Sesame Street Elmo Pyjamas 08/03/2012

Lounge in Style with Elmo

Sesame Street Elmo Pyjamas My little girl is a huge sesame street fan, not quite unlike myself at her age. So, when I spotted these while browsing on littlewoods.ie, I had to have them. I'm a pyjama lover anyway...comfort before style is my motto! I own a selection of 'day' pyjamas aswell as nightwear. I'm sure I'm not alone in that respect. I have only one strict rule....they can be worn at any time of anyday...INSIDE the house. Seeing girls strut around the supermarket wearing slippers and jammies gives me chills of horror down my spine, I mean 'day' pyjamas are one thing..... **Purchase** As I said before, there was no second thought in this decision. They looked great in the picture and size wise there were many options, from 8 up to 24. There wasn't an option with regards to colour but the white / pink combo on offer looked fab. I love buying with littlewoods as you can pay in installments and this option was open to these pjs also. *~Price~* At Euro47.00 (£35.00) they were definitely on the expensive side. As pyjamas go they might have been designer for that price. Alas, that was not the case, unless you consider sesame street to be a designer brand, up there with Gucci, Prada and the like. Mind you, offer any of the previous to my five year old and you can guess which will win. As stated before, you can pay in installments on littlewoods (if you have an account with them), but still paying that price for pyjamas was a killer. Usually a £10 pair is considered a splurge in my ...

Samsung VC6013V 06/03/2012

As handy as henry!

Samsung VC6013V When my beloved Henry Hoover died in June (sob!!), I was hard pushed to find another that would be qutie as good as him (Yes, I personify Henry). He had lasted me over three years so I wasn't used to the vacuum market and had no clue as to what vacuum brands were considered efficient and effective. Granted, all I needed was something to suck up the dirt, but I didn't want anything that would need repairs often or need to be replaced soon. This particular brand caught my eye on amazon and I had heard great things about Samsung Vacuums from friends. ~~Design~~ I love the design of this brand. I bought the red one to add a dash of colour to the household as the black was a tad dreary. It also came in a dark green colour online but there are many more varieties in stores such as argos. It is a basic looking hoover, nothing fancy or unique. It has a plain dark red top that is removable with a black base and wheels and a dark grey hose, with a silver brush. Also, I found that the red colour was cheaper overall in price so in my mind, a bargain was received. Overall Euro119.99 was a good price to pay for a vacuum. My henry hoover had cost me nearly 200 in soundstore so I think it is quite cheap when comparing it like this. *..Features..* This vacuum is not bagless, but with a capacity of nearly 4 litres, it's not a regular occurence that I must change the dust bag. So far, in the four months I have owned it, the bag has only been changed twice (bear in mind, I have many carpeted ...

Apple iPod shuffle MB518ZO/A 2 GB Second Generation 06/03/2012

Fantastic little number ;)

Apple iPod shuffle MB518ZO/A 2 GB Second Generation I am a big music lover, as corny as it sounds, I believe that music does bring joy to alot of peoples lives. I mean, throw on a fast rihanna number or an upbeat michael jackson track and instantly you feel better. In every culture throughout the globe, people use music and want music in their lives. There are so many variations and periods from classic to jazz, pop, rock and soul. Its great, it really is. So much so that when I am out and about I love to throw in the earphones and get lost in a world of music to pass the time away while I travel from A to B. Doesn't everyone these days..........? **Ipod Shuffle** Originally my friend introduced me to this, back when my final mp3 player lived its last day, about 3 years ago. To be honest, as much as I love technology, I was a bit behind when it came to the new thing. But when she told me I could pick one up for under Euro100, I was bought. There and then! By price, and price only. I picked mine up in my nearest Soundstore where the kind store assistant talked me through downloading itunes to convert my music etc. (I felt like an elderly person buying my first mobile phone...."And what does this gadget do"....) Obviously I bought the pink version but I had a choice of blue and silver also. (Fancy eh) *Set Up* Getting it up and running was less difficult then I had thought. Simply download itunes onto your computer and sync the ipod through the usb connection. Easy huh, guess everyone knows how to do that in their sleep ...

