Samsung Galaxy S6 128GB 07/12/2015

On the edge of design? Not quite...

Samsung Galaxy S6 128GB Nope the above goes to the Galaxy S6 Edge. I have had one, I paid £800 for it and if design matters to you or you have millions of friends and love to show off then thats the one you should buy, just do it, this review raves about the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the edge is better, just over priced for what it is as Its no difference to the Samsung Galaxy S6 (the one I now have,) that other than the screen is curved offering no real benefits to the standard model, other than the edge screen lights up as as notifications come through.... Does that matter to me? No.... I use Facebook messenger and the only people that call me are my parents.... But should you buy the S6 in the first place????? What is this thing? Its a Samsung mobile phone. One that they needed to make FAST and rather well considering how Samsung's mobile phone sales (though high) are plummeting. This due to Chinese makers such as Xiaomi and Oppo are eating sales in China.... To you and I though, The Samsung Galaxy "S" range is arguably the flagship phone from Samsung, except for the Samsung Galaxy Note range or more recently the Edge plus series. Look and Feel: A flagship phone from Samsung has usually resulted in a phone covered in plastic with fake metal edges.... Since then however, Samsung have really upped there game in terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy S6 actually (in my mind) beating the iPhone for its look. This is a phone made form metal and glass and it really is rather a pretty thing to look at and ...

Cadbury Dairy Milk Puddles 24/05/2015

A puddle straight from Cadbury's backside...

Cadbury Dairy Milk Puddles I actually really like Cadbury Dairy milk and buy the Turkish version regularly. Today, after a frankly boring day at work I decided I needed some form of sugar rush and thus hoped over into Poundland (desperate chocolate times) in hope of finding the medium 120 gram bars of Cadbury Turkish delight... Sadly however it wasn't available (which is one of many reasons why I don't use Poundland often.) However I had heard about the new variety of Cadbury puddles... Which basically consist of chocolate with fillings inside and as every single supermarket seemed to push them in terms of adverts on the shop floor, I decided to buy one especially because I adore the Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Hazelnut praline chocolate bar making me assume that I would like this... Packaging: As I think anyone living in England would know, a Cadbury bar is wrapped in a purple like wrapper making it all very simple really. I didn't however appreciate the fact I was 30 gram short of the equivalent 120 gram Turkish delight bar. This however I could forgive this should the bar itself taste any good... Appearance: This being a reasonably new Cadbury product, I thought I would mention that the actual product shape in itself has changed... Even though it looks the same as other medium bars from Cadbury... The square chunks that I was used to has been changed to (Owl?) like eyes bombs over a smooth layer of chocolate, this clearly to make it lighter to save Cadbury's money and of course for the ...

Apple iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi 64 GB 27/12/2014

And you thought Air was good?

Apple iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi 64 GB I have gone back to Apple, just in case you didn't know. I also have a MacBook Air and indeed the iPhone 6 Plus... Why? A. I run my own business (which serves me rather well.) I also work for Argos as a Navigator and deal with customers constantly throughout the day. I therefore need all my gadgets to connect to each other, so I can text people on my MacBook or even my iPad if I want too... B. I admit I was FURIOUS about the incident with my MacBook Pro a few years ago... Fortunately, while on test, the iPhone 6 Plus actually failed after the review... BUT despite not having receipt, I took it to the Apple Store and it was replaced instantly... Good on Apple... As it is now? Are you a Fandroid, iSheep or a Windows boy? I'm not really sure actually. I think they all have there pro's and cons... The biggest problem with an Android tablet is the sloppiness of the the applications... Its fine on a phone, as the application was designed for a smaller screen, blow it up as you do on a screen on ones such as the Tab S from Samsung, the product looks a bit washed out and no one can deny Apple's core feature of just working.... Bring on the iPad Air 2! Its damn hard to get discounts on iPad's they are luxury products meaning, Apple control the prices heavily. I got mine from Argos, as soon as the thing launched on November of this year. Ordinarily I would have paid £479 for a 64GB model, but as I work for Argos I got myself a 10% discount... The box: It matters! My work ...

