VTech Baby Sit to Stand Music Centre 12/10/2017

Sing and dance with VTech..

VTech Baby Sit to Stand Music Centre Sit to Stand Music Centre *Manufacturer - VTech *Age recommendation - 12-36months *Product height - Approx 62x66x56cm (at tallest and widest section) There a few different variations of this music centre available to purchase but we own the design in the picture albeit in slightly different colours. This toy offers a multi-purpose play experience for inquisitive babies and toddlers. It requires adult assembly which involves inserting three screws in to the body of the toy and slotting it all together. Batteries are also required (3xAA). VTech advise that this toy offers children the opportunity to sing and dance to music as well as being able to try out instruments and learn about animals and colours. A one year product warranty is included with this toy. This toy retails at £29.99 on Amazon UK. Our Thoughts My son loves anything noisy and brightly coloured so when I spotted this in my local Tesco store, I knew I had to buy it for his 1st birthday. He was delighted to receive this toy and it is normally the first toy he goes to when he is playing in our living room. He is now 16months old. This music centre for fairly easy to put together. The assembly instruction booklet is easy to follow thanks to pictorial and written instructions. It didn't take very long for us to slot it all together (the same cannot be said for the trike which is still in pieces in our cupboard as no one can figure out how to build it) so this is a definite plus point for us. Once built, this ...

VTech Teletubbies Rock & Roll Po 03/09/2017

Rolling around with Po...

VTech Teletubbies Rock & Roll Po Rock and Roll Po Po is from the Teletubbies. There are many Teletubbies toys available for young children but today I will be reviewing 'Rock and Roll Po'. This toy is manufactured by popular toy brand VTech. This toy has an age recommendation 6-24months and requires 1 x AA battery (included for 'try me' purposes) and measures approx. 10.5 x 10.5 x 16cm. Po is designed to encourage sensory development, motor skills as well as cause and effect. Po has a few different features which can be activated by rolling her around and pressing the selection of buttons. There are three light up buttons, two musical buttons and Po's antenna can also be twisted. Rock and Roll Po is currently priced at £14.99 on Amazon UK. Our Experience My youngest son is 15 months old and has been a big Teletubbies fan from the moment I introduced them to him. He received quite a few Teletubbies themed toys for his first Christmas and also for his birthday back in June. This particular Po toys was a gift from his baby cousin at Christmas time and he was very happy to receive it. Now he is a little older, he does prefer bigger toys but Po does still get pulled from his toy box every now and again. This toy has been made with little people in mind in terms of size and design. She is made from sturdy, smooth plastic and is perfectly safe for little hands to explore. It is bottom heavy as you would expect as it needs to be wobbled but my son can now independently lift Po out the toy box whereas younger ...

Hub by Premier Inn Royal Mile, Edinburgh 28/04/2017

An affordable stay in the capital..

Hub by Premier Inn Royal Mile, Edinburgh I decided to book a night in Edinburgh for my husband and I for his birthday. I knew we wouldn't be spending a lot of time in the hotel so I booked this particular hotel over a fancy hotel. I paid £29.50 for one night at the Hub hotel on a Sunday night. Prices normally start from £49 depending on how far in advance you book. I booked around 2 months in advance of our stay and paid in full using my debit card. Hub by Premier Inn 37 East Market Street Edinburgh EH8 8FR Hub by Premier Inn is described as being a 'compact' hotel. There are two Hub hotels in Edinburgh (Royal Mile and Rose Street) but my review discusses the Royal Mile hotel. There is no onsite carpark and parking is quite expensive in Edinburgh. The hotel is a short walk from Edinburgh Waverley station and about a 10 minute walk from the Royal Mile. It is fairly local to shops and there is a Costa Coffee and other eateries nearby. Check In/Out and Staff Check in is from 2pm and check out is by midday. There is a manned reception desk but check in is done on a computer where you scan your booking email and input some details about the guests staying in the hotel. We were shown how to do this and it was a quick and straightforward process. Check out involved us handing our card in at reception. I also received an email confirming everything. We found the staff to be very friendly and approachable. They were quite casual in appearance as they wore trainers with jeans and a smart top - a bit unusual for a ...

Doubletree By Hilton Strathclyde, Bellshill 23/03/2017

Celebrating our special day..

