Greenacres Holiday Park

British Holidays Greenacres Haven Holiday Park, Maybe i am biased as we own a caravan on this site, but after spending a few holidays here, we just wanted to be part of such a great park. Anyhow back to the park, Greenacres was originally a fantastic holiday park with everything you could possibly need on site, It had loads for the children to do , they have clubs like the Rory club for the really tiny ones, then Bradley's club for the over 4's , they even cater for the over 14's so even the ones with older children get a break. Once on site you see the reception area, which is very spacious, and the staff are very helpful, The have a recently refurbished on site shop, which you can buy everything you will need for either a few days or even a weeks holiday, from bread and milk, to wine and beers, if you need a last minute present and the gift shop is closed you can even buy Rory & Bradly gifts, plus many more. They used to have a pool side bar that served food, and an over 18's bar, where no children were allowed, and you could smoke in this bar too, But everything has changed they refurbished the entire complex over the winter the over 18's bar has gone as in wales the no smoking ban came into force on the 1st April, Instead of the pool side bar they now have a 200 seater pool side restaurant and grill bar, with plasma screens, and a vast choice of beers and wines. The ropeworks that used to be alongside the pool area has been demolished and the pool has been ...

The Muppets Christmas Carol (DVD) 23/12/2006

The Muppets at Christmas

The Muppets Christmas Carol (DVD) The Muppets Christmas Carol This has to be my favourite Christmas movie of all time, especially as you can relive your childhood at the same time. If you remember the Muppets like I do then you should really enjoy this, as will your children as I think it gets across the real message of Christmas but in a language the children can understand, especially with the characters. So on to the story itself, It starts like you would imagine in an empty street, filled with snow, with the atmosphere of Christmas all around. But then all seems to go astray as the townsfolk all played by the Muppets burst into song, it really is amazing, especially the puppeteers that manage to get it flawless as usual. Then along comes scrooge, who hates Christmas, so you can imagine the faces of the townsfolk, as the song that they are now singing is all about how bad scrooge is. After all it is the season to be jolly, and Christmas is the time for love and laughter. As you would probably guess the main Muppet characters get the lead parts with Gonzo being the narrator, with his new friend Rat. Kermit has the lead role of Bob , with the ever faithful Miss Piggy as his adoring wife, but there appears to be something going on or should I say have gone on as there are now 2 more pigs in the scene with Miss Piggy, and they are twins, but wait they are not alone they seem to have gained 2 frog sons too. So I think the stories were true that they really were a couple. ( you ...

Born And Bred - Series 1 (DVD) 05/09/2006

It's great up north

Born And Bred - Series 1 (DVD) Born and Bred This has to be my most favourite series to date, it's not like your normal run of the mill drama series, it really has got that something different…. The first series: This consists of a 2 disc set, which contains 5 episodes, Which probably doesn't sound a great deal, but when each episode is an hour long, But it doesn't seem that long when you are totally caught up in the action. It starts on a very happy note, its Len and Linda's wedding day, when Arthur who is the village doctor, decides to play mind games with his son. Tom (Arthur's son) arrives to be best man at the wedding, but not all goes according to plan, there are a series of incidents that really makes you think will the wedding ever go ahead, With this being set in the 1950's it really makes you think this is how people really lived in such a tight kit community. Once Arthur had made his plan the whole village seemed to be in on it. There are many that I can explain this series to you, but without spoiling the plot, it really is difficult, Basically, it's the 1950's and times they are a changing, and with the glow of post war peace, Arthur decides to create an aura of optimism, as the birth of the NHS, bringing in so many new changes to the Health System, his Lancashire Cottage Hospital could be under threat. He has to make a drastic decision. He has lived in the village of Ormston (this is where the series is set)., he is very keen to see his son return to the ...

Nightlong (PC) 09/05/2006

All Nightlong !!!!!

