GHD Mark IV Styler Hair Straightener 24/11/2013

Good Hair Day all day

GHD Mark IV Styler Hair Straightener I've had my straighteners coming up to a year and a half and they haven't seized to fail me yet. I originally had mark hill straighteners which were good in some ways that GHD straighteners lack but not so good in other ways. Unfortunately one day my mark hill straighteners had a break in the spring so they were forever in an L shape if I wasn't holding either side together, needless to say this became a little awkward and so I decided to invest in GHDs I thought for the money that they may be longer lasting than just a year. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Price I paid £115 for my GHDS straighteners from Tony and Guy from what I can recall, GHDS have always been a top branded pair of straighteners that are not for everyone's budget and a few people I knew when they first came out usually had them as a Christmas or birthday present as apposed to a one off expense. There are straighteners that will do the same job and to be quite honest all straighteners are is two rods with an iron bit with some protection to help prevent damage to the hair - all straighteners are inevitably bad for your hair but equally they are all straightening your hair. The difference is with some GHD straighteners you are able to curl hair too but other than that you're paying for the brand and you know that they will last longer than others. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~Straightening and Curling I have quite curly hair naturally so if I leave it I get ringlets so when I straighten my hair it's a little awkward so for anyone ...

Now You See Me (DVD) 18/11/2013

Tonight - we're going to rob a bank!

Now You See Me (DVD) So take a look closer, because the more you think you see... The easier it'll be to fool you. Louis Leterrier released the UK 2013 release in cinemas about magicians and pulling off stunts never before accomplished mixing action with magic tricks really did give things a nice twist for a change. Story Four talented street magicians have been watched for a while now before receiving a card each with a different word on each one and all containing the same address - so then became the four horseman who set out to accomplish things never before see on stage - to steal from the rich and give to the poor - or rob from the bank and give to the audience (same idea really). The police get involved and become more aggravated with the confusion of the tricks and it's one twist after the other which all gets unfolded and all is revealed. I like how this is a new and exciting film and couldn't wait to watch this film ever since I saw the trailer and was definitely worth the pennies I spent. The first trick involves robbing the bank the second involves robbing there boss and the third involves robbing a volt which wasn't stolen the first time round and used to frame the decoder for magic tricks (booooo there's always one!). So the police are looking for an excuse to make arrest and the horseman are on the run and one is posed in a car accident as dead. I like the special effects for the magic tricks and how everything is set out and especially how they act out the car scene which looks ...

Ugg Short Boots Women 12/11/2013

Classical UGG boots

Ugg Short Boots Women I have toyed with the idea of getting UGG boots for a number of years now and I decided that after three years I could justify the need to spend the money but I was always curious as to where to buy them - after all I was after the real ones and if I was going to pay £50 to get fake ones I might as well go to primark (no offence to anyone that goes there). So I had a look around and I saw there was a £30 off when you join Very and there was a cost for £150 for the boots I wanted and I could pay over three months with no interest - so that seemed like a decent option for me. In other places the boots can be anything up to £200 but I have seen websites that advertise the boots at £50 but I couldn't say whether or not these would be genuine and I wouldn't like to risk it either to be honest. I also managed to get 7% cash back through quidco on the £150 retail price - not bad really. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The Box The boots arrived the following day which I was quite happy with considering the website had initially stated that it would take two weeks which as I'm a size 3 I expected that it would take a whole (even though I settled for a size 4). The box was large like a normal boot size shoe box and a tanned brown colour with the boots inside and posh paper wrapping the boots - so nothing special and no boot care (even though just paid £150 well I didn't but considering the price). The box then states that the boots are size 6 in the USA well that's a great bit of information for me ...

Curse of Chucky (DVD) 07/11/2013

You have what's called completion anxiety...