Doubletree By Hilton Strathclyde, Bellshill Doubletree By Hilton Strathclyde After 12 years of being engaged, my fiance (now husband) and I decided to tie the knot. We didn't feel the need to splash out excessive amounts of money on one day. We wanted a civil ceremony, a buffet reception, DJ and generally a good time. Our decision to finally get married came at an ideal time as we spotted a deal for this particular hotel. The dates didn't match when we wished to get married but after contacting the hotel events manager, we were able to secure the same package for our chosen date in September 2016. This review discusses different aspects of the hotel so will likely be quite long. General Information Strathclyde Business Park Phoenix Crescent Bellshill ML4 3JQ 01698 395500 Check-in : 3pm Check-out : 12pm Rating : 3 stars This hotel has recently been rebranded as a Doubletree by Hilton Hotel. It is just 12miles from Glasgow City Centre and just off the A725 at Bellshill. It isn't ideal to get to by foot or bus but local taxi services are cheap and there is a large car park to the front and rear of the hotel. Parking is free for guests. The hotel is non-smoking throughout. Debit, credit and cash payments are welcomed. From the outside, the hotel looks really nice and the foyer area is welcoming and warm. The decor throughout the hotel is fresh, inviting and modern since it was refurbished in 2016. There is a 24hr reception. The reception area features plenty of seating to one side and a Starbucks to the other side. ...

Nicki Minaj Onika Eau de Parfum 06/03/2017

Summer sweetness...

Nicki Minaj Onika Eau de Parfum Onika Eau De Parfum Onika EDP is part of the Nicki Minaj fragrance range and was released in 2014. The official description for this EDP is 'a sexy, floral, fruity fragrance that evokes seduction with sensuous fruits, tantalizing florals and sheer musks'. The fragrance notes are as follows : *Top notes - mandarin, star fruit and pear *Heart notes - orchid, osmanthus and water lily *Base notes - white musk, cedar wood and sugar cane Onika EDP is available on the high street and online. Stockists include The Perfume Shop, Boots and Amazon UK. A 30ml bottle from Boots costs £12 (currently reduced from £24) and Superdrug offer the 100ml bottle for £40. Prices vary so it is best to shop around. My Thoughts Whilst I favour designer perfumes, my collection also includes a number of celebrity and cheaper perfumes for everyday use. Onika EDP was given to me by a friend. She had bought a bottle for herself and thought I may like it too so treated me. The bottle I have is a 100ml bottle. The bottle is very cheap and tacky looking in my opinion but I wouldn't expect any less from Nicki Minaj. The bottle is bulky, heavy and not one that I like to carry around in my handbag. The glass is moulded to form the shape of a female torso, shoulders and head complete with long black hair and a black bra - distinctive but still tacky. Okay, the bottle isn't to my personal tastes but the actual perfume is very pleasant and perfect for day to day use. It would likely appeal to a teenager ...

Milupa Aptamil Aptamil Follow On Milk 2 20/02/2017

Milk for weaning babies...

Milupa Aptamil Aptamil Follow On Milk 2 Aptamil Follow On Milk Aptamil offer a range of baby milk products. This review concentrates on the Stage 2 Follow On Milk which is suitable from 6 months old. This follow on milk is suitable for babies that are being weaned and features a 'Pronutra' formula. It contains fatty acids such as Omega 3 for visual development, iron for cognitive development and vitamins A, C and D for bone development. Aptamil is not suitable for vegetarian or vegan diets. The powder is Halal approved but the ready to use liquid is not. It is recommended that you make up each feed as and when required and discard within 2 hours of making. Baby powder milk is not sterile so needs to be scooped in to boiled water to ensure it is safe to drink. The water should be added to the bottle first and then measured scoops. The example used is 7oz of water and 7 x 4.9g scoops but you adjust this to suit your babies needs. Weaned babies need at least 1 pint of milk per day. A full ingredients list is included on the packaging and the Aptamil website. Each 100ml of prepared milk offers 68 calories, 3g of fat and 8.6g of carbs. Aptamil Follow On Milk is available in 900g powder tubs and also ready to use bottles (200ml and 1l). Expect to pay between £10 and £11 per tub and 85p-£3.50 per bottle. Our Experience I support both breast and formula feeding and do not wish to enter any debates regarding this. Both my children have been formula fed for various reasons. My first born was fed SMA but I do believe ...

Organix Organic Rice Cakes Raspberry & Blueberry 7mth+ 19/02/2017

Organic finger food..

