Vaseline Lip Therapy with Aloe Vera 19/02/2005

A Little Bit of Vera Always Does Me Good

Vaseline Lip Therapy with Aloe Vera Since being at college, all of my friends have always been good friends with Vera but it's only up until now that i've properly met Vera and have found her to be a very loyal friend indeed and when i speak of Vera i mean Aloe Vera. There comes a time when everyones' skin, especially lips become chapped, dry or cracked and i personally have a big problem in both cases but didn't really bother to do anything about it until my very red sore dry hands and cracked lips were screaming at me, but not literally of course. As i said above, all of my friends are loyal friends to that small vaseline tin carrying it around with them everywhere and applying it when they can as a type of fashion accessory as well as a wonderful therapy. So i thought to myself why don't i go out and buy some for myself seems as everyone else seems to have a tin of it? Before i bought this wonderful product, i clearly remember Vaseline being in those plastic pots being of a medium size and the smell of it being of a chemical plastic smell. When i was younger i remember my mum always applying this to my skin when i had dry skin or rashes and although the smell of it was quite off-putting it did do the trick. The fact that this memory has stuck with me, put me off from buying the normal small pocket sized tin of vaseline but as we have one and my mum uses it all the time i thought i'd use as well as smell it and i'm guessing the company has eradicated this smell and there's none whatsoever. As for ...

Member Advice on Keeping Your Cat Healthy 20/01/2005

What lovely bright eyes you have!......

Member Advice on Keeping Your Cat Healthy I thought this review would be a good idea to break through my writers' block as well as tell everyone some of my major depression issues i've been going through with my cat. However, this review, potentially covers one aspect of keeping your cat healthy in detail so be warned if your a bit let down. My cat Bill is 17 years old and up until now i've cried my heart out over him, worried and shocked. The reason for this is that before Christmas, his ears were all black and crusty (they had been for the past couple of years) but they had become so much worse during the last year. He would scratch at his ears and all he had to do was shake his head and these horrible black scabs would come flying off his ears spraying blood everywhere. Everyday this would happen, and to be honest i was getting sick of cleaning up the blood. For a couple of days, he would disappear and then come home again with his ears looking even more worse and i could actually see there was a lump on his ear - an infection of some kind. Once he had returned home, i tried to clean up his ears with salty water, which did cause him some discomfort but i think he appreciated it slightly. After having a discussion with my parents, we took him up to the vets and he took one look at his ears and said they had to be amputated, the reason being they were covered with cancerous lesions. When i heard this news i nearly broke down and cried. We knew his ears were cancerous and there wasn't anything we could do about ...

Strepsils Lozenges 14/12/2004

Fight Back With Some Extra Action!

Strepsils Lozenges Sore Throat Anyone? Yesterday i had the worst of sore throats that you can get........the ones that feel like you have a piece of barbed wire there and you can't get rid of it. This nasty piece of work in my throat was giving me agony for hours........until i popped downstairs and rooted around in my boyfriend's kitchen cupboard. I was going to use Anadin's but what was the point when i found a packet of Strepsils Extra!? But did the Strepsils meet my expectations? *************** ************* What does it look like? *************** ************* Quite a big packet actually, compared with a packet of Anadins with the heavenly words on it that instantly attracted me to this packet : 'Pain Relief for Sore Throats'. The packet i currently have in front of me isn't a normal packet of Strepsils but Strepsils Extra instead. As i have Blackcurrant flavour, the words 'Blackcurrant Lozenges' are situated underneath 'Strepsils Extra'. Just below that says, 'Anaesthetic and Antiseptic Action.' Inside of the box, contains two plastic trays covered in foil with 12 lozenges in each tray making a total of 24 lozenges. The actual lozenges themselves are of a circular shape and a dark purple colour. *************** *************** ********* What do the Strepsils Extra do? *************** *************** ********* [Info from the back of the packet:] Strepsils Extra Blackcurrant Lozenges provide effective pain relief for sore throats. The active ingredient ...