Nightlong (PC) NightLong, Union City Conspiracy The Outline: This is a fabulous strategy game for the PC, as I prefer PC games rather than the games console games, but that's my personal choice, any how, if you are looking for a game that will test you memory and really make you think, this is the game for you , especially as it is so encapsulating that you don't realise that you have been playing it for 7 hours straight. System requirements: Pentium 100MHz or compatible or faster Windows 95/98 with Direct X 5.0 16Mb RAM 4X speed CD ROM Drive 35Mb Hard Drive Space Direct X compatible Sound Card Super VGA Graphics Board with 1Mb Video RAM Windows compatible mouse (what ever all the above means, but you need them all to be able to benefit from the amazing graphic and sound from this game) The Game: There are 3 discs to this game, You are a private investigator Joshua Reev, something really dodgy has happened, but you owe someone a really big favour, and they have returned to have the favour granted……. Union City( where the game is based) has become the target of terrorist attacks, you on returning the favour must embark on the adventure to infiltrate the subversive organisation and find out there plans and sabotage their operations, you must prepare yourself for the journey as it may contain espionage and murder and places you in the centre of the web of intrigue where the only friends and companions you have are betrayal and deception. First Plus [TV Advertisement] 13/03/2006

Are they First?

First Plus [TV Advertisement] First Plus….. What do you think of when you hear these words? First Plus Getting you life back…….. Getting out of debt…… Reducing your monthly outgoings…….. I bet these are the things you think about, especially if you are in debt. After seeing these advertisements on Television for a while now, they are getting even more annoying. Carol Vordaman telling you how easy it is to take back control of your life and your finances. Yeah like she would know, the woman who gets paid thousands per year, has she ever known what its like to be in debt? I think not. You can just see the advert now, promising to solve all your worries, and take away the financial strain. And give you extra money to spend each month. Do you really believe them? They tell you that you can borrow £30 thousand for only £180 a month, yeah over 20 years, they don't tell you exactly what you will have paid after that 20 year term, or tell you exactly what the payments are. The figures that they advertise are just for the typical amount, but how many of use 'normal folk' ever get the typical rate. Non of us that's how many, they promise you all this spare money, but when you finally decide to go for the loan that's when it really hits you. Where has the typical rate disappeared to? Into oblivion, and suddenly the £180 per moth for the next 20 years becomes £260 per month for the next 20 years, but they have you, as you still think you are saving money, but your ...

Frank Zappa's Hot Licks - Colin Towns 11/03/2006

Carry On Smith........

Frank Zappa's Hot Licks - Colin Towns The Best of The Smiths…….. What can I say about this group, wrote songs that no-one understood, with lyrics that look as if they were just rubbish, when in fact they were very deep and meaningful lyrics. The album……. Well as you can see the is a piccy of the CD cover in the corner above so I won't waste time by explaining what it looks like as you can probably all see that for yourselves. So I won't do the explanation thing. The songs…… There are 23 songs in total, ranging from some old favourites to the last songs The Smiths did together before Morrisey went solo. The Songs…….. 1 - Panic - This tells of the Panic that people went through in different parts of England, especially over the music scene, that's why they keep saying 'Hang the DJ' 2 - The Boy With A Thorn In His Side - About a boy who hid hatred but a desire for love, but even when they looked into his eyes they never believed him. 3 - Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now - This tells of how even when you are looking for something you never know that you are going to happy when you find it, like looking for a job, will you be happy when you find it? 4 - Ask - All about shyness, and how it affects your life, as even when you need to ask something, you are too shy so never ask. As you are worried of the answer being NO. 5 - Bigmouth Strikes Again - This is a strange one, I think its about someone who has had an affair as on one hand its saying how much your hated, and that you ...

Airline Tycoon (PC) 04/03/2006

Dont' forget your duty free............

