Hotel Lagotel, Majorca 01/10/2007

Lagotel hotel, Playa de Muro-Alcudia- Majorca

Hotel Lagotel, Majorca Lagotel Hotel- Alcudia, Majorca Flight 2 hours from Cardiff to Palma, with first choice passed by quickly thank-goodness not a flyer! Transfer This took approx 50 minutes. Resort On arrival check-in was efficient and staff polite but a little stern looking. The hotel is outside Alcudia in Playa De Muro but the buses are regular and cheap to the strip. The hotel as a courtesy bus to the beach, which is lovely, shallow and white sand and ample sun beds and umbrellas. Hotel On arrival check-in was efficient and staff polite but a little stern looking. Lobby was quite spacious with ample seating and also Internet facilities, with Reps desks at the end. Off the lobby was a large bar with satellite TV and games machines for the children to waste their money on. This is also where they held the entertainment in the evening. The Restaurant Although this was quite big, people do tend to descend at the same time at mealtimes, we found if we went in early rather than later they was plenty of tables and buffet full, if we went in later you had to wait for items to be filled up. The Bar wasn't too expensive a bottle of wine cost about 8 Euros. The food was quite good and usually plenty of choice from salad, meat dishes and desserts, fruit and separate children's buffet. The Rooms Our room over-looked the pool area, but the rooms at the other side of the hotel over-looked the lake both views were really nice. The balcony was very big with table and 3 chairs ...

Holiday Village Benalmadena, Costa Del Sol 10/08/2007

Holiday Village-Benalmadena, Costa Del Sol

Holiday Village Benalmadena, Costa Del Sol Holiday Village,Benalmadena-Costa del sol, stayed 2 weeks from 14 july 2007 Flight 2 and a half hours with First Choice was short and on time so really good as I hate flying!! Transfer From Malaga airport it takes about half an hour to transfer to the hotel, it is on the outskirts of Benalmadena. Check-in If you fill out the registration form on your transfer it is quick and easy. The staff were curtious and pleasant at all times. Hotel set half way between Benalmadena and Fuengirola and not good for a stroll into either, its too far from both ,catch a bus! The Living Room Well this was my first let-down, as before we went away we had heard there was building work going on at the back of the hotel and also at the beach club where most of the pools are located. Hearing this I called into to my First Choice shop to find out, they phoned head-quarters and asked and was told that there had been building work at the beach club but was now complete and that they knew nothing about building –site that I now had the most wonderful view of from our room, along also with a railway line and donkey in field that let you know when the train was coming. Phoned down to ask for another room with seaview but none available and would have cost an extra 15 euros a day!! Sorry! The room itself was large, clean and spacious with living area and dining table with 5 chairs, air-con, TV (remote to be hired), double pull out bed, huge double wardrobe and mirror in passage, ...

Belvedere Hotel, Salou 05/06/2007

Hotel Belvedere Salou A good 3*

Belvedere Hotel, Salou Belvedere Hotel- Salou (Costa Dorada). We visited this hotel for one week last May 2005, we choose this Hotel and resort because of price(£650 for 2 adults and one child) and within 2 hours of the U.K. *************** ****** It is only about half an hour away from the airport and the airport is very small so getting through it is usually pretty quick and easy, unless the baggage handlers are on a go-slow! *************** ******* On arrival at the hotel check-in was very quick and went to our room in the lift. *************** ******* The room was ample big enough for the three of us with 2 queen size beds and put you up bed for our son. In the room was satillite tv, air-conditioning and safe (payable). They had large double wardrobe and set of drawers The bathroom was ok with all the usual complimentary smellies. It had a shower over the bath, tiolet, Vanity unit and hairdryer. Towels were changed daily and sheets twice while we were there. *************** ******** Our room had a balcony that had a table and 2 chairs, it also had a very handy line to dry towels instead of hanging them over the balcony and a light if you like to seat outside in the evening, our room overlooked the swimming pool. *************** ******** The swimming pool was quite Big with sunbeds but could have done with more umbrellas. Also outside was the childrens club,mini-golf, playground, pool-table and small childrens splash pool separated from large pool,. The pool was ...

