David Beckham Beyond Eau de Toilette 09/09/2016

Beckham scores again.

David Beckham Beyond Eau de Toilette **INTRODUCTION** I have been impressed by several fragrances within the David Beckham range and when I heard that there was a new fragrance being released I was eager to try it. As I had run out of eau de toilette I decided that my next fragrance would be "Beyond" As usual this fragrance is available in a number of different sizes and there's also the shower gel and deodorant options in the range. There's yet to have been a David Beckham fragrance that I haven't liked and over the years I have owned most of the fragrances in either deodorant or fragrance form. **BEYOND** This fragrance was released in 2015 and is the latest in a long line of fragrances from the David Beckham range. The scent was created by perfumer Nelly Hachem-Ruiz. It has a fresh, fruity scent to it which is very pleasant and impresses from the off. Below I have included the various notes which are featured in this fragrance. I like the combination of fruity notes with woody notes as it combines to give a distinctive and appealing scent, It's a popular combination which again works well here. The fragrance isn't as expensive as you might find with others but it will last pretty well and you should get a good 2-3 hours of each notes. Top Notes Grapefruit, Mojito accord, Cardamom Heart Notes Black pepper, Cedarwood, Geranium Base notes Patchouli, Vanilla, Leather **OVERALL** I would recommend this fragrance to anyone who likes the David Beckham fragrances, For me it's most like the essence fragrance, ...

Dove Men Extra Fresh Body And Face Wash 29/07/2015

Clean with dove

Dove Men Extra Fresh Body And Face Wash **INTRODUCTION** When it comes to deodorants and shower gels I like to shop around and find some excellent deals on products that I have not bought before. One of the more recent purchases I made was Dove Men+Care, I remember trying a bottle of a Dove shower gel or body wash before and liked it so when I was in Boots yesterday I decided to opt for an offer on the body wash which is currently available at 2 for £4. I think it's a great deal as the tubes are 400ml and will therefore last well. These are normally £3.79 so you know that it's a bargain. The gel has a nice green colour and feels good on the skin. **THE SCENT** This is a really pleasant scent, It has a nice fresh feel and the subtle fragrance, The more expensive fragrances are much more noticeable in terms of what they smell of, There is a slightly fruity scent here with a leafy herb twist which remains subtle. All in all it is a very pleasant scent which gets better when mixed with water in the shower or bath. I have used it as a shampoo and it also makes your hair smell nice too as well as your skin. The lack of a particular scent might put off some but it doesn't really bother me as it does have one, it's just not as noticeably pinned down as some others. **THE RESULTS** This is another key aspect of the body wash. It really cleanses your skin well and is a refreshingly cool gel which works well in any situation but works particularly with warm skin in the summer as it refreshes without irritation thanks ...

Onmyradio - Musiq (Soulchild) 27/07/2015

This is on my radio

Onmyradio - Musiq (Soulchild) **Introduction** If you are a regular reader of my music reviews then you will probably have read at least one review of a Musiq Soulchild album as he is one of my favourite artists around today. With five albums to date he has carved out a very successful solo career since his debut album "Aijuswanaseing" was released in 2000. Since then he has won many awards for his music and has worldwide albums sales topping 15m records. He released his fifth album last year and this is the album I am reviewing now. **OnMyRadio** Realising this album was not yet up on dooyoo I decided to request it as I wanted to take one step further in my goal of reviewing all the albums I own from some of my favourite artists which I slightly went away from over the past couple of months due to writing reviews about new music I had come across. OnMyRadio was released in December 2008 and features Mary J Blige and Damien Marley. The album topped the Billboard R&B chart soon after the album's release. 1 Back Again This is a funky up tempo track which has a great beat and some nice claps. His voice is flowing and this is a good starter to the album which shows one side of Musiq Soulchild. 2 Until This track changes things a bit with an interesting mid tempo ballad feel thanks to a jumpy beat and Musiq's gentle vocals. This track has a good flow and is one of the catchiest on the album. 3 If U Leave - Mary J. Blige, Musiq (Soulchild) Next up we have the fantastic duet with Mary J Blige. This ...