Curse of Chucky (DVD) Child's Play Everyone know the Child's play story - the possessed doll, the serial killings and then Poor Andy who's stalked all the way through one, two and three until Chucky finally leaves Andy alone in the bride of Chucky and the seed of Chucky. So in short Child's play is about how Charles Lee Ray (Chucky) was running away from the police where he ran into a children's toy store and was shot but managed to transfer his soul into a good guy doll which would appear all too convenient as a disguise. Then Andy's mom is desperate to get a good guy doll so buys one which is obviously dodgy and takes it home to Andy as a gift - being a single mom on a low income job was hard enough until Chucky came about. Over the next three films it was made to be a horror/thriller which is delivered for the age of the film but then when the Bride and the Seed of Chucky came out they made a comical spin and that's what it was supposed to be - a bit of comedy behind it. Obviously with the new the Curse of Chucky I believe they are trying a mix of the two, a comical and thriller but let's just say it didn't work out too well... Cast I didn't think the acting was brilliant, in fact I think it was mediocre and disappointing and just added to the fact that I was actually waiting for the film to start still even after the killings had started. Looking at the listing I had never even heard of any of the actors which also adds to the reason behind the terrible acting - there was no life to the ...

Wilko Smoothie Blackcurrant Fruity Shower Gel 06/11/2013

For the fruity

Wilko Smoothie Blackcurrant Fruity Shower Gel Blackcurrent Smoothie Showet Gel I found my soulmate shower gel in wilkinson about a year ago now and it's like a cheap version of the radox shower smoothie stuff. It's simple packaging just a clear tube with a black flap cap to squeeze out the gel and a purple ish coloured label so there's nothing fancy or different just Showet gel. Radox smoothie is slightly thick in consistency and you can see the grains which help to exfoliate the skin although the packaging is similar to the wilkinson version the product is near enough the same. Wilkinson smoothie shower gel is a bit thinner than the normal radox and the grains are slightly smaller but the colour of the shower gel is a lot more vibrant and the radox range. I like the smell of the wilkinson variety it's really strong and fruity and I tend to find it smells better than the radox range I also like the lasting scent it levea afterwards as I can smell it for a few hours. You can buy this in any wilkinson store and it is usually £1 although sometimes there are buy one get one free offers on so it still works out £2 cheaper than radox Overall I would say 5 stars, it's cheap, convenient and smells nice every wash as well as getting rid of the dead skin that occurs from time to time especially around the heels of my feet. I would recommend to a friend and think its great to use and does the job.

Oz the Great and Powerful [DVD] 06/11/2013

I want him to see me like this!

Oz the Great and Powerful [DVD] Oz the Great and Powerful Sam Raimi's 2013 Wizard of Oz is the beginning of the yellow Brick road that Dorothy follows and apparently that twister that brought the house down on the wicked witch wasn't the first one to spin somebody into the land of Oz. Oz the Great and Powerful goes into depth about how Oz got to the land of Oz and what kind of wizard he is and why the wicked witch looks the way she does as well as other little things that you may not have questioned in the original Wizard of Oz where Dorothy tapped her red glittered shoes and said she wanted to go home so instead of this film being as equal it's more of a prequel. Cast James Franco as Oz Mila Kunis as Theodora Rachel Weisz as Evanora Michelle Williams as Annie/Glinda Zack Braff as Frank/Finley Bill Cobs as Master Tinker We all know the beautiful Rachel Weisz who plaid Evie in all three of the mummies, James Franco who played Harry in Spider-Man , Mila who played Lori in 2012s favourite Ted and Michelle who got the leading role in My Week with Marilyn playing Marilyn Monroe so there was a decent sized budget to say the least - you couldn't ask for a better cast (well you could) but to say the least the acting is outstanding and the roles were well suited to the actors so I can't fault the acting at all in that respect. Story Oz the Great and Powerful is a circus magician with second hand clothes and very little to his name - he's a liar, a floozey and con man. After flying off in a hot air balloon ...

Sucker Punch (DVD) 05/11/2013

Reality is a prison, your mind can set you free...

