Excellent service and good value I believe lovefilm to be one of the better rental services out there. It works out a lot cheaper than renting from the shops and they have a massive range which is organised very well. The account was very simple to set-up and you can get a 2 week free trial. Blu rays are available at no extra cost as well. Games are available but they cost extra for the subscription. Fast turnaround. I post one back Monday and receive a new film Wednesday. You can prioritise films in queue which is good so if there is one film you really want to see you can put a higher priority on it. You also watch a selection of films online through the computer which is a brilliant idea i think. They also email you to say that you have a film on the way and what it is. Usually you get this email the night before it arrives. I have however had 3 faulty discs that skipped in the film. I checked the discs and they were scratched so they need to have some way of checking them when receiving them back. You can however notify them on the packet and they send another one to you.

Canon PowerShot A1100 IS 24/06/2010

Very good for the price!

Canon PowerShot A1100 IS I think this camera is fanatastic and suitable for most needs. Main features ; 12.1 Megapixel camera, 4x optical zoom with optical Image Stabilizer and 2.5” LCD with OVF Smart Auto and Easy modes featuring Scene Detection Technology and DIGIC 4 for quality images Auto Red-Eye Correction, Face Detection, Face Select & Track and Face Self-Timer Combats blur with Motion Detection Technology, optical Image Stabilizer and ISO Auto Contrast boosts brightness in dark areas whilst retaining detail in brighter areas My thoughts The camera is quite a good size. Not too small or not too big. Fits in the hand comfortably. Image quality is very good in all lighting conditions. I can compare it to my cannon DSLR and its close to being the same. Photos are taken quite fast and the controls are very easy to use. It takes normal AA batteries and you can get quite allot of photos from them. I have some 2000mah batteries in mine and the battery level hasn't dropped yet and i have taken around 100 photos so far with about 5 mins video. The beauty of this is you can carry spare batteries with you and never miss that shot! It has most of the features that the big fancy cameras have. Features like Long shutter mode (good for night images) Program mode. This allows to adjust settings like exposure and iso levels It can detect which way round you are taking the photo for playback use Image stabiliser for fast moving objects Custom colours can also be set for adjusting the ...

Toshiba SD-290 24/06/2010

Excellent dvd player but mine keeps crashing!

Toshiba SD-290 Good dvd player with scart connections. I was suprised how good the picture and sound was on my samsung 40 inch tv with this dvd player hi-resolution PAL progressive scan Plays DVD,DVR-R/-RW,DVD-R DL,DVD ROM,DVD+R/+RW,DVD+R DL,CD AUDIO, CD DA,CD-R/-RW,SVCD,VIDEO CD Standard features for a dvd player but it has a usb 2.0 slot with divx support. This is good as you can plug in memory cards and play movies etc off of that. It can also read jpg images and play mp3s from the disc or usb. The player has component and scart output. Coaxial audio out too. The remote is simple and the whole unit is simple to use. The player is very wide but slim and not very deep. Player is nice and quite once in the film. Loading the disc you can hear the lens moving around quite clearly. For the price it is good but mine has crashed about 5 times whilst watching a dvd and the only way to resolve this is to unplug the mains cable and plug it back in. The buttons do nothing in this state. Hopefully that was a problem with mine It would get an extra star if it didnt crash ...

Samsung DVD-H1080 24/06/2010

Good idea and nice size. Lipsync is out on it!

Samsung DVD-H1080 Nice looking dvd player with HDMI output. Tiny in size and very stylish. Remote is easy to use. Picture quality is really good on my samsung 40 inch tv. Audio quality is also very good. Problem is they are out of sync noticably. I tried about 10 dvds that i have watched before on my other players and had no issues with them. I also tried new hdmi cables and composite video cables too with no luck. I tried every setting on the device and nothing really helped or solved it. In the end it went back to Amazon and i got a full refund as it was starting to drive me mad and i couldnt pay attention to the film! It was such a shame as apart from this it would have been brilliant. ...

Syma S026 Coaixal Blade Tandem Chinook Cargo Transporting Helicopter 24/06/2010

Fantastic for the price

Syma S026 Coaixal Blade Tandem Chinook Cargo Transporting Helicopter These little helicopters are excellent fun and value They can move in all directions and are very easy to fly. They charge in under 1 hour on the mains charger mine came with. Please note that not all of them come with a mains charger and you have to charge them off the remote. Defiantly get one with a charger. They are easy to setup using the trim controls. They are indoor only helicopters as they are so light and small that the slightest breeze and there off! Mine has proven to be very strong. Not 1 breakage in the many many crashes i have had. Some of them i have even though ouch but yet it is still fine! They fly for about 6-8 mins on a full charge and are plenty of fun. Very good for winding up the cats. You can get different channel versions so that you can fly more than one at a time for double the fun! Suitable for the whole family. ...