GHD Mark IV Styler Hair Straightener 05/03/2012

Have a Great Hair Day everyday!!

GHD Mark IV Styler Hair Straightener Unfortunately I was not blessed with poker straight, sleek, awesome hair! So from a young enough age (12/13), I have been experimenting with the latest hair straigteners and products. A great hair memory from my teens is of myself and friends actually ironing our hair on an ironing board before a concert! The methods we were reduced to... I bought my first hair straightener at the age of 17 and at the time it was brilliant. It was a huge black squeaky contraption with massive heat barrels. It did the job though...until it broke down six months later and I was left with a nest on my head again. Oh the horror!! **GHD MARK IV STYLER** This straightener first came on the market big time in Ireland and the UK in 2007 and started becoming hugely popular a year later. At the time it was around €200 so it was a complete luxury to have and anybody who had one was considered the luckiest person ever!! "Purchase" I bought my one (the standard edition) on a total whim, the day before I jetted off to Spain on a girly holiday when I was 19! I had gotten holiday pay from work and felt like splurging on a new straightener! To be honest I considered it an investment as I was never happy with my hair and thought this would be the answer to all my problems! I paid €180 for it at the time (around £150), which was quite expensive. They weren't widely available so I bought mine in a top quality hair salon (peter marks). It is available at around €140-€160 nowadays which is quite expensive as ...

Ryanair - RYR 02/03/2012

Choose ryanair for a much fuller wallet!

Ryanair - RYR ervice RyanAir are a no frills airline. Its what they advertise as, its what they are. So why people complain about them "over-charging" and the like confuses me?? At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. I have flown with Ryanair a couple of times, maybe five times in total. No where fancy, just across to the uk or up the country to Dublin. I chose them based essentially on their reputation for never being late. They are efficient and that's all I needed....to get from A to B. If I wanted comfort, luxury and attention on my travels I would have chosen Aer Lingus or Virgin for my travels. But that's not what I needed so I went for the pennie saving option!! My first time travelling with them, I paid Euro50 for a return flight to Dublin. Euro50 !!! That's roughly 35 pound sterling. Roughly how much I would have paid for a train journey...one way!! So I chose to fly. This was quite a time ago now, in February 2007. So at that time, there wasn't extra charges for booking online or excessive charges for carrying on your luggage. Charges, yes of course (it was still ryanair) but not excessive charges. I was worried mainly about my luggage being over weight as I had heard through friends that you could be charged in excess of 100 euro for the extra weight. Luckily I was fine. That first journey I had no problems with them really. The flight was under an hour anyway so there was no time as such to panic. You had the option of where you wanted to sit, first come first served ...

HP ScanJet 5590 Digital Flatbed Scanner 02/03/2012

Scanjetting your way to a techy future......

HP ScanJet 5590 Digital Flatbed Scanner When I joined the company I now work form, back in September, I was somewhat of a techno-phobe, or maybe technologically challenged as some might say! Now I'm no martian, don't get me wrong, I can use my own laptop, printer, scanner, mobile etc...but after many attempts and mistakes! I'm the type of person that can be a complete whizz at anything ... given lots and lots of practice. **Flatbed Scanner**So as I said, I first met this HP Scanjet 5590 when I began work in my new office. To be honest, I was originally quite daunted because I had just gotten used to the printer and this new task popped up....eek! It definitely struck me first off as being of high quality technology and completely modern. I had only ever come across scanner, printer combos before, which as one would think, are huge contraptions but actually quite simple to use. The fact that it was a HP brand though, calmed my worries slightly. For those of you who don't know, hp is an american IT company, very well known for their software products. Walt Disney was actually even one of their earlier customers (handy trivia fact but completely pointless here).**Design**The scanner, as per its name, is quite flat. Not as flat as it appears in the picturebut sits nicely on the desk and doesnt protrude much. The only non flat bit is on the lid where the feeder is located. I quite like the flatbed design as I was more used to bulky scanners that take up room underneath the desk (because they couldnt possibly fit neatly ...