Sol Princesa Dacil, Tenerife 16/05/2007

Princesa Dacil Los Cristianos

Sol Princesa Dacil, Tenerife We stayed at Princesa Dacil in Los Cristanos last week july first week of August 2005. We travelled with friends and here is what we thought: Journey from the Airport took about half an hour so not to bad. On arrival at the hotel , I thought the hotel looked very 70's from the outside, which I suppose it was, inside we were through check-in very swiftly and given our room numbers, they had 4 lifts, which were very tempremental(which could be a problem sometimes as our friends had a 2 year old and we had to carry buggy up 6 flights of stairs a couple of times!). Our room was at the side of the hotel and had seaview but was also next to the fire- exit stairs so we didn't use the balcony much because of this, plus the birds liked to use it too. (leaving droppings) This said the room was really big for us( 2 adults and a 12 year old), it had large sitting area with double sofa bed, big wardrobe, desk with draws and tv. There's a separate double bedroom with wardrobe, drawers, dressing table with phone. The bathroom was also big, which was a nice suprise as you could actually bath and change in here without difficulty, it consisted of bath with shower( shower gel in a dispenser on the wall), vanity unit with hair-dryer and tiolet. The rooms didn't have air-conditioning, but the Superior rooms on the top two floors did of course at an extra charge. I would say the foyer and alot of the hotel needed up-dating but it is quite an old hotel compaired to ...

Cambrils Princess, Sitges 15/05/2007

Cambrils Princess (Cambrils- Salou)

Cambrils Princess, Sitges --------------- --------------- --------------- --------------- --------------- ----- We've been to salou and Cambrils a couple of times and with children there's plenty to keep them happy. There's Port Aventura well worth a visit, the beaches are good but found the beach at Cambrils a lot quieter. If you you go to Barcelona a must see if you're a football fan is the Nou Camp Stadium, and with the fella's now happy you can take the children to the zoo and finish off with a treat for the ladies Shopping is great. The hotel we stayed in was The Cambrils Princess in Cambrils(I think it is now called the Cambrils hotel . Lovely hotel and the food was excellent when we were there but that was a number of years ago now ,so don't quote me on that!..they had theme evenings in the restuarant and you were even serenaded too! The staff were very attentive and the waiters in the evening wizzed around. The entertainment in the evenings varied from an organist, magician, flamenco dancers and of course dancing and the spanish locals tend to come in for that. What my Husband and I enjoyed was ordering room-service for a late night snack and night-cap, you were charged of course ,but hell you're on holidays! Only problem was the bedrooms would only take 3 people so one of our children had to stay in with a relative in their room or we dragged the mattress from their room into ours but the maids didn't mind this. The rooms were comfortable with twin beds and ...

Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel, Paphos 13/05/2007

Louis Phaethon Beach

Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel, Paphos I was going to write a review of this hotel as we stayed here last summer but I must admit I can't think of anything you haven't covered. But I will try my best. On arrival at hotel.( It did look a little worn from first appearances). We stayed for 2 weeks last week of July, first week of August. I must say we booked half-board(paid about £1900 2adults & 1 child) ,so we didn't get served a welcome drink as all-inclusive guests do. A porter arrived to show us to our room and take our cases from us (which we found very helpful after a 4 hour flight). at least we were first stop from the airport. After some discussion we decided to up-grade to all-inclusive, (cost about £500 more)it was very hot and didn't want to be wandering about looking for somewhere for lunch and drinks were expensive if you weren't all-inclusive, turned out to be a very wise decision as we could hardly get our son from the pool. Our room was a side view overlooking the car park but a nice view also of the sea. The room was I would say a 3*,cleaned daily, it was clean looking too, with sitting area (or 2 beds) with tv,fridge, safe,(payable)double bed . More wardrobe space I think needed for a family of 4 or more although it was ample for the three of us. A balcony with a table and 2 chairs(why 2 when they know there are more than 2 in the room, I don't know). The bathroom again was dated but all the facilities you need ,shower over the bath, tiolet and vanity unit with ...

Corfu Chandris, Dassia 04/05/2007

Corfu Chandris Hotel, Dassia Corfu

Corfu Chandris, Dassia My husband and I went to this 4* thomson platinum hotel last October for our anniversary and we loved it. There are 2 sister hotels next door to each other and have wonderful panoramic views from the restaurants, you can use the facilities of both hotels but I would say The Dassia Chandris caters more for the children. We stayed in the Corfu Chandris it also as apartments and bungalows set in well manicured grounds, the other hotel is the Dassia Chandris both set on the beach and views are beautiful!! The weather was glorious apart from one day rain. Bedrooms were large and airy with lovely 6ft size bed,tv,lounge area, mini-fridge(though drinks were expensive from here and the bar). Plus point was the safe was free. Bathroom wasn't that big but had all the usual, shower over the bath, vainty unit, tiolet and all complimentary smellies and hairdryer. Most rooms had excellent views and ours overlooked the pool and had seaview. entertainment in the evening was a bit hit and miss, but not bad. Food in the restaurant was excellent and varied every day. Hotel had free bus into corfu town. The lobby in the hotel is very impressive with restaurant overlooking the sea. They also had at this hotel along with the pool an out-door whirl pool and splash pool for children. Loungers and umbrellas are limited but you can go on the beach, but you are charged I think 5 euros a day for both items, this is where we spent most of our time. There is also a ...