Sucker Punch (DVD) Sucker Punch Zack Synders Sucker Punch staring Emily Browning was created and given the title to suit the nature of the film and the way it is set, for those who do not know what a sucker punch is - a suck punch is an unexpected hit or blow. Zack's title for the film is fitting for the film as there are a few "read between the lines" that are sugar coated from one shocking story to another. Cast Emily Browning as Baby-doll Abbie Cornish as Sweet Pea Jena Malone as Rocket Vanessa Hudgens as Blondie Jamie Chung as Amber Oscar Isaac as Blue I've heard of a couple of the actors and I think for the acting it was impressive and it was believable even as unrealistic as the film is and how the film is actually rolled out I did actually like this and didn't think anything bad at all about the acting. Sountrack 1. Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) – Emily Browning 2. Army Of Me (Sucker Punch Remix) – Björk featuring Skunk Anansie 3. White Rabbit – Emiliana Torrini 4. I Want It All/We Will Rock You Mash-Up – Queen w/ Armageddon Aka Geddy 5. Search and Destroy – Skunk Anansie 6. Tomorrow Never Knows – Alison Mosshart and Carla Azar 7. Where Is My Mind? – Yoav featuring Emily Browning 8. Asleep – Emily Browning 9. Love Is the Drug – Carla Gugino and Oscar Isaac For me and for anyone that reads my movie reviews will know I am picky with soundtrack so it'll be a nice surprise to say I found the soundtrack different but not original in the same respect - I noticed the music in this ...

Hotel Transylvania (DVD) 05/11/2013

Dad I'm not 83 years old anymore!

Hotel Transylvania (DVD) Hotel Transylvania Genndy Tartakovsky created and directed the popular family film Hotel Transylvania casting known actors for the voices and animated to the quality of Toy Story, both children and adults can watch this film and thoroughly enjoy although humour could be taken as marmite (either love it or hate it) with toilet joke humour like farting. Cast Adam sandler as Dracula Andy Samberg as Jonathan Selena Gomez as Mavis Kevin James as Frankenstein Fran Drescher as Eunice Steve Buscemi as Wayne Molly Shannon as Wanda David Spade as Griffin CeeLo Green as Murray So as you can tell there are a few known people doing the voices for some of our well known halloween characters like Dracula, Frankenstein, the mummy, werewolves, blobs, ghosts, goblins, ghouls - you name it they got it. There was no acting so I can't comment on that but the voices seemed to be good but then it's just reading scripts and putting on certain voices if I'm completely honest - not much talent in reading a few lines unless you're a new born baby. Story Dracula wants to protect his daughter Mavis from what he fears most - humans. He builds a hotel to protect his only daughter from suffering the same tragic ending as his beloved wife Martha and in doing so is told not to have anything like fire or fireworks which could in fact attract attention from Humans. Of course though from the age of 83 Mavis has been curios to explore the world beyond the walls of the Hotel for monsters and by her 118th ...

World War Z (DVD) 30/10/2013

It's not for them - it's for us...

World War Z (DVD) World War Z Everyone has seen a zombie film and typically you expect zombies to be bloody and gruesome and obviously - dead. In your normal zombie film there's a breakout of the walking dead and people are told to stay in there homes and aim for the head if necessary. In Marc Forsters Zombie apocalypse version there's a weakness that the Zombies have in order to infect others. I did also feel like there was a scene taken from snakes on a plane - whether it was intended or not I couldn't say but it definitely seemed like it. Cast I have only really heard of Brad Pitt who is one of the well known actors and has been in many films such as Se7en and interview with the vampire. The acting was good in comparison to a lot of films that are coming out lately where you've never heard of any of the cast and then you expect the acting to be poor quality but in this case for me I didn't expect it to be rubbish but I was a bit dubious as to how good the acting was but I was quite happy with that side of things. Brad Pitt - Gerry Lane Mireille Enos - Karin Lane Daniella Kertesz - Segen Fana Mokoena - Thierry Umutoni Peter Capaldi - W.H.O. Doctor Story There's a breakout and people need to evacuate immediately or keep safe in there homes. There's chaos and the law doesn't really account for anything at the moment where even police aren't bothered by somebody being shot in the local supermarket. Everyone is out to fend for themselves and it's a bite away from being a "Z". So Gerry ...