Garnier Intensive 7 Days Hydrating Lotion with Moisturising Aloe Vera 02/03/2012

Dare to don for amazing results

Garnier Intensive 7 Days Hydrating Lotion with Moisturising Aloe Vera Unluckily for me, I am cursed with "Winter skin", all year round...(booo:(!!). My skin is sensitive dry and gets horribly flaky and irritating at times.Not...a....pretty....sight! So naturally, I have tons of lotions and potions scattered around my bathroom all claiming to soothe dry skin and leave your skin feeling like a baby's bottom. All of course, to no avail!! The lotion I usually use is Jojoba Oil (Not quite as exotic as the name suggests!!). It works, but the second I stop applying it,Im left back at square one screaming for relief. So, I needed something new. Something original. Something hydrating....... **Garnier Intensive 7 Day Nourishing Lotion** I was drawn to this product originally when I spotted the tv advert claiming (as they all do) to give you softer, more supple skin in days. "Noticeably improved skin within 48 hours" , they promised. Needing a quick fix, I picked one up the next day at the shops. The sheer amount of choice was my first pickle. Moisturising Aloe Vera for normal skin, Softening Cocoa butter for dry, rough skin and Luxourious Cocoa for sensitive skin. I think it was the word 'luxourious' that got me. Yep, I'm always easily swayed by fancy words and even fancier packaging. I picked up the 400ml as opposed to the 250ml as I am not a believer in the saying "less is more". Less is most definitely not more!! At Euro6.24 for the 400ml, it didn't neccessarily come cheap, so I hoped I'd see results. The ingredients sounded promising. ...

Veet Normal Skin Spray On Hair Removal Cream 29/02/2012

Simply Spray On for Stunning Results

Veet Normal Skin Spray On Hair Removal Cream "**Hair Removal**" I have a fascination with hair removal creams. I only use it on my legs but I use it every time over shaving as it is quicker and easier and has longer lasting results. I usually use veet hair removal cream but had never used the spray on before so was fascinated to see what results it would bring. The normal cream can be a small bit messy to apply as you must do it with your hands so this appealed to me because you simply spray to the areas you wish to remove hair from. Brilliant idea in retrospect!! "**The Product**" Veet Hair Removal Cream Spray is a 150 ml can which comes with a removal 'shovel' type thing that you use to scrape off the cream. The can displays basic information such as ingredients used and what type of skin type it is for. I myself got the sensitive type but there is a normal skin version also. I paid €8.99 (£7) for the 150ml can which I found average enough as I would usually pay around the same for the packet of wax strips made by Veet also. I find that all hair removal products tend to be priced the same. "**Usage**" I applied mine in the shower as being a spray on version I knew it would go everywhere and get extremely messy. You are supposed to spray cream on areas where you want the hair to be removed (obviously enough) but this is actually quite difficult.....think whipped cream in a spray can.....it went absolutely everywhere. I was extremely glad I did it in the bath as my carpet and surrounding areas would have been ...

Can you imagine your life without internet? 28/02/2012

Pursuing a life offline.....

Can you imagine your life without internet? Could I live without internet? Is there a true or false, right or wrong answer to this question? My own answer to this would probably be yes. I could definitely 'live' without it. I could survive on a day to day basis and get through life without the means of internet....but how great a life would that be? So many people have mentioned that because we lived without the internet before, surely we could live without it again? However, because of the nature of our lifestyle today and how the world has changed socially in the past decade, I believe it wouldn't be possible for so many reasons.... I grew up in a world of great technology, I won't deny that. We had television, radio, mobile phones (just about). But we didn't have the internet. And we were happy. My days were full of toys, games and outdoor fun. Kids nowadays are embersed in a world of online gaming, social networking, emailing! What ever happened to old fashioned outdoor fun!! Chasing, rounders, hide and go seek! You can't get fun like that on the net. Although I have probably spoken too soon, more than likely there is an app available somewhere that offers the same fun to yougsters.... I was a teenager when the internet became fully fledged. We had dial up internet at home but rarely used it as it would take an age to load a screen. Everybody had the internet....but for convenience sake. You would sit and wait for a page to load for hours if it was important enough. Then it took off..... College was a ...

Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom Pyjama Set 28/02/2012

Sleeping over with ben and holly

Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom Pyjama Set My little girl is 4 and had her first sleepover a couple of weeks back with her cousin. For the big event (her 5 year old cousins bday party) she wanted new pyjamas so off on a hunt I went. After searching around the city for ages and finding nothing up to her standards...Yes four year olds have standards apparently...I found these on Mark & Spencers website first while I was having a browse and showed them to Sophie who loved them immediately. We went into our nearest M&S store as the online delivery wasn't nearly quick enough and the sleepover was only days away. She adores this program on tv so to find a pj set was like finding golddust as there are only dora etc available. This set comes with a pyjamas (top and bottoms), a pair of slipper socks with rubbered ends like on actual slippers and a neat little bag that carries them all for you. It is perfect for sleeping away from home. Very efficient. The sizes I found were quite small so if you are purchasing online maybe go a size bigger. I bought the 4-5 size which usually are quite big on Sophe but measuring them in the shop they seemed quite small. I was right as when we bought the 5-6 size it fitted perfectly, only slightly large with extra room to move and be comfortable. The bottoms were quite long which I didnt mind as we just rolled them up and it means she will get an extra bit of wear out of them. They had a great range of sizes available in the store which is surprising as when it comes to novelty clothing as a ...

Vaseline Lip Therapy Original 27/02/2012

Pocket Sized Miracle

Vaseline Lip Therapy Original I dread Winter coming around!! Each and every year, without fail, my skin flares up, drys out, I get riddled with colds and flaky skin. I am every dermatologists nightmare once late October rolls around. For years I was a E47 junkie! I had pots and jars of various creams that promised to cure dry skin and leave you feeling like a baby's bottom. All, of course, to no avail. My lips always come out looking the worst. Dry, cracked and extremely sore :-(! And on a cold winter's morning with 100 thousand things to do, the last thing you want is that annoyance. **My pocket sized Miracle** One glorious November morning, my dear friend (who was undoubtedly sick to death of my moaning and groaning, cursing my Irish pale skin) presented me with a (pink, no less) pocket sized Vaseline Lip Care . I had my doubts, from my years of endless lathering of body creams and lip balms. She convinced me to give it a go and that was it....no turning back for me...I had found my new BFF and we were together for life!!! One overnight application was all it took to relieve me of the soreness and a few days later I was feeling (and looking mind you) on top of the world. No exagerations! Few people understand the pain of trying in vain to find THE product that would change your life (and more importantly, lips). I use it daily now, not just in the throes of Winter to keep my lips in tip top shape and well hydrated. For chapped lips, just apply a coat of this every 3-4 hours for a couple of days and ...

Samsung S5230 Star 24/02/2012

Switch to samsung.....

Samsung S5230 Star When it comes to electronics, I am what you might call, clueless!! For phones in particular I am a disaster. I go through phones so quick. Every year I go through two or three different phones. Not due to chronic updating or a weird fascination with new technology. No No!! I lose them constantly...on the bus, in the store, at a nightclub..you name it, I've left my phone there. So that this particular phone has lasted so long is quite strange. I twas originally a hand-me down, from my boyfriend after I broke my previous Nokia (surprise surprise!!). **Samsung Tocco Lite** This phone was my first touch screen so at first I was a bit worried and definitely missed the buttons, especially for texting etc. The first thing i grew to love was the variety of features. The menu itself is easy to access. There are three touch options at the bottom of the opening screen for keypad, phone-book and menu. The keypad is essentially for making calls and the phone-book...pretty much self explanatory. The menu is great, its has 12 options - call log, phone-book, music, internet browser, messages, my files, organiser, camera(3.2 mega pixels), communities, applications, alarms and settings. Through these I can store images and games, music, dates and all important information. There is a radio that I can access,a bluetooth so I can connect with friends, upload pictures onto social networking sites etc through the communities option, store multiple alarms for different times, use a stopwatch and ...

Philips Senseo Coffee maker 24/02/2012

Enlighten your senses with Philips Senseo......

