Kodak EASYSHARE C663 17/10/2006

Excellent camera.

Kodak EASYSHARE C663 I'm 15, and in the past I have always used my mums camera when I've wanted it. Well, this summer I went on holiday with my dad to Cornwall. I decided to invest in a camera of my own. After several hours of leaflet delivering (Phew.. well worth it though) I had saved up £100. I used eBay to search for a suitable camera. Unfortunately I left it quite late, and this narrowed down my options. I found a few that I was interested in, but the Kodak EasyShare C663 was the only one that I would recieve before I left. I found it listed in the Argos catalogue for £180, well above my budget, but only £100 on eBay. After reviewing its specifications, I decided to buy, and, after some confusion with the delivery, recieved it three hours before I was due to leave! I put the battery on charge with a charger that came with the package and had a look at my new camera. Well, the holiday went well, and with two 1GB memoy cards (SD cards) I took almost 1000 pictures in a week. I found the camera extremely easy to use, with it's easily navigatable menus and all the right buttons in all the right places. I also took a few videos. The 2.5" screen made it very easy to view my photos. I found one feature of the camera especially useful. It has a new technology called "Perfect Touch." What this does is it restores the detail in parts of the picture that are either in heavy shadow, or under direct light. As we ended up on the beach in the evenings, I tried this out, and it worked ...

Amplexus - Various Artists 16/05/2006

The Postal Service have "delivered."

Amplexus - Various Artists The Postal Service are, for me, something special. After meeting each other working on Dntel's track, "The Dream of Evan and Chan", Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello formed The Postal Service in 2001. Ben Gibbard, from Death Cab For Cutie, is the vocalist. Most Death Cab fans will have heard of his side-project, and may even be a fan themself. The main concept of the band is simple. In December, 2001, Tamborello sent Gibbard a load of CDs that he had recorded of music he had created on the computer. Gibbard then changed the tracks and added lyrics. Occasionally, Chris Walla, Jen Wood and Jenny Lewis would also help, Walla adding guitar, drums and keybaord, and Wood and Lewis adding their sublime harmony to Gibbards soft voice. The best example of this harmony is the collaboration of Ben and Jenny in "Nothing Better". It is one of my personal favourites, and really shows off the ability of this band. "Give Up" took the pair 10 months to put together. It shows. The bands tendancy for perfection is what strikes me. I can't get enough of the.. almost implausible feeling I get when I listen to them. It's been scientifically proven that listening to music excites the same part of the brain as eating ice cream. Well I have brainfreeze! Although I know some will disagree, I have never heard better lyrics. The first thing you hear is, "Smeared black ink, Your palms are sweaty, and I'm barely listening...". "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight" sounds almost as though Jimmy ...

Cursed Thoughts

Ciao Poetry Challenge Hiya! Tips and advice wanted :) Not really based on anything inparticular, but I've tried to put hidden meaning in. I'd really love if you could make up a short story explaining the poem :) I don't expect many but anything will be much appreciated, thanks in advance :P Cursed Thoughts As I walk up to your bedroom window The petals of my rose are left behind The thorns in my side The pain in my mind There's nothing left inside Your poison stare, Your love affair, Your tangled hair, You wipe me bare My soul is leaving For a better place As you come near I can't embrace The thoughts of you Standing alone No one there No place called home I set out late I walk the darkness I shrug the rain And question your thoughtlessness The ring of fire Your bitter perfume The constant desire For a better room You pack me up And clear me out And leave me to beg And cry and shout But no one's listening No one cares All I'm given Are long cold stares I turn around I walk away But suddenly Another day It's you that's there It's you who cries Your cuts, your bruises Your streaming eyes I take the past As an uncertainty But give to you A guarantee I'll be your umbrella I'll be your coat I'll look after you I'll build a moat But as I sheltered you You crept inside You took a knife You stabbed my side I looked for refuge But I found none I thought to myself My day was done I'd tried my best You've broken me So ...

Greatest Hits - Blink 182 09/02/2006

Gone in the Blink of an eye...

Greatest Hits - Blink 182 Any Blink 182 fan such as myself will know that the Pop/Punk band split up and went there ways about a year ago. They released Blink 182 - Greatest Hits. I have a mixed opinion about this album. I mean, it is all their most popular songs. The huge hit "All The Small Things" happens to be one of my personal favourites. They have certainly taken the best from each of their albums. More strong well-known songs are "What's My Age Again?", "Dammit" and "I Miss You". This album has everything to show Blink at their best. So why don't I think that this album is perfect? Well, the first track in every album should be explosive, and have a beat that makes you want to tap your feet. Although Carousel is a chronologically accurate song, it doesn't possess the qualities needed for such an important position. It gets off to a slow start and takes over a minute for the singing to kick-in. Although Blink have created some irrisistable bubblegum-pop, when they miss the mark, they sound lightweight and commercial. This, as proved by Greatest Hits, turned out to be both Blink 182's blessing and curse. Although this album may contain some of their best songs, the length of the albums highlights the weaknesses of the band. In my opinion, this album is more a crowd-pleaser to attract those who may not have previously heard much of Blink 182. If you are a solid fan, I wouldn't recommend this album to you. But for those who want a summary of Blink in all their glory, this is more ...