Diary of Alicia Keys - Alicia Keys 27/07/2015

Alicia's personal diary

Diary of Alicia Keys - Alicia Keys ...Introduction... Alicia Keys has become one of the biggest female solo singers in the world, she has acheived this with her amazing combination of great voice, piano playing and songwriting ability. This is her second release of her four albums and was released in 2003. On this album Keys worked with two of the most well known producers in the business in Kanye West and Timbaland. Here is my review of her album The Diary Of Alicia Keys. ...The Album... 1.) Harlems Nocturn This is a short piano intro to the album which is very flowing and then a hip hop beat comes pounding in. This opening shows how the album feels. Beautiful piano accompanied by a taut hip hop beat. 2.) Karma This is a very musically driven track with a great catchy feel. Alicia's voice is surrounded by a combination of strings and a funky hip hop beat. This is a great uptempo track that has a great subject matter about getting what is coming to you. 3.) Heartburn This is a very dynamic track that features production from Timbaland. I love the feel of this track and it sounds amazing. Alicia's voice flows through the lyrics brilliantly with the backing music keeping a dynamic pulse. 4.) If I was your woman/walk on by This is a great track as it is very interesting. A ballad like feel with some firm beats and bass hooks that give the track an incredible edge. One of the most interesting tracks she has done. 5.) You Don't Know My Name This track was a huge single from the album and is about the ...

Brothers and Sisters [Remastered] - Allman Brothers Band (The) 25/07/2015

Allman's Brother

Brothers and Sisters [Remastered] - Allman Brothers Band (The) **Introduction** I reviewed "Where it all begins" the 1994 release from The Allman Brothers Band a while ago after getting into them seriously after hearing their newer material with the obvious influence of Government Mule. My interest also comes from a couple of documentaries about the band and from Gregg Allman's TV performances of songs from his solo album "Low country blues" in 2011. I would probably say that I prefer the more up to date stuff from the band which now includes Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, Trucks is the son of the drummer Butch Trucks but the early work is what certainly brought me to become a real fan of the band. **Brothers & Sisters** This was a tough album to make, the first Allman Brothers Band studio album recorded after the deaths of Duane Allman and bassist Berry Oakley appeared on the first two tracks, He was replaced by Lamar Williams after his death. Oakley died in a motorcycle accident just three blocks from where Duane Allman had died the previous year. Many bands would not have been able to comeback from such tragic deaths but despite losing his brother, Gregg Allman took the band forward with the help of the newcomers. Brothers & Sisters is the fifth studio album from The Allman Brothers Band 1.) Wasted Words This is a catchy opener with an early Lynyrd Skynyrd sound, no suprise as they were around at the same time and were both pioneers in the Southern Rock genre. The track is the first of the two songs which feature Berry Oakley ...

Journey of a Gemini - Donell Jones 23/07/2015

Donell's Gemini Journey

Journey of a Gemini - Donell Jones **Introduction** Back to the music reviews now with this release from R&B singer Donell Jones. You may remember his massive hit "U Know What's Up" which I remember from His "Where I wanna be" album which was released back in 1999. Although he has had released albums since then he has not had that kind of success in the charts he has had more acclaim from the critics who have given his previous two albums rather positive reviews. **Journey Of A Gemini** Journey Of A Gemini is the fourth solo album from Donell Jones. Released in June 2006 this album features collaborations from Jermaine Dupri, Bun B & Clipse. This album is typical of the way it has gone for Donell Jones since his big hit U Know What's Up. The album received little promotion from the record label due to a merger at the time between Song and BMG which ran into complications. However the album received very good reviews from a number of critics who praised the album. 1.) Special Girl This is a mid-tempo opening track which features a firm beat and smooth vocals from Donell Jones and the backing vocalists. This is a mix of a ballad and a more uptempo track and gets the album off to a decent if a little uninspiring start. The best is yet to come. 2.) Better Start Talking - feat. Jermaine Dupri This is an uptempo track which has a Neyo, Chris Brown like sound which I am not that impressed by as I know Donell Jones can do a lot better and is more talented than both of them. A decent enough track but could be ...