Philips Senseo Coffee maker I am a lover of all things coffee related and am always grabbing espressos as a pick me up throughout the day. I thought to myself, instead of spending so much money buying espressos in various coffee shops, I may as well buy my own espresso machine and save both time and money in the while. **Purchase** So I picked this up from Amazon for just over Euro65!! (Around £50) Quite pricey, but for the amount I was spending on espressos and coffees in a month, some might say a bargain. I later priced the same machine in both Argos and Woodies and discovered I did indeed get a bargain. It looked great in the picture on amazon and I needed a coffee machine, not badly, but enough to make me stop and think for a second while browsing. I wouldn't have paid this amount in a store as I'm sure if I shopped around I would have gotten a much cheaper one, but there you go, a complete sucker for online shopping, everything only a click away....! I got my one in the standard black version but it does come in a variety, much more of which are availble in stores as amazon only had the choice of red, black and blue. I figured black is fairly neutral and would match my own kitchen rather than the red which is very vibrant. **Use** Never having used any type of coffee machine myself before, I thought I was in for some tricky DIY and hours poring over an instruction manual in order to get it up and running!! It looked so complicated at first with all the different functions and buttons. Boy ...

Imperial Leather Precious Night Blooming Jasmine & Cottom Milk Bath Cream 24/02/2012

Relaxation in a bottle

Imperial Leather Precious Night Blooming Jasmine & Cottom Milk Bath Cream Imperial Leather! Just two words and instantly you know what I'm talking about. How big this brand is, and yet I've never used a single product. Founded in 1879, there have been many many generations to create and improve this brand. Which explains it's well known status I guess. Everybody ahs heard of Imperial Leather and many have grown up with their various soaps, creams and bodywashes. So I consider myself a cosmetic failure for having never tested a single product. Ever!! **Cusson's Bath Cream** I'll be honest, the first thing that attracted me to this product was in fact the price. Followed closely by the appealing packaging! It leapt out at me from the shelf with it's £1 price tag...cheaper than my bus fare home, and far more relaxing mind you. I am a self confessed cosmetic junkie. Pots and jars of all kind litter the house and even more bath creams, gels and bubbles. So, being a Friday, I decided to treat myself. And what was the harm in adding one more to my collection. It would stand unique against the doves and L'Occtaine's of my bathroom. **Packaging** As one of the factors that drew me to this product, I have to admit, the packaging is fairly rad!! As with most imperial leather products, it has the curvature of the bottle. A unique quirk of there's that gives their products a little oomph factor on the shelf. The deep purple colour stands out from the crowd of whites and blues and all those "relaxation colours. It is a feminine, romantic and quite ...

Boots No.7 Intense Volume Mascara 23/02/2012

No 7 not so intense mascara........

Boots No.7 Intense Volume Mascara As a whole, I really love the No. 7 brand. Their product range is so broad and diversified that you can always find something different and new. In the past, I've used their eyeshadows, bronzers and day creams. Now I religiously use their eyeliner, mascara and blush. With all the great 3 for 2 deals and Euro7.50 off vouchers, you will always find a great deal with them. That is how I came across No 7 Intense Mascara..... **** I have spent hundreds of euro in the past on useless mascaras, ones that would clump, dry out quickly or just make no difference to your lashes!! Obviously I'm fussy when it comes to mascara...isn't everyone?? We all strive for model perfect lustrous lashes, hunt in vain for mascara that goes on smoothly, lasts alllll day and gives your lashes that oomph that every model seems to perfect!!!**No 7 Intense Mascara** I bought this particular one on a whim one day. Boots are forever having offers on No 7 products, so when I found myself in possession of a Euro7.50 off voucher I couldn't resist. At around Euro13 then (£9.99), I didn't pay much for the mascara so found myself a bargain in all!! The mascara came in black, brown black and brown shades, as well as in waterproof black also. I chose the black as I find these give the best results usually for me. I was promised a wide eyed, intense volume look with this so could not eait to try it out. **My Experience**I found the mascara to go on quite smoothly. It had a great texture to it and did not clump or ...
