long and always end up frizzy again by the end of the day. I currently use John Frieda's satin shine finishing cream, but as this is from the brilliant brunette range I don't always like to use this as I often dye my hair with a hint of red or purple in it. The finishing cream highlights the brown tones in your hair which I don't want it to do when I want the red or purple tint to be highlighted. I forgot I had mini Frizz-Ease products from Christmas that I received in a gift set and so I have just started to try these products. This Dream curls curl perfecter is 'step 4' in the process of achieving dream curls. It is designed to transform wilted waves and curls into sexy swerves, curves and spirals, and the alcohol free formula leaves hair super-silky, and never 'crispy'. It doesn't state anything about making your curls more 'glossy', but as this is step 4 I guessed there would be other products that may be used for making them more glossy. You apply this curl perfecter onto damp hair from roots to ends, distributing evenly. You then scrunch small sections of your hair gently to help create waves. So if you ...

Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Conditioner Red Raspberry & Silk 19/01/2015

Gives me beautiful ends!

Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Conditioner Red Raspberry & Silk I have tried a few different Herbel Essences conditioners but none of them I have particularly loved to go out and buy again. Instead I have just bought others until I find one, if any, that I really do love for my hair. My most recent purchase was their 'Beautiful Ends' range, from which I bought both the shampoo and conditioner. It is in a red bottle and contains red raspberry and silk extracts. The 'Beautiful Ends' range is designed to protect your hair against split ends and breakage. I thought this would be good for my hair as I blow dry it and then straighten it a lot. I have naturally curly hair and so it takes a lot of styling to get it straight, which is how I like to wear my hair a lot. I do end up with quite a lot of split ends and because I am wanting my hair to grow longer, I do not want to keep having to go get it cut at the hairdressers. However I cannot stand my split ends! I do understand this doesn't say it will improve or magically fix my already existing split ends, but I was hoping it would prevent them from happening as much when I started using this conditioner, especially as I am using it with the matching shampoo. The first thing I notice when I use this is the creamy texture of the conditioner. I do use quite a lot of it when washing my hair as it is getting longer now, but only a small amount will be required if you have short hair. My hair feels a lot more softer when I have used a generous amount. My little tip when conditioning is always ...

Clairol Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Shampoo 16/01/2015

Doesn't fix already damaged ends!

Clairol Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Shampoo I have tried a few different Herbal Essences shampoo's but none of them I have particularly loved to go out and buy again. Instead I have just bought others until I find one, if any, that I really do love for my hair. My most recent purchase was their 'Beautiful Ends' range, from which I bought the shampoo and conditioner. It is in a red bottle and contains red raspberry and silk extracts. The 'Beautiful Ends' range is designed to protect your hair against split ends and breakage. I thought this would be good for my hair as I blow dry it and then straighten it a lot, almost everyday. I do understand this doesn't say it will improve or magically fix my already existing split ends, but I was hoping it would prevent them from happening as much when I started using this shampoo. I do use quite a lot of it when washing my hair as it is getting longer now, but only a small amount will be required if you have short hair. VO5 Plump Me Up Dry Shampoo 12/01/2015

Plump me up quick!

VO5 Plump Me Up Dry Shampoo The last time I needed to buy more dry shampoo I noticed Superdrug had an offer on for any two from a few selected brands for £3.49. I usually always buy Batiste as it is the cheapest and does the job well, however I am always up for trying new products from other brands too. VO5's version of dry shampoo was also in the offer of any two for £3.49. As the 200ml can is priced at £3.49 each anyway I thought it would be a good time to try this one out, whilst purchasing a Batiste one to fall back on if I didn't like it. There are two different dry shampoo's to try from VO5, the 'refresh me quick' and 'plump me up'. I opted for the 'plump me up' one, but I have since tried the other one too and I must admit I couldn't notice much difference between the two. The description states: "revive dull, lifeless hair with this dry shampoo. Its formula with extracts of white tea leaves your hair looking and feeling clean and fresh. Perfect when going straight out after a long day!" The scent of this dry shampoo is a very fresh smell and so if you don't want a fruity, floral or any kind of scented dry shampoo that would bring attention to it, then this one will be perfect for you. Also for any men out there that use dry shampoo then I do think this is a good one for both male and females. I don't only use this after a long day when I am going out on the night, but also on mornings when I couldn't be bothered to wash my hair the night before or didn't have time to. I don't wash my hair ...

Label M Resurrection Style Dust 08/01/2015

Great for volumising my hair.

