Britney Spears Fantasy Eau de Parfum for Her, Fantasy Eau de Parfum 28/05/2008

Is this your fantasy?

Britney Spears Fantasy Eau de Parfum for Her, Fantasy Eau de Parfum Despite the risk of sounding like a dreadful snob, I must admit that I was never too fond of the concept of 'Celebrity Perfumes'. It just seemed another marketing tool to further include the world of celebrity into our lives. So when I was given a bottle of Britney Spear's scent 'Fantasy' for a birthday gift, whilst thrilled obviously with getting a present, I can't say I was overwhelmed…but then after smelling the perfume, I completely changed my tune. ~~~ The Scent ~~~ I should make it clear however that 'Fantasy' may not be to everyone's taste: it's a very, very sweet, girl perfume and has quite a distinctive scent - no subtle undertones here! I personally absolutely adore this: I am definitely a girly girl and this perfume does the job! Don't let that put you off however - my boyfriend complimented me on this perfume straight away and he is most definitely not a girly girl! The website for this perfume (http://fantasybritneyspears.co.uk/home.aspx), lists the ingredients which make it as red lychee, golden quince and exotic kiwi. It also tells of cupcakes (yum!), jasmine petals and white chocolate orchid, alongside creamy musk, orris root, and sensual woods. This elaborate description really does perfectly describe the sweetness of this perfume. The perfume lasts very well, but the initial sweetness does decrease after a while, leaving a gorgeous, subtle scent. Be warned though - if you don't like sweet perfumes, don't go near this! ~~~ Packaging ...

Jacob`s Fig Rolls 28/05/2008

A delicious healthy treat...maybe..

Jacob`s Fig Rolls I'm not a huge fan of figs - I will eat them, but they definitely aren't first in my choice of a snack. But the humble fig-roll is a completely different matter. I pretty much grew up with the fig roll; my mother would always give me a fig roll when I was younger, so when I spotted them in the supermarket, I was thrilled to pieces that Jacobs were continuing to produce these delicious little biscuits. ~~~ The Biscuit ~~~ The fig-roll itself is basically a chopped fig enclosed by a delicious golden-brown soft biscuit. The biscuit part is absolutely scrumptious; when you take a bite it really seems to melt in your mouth, leaving a lovely smooth after-taste. The fig itself is also delicious and for the non-fig lovers of you, has not got an overwhelming 'figgy' taste which the fig does when not put in a biscuit. This biscuit is not too sweet, but just right...however this does mean you can eat a fair few without noticing..oops... The biscuit and the fig really compliment each other and overall produce a delicious and tasty snack. ~~~ Packaging ~~~ Jacob's fig rolls come in packs of twelve in an oblong plastic tray. This is then covered by bright red plastic with Fig-Rolls printed in big, white letters on the front. There are also pictures of the fig-roll itself. And thank goodness, the fig-roll advertised actually resembles the fig roll itself, so no disappointment there! The Jacob's logo is also proudly displayed in the top left corner. The back contains the ...

10 Minute Solution - Kickbox Bootcamp (DVD) 21/05/2008

A great solution

10 Minute Solution - Kickbox Bootcamp (DVD) For the amount of chocolate I consume, it is paramount that I exercise. The problem in this however, is that I have a very short attention span and get bored of doing the same exercise day in day out. So a little jaded by my gym and swimming sessions, I thought I'd branch out into the world of fitness dvds, which is when I stumbled across 10 Minute Solution: Kick Box Bootcamp. The Kick Box Bootcamp is one of a range of 10 Minute Solution workouts. Other titles include pilates, carb and calorie burner, target toning, blast off belly fat, yoga and fat blasting Latin mix. Each DVD contains five ten minute segments presented by a professional instructor. This is a brilliant idea; on a busy day you can easily fit in just a couple of segments to get a good, quick workout, but equally, if you have a lot of time to hand, the whole workout is varied enough to keep your concentration. I was always a little apprehensive over fitness DVDs because I was uncomfortable with the fact that whilst you're sweating away at home looking a complete mess in your most unattractive exercise clothes, there are these pristine women doing the same exercise as you, without a hair out of place. There was just something not quite right there... This is what makes the Kick Box Bootcamp DVD so refreshing. Keli Roberts, the instructor, whilst still having extremely neat hair throughout, gets out of breath with you! And in my personal opinion, that's not just because she's unfit - one look at her and it ...

Nestlé Nestle After Eight Rich Dark Chocolate Bar 19/05/2008

Not just for after Eight...