Diesel Only The Brave Shower Gel 25/11/2014

Braving the ladies?

Diesel Only The Brave Shower Gel My two favourite aftershaves are, without doubt, Paco Rabanne and Diesel Only the Brave, I really cannot decide which... I love both and I shall be reviewing both the 1 Million Body wash and aftershave shortly. This particular product in question is pretty hard to come by and is, more often than not a particular body wash that can now only be found in the Diesel Only The Brave gift set, though if you are lucky it can be found in a see through container, in the opposite to the opaque, small bottle that I have. Who are Diesel? Not the sort of thing you would fill your car up with, especially as the "real" Diesel is actually cheaper here... Diesel are a luxury Italian fashion brand (and I have to say I also adore the clothes they make,) who were established in 1978, with headquarters in Breganze, Italy. Whats the packaging like? I cannot comment on the Ciao image, but from the Gift set, the bottle does feel like a quality product. Drop it on the floor and you won't find it spilling all over the place, unlike an unfortunate event that I had with an Original Source bottle! Its not very big, at just 50ML making it fairly light. I do not like the fact that the bottle is indeed opaque, as its hard to establish when its ran out, also due to the fact that it is, as mentioned fairly light. I do like the blue on white packaging writing however, as it certainly looks smart and with big lettering, as its easy to tell that this is indeed a Diesel product! Application and the lather: ...

Lynx Dark Temptation 24/11/2014

The dark side of me!

Lynx Dark Temptation Whenever I go out I have to make sure that I am showered, well dressed and look and smell entirely respectable. I do however have to be careful when choosing deodorants and it can just be the "range" and not just the brand that upsets my skin... Dove is the traditional choice for me, as I love the clean comfort edition it smells great and lasts a long time and doesn't upset my skin. It is however VERY expensive and as the Dark temptation (chocolate) variety of Lynx also keeps my skin from swelling and going red, I do often pick this for a change as, it is one of few deodorants that doesn't upset my skin. Packaging and appearance: I really quite like the design of the Lynx bottle range. It looks smart and actually pretty expensive. Unlike the Dove clean comfort bottle that uses a plastic pop off lid, (which looks a little plain) you simply twist twist the revolving lid around to be able to press down and apply the deodorant, this works very well and is very convenient to use. Its also harder to break should you drop it as the nozzle is more protected in this way. Application: Naturally this product is for your body only, so it would be wise to keep it away from you eyes. I also wouldn't recommend using sprays for children as they will likely have skin that might be even more sensitive than mine. You should apply this deodorant in a well ventilated area and apply it at around 15 cm away from the body. Whats is like? I love the smell of this Lynx deodorant, its a sweet ...

Apple iPhone 6 Plus 16GB 22/11/2014

An Apple iSheep... That would be me!

Apple iPhone 6 Plus 16GB So I went out and got the iPhone 6 Plus... Why? Because I simply HAD to have one, now that I have also gone and purchased the iPad Air 2. Prior to the Nokia Lumia, still a great phone, particularly on a budget buy I used an iPhone 5S, which I really liked, but desired the big screen and here it is the 5.5" iPhone 6 Plus! What is it? Despite the original disregard from technology review company's to the original Samsung Galaxy Note, even Apple now acknowldge that Samsung should be commended for making this large iPhone happen, be it that Steve Jobs had said "No one is going to buy a big phone." Apple have therefore clearly changed there mind as even the iPhone 6 is a rather large phone at 4.7". The Plus being a huge 5.5" phone, therefore commending them in a VERY silent way! Picking assistance? There are two range topping iPhone at Apple now, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. You are therefore, perhaps thinking that you should pick whatever your "hand" feels like in terms of size, sadly this isn't entirely true, as the iPhone 6 Plus is indeed the more premium of the two in a few ways, which I shall now explain. -Bigger screen on the iPhone 6 Plus:Much bigger actually and this may be a good or a bad thing, it depends on you, for me, I prefer the the size of the 6 Plus, for one thing there is more to admire here and that makes it all the more beautiful. Regardless of your preference though, the iPhone 6 Plus has a much more enjoyable Safari Internet experience and of ...

HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j143na 30/10/2014

Envied by you?

HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j143na I like to keep up with the times when it comes to technology and it became apparent that after a years heavy service my Medion had begun to pack up slightly. So I got it refurbished (for absolutely nothing) and sold it for a respectable £300 to put towards a shiny new late 2014 computer model and here it is... Back to HP! What I needed? I wanted something that was the bees knees. It had to be top end EVERYTHING. The latest processor, lots of RAM and a huge hard drive to keep me going for another year. A long warranty was also essential as I certainly make use of my laptops processor... Pushing it quite a long way! It was also essential that it wasn't too heavy, as I would rather had got a desktop and a Chromebook if this was the case, lastly it must be able to handle games (if I ever get the time!) My two choices? For me it came down to a MacBook Pro with a Retina display or the HP Envy that I have hear. The MacBook, as nice as they are was dismissed due to past experiences, as much as I wanted one! Who are HP? HP or Hewlett Packard are an American company there headquarters in California, builders of computers and other electrical equipment, such as printers. The "Envy" range of computers being the most luxurious line of there computers. This laptop is therefore one of the most expensive they do, at £900, with one of the best processors you can get in a laptop. Specs: Its a top of the line laptop with the latest I7 by Intel processor (Haswell) running at 2.4 GH/z a ...

Birds Angel Delight Banana 21/10/2014

A childhood memory- but not a positive one.

Birds Angel Delight Banana I (like many other Ciao users on here,) used to have Angel delight as a dessert (or a bribe if my dad needed something.) Not sure why, but I had thought that "Angel Delight" had disappeared of the shelves, perhaps because of Jamie Oliver, the "food dictator" of the schools (apparently.) Anyhow, when seeing a packet for £0.50 in Sainsbury's one evening, I thought to myself "why not" and put a pack in my trolley for old times sake! Packaging: Its hardly special and I would actually say it looks quite unappealing, as if its laden with chemicals and a thousand and one artificial flavourings.... Anyhow, packaging is not everything and as it is fairly cheap, I will let it off this time, also due to the fact its easy to open. Smell: NESQUICK Banana Milkshake powder... This reaction was instant... This to be honest isn't really a good thing. I always revolted when I saw what this powder did to milk, ridding the white clarity and purity of milk to a nasty yellow... Its not horrible but it does remind me of foam banana's and therefore something that's packed with sugar, so I couldn't say that I liked it very much! Making it: Its a simple process! I would recommend using an electric whisk of some description as whipping it by hand takes quite a long time, perhaps up to 8-10 minutes. Anyhow you simply measure 300 ml of milk into a bowl, add this mix and then whisk until it goes light and fluffy. You are supposed to leave it for around 5 minutes to allow it to set and for this you ...

Nokia Lumia 930 14/10/2014

"NOKing" about with a Nokia!

Nokia Lumia 930 I love Nokia in an odd sort of way. They were not previously in the same league as Samsung Galaxy Notes and iPhones, but in an odd sort of way, I have always wanted one, that is whenever a new flagship came out... That would be the one I have now, the latest flagship from Nokia is one of them a follow on from the Nokia Lumia 925, that I sadly never got to review... But no matter, here is a new Nokia Lumia 930 to feast your eyes on! What is it and what does it rival? Nokia have seriously upped there game with the Lumia line. (This means "snow" in Finnish for those that want to know.) This is Nokia's most expensive model rivalling that of the Samsung Galaxy S5, iPhone 6 and the hTc One M8 for example. How much will Nokia relieve me of for owning one? A lot, but not as much as Apple would charge you. Nokia are aware they need to continue to shout about there phones and undercut rivals, so you will pay around £450 SIM free (which is a lot less than what Apple would charge you for there flagship phone by around £100) What color can you have it in? Many colors, Black, green and orange- but it looks fabulous in all three! My one coming in green, which to my mind looks great and it certainly draws positive attention in the streets and amongst friends! Build Quality: Its second to none! The 167 gram body feels excellent in the hand and this phone certainly feels like it could take a few knocks and bumps... I just wish Nokia would make there flagship phone resistant to water. ...