Label M Resurrection Style Dust Label M is a range of professional haircare products often used in hairdressers. I get my hair cut in Toni & Guy and they always use the Label M products to wash and style my hair. This resurrection style dust is one of the final products they would use on my hair if I wanted some volume in it. Very recently they have brought out a brunette version of the resurrection style dust, obviously designed for brunettes as the white one can be quite visible in dark hair if not worked in properly! Label m state: "Miracle powder designed to add incredible depth and iridescent shine to brunette hair tones for enhanced volume and dynamic texture. The fine, light and smooth particles easily absorb into hair for perfect distribution, effortless backcombing and the ability to revive and rework your style throughout the day by simply massaging at the roots." Up until the last time I went to the hairdressers they had often used the white resurrection dust but I had never bought any until last week after they used the new brunette one on me. Other hair product brands have brought out their own resurrection style dusts and so I ended up buying one from V05 over a year ago as I didn't like to use it everyday, mostly only for a night out and so I thought it would be a lot to pay for a Label M one if only using it now and again. The reason why I don't like to use it everyday being that it leaves your hair feeling very dry and with a sticky feel to it. However, the brunette one doesn't ...

Superdrug Effects Temporary Hair Colourant 29/12/2014

Quick fix for red hair!

Superdrug Effects Temporary Hair Colourant When I had my hair colour redsome time ago, I always thought the intense red colour that my hair initially was straight after dying it would disappear quite quickly, although my hair still had tones of red in it still, it would start to look dull. I didn't want to keep dying it often as it would ruin my hair. It wasn't until I read a review of this Superdrug Effects hair colour that I decided to give this a gomyself for the times in between dying my hair. My hairdresser had told me about a colour 'bomb' that you could buy from them at Toni & Guy for £15 which was a conditioner that also temporarily coloured your hair, so you would use it every time you wash it. I wasn't willing to spend £15 on it though until I knew if it was any good or not. I didn't know Superdrug did their own version until discovering it on DooYoo, and at only £1.29 I was very keen to try it out. The 'Colour Effects' is available in a few different shades, but the one I bought and reviewing is the shade 6.4 Rich Red. It is designed for light brown to mid brown hair. My hair is a very dark brown and so I wasn't sure if it would even work or not at first. However due to the low price I didn't mind taking the risk. ~ Directions for use ~ It states on the bottle to apply as much to the hair as required and leave in for 5 minutes before washing out, rinsing the hair until the water runs clear. It does not state whether to use this in replacement of your normal conditioner or not after shampooing. I decided ...

Logitech 967557-0120 23/12/2014

A reliable mouse & keyboard set.

Logitech 967557-0120 I purchased this Logitech S510 wireless mouse and keyboard several years ago when I was getting my own computer. I had previously used a wired keyboard with hot keys which was good, but it started to show signs of wear and tear and so I wanted everything new, including a mouse and keyboard. I wasn't too fussy but I did want a keyboard with hot keys by a trustworthy brand, and not by a brand that I had never heard of before. Also, I wanted it to be wireless, as having wires out everywhere can look messy, and even though they can be hidden behind the computer desk, they always get tangled up. For those of you that are unsure what hot keys are, they are extra buttons that you find on some keyboards that act as shortcuts. They are commonly used for when listening to music, which is when I find myself using them. I had gotten used to using them on the previous keyboard and so it was a must that I had them on my new one! You also have shortcut buttons for when surfing the web though such as a 'homepage' button and a zoom in and out shortcut buttons. I have never found myself using these particular ones though and after just testing them out there, they don't even work! You can go into your keyboard settings though and set each hot key up so that they will work, I have just never bothered to do this with them hot keys. ~ Price & Availability ~ I came across this set in PC World, and I already owned Logitech speakers which I was very impressed with and so considered this to ...

Boots Essentials Brown Hair Grips 19/12/2014

Essential in my handbag!

Boots Essentials Brown Hair Grips These hair grips by Boots are available in three different colours: black, brown and blonde. So if you don't have brown hair then these hair grips that I am reviewing may still be of good use to you as they are exactly the same as the others, just a different colour. They are available on the website as well as in store and are priced at £1.49 for a pack of 30. I purchased these hair grips several months ago when I had lost all of my other ones. It is a good thing that you get so many in a pack because I end up losing these a lot and then I find them again blotted all over the house! As they are so small and thin they are easy to miss! They come attached to the cardboard and so I keep them gripped on there until I get round to using them, otherwise my cat will find them and bat them about everywhere! These hair grips are very good quality and are good at keeping my hair in place. I have used many other hair grips by different brands in the past and some of them have been so flimsy that they have came apart or became loose after a couple of uses and so don't do a good job at keeping my hair in place anymore. When you grip sections of your hair with these, if the section of your hair is quite thick then it can make the hair grip stretch and become loose, and so I do find that these are good for small sections of the hair at a time, or if i am pinning all my fringe back then I will use a couple of grips to ensure it stays put. I also find these as an essential for ...