Animal Testing: Right or Wrong?

Everything that starts with A ... I've been very busy recently due to my college work piling up on top of me, but i noticed that one of the tasks relating to a particular assignment given to me a little while ago, was about writing the advantages and disadvantages of a chosen topic, which i chose Animal testing. I chose this topic as last year i was asked to do some research on it and then prepare a talk of the advantages and disadvantages of this very tedious subject. By researching i learnt that there is two sides to the story and thought this would be perfect to express to you what i have written for this task in my assignment as well as seeing whether you agree with it or not, however this review may seem slightly biased as i detest the pain and suffering inflicted upon innocent animals. The point of this review is to explain to you the pros and cons relating to Animal Testing and whether it is worth it in the end. ~~~~~ Animal Testing : ~~~~~ Within the UK there are hundreds of laboratories which continuously test on animals but whether they are inflicting pain upon these animals is something we are not always sure of. Safety tests are conducted on a wide range of chemicals and products, including drugs, vaccines, cosmetics, household cleaners, pesticides, foodstuffs, and packing materials. The safety testing of chemicals and consumer products accounts for about 10% to 20% of the use of animals in laboratories, or approximately two to four million animals. It raises issues such as the ethics ...

Couldn't use C so I'll Use Y for Yummy Choccies!

Everything that starts with Y ... These 'Everything from A-Z' things kinda suck don't they? I can only use one letter once - i can't use C again *sob sob* for what was going to be Chocolate so it's Y instead for Yummy Chocolate! A second installment to my wacky idea of asking a few Ciao members what they like to eat and why but instead of crisp flavours i have decided to base it upon your favourite chocolate bars. There isn't one person on this planet that i know that doesn't like chocolate with the exception of a few people - it can be sooo addictive at times depending on what it is. As before i have asked everyone, 'What is your favourite chocolate bar at the moment and can you give me a large description why?' Straight away i could see quite a few people like the same chocolate bar but with so many brands and varieties a few of you all like the same one - very weird but they are very lovely! So let's find out what the results were then: (from only one person liking a particular chocolate bar to several people liking the same one) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Any Chocolate! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ `·.¸¸.·´´¯`··.. · Jacky24: `·.¸¸.·´´¯`··.. · well i couldn't pick one chocolate I just love all chocolate especially at the wrong time of the month then i serously pig out on whatever choc i can get my hands on! LOL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nestle Drifter Bar: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ `·.¸¸.·´´¯`··.. · rdobbie: `·.¸¸.·´´¯`··.. · Favourite chocolate bar of all time: the Drifter bar!.... I think it's all in the ...

Crispaholic Ciaoers!

Everything that starts with C ... Well well fellow Ciaoers........a big massive thankyou to you all that accepted my mini challenge which was to .............. ' tell me what your crisp flavour of all time is and to include a large description as to why this is ' Not everyone participated in this mini challenge because i don't yet know everyone properly on here and for the obvious reason that i asked a few Ciao members but they could not get back to me for whatever reason.......if you didn't get back to me - don't worry and if you're not worrying then why not have a read of the research i collected from a few Ciao members! (Sorry to those Ciao members that know me fairly well and i didn't ask you) I couldn't find any products or anything on members' picks to write about as im kinda out of ideas at the moment but came up with quite a big idea to ask as many people that i knew or thought would participate in this lushious review about their favourite crisp flavour or flavours in some cases lol and publish all the wonderful flavours that different members have cravings for. Some of them were short and a couple of them just what i was looking for but the length of your ideas does not matter at all - i was just very curious to see what your favourite fetishes are when it comes to crisps as i revealed mine to everyone not so long ago! Also when i had gone onto other reviews, i was quite astonished as to how many people read, rated and commented upon my top ten crisp flavours and hope that this review would ...