Apple iPhone 5C 16GB 28/10/2013

A different kind of Apple

Apple iPhone 5C 16GB Apple Apple is one of the worlds leading brands and unlike sony and Microsoft - has only stuck to phones, laptops, computers and tablets whereas Microsoft created the xBox and Sony created the Playstation. That tells me Apple are rolling in it and how could they not be when they charge £500 for a phone? Even worst £1300 for an Apple Mac laptop! So to say the least they have to be one of the most expensive brands out there but in all they are worth the money. Recently though, as we all know Apple have released the new iPhone 5s but the twist is they released the iPhone 5c also. The iPhone 5s is different in three ways; look, chip and privacy but I shall do a slight comparison to that one later on. Initial thoughts Well I was a little uncertain I was even going to get this phone in all honesty I was happy to wait until the release of the iPhone 6 but I was hassled for days by the likes of Vodafone but they just wanted me to upgrade my iPhone evidently I did. They only offered me the iPhone 5c the iPhone 5s wasn't in stoke and the colours were limited in availability I could have blue, yellow or white and they were my only options - bad times. Luckily for me though it just so happened that I would have chose the blue one anyway and I would rather have had the iPhone 5c over the iPhone 5s as I liked the colourfulness of the 5c in comparison to the 5s and when there's not a lot of difference between the two phones then I would say 5c all the way. Obviously I knew it was same ...

Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion 22/10/2013

Lets just clarify - you want to get rid of spots you say?

Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion Clinique So who are Clinique exactly? Clinique was originally founded in 1968 by a single dermatologist who began with an assumption that hygeine and cleanliness was the beginning to treating all skin conditions e.g. dry, oily, normal or breakout skin. Since then Clinique has been self motivated to customise their products to individual types of skin to suit an individual persons needs. Clinique thus created a three step skin care system which consists of cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing the skin. If you go into Boots and get a free skin care consultation they can point out for you what skin care products are best for your skin type and how to use them effectively to get the best results. Of course with the various different skin care providers they all have anti-aging and eye creams which were introduced in 1999. What's my skin type? Any person can find out their skin type online through the Clinique websites (www.clinique.co.uk) and fill out a short survey to receive a free consultation on what your skin type is and what Clinique products would be recommended to you. I did this a few minutes ago as I suffer with spots and it's something that has cost me money on concealer and foundation to help hide them although they aren't as bad as when they first were. The questions you would be asked are; What are your main skin concerns? Select two Is your skin dry, oily or a bit of both? How does your skin respond without sun protection? What is your natural skin colour ...

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (DVD) 22/10/2013

I'm just a sweet TRANSVESTITE!

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (DVD) The Rocky Horror Picture Show 1975 was the year in which one of my new found favourite musicals was released, directed by Jim Sharman and Tim Curry who is has starred in many films. This film combines madness, Mary Shelley's idea for Frankenstein in a sexier fashion and openness for sexuality along with cannibalism and a bit of sexual temptation alongside Meat Loaf who is also well known. So as I said this film is a musical and with a running time of 100 minutes there are plenty of songs to get into which are rather catchy and something you could later catch yourself singing to. Cast So my initial thoughts and opinions of the actors - well I've heard of Tim Curry and I've watched a couple of films that he's in such as Stephen King's IT where he plays PennyWise the Dancing Clown (or Bob Gray if you know your Stephen King novels) and Meat Loaf who released an album called Bat Out of Hell - otherwise I would say I've never heard of the other actors starring in this film. Would I say it was bad acting? No I think it was good taking into consideration the decade - everything was a little different with acting then although there was a few films with diabolical acting I would say this was definitely not one of them films and to star not one but two recognisable people then that must count for something. Personally I think the acting was good. Dr. Frank N Furter played by Tim Curry Brad Majors played by Barry Bostwick Fiancée Janet Weiss played by Susan Sarandon The Un-wed Biker ...