Lacoste Original Eau de Toilette 23/07/2015

Another good Lacoste fragrance

Lacoste Original Eau de Toilette **Introduction** Not long after Christmas a couple of years ago I bought an Emporio Armani Diamonds Gift Set from Boots which was in the sales and I recently looked for a new fragrance after the Emporio Armani Diamonds Eau De Toilette was running out. I looked in my local Boots and Debenhams and online and decided to try a number of fragrances in store. I wanted to get something I had not owned before and after a few tries I opted for Lacoste Original as I had owned a couple of Lacoste Fragrances before and I liked this particular one when I tried it in Debenhams. This particular fragrance has been part of a strong ad campaign from Lacoste with two other fragrances in this particular range of Lacoste fragrances. **The Fragrance** I was impressed from the first spray of this and as I wanted to make sure I got a good purchase I tried it a couple of times more to contrast and compare this one to others I tried and ones I had owned previously. This fragrance is Fresh and masculine with a lovely fruity & spicy scent. The fragrance is widely available in eau de toilettes, after shaves and also as a deodorant. It has been a popular fragrance since it's release and you must have seen the adverts on TV. TOP NOTES This fragrance opens with the fruity notes of Plum and Apple, The top notes also include Lime, Lavender, Sage, Bergamot and Lemon. I was impressed on my first test of this fragrance and these opening notes were obviously initially what attracted me to buying the ...

First Love - Karina 21/07/2015

Karina's first love

First Love - Karina **Introduction** Up until a few days ago all I knew of Karina Pasian was that she was a singer. This all changed when one of my facebook friends posted a link for a video on youtube which featured Miss Pasian. As this facebook friend had previously posted a video link for a song which I thought was amazing I thought I would click on this new link and see what I thought. After doing a bit of googling on Karina Pasian I realised that it was her birthday on the day I actually searched. She is 18 years old as of 18th July. The New York born Pasian of Dominican and Armenian descent was interested in music from an early age starting to learn Piano aged just three and then having a vocal coach at the age of eight. She met the legendary Quincy Jones in 2003 and he was impressed with her talent. In 2006 She was such hot property even then that three big record companies were after her. Def Jam, Interscope, and Bad Boy Records. She signed a deal with Def Jam and in 2008 she released her debut album First Love. **First Love** The album was released on August 19, 2008 and features two singles, "16 @ War" and "Can't Find The Words. The album debuted at 57 in the Billboard charts and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Album. During the recording of the album, There were a staggering 70 tracks which she had recorded. Eventually eleven tracks were chosen for the album and we shall see whether any of them are released in the next couple of years if her popularity gets ...

It's Five O'Clock Somewhere - Slash 21/07/2015

Join me in Slash's Snakepit

It's Five O'Clock Somewhere - Slash **Introduction** As a big fan of Guns N Roses I was interested to hear other material from Legendary guitarist Slash. Over the past few years Slash has been making music with Velvet Revolver and also is in the process of recording a new album with guest vocalists. Before his time in Velvet Revolver though he was in Slash's Snakepit. The band were made up of former Guns N Roses members Matt Sorum on drums and Gilby Clarke on rhythm guitar as well as Mike Inez on bass guitar and Eric Dover on vocals. The line up was completed in 1994 and work began on this album which would be released in 1995. **It's Five O'Clock Somewhere** Released in February this album was a critically acclaimed album despite the fact that it only reached number 70 on the Billboard Charts. The album was somewhat of a departure from the style of Guns N Roses and featured a more Bluesy feel whilst still keeping that heavy rock feel. As well as the band members there are some other musicians who performed on the album and they are as follows. Dizzy Reed - keyboards, backing vocals Teddy Andreadis - harmonica Paulinho da Costa - percussion **Track Listing** 1 Neither Can I The album opens with the Bluesy "Neither Can I" which features a slide guitar opening which then develops with the drums and other guitar effects. This is a very good start to the album and shows that whilst Slash's guitar playing is as brilliant as ever he still has excellent musicians around him here. Great start. 2 Dime Store ...