Organix Organic Rice Cakes Raspberry & Blueberry 7mth+ Organix Rice Cakes Organix offer a range of food and snacks aimed at babies. They offer a selection of flavoured rice cakes but this review will concentrate on the 'Raspberry and Blueberry' flavour. These rice cakes are presented in a purple foil bag and is quite eyecathing. Each bag contains 50g (25 x 2g rice cakes). Organix promote their products as having nothing unneccesary added. The rice used is organic and flavoured with blueberry, raspberry and apple juice as well as a touch of vanilla extract. These rice cakes are suitable for stage 2 of weaning and recommended for children over the age of 7 months as they learn to feed themselves. They are suitable for vegetarians and should be stored in an airtight container once opened. A serving of three rice cakes provides 23 calories and 5.1g carbs (0.8g of which sugars). These rice cakes are priced around £1.25 a bag. Our Experience My 8month old son loves his food and we like to try him with a varied selection of foods and snacks so he can get a taste for everything. I was a little scared to try him on finger foods at first but he has shown us how confident he is with different foods so I am now able to put together a little picnic for him at lunch times including toast or a sandwich, some fruit and a small snack too. It is important to supervise babies whilst eating anything incase they choke. Our son enjoys sitting in his high chair and exploring the different foods. He does have a tooth and quite strong gums which ...

Anbesol Liquid 14/02/2017

Liquid relief for painful gums..

Anbesol Liquid Anbesol Anbesol liquid is designed to be used for relief from dental irritation, teething pains and mouth ulcers. It can be used from birth and is sugar free. This liquid contains antiseptic and anaesthetic for pain relief. The active ingredients are : *Lidocaine hydrochloride 0.9% *Chlorocresol 0.1% *Cetylpyridinium chloride 0.02% Alcohol is also included. Anbesol liquid is suitable for temporary use (consult dentist or doctor after 7 days) and can be used up to 8 times per day. For babies, one application is sufficient. Adults can apply twice if required. A clean fingertip should be used to apply the liquid to the problem area. It is recommended that you do not reapply until 3 hours have passed. It is recommended that you consult the pharmacist if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or if you are taking additional medicine. A 15ml bottle of Anbesol liquid can be purchased from Boots and other chemists for around £5.99. My Thoughts I have had issues with dental pain on and off for years. Painkillers don't seem to touch the pain when it does occur so I normally use Anbesol liquid to provide relief. Anbesol liquid was recommended to me a few years ago and I favour the liquid over the gel version or other brands such as Bonjela. I was quite shocked at the price I was charged for this in Boots but it has proven to be a worthwhile purchase for our home. The liquid is enclosed within a little glass bottle and is a golden colour. My bottle was bought a few months ago with an ...

Disney Star Wars Darth Vader 8" Tablet Case 05/02/2017

Darth Vader Vs Amazon Fire..

Disney Star Wars Darth Vader 8" Tablet Case Darth Vader Tablet Case We bought our 8year old son his first tablet last year and decided that he would need a few extra accessories to go with it including a case and headphones. I was pleased when I spotted this Darth Vader tablet case in my local Tesco store as my son is a big Star Wars fan and I knew he would appreciate this. This tablet case is priced around £14.99 and can be purchased from Tesco, Currys/PC World and Amazon UK. I feel this is a fair price for such an item. This tablet case measures approx 270x170x20mm and is fairly lightweight. It features a zip closure and is made from a thick, durable canvas material. This tablet case is black in colour and the front of the case features a moulded Darth Vader mask design which looks super cool. This tablet case can accommodate tablets at 7 or 8 inches in size. Our son has an Amazon Fire Tablet with a 7inch display so this case is the ideal size for our needs. The zip is secure and easy to open and close without becoming jammed. Our son does occasionally take his tablet out the house. Normally if we are going on train or bus rides, he takes it so he can play games or if he is going for a sleepover with his cousins as they all have tablets too. I always remind him of how important it is to look after his tablet as it will not be replaced if he breaks it. This tablet case offers the perfect solution as his tablet has some padding around it. This tablet case doubles up as a tablet stand and is best used like this on a ...

Tommee Tippee Baby Food Blender 04/02/2017

Basic blender..

Tommee Tippee Baby Food Blender Tommee Tippee Blender This Tommee Tipper blender is designed to blend up small food portions for babies. This blender features two speed options and also a pulse function, It has a maximum fill line of 250ml but the instruction manual advises a maximum weight guideline of 50g for potatoes, pasta and vegetables. This blender is supposed to be suitable from the weaning stage onwards. It can be put in the dish washer (top shelf) or cleaned with soapy water (excluding the base). The blender measures approx 20.2x15.6x15.2cm. This blender is currently part of the Asda Baby Event priced at £10. It can also be bought online from Amazon UK for £10 (Prime only). Our Experience We have been weaning our youngest son since around 18weeks. Whilst the recommendation is 6months, our health visitor supported our decision to wean him early. I won't say that I make all my own baby food as I don't. I have and do use some pouches and fruit pots for convenience but I am becoming a little more confident with preparing some of my own baby food for our 8 month old son and he also has finger foods he can eat himself. I spotted this blender in the previous baby event at Asda and decided to purchase it. I believed, at the time, that £10 was a great price to pay and I am confident in using the Tommee Tippee brand. This blender is packaged within a cardboard box and is easy to unwrap once opened. The base unit is made from sturdy plastic and it is fairly small so doesn't take up a great deal of room ...