Nestlé Nestle After Eight Rich Dark Chocolate Bar I'm sure many of you share my sentiment when I say that I have a guilty love for chocolate. Imagine my horror therefore, when, after two years of poor digestive health, various doctors advised me last week to give up dairy, which unfortunately ruled out delicious chocolate. Unperturbed however, I decided allowances could definitely be made for plain and dark chocolate. This is when the After Eight Dark Chocolate Bar came in. Now I don't know about you, but I can happily munch my way through boxes of After Eight Mints, and also there gorgeous mint straws, so a new opportunity to try some After Eights products seemed too good to miss. After a quick scan of the ingredients did not reveal that they were a dairy free item, there was a warning that this product may contain traces of milk - well if it's only a possibility, that's fine for me. After Eight is produced by Nestle. The original After Eight was launched in 1962 and quickly became the epitome of the after dinner mint. Since the launch of many other products such as bitesize After Eights, the new boy on the scene is the bar. The basic principle behind the bar, is so simple. It's the After Eight in a bar form. It comes in an 80gram bar, which is made up of four rows of two squares. The bar is made up from the illustrious 70% cocoa beans, and each square is filled with the famous peppermint fondant cream centre. Each square features the clock of the After Eight logo. ~~ The Product ~~ As soon as you open this ...

Jolen Facial Strip Wax 15/05/2008

The search continues...

Jolen Facial Strip Wax It's time to make a rather unfortunate (if not unattractive) confession: left unattended, a lot of tiny dark hairs start to appear on my upper-lip. As time goes on, these tiny hairs start to resemble a moustache that Hulk Hogan, Ned Flanders and even my dear late father would be proud of. Understandably, this is not really something I want to keep on my person for too long. So, for a few years, every four weeks, I'd pop off down to a local beauty salon and have it waxed off for me. Great - results were perfect - my upper-lip was hair-free! But then I started to become disheartened about how much money I was wasting on this four-weekly event, I mean, how hard can it be to wax off some hairs from a relatively small patch of skin? Well, quite hard by all accounts. Maybe my technique is wrong, but I have tried numerous cold-wax products, and whilst hairs are removed, I am still left with something of a five-o-clock shadow…my stubborn nature prevents me from returning to the salon however, so I am persevering to find the 'Holy Grail' of the facial waxing world… Having become frustrated by the lack of results from the Boots own and Superdrug own wax strips, I looked towards Veet. Great, I thought - here's a brand they seem to be the real deal, so I didn't mind paying up for the specially designed strips. Yet, whilst better than the Boots and Superdrug waxing strips, they were definitely not brilliant. So imagine my glee when I was in my local chemist and stumbled across a pack ...

Old El Paso Fajita Dinner Kit 14/05/2008

Some Mexican delights to tantalise your tastebuds

Old El Paso Fajita Dinner Kit I, and my lovely boyfriend, have developed somewhat of a penchant for Mexican food. Whilst we were fortunate to discover a delicious Mexican range within walking distance of our house, we found that having to go to a restaurant whenever the Mexican craving kicked in, was getting a tad expensive. This is when Old El Paso stepped in… Old El Paso offer a whole variety of Mexican cook at home foods; they offer Dinner Kits for fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, tacos and nachos. Two new exciting additions to this family include fajitas where they provide you with the ingredients to make your chicken have a crispy coating, and the new 'stand 'n' stuff tacos' where the bottom of the taco is flat, so you can stuff it with your filling till your heart's content without breaking the taco. Exciting stuff. Alongside the kits, they sell separate spice mixes, tortillas and dinner sauces. Out of the range however, the fajita kit is the one we use the most. Whilst I normally love to cook from scratch, I have not turned this love to Mexican food... I honestly don't think I'd get the desired results and authentic taste, which the Old El Paso fajita kit provides. Product Now there are two fajita flavours available to tantalise your taste-buds. Firstly there is the Original Smoky BBQ flavour which is absolutely delicious. There is however also a Tomato and Pepper flavour which is a lot hotter (in terms of spice); I must confess this didn't really hit the right note as much as the Original ...