Unusual Suspects - Leslie West 21/07/2015

Leslie West's Unusual suspects

Unusual Suspects - Leslie West **INTRODUCTION** Over the past few years I have become a fan of Leslie West and he's now one of my favourite guitarists. He's certainly one of the best artists to still be recording into their sixties. He will turn 70 in October and a new album is rumoured to be released around then, He took a bit off time off in the early 90s but since 1999 he has released seven solo albums and also recorded a few with Mountain. He shows no signs of quitting despite diabetes causing him to lose his right leg at the knee. He is still worthy of the affectionate nickname"The King of Tone" by his legions of fans. **UNUSUAL SUSPECTS** This is the 12th studio album from Leslie West and was released on 19th September 2011. The album features collaborations with Slash, Joe Bonamassa, Steve Lukather, Billy Gibbons and finally Zakk Wylde. The album was released on Provogue label. The album received praise from critics. Here's my review of the album. 1. One More Drink for the Road This is a catchy drinking song featuring Steve Lukather, It has a fantastic melody and some catchy guitar licks. It develops really well and both West and Lukather show some great guitar work. The piano in the background is an excellent addition and makes a difference to the overall sound. The guitar solo towards the end just tops things off wonderfully well. 2. Mud Flap Momma This is a fantastic collaboration with Slash, The two guitarists showcase their obvious ability as West showcases his powerful vocals. Slash ...

One by One - Foo Fighters 19/07/2015

One of the Foo's best

One by One - Foo Fighters ...Introduction... Since Dave Grohl was the drummer in early nineties Grunge band Nirvana with Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic he has been the lead singer and guitarist of the band Foo Fighters. Their first album "Foo Fighters" was released in 1995 and was their most similar to the music he performed in Nirvana. Over the following albums the band developed their sound and with 2002's release of One by One they had finally carved their best sound. Here is my review of that album One By One. ...Album Review... 1.) All My Life This is one of the best singles they have released and is one of the most recognisable songs in the genre. A biting guitar intro with Grohls voice and then the drums from come pounding in from Taylor Hawkins. This is one of the biggest tracks they have done. A fantastic intro to the album. 2.) Low This starts with pounding drums and some dirty guitars. Grohl shows off his voice to good effect. Not as good as the opening track here but still worth listening to all the way through. There are Some subtle backing guitar parts to listen out for. 3.) Have It all This is not one of my favourites on the album but is a good track which has pounding drums and flowing guitar. It just fails to create that spark that their best tracks create. Still a good enough track though. It will have it's appeal. 4.) Times like these Another great single, this starts with some fantastic integration between Bass and Electric Guitars and then the drums come in. This is the ...

Adidas Deep Energy Deodorant Body Spray 19/07/2015

Adidas Energy

Adidas Deep Energy Deodorant Body Spray **Introduction** Over the years I must have tried over 20 different deodorants and one of the brands that I have used several times is Adidas, They produce a wide range of good value deodorants that are widely available. I bought a can of this a while ago after going a couple of years without buying any Adidas deodorants as I was trying the likes of Ted Baker and FCUK. It can be found for around £2 but you can often find it for much less on various offers in supermarkets, boots and places like Poundland and Wilkinsons so it's worth looking around for the best price, especially if you are looking to cut back on prices. The can looks quite good and has the well known Adidas look which will appeal. **The Scent** Now onto the most important aspect of the deodorant, how it smells, Well it smells rather nice and features top notes of bergamot and mandarin orange. The scent then moves into the middle notes of violet, cardamom, apple and blue lavender before closing with the base notes of texas cedar, guaiac wood, patchouli, amber and musk. This fragrance won't last as long as the more expensive deodorants but you wouldn't really expect it to, What it does give is a decent and very pleasant scent which will combine well with the shower gel and refresh you. This fruity, woody fragrance will impress and I would consider buying again next time I need to restock on deodorant. It's worth trying the shower gel too. **Overall** This is a very good deodorant which lasts quite well and ...