Character Options Teletubbies Jumping Po 02/02/2017

Super cute but not worth the full price..

Character Options Teletubbies Jumping Po Teletubbies Jumping Po *Age recommendation - from 18 months* Po is the smallest of The Teletubbies and is red in colour. She measures around 35cm (different websites state different heights but I have used a measuring tape for accuracy) in height and requires 3 x AA batteries (these are not included). Po is described as being a plush toy that sings and speaks fun phrases from the show as well having the ability to jump. If you are an Amazon Prime customer, you can purchase Jumping Po for just £9.99 (stock is low) but the full retail price is around £24.99. Other stockists include Very and Smyths. Our Experience Whilst Laa-Laa is our sons favourite character from The Teletubbies, he does show an interest in the others. He has acquired a nice little collection of character toys including this Jumping Po. I purchased this at the Amazon Prime price after spotting the deal on a Facebook page. I do feel this is a fair price to pay for this toy and not the recommended retail price as it is a bit on the steep side. Po arrived promptly and was safely secured within an open front, cardboard box. The battery compartment is located under a Velcro tab on Po's back and can only be accessed using a small screw driver. There is an on/off slider switch here too so Po is easy to operate. Po can only be surface cleaned. Po is adorable to look at and our son recognised her as soon as we unboxed her. She is a fair size but not too bulky. Po is bright red in colour and features a cute, ...

Character Options Teletubbies Lullaby Laa-Laa 01/02/2017

Sleepy time with Laa-Laa..

Character Options Teletubbies Lullaby Laa-Laa Lullaby Laa-Laa Lullaby Laa-Laa is one of many Teletubbies toys available to purchase. It is recommended for children over the age of 18 months. Laa-Laa requires 3 x AAA batteries (included) and is approx 36cm tall. Laa-Laa has a few different modes including a night light only option and also the option to have music and lights playing for 5, 10 or 15minutes. Lullaby Laa-Laa is available from highstreet and online stockists. The rrp is £30 but it is slightly cheaper on Amazon UK. Laa-Laa can also be purchased from Boots, Mothercare and Toys 'R' Us. Our Experience Our son absolutely loves The Teletubbies and his favourite is Laa-Laa. I couldn't resist buying this Lullaby Laa-Laa for him. Although my son is a year short of recommended age for this toy, I didn't have an issue with buying it for him as it looked safe for him to play with. Laa-Laa is one of a few toys that my son likes to utelise at nap times and bed time. He is a great little sleep (up to 13hours at night) and enjoys his bedtime routine. His little face lit up when we gave him this toy and she was fairly easy to remove from the cardboard packaging. The batteries included were fine for a little while but we have had to replace them numerous times in the past 2 months as they run out very quickly. The battery pack is located under a velcro tab on the back of Laa-Laa and a small screwdriver is required to gain entry to it. As the batteries are running low, Laa-Laa stops playing music quicker than the selected ...

Hotpoint FFLAA58WDG 28/01/2017

Getting straight to the (Hot)point...

Hotpoint FFLAA58WDG Last year we needed to buy a new fridge freezer and spent quite a lot of time deciding which one to buy. The one we really wanted was too big to fit through our back or external doors so we had to look for a more practical option. Our kitchen is designed to accommodate an under counter fridge and freezer but we wanted a full size fridge freezer so knew we would have to make space for it. In the end, we opted for this Hotpoint fridge freezer in 'graphite'. I believe it was in the sale in Currys at the time of purchase for around £380. Hotpoint FFLAA58WDG - The Important Details Size 184.5 x 54.5 x 59.5cm Price - £499 (Currys) Capacity - 178 litres (fridge)/81 litres (freezer) Guarantee - 1 years labour and 10years parts This fridge freezer has many features which make it a valuable purchase for a modern kitchen. It features a 60/40 split and is suitable for indoor use only. It has an energy A+ rating and 277 k/Wh annual energy consumption. The fridge features three shelves (made from safety glass), a crisper and three door compartments. The fridge has auto-defrost and features anti-bacterial seals. The freezer offers four drawers and is frost free. Unfortuantely there is no fast freeze option but in the event of a power cut, the freezer is fine for 19.5hours. This fridge freezer features a water dispenser which does not require any plumbing in order to operate it. The door can be reversed on this fridge freezer. Why We Chose This Fridge Freezer To be honest, I was ...