Borderlands (PS3) 24/06/2010

Excellent, brilliant fun and long lasting

Borderlands (PS3) This game is brilliant Its sort of a cross between fallout 3 and a shootemup The games is mission/quest based and has a main story line. There are also side jobs you can do for people for extra cash and goodies. The combination of weapons is unbelievably huge and you never see exactly the same weapon twice. There is allot of adult humour involved so maybe not to suitable for the young ones. The maps as well are a decent size and it does take some time to complete. (with the DLC it should take you about 3 or 4 weeks to do averaging a couple hours a day) The game itself on the ps3 runs smooth most of the time but if you have a lot going on in a multi player game it can lag a little. The graphics are good and a little strange. They are a cross between cartoon and reality which really works! Multi player is tremendous fun looking for hidden weapons and goodies and generally having a blast I would defiantly recommend this to any one who likes shootemups along with humour. I am hooked on this game! It reminds me of the good old days of duke nukem 3d on the pc! ...

Tomtom One 24/06/2010

Must have for any navigation needs!

Tomtom One These tomtom units are fanatastic. The IQ routes are a brilliant idea avoiding known busy junctions etc depending on the time. This really does make a difference avoiding the traffic jams. Just make sure you plug your tomtom in to the computer to get latest information. The lane gudiance is also very helpfull for me as it gives you plenty of time to prepare especially on busy exit ramps where you can go 2 ways. This just saves confusion and panic! These units are very fast to turn on and get signal. The speaker is loud and clear. The screen is clearly visible in all lighting conditions and is adjustable. The tomtom units are so easy to operate even first time users shouldnt have a problem using it. The suction cup mount has been improved. Now you have to turn a knob to suck it to the screen. For the 4 months that i have had mine i have not had it fall off like the old ones. You also get the very latest maps guaranteed when you buy it which is always a good thing! Battery life seems to be good but i tend to leave mine plugged in. I did forget once and it ran fine for the 2.5 hour journey i had. In my opinion you cannot go wrong at all with tomtom devices. I have had garmin devices before but still prefer the tomtom. This device is perfect for people who just want a sat nav. If you need the more advanced features like handsfree bluetooth calling then go for a tomtom go! ...

Apple iPhone 3GS 32GB 22/06/2010

Excellent all round device

Apple iPhone 3GS 32GB Overall a very good device with good looks and a good feel in the hand. Build quality is very good with no creeking at all and it feels like it should last. Software and usability- Easy to use and understand. Very simple and effective layout. Huge range of applications available to fuffil most peoples needs. I havent had any problems finding any software or game types that i like. New book store and reader if you like books. This works very well and can also read pdfs from emails etc. Especially with the ios4 update that came out yesterday it just tops it off nicely. Multitasking is brilliant! Suitable for all ages with a good range to suit all needs. Web browsing is a dream on this device. Very fast on a good connection. Best of any phone out there in my opinion. Vast improvement over the iphone 3g and its predecessors' Hardware - The touch screen is very responsive and clear in all lighting conditions. Works very well outside in the sun. (not very common with new phones) Call quality is very good and clear. No problems here Very good camera for 3.2mp in my opinion. Video recording is also very smooth and clear and easy to upload to youtube etc. The touch to focus is a genius idea and is absoloutly fantastic. Battery life may seem short but just think of what your doing with it and it soon makes sense. I generally charge it once a day if i have been using it allot. Conclusion This is truly a device that can take with you and have most areas coverd ...

Nokia N97 22/06/2010

N97 very good as a phone for the techies out there!

Nokia N97 The Nokia N97 is targeted towards the techies out there. Just the design and qwerty keyboard make it look more like a micro laptop than a phone. The unit itself has a very good feel in the hand almost like a comfortable brick! That however it does feel like it will last. I owned an n97 for 3 weeks and here is my experience with the device . Usability and software - The phone itself is a little tricky to use if you are not used to nokia symbian devices. Chances are though if you are looking at buying this device then you currently have a symbian device or similar. If you have no experience with symbian or smartphones then I strongly recommend trying one in the shops or a friends unit. Remembering to fully exit programs is a must as leaving them running will eat the battery life. The phone is packed with the normal features as you would expect from a smart phone and more software can be added. The web browser is practical and does work very well. However it is nothing compared with the iPhone when it comes to speed and usability etc. If you are just browsing mobile sites then this shouldn't be an issue. The homescreen has been changed on these devices as you can now have widgets which can display all sorts of usefull things like twitter feeds and facebook statuses. Nokia maps is now free and is very good. In my opinion it is nearly as good as a dedicated unit like a tomtom for example. The email program works nicely and is good for basic email needs. I had no ...