Lacoste Elegance Deodorant Stick 17/07/2015

Another elegant scent from Lacoste

Lacoste Elegance Deodorant Stick **INTRODUCTION** Over the years I have owned a number of deodorants from the more up market brands like Lacoste and Calvin Klein. One such deodorant stick I have owned is the Lacoste Elegance which I found in a gift set along with the eau de toilette. This has been around since 2009 and is available for around £15 on it's own. This is a decent price compared to some and it's worth going for, for reasons which I will explain later in this review. **The Fragrance** Now we come to the all important scent test. I have always liked Lacoste fragrances for their good quality scent and their staying power. They aim to again combine these two attributes here and here are the results in my opinion. This is a deodorant stick that keeps to the fragrance you get with the eau de toilette and that is quite refined yet has Lacoste's trademark sparkle and fresh fun scent. This has become one of my favourite fragrances from Lacoste for it's freshness and also for it's suitability for a number of ocassions. TOP NOTES This fragrance kicks off with bright and fresh notes of peppermint, Juniper and tyhme to give a minty scent which is very pleasant and has the absolute right balance between freshness and powerful scent. The top notes typically last around 3-4 hours before blending into the middle or "heart" notes. HEART NOTES This gives the fragrance an interesting blend of fruit with Raspberry but also a muskier tint thanks to the inclusion of nutmeg, black pepper and cardamom. This gives ...

RL (Ements) - RL 17/07/2015

In his element

RL (Ements) - RL **Introduction** I came across the album after searching around on amazon for some new cds. I was well aware of RL from his time in Next and liked a few of their songs so I gave the album a go. Robert Lavelle "R.L." Huggar is the lead singer of R&B group Next, they have just released their fourth studio album as a group with "Deponce" taking over from Raphael "Tweety" Brown when he left the group in 2007 due to pursuing his own solo career. **Solo Career** As the lead singer of Next it was no suprise when RL embarked on a solo career. RL's first release outside of Next was the duet with Deborah Cox called "We can't be friends" This was followed up by the track "Best Man" which was as part of an R&B supergroup also featuring Tyrese, Ginuwine and Case which featured on the Soundtrack to the 1999 film The Best Man. It was not until 2002 that RL actually started recording his debut solo album. Here's my review of his debut album "Ements" **Ements** The debut album was released in 2002 and features collaborations from Erick Sermon, Shaheed "The Poster Boy", Snoop Dogg and Lil' Kim. The album features the singles Good Man, Got Me A Model and Good Love. RL started work on The album without the knowledge of his bandmates in Next which caused friction between RL and Tweet who later left the group to pursue his own solo career. 1.) Elements This is a short introduction to the album which showcases his emotive vocals and is a decent intro to the album. 2.) Got Me A Model This ...

Uncle Sam - Uncle Sam 15/07/2015

Listen to Uncle Sam

Uncle Sam - Uncle Sam **Introduction** I have mostly written music reviews on well known artists but as I listen to a huge amount of different music I have sometimes brought new artists to the members of dooyoo. I requested this album to be put up on Dooyoo to be reviewed as I wanted to let you all know about this album. This is one album that I reckon most of you would not have even heard of. So let me fill you in on a few details regarding the artist and this album. **Uncle Sam** Sam Turner or Uncle Sam as he is otherwise known is an American R&B singer who was discovered by the legendary R&B vocal harmony group Boyz II Men in the late nineties and was signed to their own record label Stonecreek Records which was distributed by Columbia Records. I first heard of Uncle Sam when I heard the single "I Don't ever want to see you again" which features Boyz II Men on backing vocals. After hearing this I wanted to hear more and searched for an album which I found on and I ordered a copy. Here's my verdict. **His Voice** Whilst he is not that well known don't be fooled into thinking he does not have the voice as he sure does. His voice is a smooth and emotive R&B vocal which can give you the tender moments aswell as the more forceful moments. He's not up there vocally with Boyz II Men but he does have a damn good voice all the same. **The Album** 1.) Can you feel it This is not a cover of the Jackson Five track but a funky midtempo track which opens the album rather well. It's ...