Divine White Chocolate 12/05/2008

A Divine Experience

Divine White Chocolate First thing's first, despite a guilty love of Milky Bars (I have a multipack stashed in my top draw as I speak), I must confess, I've never been a huge lover of white chocolate. It just doesn't have the same appeal to it as the milk or dark varieties. So, when I was deliberating between what bar of divine chocolate I should buy, I was quite surprised to find myself buying the white version. But I'm so glad I did - it's absolutely, well, divine. Let me give you a little background on the company first of all: Divine chocolate was launched into the UK market back in 1998 as the first ever fair-trade chocolate bar designed for the mass market. The website for divine chocolate (www.divinechocolate.com) provides a fascinating read with the chocolate's full background. The chocolate is made from fair trade produce, from co-operatives of farmers in Ghana, Africa. So not only is the chocolate delicious, it also makes your conscious feel great as well. Alongside the dark, milk and white chocolate bars available, there is also mint dark chocolate, dark chocolate with fruit and nut, orange milk chocolate, coffee milk chocolate and hazelnut milk chocolate available. You can also buy cookies, muffins, drinking chocolate, cocoa and even a recipe book for all things chocolatey. So now the basics are covered, let me continue to singing the praises of the white chocolate bar… Price and availability: the white version of the bar comes in two different sizes: 45g and 100g. The Divine ...

The Body Shop Blueberry Body Butter 11/05/2008

Butterly Butterly Brilliant

The Body Shop Blueberry Body Butter If you have not yet discovered the 'Body Butter' range produced by The Body Shop, I strongly urge you to hop foot it on down there…I do not hold any qualms to say that the range is truly a delight. My first experience of the Body Butter, was a rather delectable coconut flavour…it was absolutely delicious, and was brilliant for my skin which is prone to dry patches, which occasionally border on the painful. On running out, I decided I'd like to try a new one, which is when I stumbled across the gem that is the Blueberry Body Butter… So what exactly is a Body Butter? I was, at first, a little apprehensive. As much as I adore butter on my toast, I was in no way keen at the prospect of spreading something so greasy all over my body. But do not be put off - it is simply a divine moisturiser. If you're looking for something that really does the job, this is the product for you! Price and Availability: These are clearly only available from The Body Shop…I must admit that I have been lucky that wherever I've lived, there's been a Body Shop in close proximity, but for those who are not near a shop, there is of course the website. (www.thebodyshop.co.uk) where the entire body butter range is available. Just a quick note - it's definitely worth signing up to their newsletter for alerts of free delivery. The price of the Body Butter is not I admit cheap. A 200 ml tub is priced at £12 (although there is a two for £20 promotion on at the moment), whilst a 50ml tub is £5. The 50ml ...

TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier 11/05/2008

The curls now do rock

TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier Despite a persistent love for my GHD hair straighteners, there are times when I have to face up to the fact that I was not born with poker straight hair, but rather a head full of curls, which, untamed, does bear resemblance to the mane of a lion. This however, is when this little gem from Tigi Catwalk enters the scene… I have struggled for many years to find a product for curly hair that lived up to its promises. I was however, recommended the Curls Rock Curls Amplifier by a friend who has similar hair issues. At first I have to admit I was apprehensive about the price - paying £11.90 per bottle seemed pretty extravagant for my meagre student budget. Eventually however I 'bit the bullet' and got myself a bottle. Also, I have found that it is cheaper on the internet; the last bottle I bought was off an ebay store, and I paid roughly £8. It is important to remember however that a little goes a long way. I generally have to replace this product roughly every eight months, because you only need a little for it to be extremely effective. This product is available to purchase from hairdressers; however, I have noticed that the number of hairdressers who stock this particular product is decreasing - I do not know whether this is just because of the area in which I live in, or if it is a general trend throughout the country. It is however available to buy quite readily on the internet. General high street beauty stores such as Boots and Superdrug, and supermarkets, do not ...

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Milk 10/05/2008

Clinique - Take The Day Off Cleansing Milk

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Milk This product is readily available to buy at the Clinique counter in department stores such as Debenhams, online or at Boots the Chemist. I bought mine from Boots and paid £15.50, but I'm sure if you browsed the internet, you'll be able to purchase it at a discounted rate (for example, the website 'Skin Store' are advertising it for £12.95). Having said this however, I truly believe that Clinique 'Take the Day Off Cleansing Milk' is well worth the amount of money I paid). Firstly I must confess, I don't feel I am particularly blessed in the perfect skin department; I have quite sensitive skin, with dry patches and eczema, but I also find that if I don't take proper care of it, I'm prone to outbreaks of the dreaded spots. Having become fed up with numerous cleansers that weren't doing what they promised to do, I began looking for a better cleanser. I have friends who use a variety of Clinique products who swear by them so I was keen to discover what they had to offer. The adviser at the counter was superb - she listened to my problems and recommended the 'Take the Day Off Cleansing Milk'. It's ideal for people with dry skin because of it's gentle formula but it's highly effective also. I am so glad this was recommended- it's been excellent. Packaging: I really think the packaging of the Cleanser is rather attractive. In a girly purple, it has the big Clinique logo displayed on the front, whilst the back offers clear instructions for use in five different languages, ...