Toni & Guy Straight and Shine Smoothing Balm 18/12/2014

Smoothes my curls but not straight hair like it's meant to!

Toni & Guy Straight and Shine Smoothing Balm I received this Toni & Guy no-kinks smoothing balm in a Toni & Guy gift set I received for Christmas a few years ago. I actually ended up with quite a few of these and so still have some left from my last bottle, as I don't use it everyday and so it lasts me some time. This smoothing balm is designed for sleeker, straighter looks. It helps seal cuticles in an instant and the anti-humidity agents help combat frizz. The non-sticky formula creates sleek, glossy looks that last. I thought this would be perfect for my hair as I have naturally curly hair and so when I straighten it I need to use some sort of product to help control the frizz and to stop it looking kinky. To apply you rub a small blob into palms and apply to wet hair from roots right to the ends and the comb through. You can alternatively use this on dry hair to smooth it out even more, but I would only use a tiny amount on dry hair to prevent it from looking greasy. I used this on my wet hair almost every time I was blow drying it straight. However, I didn't feel that this product alone really helped keep my hair looking smooth. It did seem to control the frizz however kinks seemed to appear in my hair still by the end of the day. I was afraid that if I applied any more to my hair then instead it would just appear greasy. It wasn't until I ran out of the product I used on my curls when I left my hair to dry naturally that I found a purpose for this smoothing balm. I was looking through my stack of hair ...

Batiste Dry Shampoo Big & Bouncy XXL Volume 14/12/2014

I think I'll stick to the other Batiste dry shampoo's!

Batiste Dry Shampoo Big & Bouncy XXL Volume I have been using Batiste dry shampoo for a few years now after being introduced to it by a friend, and even though other brands have started doing their own versions of dry shampoo I have always gone back to Batiste as I think it is the best I have ever used and the cheapest. Batiste now have a range of different kinds of their dry shampoo as well as the original one. These include different smelling ones and ones designed for specific coloured hair. This big and bouncy XXL volume dry shampoo is one of the latest ones by Batiste and comes in 200ml. I have found that in most retailers that stock Batiste products, this XXL volume one is priced slightly more than the original ones. I got mine whilst on offer in Superdrug some time ago when it was any 2 for £3. It is now priced at £3.99 in Superdrug. It is also available from many other retailers such as Boots, and even supermarkets where you may be able to find it cheaper or on offer. I think that the original Batiste gives my hair a bit of volume anyway and so I wasn't prepared to pay more for this one unless it was on offer, when I could try it first to see if it was any better. I do like my hair to have lots of volume for a night out and therefore I only use this one occasionally and not for regular use. Dry shampoo is great for when you don't have time to wash your hair (or if like me, you simply can't be bothered now and again!) It can make oily or greasy roots look fresh like you have just washed your hair. Your hair ...

L'Oreal Elnett Satin Supreme Hold Hairspray 11/12/2014

Because you're worth it!

L'Oreal Elnett Satin Supreme Hold Hairspray The first time I ever bought and used L'Oreal's Elnett hairpsray was only a couple of years ago. I know it has been around for some time but I usually just buy whatever is on offer and at the time of purchasing, this was on offer at Asda at only £2 for 200ml instead of its usual price of £3.49. It is the limited edition Elnett hairspray that I am reviewing, which had Cheryl Cole's face on the can. It stood out from the others as the can was bright pink and black, and not like the can in the picture above. As the other Elnett hairsprays were not on offer I think Asda might have reduced this particular one to get rid of them as they were only limited edition, and I haven't seen them since. In fact, Cheryl is the only girl in the history of hair to replace the usual lady that appears on the can! Even if it was only for a short time. This is not the reason why I bought this though, and I didn't even realise this until I read about it in a magazine. I bought it just because it was cheap and I had read so many good reviews previously. The limited edition Diamond hold hairspary as it is called, is meant to offer your hairstyle a long-lasting hold with a diamond shine that is still soft to touch. The phrase 'diamond shine' to me suggests that it might be slightly glittery, at least this is what I thought especially after taking a closer look at the can, it was quite sparkly! However, this was not the case, and it is just like your ordinary hairspray. ~ Directions & Use ~ Just ...