The Undreaded Nightmare

Poetry I have always been interesting in writing poems, especially ones of a thought-proviking nature. This is one of the first peoms I have written, and the first to share amongst others. I know it's not very good at the moment... It would be really helpful if anyone could give me some much needed pointers. Thankyou! :) Will xxx THE UNDREADED NIGHTMARE As I try to wake up You force my eyes shut You push and press so hard it bleeds I try to stand Try to jump But you're always there Holding me down Down down down You pressure me into external slumbers My body lies Unmoving Uncaring Reflecting the utter impossibility of the undreaded nightmare The pleasures to come Seem so far Always flying out of reach You waste yourself On that which is lost And loose yourself on that which could be real Your icy stare penetrates me so deep So deep it leaves a scare Mentally undecided You leave me trying to balance on the point of a knife Surrounded by the dead ends and abandoned utterances So common to you Yet so painful to others It makes the common mortals heart bleed into yet another undreaded nightmare. ...

Monster Truck Madness (N64) 17/11/2005

These monster trucks haven't left the start line.

Monster Truck Madness (N64) I got this game when I first got my N64. I was at first pleased with the game, it looked good. I mean... guns .. and monsters trucks. I thought that I could have a good go at this game. Smash some stuff up and completely crush the enemy!!! All you game-players you know what I'm talking about. The tracks are covered in hills, dips and jumps. You expect some good handling and controls to make this game playable. However this game was a total failure in that respect. In other games, eg rally games, power turning, skidding, whatever you wanna call it, it's always possible. You would have thought even more so in a monster truck. But no, when you try, your truck just stops abruptly, usually causing you to lose the whole race. And when you try to keep up your speed and take a corner at speed, but without trying to skid, you end up skidding right off the course!!! Half of the power-ups seem to aid your opponents more than harm them. The speed-boosts usually cause you to end up veering off the course or rolling over. And the force-field, supposed to knock other players off the track, usually ends up propelling them further ahead. The inability to catch up with your opponents when you get behind is an extremely frustrating flaw to the game. One mistake and it's easier to restart the whole race over, than try to catch up.... this usually results in you throwing the controller into the wall!!! There are a few good points to the game. There is a good variety in the tracks, ...

Epson Stylus Color 760 17/11/2005

Epson now out of date, get a newer one!

Epson Stylus Color 760 I have had my Epson Stylus Color 760 for several years now and, although it was at the top of the range when I first purchased it, now it seems to old, and I'm looking to buy a newer version. It's an ok printer for what it is. But it is heavy and bulky and hard to fit into small office spaces. My workspace at home is only just big enough to fit the printer inside it, and I have to remove the backpaneling of my desk to insert more paper or new ink! It's been taken to be repaired three times already... and I'm going to have to take it in again shortly because the printer heads have somehow broken. Also the fact that it's an inkjet printer... it's extremely slow even at printing pictures. Okay.. lets not be too harsh, it does have a few good points. It's cheap because it's older, and if all you need to print off is text then by all means this is a great printer for you. But the majority or computer users want to print off a variety of media, pictures, graphs etc. It is extremely easy to use. Just insert the CD, instal the software, plug the printer in and your ready! Anyone can use it. As I said, for the minority who only want to print of text with few graphics, this is a good printer for you. But make sure you have the room before you buy. But to the majority of people in this day and age I don't recommend it to them. ...

X&Y - Coldplay 17/11/2005

Coldplay - X and Y, a superb album

X&Y - Coldplay This album is a fine example of Coldplay at the height of their success. It was quite clear when I first heard this album that it was certainly Coldplay's best so far. The emotion put into it is just sublime. Instant fan favourites include "Fix you", "White Shadows", "Low" and "Twisted logic", as shown in the advantages. Speed of Sound is also a well-thought out track. But included in this album are several more subtely amazing songs. "What if", my personal favourite, begins as a slow, emotional piano song, but gradually biulds up into huge crescendo, showing the finest piece of talent, and artwork, and, in my opinion, their best song yet. The final bonus track, "Til kingdom comes", was written for Johhny Cash ... who unfortunately passed away before he could record it. It makes a fitting end to this excellent album. Coldplay have definately come up with some of the best, thought-provoking lyrics certainly of this century so far. This album was one of the most eagerly waited of this year, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Tracklist: 01. Square One 02. What If 03. White Shadows 04. Fix You 05. Talk 06. X & Y 07. Speed Of Sound 08. A Message 09. Low 10. The Hardest Part 11. Swallowed In The Sea 12. Twisted Logic 13. 'Til Kingdom Come (Bonus Track) ...

Kodak EASYSHARE CX7330 16/11/2005

Excellent all-round camera

Kodak EASYSHARE CX7330 I bought this camera because I wanted a camera for leisure activities and holidays and family pics etc. It has a huge variety of functions, and I found it very easy to use. It is 3.1 megapixel which is suitable for personal use. I bought the printer dock with it and found that the print quality is great and it is so easy to use. I found the instruction manual helpful, and informative and straight to the point. And the phone customer services were great. The only downside I can see to this product is the short battery life. However, with a printing dock which also charges the camera, I have had no problems. I managed to upload my pictures and videos to the computer first time of trying and it really wasn't difficult. The EasyShare software included is really useful. And the "Share" function on the camera also makes things so much easier, selecting your favourite pictures so that they are easier to upload/print. I found the picture quality good, although when a contrast of distances is used, for example an object in the foreground and an object in the far background, either one can come out blurry. But then this is a problem with most digital cameras. In my opinion this is a great camera for leisure photos etc, however I wouldn't advise to anyone wanted to use it for proffesional or art photography. ...