Top 10 Foods 27/10/2004

;-) Fancy a Nibble? ;-)

Top 10 Foods A wonderful mouth-watering second review about food by moi and to top it all of, it is about TOP 10 Foods! It is a known fact that food is always at the top of our agenda of things to do, whether we cook it or just pop down to the local chippy to fetch something to eat quickly............... ............... ............but what are your favourite feasts? I could think of thousands of varieties and numerous dishes of food that i could consume on but my TOP 10? Well let me show you my wonderful menu............... ............... ............... ............... 10. ~~~~~ Spaghetti Bolognaise ~~~~~ A succulent italian dish which i frequently order when out and about in a restaurant. I love the long soft strands of spaghetti accompanied with the lushious mince in a mixture of ragu sauce. I haven't made this in a while but the more i think about the more i want to and love experimenting with this dish as i can add onions, mushrooms, maybe even some vegetables. I find this to be a gorgeous italian meal and especially delicious topped of with some grated cheese. Whilst in Spain i found this dish to be too rich and was disatisfied with it putting me off but the only true traditional taste comes from the italians. 9. ~~~~~ Broad Beans ~~~~~ This has got to be one of my favourite vegetables of all time, they're absolutely gorgeous. Most people i know either don't like them or aren't a keen fan of them. I have loved broad beans since a very young age and still do ...

Impulse Siren 23/10/2004

Turn a Few Heads and Raise a Few Pulses!

Impulse Siren We all love to smell nice and i definitely know that women especially love to smell nice being one myself and all! I find it really annoying when you walk past someone and they smell so nice you wish you were wearing their fragrance or had the guts to stop and ask them what that fragrance is as it smells so darn good! I do this all the time but a simple answer is to go out and buy some body fragrance that way you can make everyone else jealous as you walk past them! ;-) Through my years of using body fragrances i have particularly taken to the 'Impulse' range, it doesn't matter what one it is, i seem to like the majority of the fragrances by this brand and am especially liking 'Siren'. ~~~~~~~~~~ What other Impulse Body Fragrances can i buy? ~~~~~~~~~ There's quite a range of Impulse Fragrances you can buy but the main ones are as follows: .x. ~ Impulse Body Spray Temptation .x. ~ Impulse Body Spray Hint Musk .x. ~ Impulse Body Spray O2 .x. ~ Impulse Body Spray Spirit .x. ~ Impulse Body Spray Goddess .x. ~ Impulse Body Spray Oxygen Air .x. ~ Impulse Body Spray Zen ~~~~~~~~~~ What does the Impulse Body Fragrance Siren look like? ~~~~~~~~~~ It comes in a tube shape container - 75ml, not quite 15 cm tall and is very pale blue and silver in colour. On the front of the can is an X shaped object with blue, purple and white swirls on it and the words 'Impulse - Siren - Body Fragrance' below it. Instead of having a normal cap on top of the can the ...

My Favourite Season of the Year 19/10/2004

Brollies, Leaves and Spectacular Sunsets.......

My Favourite Season of the Year I thought i would write about my favourite season of the year because we are officially in it...............well for the moment we are anyway and this is known as AUTUMN! For this wonderful season i shall attempt some poetic verses but please bare with me if it is rubbish as i haven't had a go at poetry since i was in primary school so that's a few years back now!.............. ...............so here goes........... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My favourite season of the year is Autumn, Which i can assure you never makes me glum, Always and truely making me hum, And when this season is over it does indeed make me very numb! At times we wake up to a chilly start to the morning, Almost certainly making us do a lot of yawning, We sometimes see lots of mist in the air, With the fact it is Autumn this isn't rare. If you're up early enough at the crack of dawn, You maybe lucky to see some grazing fawn, But do indeed make sure you wrap up warm! I love it when all the leaves change from green to crispy brown, All the children playing in the leaves from cities to towns, Constantly jumping up and down, Making the people who do the raking frown! Not much of a good time for the best of the weather, But the winds always seem to be as light as a feather, However, lots of people wearing thermals almost certainly made out of leather! With the weather we either have good days or bad days, One thing guaranteed though is that Autumn isn't ...