Airline Tycoon (PC) Airline Tycoon........ This PC CD Rom, is a great game, There are so many different tings that you have to achive. First you have to chose your player, very easy, Then this is where is begins, you can chose which method of game to play, i always choose the free play, this way, it makes it a bit easier to manage until you get the hang of the game. You arrive at your office, and there are so many different things in your office that have many functions, you have to figure out what they do. You start with two planes, you have to then choose the destinations that these planes are going to fly to and from, and also assign cargo to each plane, making sure that you can deliver on time. other wise you get fined. Once your destinations are in place and the cargo is right for the planes, (you can get help with this but you need an advisor) there is a cheat for this, but i'm not saying what it is, if you want to know you will have to ask me nicely. Then you need to arrange the flights and cargo on the planes in the book, making sure that there is no ovelapping of gates, otherwise your planes won't leave. You can tell if everything is ok by the red ' !' if this is visible you have a problem with the gate, this needs to be fixed. Once your planes are fully equipped again you will need to organise this, by sorting out staffing levels for each plane, ie, pilots, and attendants, this basically runs itself, unless there is a problem. But you will have to ...

PayPal 01/03/2006

No Pal of mine

PayPal Paypal - What a joke !!!! Most of us have hear of or about this company, who's slogan is 'the best and safest way to pay online' What a joke. I was until recently working for a great company selling clothing and accessories on eBay, and using paypal as the preferred method of payment as most of the buyers where from America, and nochex at the moment doesn't accept international payments, I had been enjoying my time, when suddenly out of the blue eBay closed my account, without any explanation. But to top this Paypal then decided that my account with them which I had only had for 6 months had suddenly become 'too high risk'. But with payments still being accepted into the account, which I think is a really stupid thing to do , they then froze my account, yes I was allowed to receive money, that was fine for them, but I was not allowed to request or send any payments. The came the list of things I had to do in order to restore my account access, so I thought if I send this, at least I will get my money back from them, so I faxed all the documents that they needed asking for proof of who I was, and proof of all my bank details, and bills and driving licence details. Also they needed proof that all the transactions that had gone through the account I now had to provide tracking information for all the items that had been paid for and dispatched, fine no problem, as I always keep copies of everything just in case. Then and this is the really annoying one, ...

Nectar Credit Card from American Express 21/02/2006

My Little Blue Square

Nectar Credit Card from American Express American Express Nectar card Whoever decided that it would be a great idea to combine an American Express credit card with Nectar points knew they would be onto a winner. Probably half of the nation has either had or has a nectar points card, and every time you spend money in certain shops, like, Adams, Debenhams or Sainsbury's, to name a few you get points for every £1 you spend. Great idea. But to get double points why not use the American Express Nectar credit cards as well, this way you get double the points. The application form can be done in two ways, you can either fill out the online application but you are not guaranteed an instant decision, or you can just pick up an application form from various retailers, we filled our in whilst at the Good Food Show, in Birmingham, they had a stand there and we had been thinking about getting one, so decided to fill the form in there and they send the form off to be processed. But if filling in the paper application form which is just a standard form with boxes and spaces for your details, your employment, income, usual details. Pop it in the post and if accepted you should receive your card within a few weeks, depending on how many they have to process, as it may be quicker than a few weeks. When the card arrives, it looks just like a normal credit card, but this is purple at the top and clear at the bottom, with a blue square on the right hand corner saying American Express. The Apr on this is ...

Comfort Easy Iron Fabric Conditioner/Enhancer 21/01/2006

Wrinkles

Comfort Easy Iron Fabric Conditioner/Enhancer Wrinkles? Comfort easy iron fabric conditioner, I have been using this for a few years now, and I found that it did reduce the amount of time that I spent ironing, which for my was a bad thing as I enjoy ironing. I know I must be mental, or mad, but I find it relaxing. Anyhow back to the fabric softener, the one I purchase is the 5 litre bottle from Costco, which costs about £3.46 including vat, but it can be purchased from most supermarkets, and other retail outlets. The bottle, it a pale silvery coloured bottle, what I mean is it's not white, but not silver, its kind of a mix of the two. One the front is the L shaped logo, with the iron that seems to appear from out of the shirts collar, as the picture is of a white shirt, surrounded by different shades of blue, and the words COMFORT in white writing, ad Easy Iron written in pink, and at the top of the l shaped logo, another pink label which says easy iron glide, for faster ironing. The bottle I get is very large and is heavy when first bought, but the normal size bottles are much easier to handle and are not as heavy. The liquid itself is a lovely pale blue colour, and when you remove the bottle cap you are greeted with a lovely aroma, not to overpowering, but not floral, more like a natural outdoor smell, you know the kind of smell that you get when you hang your washing outside during those long summer days, its that kind of fresh smell. The liquid is fairly thick, but this is because you don't' ...