Evil Dead (DVD) 20/10/2013

You have to get me... Out of here

Evil Dead (DVD) Evil Dead I'm a fan of both old and new films so to find out there was a remake for the Evil Dead I obviously wanted to see this. The original Evil Dead was released in 1981 and back in its on day and age it was a horror in its time but a spin on comedy due to the graphics although these days it's more of a comedy as apposed to a horror. The one thing that all the Evil Dead films have in common is that they all happen in the cabin, somebody has been there before, the book gets read and the evil is unleashed - the third Evil Dead being Army of the Dead is the only one which goes a bit differently where the main character ends up in some other era although. So to say the least if you've seen one then you've seen them all. The only difference between the 2013 version and the 1981 is that the 2013 Fede Alvarez remake is a gorier take and puts more of the horror back into the film. Cast Jane Levy - Mia the drug addict who vows never to touch drugs when she goes back to the cabin. Shiloh Fernandez - David, Mia's brother and estranged member of the group Lou Taylor Pucci - Eric is the geeky friend who seems to be interested in witch craft and other kind of thing and the idiot who reads the passage from the book even after all the notes saying not to. Jessica Lucas - Olivia is the know it all nurse who wants to help Mia with her addiction the hard way. Tough love! Elizabeth Blackmore - Natalie is David's girlfriend and a new member to the friends although she always seems to be an ...

Yankee Candle Black Cherry Jar 19/10/2013

Who doesn't love Cherries?

Yankee Candle Black Cherry Jar Yankee Candle Yankee is a US American based company who specialise is ignited and non ignited fragrances. They're goal is to reinvent and capture fragrances from everyone's favourite memories from the kitchen to tropical holidays as quoted from what they say. In recent years though Yankee have started selling products in the UK in shops such as Clinton cards and their own shops which have slowly started to show up. They look to reinvent seasons through the scents of the candles as well as the traditions and that's the goal of Yankee. Yankee Candle Black Cherry I'm a bit of a Yankee fan and have purchased many of the candles as well as the lamp shades and dishes to compliment the candle and lucky for me Yankee decided to sell some candles at my work and one of my favourite scents was there so I made sure I made the buy before somebody else - there was a 25% staff discount too. In particular I bought the medium sized jar which is approximately 5/6inches in height and 4 inches in width with a weight of 14.05OZ which is 411g . The jar is made of strong quality glass which about the thickness of a good quality wine glass (trust me I know) with a glass lid with rubber around the edge to help keep in the scent to keep the fragrance at its best. On the lid there is embossed Yankee candle company and a fancy looking "L" which is a candle look. The candle itself is blood red and you can smell the black cherry through the glass - so yes it's very strong but not overpowering. When ...

Apple iPad 4 16GB WiFi 18/10/2013

One of my five a day

Apple iPad 4 16GB WiFi Apple Apple is one of the worlds leading brands and unlike sony and Microsoft - has only stuck to phones, laptops, computers and tablets whereas Microsoft created the xBox and Sony created the Playstation. That tells me Apple are rolling in it and how could they not be when they charge £500 for a phone? Even worst £1300 for an Apple Mac laptop! So to say the least they have to be one of the most expensive brands out there but in all they are worth the money. Initial thoughts At first I didn't think I would use the iPad all that much. I have an iPod, iPhone and a laptop all of which do the jobs that the iPad can do so I wasn't all that convinced that it wasn't going to be worthwhile of my hard earned pennies. I literally decided to buy this as my laptop tends to get kidnapped by other occupying residents in my household to be polite about it and I wanted to be able to access the internet when I felt like it and have something a bit more portable so I decided to buy the iPad 4 with retina display - it was the newest one and I had a good deal on the price (free!). Appearance There are two colours of the iPad; black or white - I opted for the white one. The iPad White on the front around the screen and silver on the back with a black Apple logo on the back. There is also a front facing camera, a back camera and a total of five buttons with two sockets one for headphones and one for the charger. So overall like other Apple products the iPad is very basic looking and ...