How To Cope With Burglaries 10/10/2004

Hunni? What's that noise downstairs?

How To Cope With Burglaries Have you ever been burgled? ............... .......If the answer is yes then you will know how i feel on this subject and if you haven't then count yourselves lucky as it is one of the worst and fearful feelings in the world.............if you haven't been burgled this review maybe useful to you for when you are (touch wood) or how to prevent a burglar from entering your home. Throughout the years i have lived in my home i have come across not one burglary but at least three and it is not because the home isn't secure enough because it is but there are some low-minded people in the world who think burglary is the answer to everything. Being a victim of a few burglary issues i dread the moment the sun goes down until the sun begins to rise again. Not every burglary happens at night time as it can happen in broad daylight with mystery callers knocking at elders' doors and another person around the back of the house ransacking it while the owner is distracted. In this modern day and age, burglaries are not uncommon and in some areas the percentage of it is higher than others. Unfortunately we have to put up with this fact and it is up to us to protect ourselves against this evil crime. During a few days of the week i have the house to myself (at nightime) and the fact i have been burgled whilst i was asleep scares the hell out of me because i think it will happen again and it wouldn't suprise me if it did. The police aren't much use as they will take a statement from ...

Member Advice on Cats and Fireworks 09/10/2004

HELP!!! THE CAT IS ON FIRE!!!

Member Advice on Cats and Fireworks Cats and fireworks............... = a very bad combination. Fireworks can be carried out anytime of the year for whatever occasion because as far as i know fireworks are not illegal to be carried before the 5th of November. Yes that time of year is coming up when we all like to enjoy those spectacular yet beautiful colouful lights in the sky that go 'BANG!'. For the first few years of my life i loved going to events where the family and i would go to watch massive fireworks blow up in the air making the dark sky bright and beautiful. Although recently i have had some bad experiences with fireworks with them nearly blowing up in my face......luckily they didn't..........i dread the 5th of November. All cats i can imagine feel the same as i do on the 5th of November. Yes they're nice to look at but they're very dangerous and usually have a nasty sound to them which tends to deafen your ears. Cats have smaller ears compared to us humans and these loud sounds that fireworks make scares the s*it out of them and if exposed to them to long (if being close enough) could probably burst their ear drums. A few years ago as well as going to special events to watch fireworks, we would also buy fireworks from our local shop and perform the fireworks in our garden as a type of 'minishow'. It was quite good but we would always put the safety of our cats first as before starting the show we would make sure that they were locked in the house while we were in the garden so that they were ...

Top 10 Crisp Flavours 05/09/2004

Mmm Crispilicious!

Top 10 Crisp Flavours I haven't yet wrote a review about food but what better way to do it by writing about my favourite crisp flavours? I'm always eating crisps and would classify myself as a big fan of them............... .not long will i be wearing the t-shirt as well! Have a read of my top ten crisp flavours and see what you like out of them (if any.......) Let the countdown begin............... ............... ............... ............... ........ 10. ~~~~~ Walkers Mediterranean: Tomato and Basil Flavour ~~~~~ This flavour is new at the moment along with another two of my favourites that you will read about in this review. I love this flavour and what you see is what you get - a sumptuous flavour of tomato and basil mixed together giving you a mediterranean style. They are kind of orange coloured crisps with tiny chopped basil grains on them and once you have eaten one you are keen to eat the rest of the packet. The best thing about this flavour is that they leave you with an after taste of tomato as if you have just eaten an exotic meditteranean meal. 9. ~~~~~ Walkers Mediterranean: Feta and Herb Flavour ~~~~~ The second newest addition in the walkers meditteranean range of flavours. I'm unsure as to what 'Feta' is but they sure taste mighty good! I love this flavour and they feel cool upon the tongue and with the light blue packet the crisps, when tasting them feel as if you have just been swimming in the meditteranean ocean. They taste a lot lighter compared to the ...