Himalaya With Michael Palin (DVD) 18/01/2006

Fancy a walk?

Himalaya With Michael Palin (DVD) Himalaya - Michael Palin I am reviewing this 3 disc set on DVD, obviously, otherwise it wouldn't be a disc set. There are some extras on this DVD, they are: - Exclusive Pre-Trip Introduction on all three discs Extended Scenes Scene selection, There is over 90 minutes of Bonus Footage on this DVD It is rated 12, as there is moderate sexual detail. Running time approx 352 minutes. Also with subtitles, in English. Series producer & Director - Roger Mills Written and Narrated by Michael Palin The Packaging The man himself Michael Palin, the great man, and also a fantastic view of the Himalaya mountains. Well as you can guess from the title it is about the journey of one man, Michael Palin, who at his age is remarkably fit, and needed to be to go on this amazing journey. Rather than list all the separate titles of each scene that are on the DVD, I will try to explain what is so amazing about this DVD. After watching this for the third time, I am still amazed at the sheer will power of Michael Palin, as he goes from one altitude to another, his personal insight into this trip is by the means of explaining to the camera, his feelings on the places he visits, the people that he meets, and the views that take his breath away. From watching the first episode until I reached the final minute I was totally blown away by the factual content, and the knowledge that he obviously needed to know about the countries he was going to be ...

Costco (Shop) 16/01/2006

Money saving or not?

Costco (Shop) COSTCO Well today was the day I ran out of washing powder, I know it sounds silly but since I first went to Costco three years ago I refuse to spend so much on washing powder and fabric softener that the supermarkets what us to pay. Before you think that its been three years that this powder has lasted, don't be silly, I would smell pretty bad if it had. On average we go once a month and usually the washing powder that I get Persil Non-bio 9kg box £ 10.25 + vat ( cost £12.04), and comfort easy iron 5 litres £ 2.95 + vat ( cost £3.46). In the supermarkets they want to charge us £2.30 upwards for washing powder, and £1.85 upwards for comfort, well I would rather spend the £15.50 and I know that it will last me for 6 months, that's working on an average of 5 loads of washing a week. So it does save me some money. Also they do wine……..mmmm……wine…….Sorry, mind wondered a little then, anyway, they sell lots of wine and beers, but be aware that they all com as complete cases, so you can't just buy four cans of larger you get the case, like the wine comes by the box load, we get the Torres Sol, which in the shops sells for £ 4.99.-£5.25 a bottle, but here at Costco you can buy six bottles for £19.99, so if you do the sums based on £4.99 your saving £9.95. Then there are the kiddies juices, like apple and blackcurrant 3 litre bottle for £2.29, which is just slightly less than elsewhere. But Costco doesn't just sell, food, alcohol and washing products, oh no……. it ...

Portland Direct 14/01/2006

Great holidays at great prices.

Portland Direct Portland Direct, This is a great online travel agent, we have used this method of booking holidays for some time, and have never found it to be a problem, it is very easy and simple to use. Firstly you have to decided where you would like to go, and when, after that it is all plain sailing, you just enter the details of the country you would like to visit, for example in our case Ibiza, then enter a resort in that area example Santa Eulialia (think that's how its spelt), then you have to choose ho many adults and how many children are going to be going on this holiday, example 2 adults and 1 child. Next is the choice of hotel, example Fiesta Hotel Don Carlos, and this only comes in a half board but with other resorts or other countries you get the choice of self catering, half board or full board. You then have a choice of flights that you could have either day flight, night flight or no preference, I find that if you put no preference you get all the flights listed. Then you can choose to have free child places, if there any available in the hotel that you want to stay in, in the hotel that we stay in we got free child places until last year, but this year we got a discounted rate for the child price, so even though it wasn't free, you still save money. After putting in all this information yourself you have already saved yourself the travel agents fee, that you get charged if you go to a travel agent on the high street. After a short pause you get the ...