The Village (DVD) 03/09/2004

The Village ...... scary? ...... fact or fiction?

The Village (DVD) This film has been on everyones' mind at least some point or the other but is it as good as it seems? ............... ............... ............... ........... I saw this film not so long ago at the cinema with my boyfriend and saw it within the first weekend of it being released. Like everyone else i was really hyped up at the fact i was about to watch a good old horror film as i had previously seen the trailer to the film at the cinema as well as on the television. When seeing this trailer i thought it looked really good as it had publicised the fact it was a 'horror film'. Within the trailer i saw these isolated people who live within a village that dare not cross the forbidden woods because of mysterious yet 'evil' creatures that live within the woods. To me this sounded really good as i love a good old horror movie with creatures killing people. As the trailer went on i learnt that the people who live within the village dare not associate with the creatures of the woods for they are seemingly frightened of them running for what seems their lives. In one point of the trailer i saw a woman picking up a red flower and then burying it under soil rather quickly. I shall let you know why ............... ........... ~~~~~ The Village has four rules concerning the forbidden woods: ~~~~~ 1. Let the bad colour not be seen. It attracts them. (The colour being red) 2. Heed the warning bell for they are coming. 3. One man should hold post in the village each ...

My Ciao'ing 01/09/2004

What a lovely Ciao'ing experience!

My Ciao'ing I'm having difficulty as to what to write for a review at the moment ...... until this Ciao challenge cropped up on my screen........you know what? I think i might have a go at it! I give a huge thankyou to ElizaF who has helped my mind block by setting this challenge of which she says: ‘This is a simple 25 questions on people's ways and means of using Ciao. I hope it will be fun to do and interesting to read. Leave a note in my GB when you complete the survey. I know I will really enjoy reading people's answers.' :) :) :) :):) :) :) :):) :) :) :):) :) :) :):) :) :) :):) :) :) :):) :) :) :):) :) :) :):) :) :) :) 1. ~~~~~ Full Name: ~~~~~ Oh dear the name issue again, well it's Siobhan (an irish name) of which you pronounce it Chevon and don't pronounce it how you see it. 2. ~~~~~ Ciao Username: ~~~~~ This weird ciao username of mine is technically my name Siobhan but with a Y on the end, the reason for this being is i typed in Siobhan and said that it had already been taken. The next best thing to my name is ? Siobhany and the reason for this is that my boyfriend calls me it instead of my proper name :-o 3. ~~~~~ Date when you joined the Ciao community: ~~~~~ Well my profile says i've been a member since the 10th of March this year but i didn't actually become active straight away due to the fact i thought Ciao would send me loads of surveys. Realising that they send me surveys once in a blue moon i started to become active about a month or two later ...

10 Things I Hate Doing 29/08/2004

It's all about the HATE

10 Things I Hate Doing Another review by moi about hate - what is it with me and hate these days? I think i'm going through a phase, but i feel the need for this review to be done and so i shall begin........ 1. Big big big hate of mine.....GETTING UP EARLY: Yes i think many people may agree with me on this topic but i really hate it when you are having the most wonderful sleep in your warm cosy bed and that evil alarm clock goes off for whatever reason you may need to be up. Luckily for me i am taking every advantage of my lie-ins before i go back to college but it won't be long before i have to hear that alarm clock of mine shouting 'Get-up!!!' (not literally of course). I've never been a big fan of getting up early in the morning and never will be but occassionally we all have to do it and for me it is going to be a continuous chore :( I wish we didn't have to get up early in the mornings for whatever reason and just be able to have a lie-in everyday or where and when we can that way everybody would be happy! 2. College Work: This drives me insane! I hate doing college work especially if i don't understand it and am very confused. Sometimes the assignments that i receive aren't to bad and throroughly enjoy them but if i look at it and i'm baffled then i begin to hate it and this seems to be a regular occurance. A couple of months ago before i finished college we had approximately fifteen assignments to complete within not quite two months and of course found this to be very ...