Motorola Moto E 09/10/2014

Motorola E... The definition of value!

Motorola Moto E So we now know what the Apple iPhone 6 looks like, as we do with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4... Utter joy. This for me means no end of people coming up to me bashing the iPhone 6 or the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 for no good reason. Truth be told they are both very good phones (from what I have seen and I intend to lay my hands on both in the near future.) For now, I turn my attention to another sector in the Smartphone world, Why? Simply because my Samsung Galaxy Young decided to die and Tesco, offered me an exchange and a slight upgrade. I jumped at the chance to get the Motorola E and it phones like these that makes me wonder why I myself am prepared to pay £600 plus for a phone when this one makes perfect sense and a near perfect phone... How much will I have to fork out for this phone? You could buy 6 of these phones, SIM free, with some change left against a phone such as the Galaxy Note 4 or the iPhone 6 Plus. That is, on paper very good value... You could even get this on contact for less than £10.00 per month with a reasonable amount of data and minutes. What color can I have it in? Black or white- easy. I would say the white colored one makes the phone look fairly old fashioned actually. This is because it makes the thick screen bezels more apparent. It does however look pretty expensive in black and people have asked me if this is the new "flagship" that I am now testing, which is interesting given how little this device actually cost at just £100 SIM free, meaning ...

Apple Store iPhone 5s Case 19/08/2014

Leicester Apple Store is on the case!

Apple Store iPhone 5s Case I really like the iPhone 5S. Which I have been using recently to review, its simple to use and fast, if a little small... Its also a very expensive phone at £709 and I wanted to keep it in tip top condition for when I came to sell it and so I purchased this Apple case at £35 from the Apple store. Colour options? The colour options for Apple cases are pretty extensive. However one should exercise some caution, these are made from genuine leather and this means the lighter colours pick up dirt very easily and can look quite scruffy after time. There where 6 colours to choose from and they all look lovely, brown, black, beige, yellow, blue and red. Again I would steer clear from all but the black and brown cases, due to colour staining. Attaching the case: This case is pretty rigid and this means that it fits the iPhone rather tightly, but this for me is a good thing as the iPhone's delicate proportions feel protected. Another nice thing about this case is the fact that the micro fibre innards will result in no scratches when pushing the iPhone into place. Look and Feel: I simply LOVE this case for the iPhone 5S, it feels very premium and its obvious it cost quite a bit of money. Its also very thin and this means that it feels that its actually just part of the iPhone in its own regard. I personally, cannot tell any weight difference between having it on or off too which is good. Will it protect my iPhone 5S? Yes it will. I have dropped my iPhone from quite a ...

Apple iPhone 5S 64GB 13/08/2014

Bad fruit or good fruit?

Apple iPhone 5S 64GB An odd review this. I don't particularly like Apple as such, but I have always wanted to try an Apple iPhone. I can hardly claim that Android mobile pones are the best, without testing Apple's offering. To be honest you SHOULDN'T buy the iPhone 5S.... But not because its a bad phone... I mean its better than the Galaxy S5 in my opinion.... How much will I have to fork out for this phone? SIM Free from Apple you will pay a very hefty £709 for a phone which is very expensive for a phone that is now getting on for a year old! On contract you can pay around £45- onwards for a decent amount of data and unlimited texts. This isn't the cheapest way to an iPhone however as Apple also offer a 16 GB model for £549 and a 32 GB model for £629, which is still very expensive! What colour can you have it in? Lots of colours! In Space Grey, Silver and my favourite colour Gold. No mater of the colour you choose it will look beautiful! Look and Feel: I LOVE the look of the iPhone 5S. Granted it looks almost the same as the iPhone 5, albeit the deeper integration of the home button to host the finger print scanner. The chamfered edges take away the sharpness of the body to and give a different tone of "Space Grey" silver. I also love the aluminium and glass rear of the iPhone too, its certainly feels as well made as the Sony Xperia Z2, but this, (as it did with the Sony,) comes at a slight cost (the battery cannot be replaced.) Overall though the iPhone gets top marks, even my Android ...

Sainsburys Basics 10 Frozen Fish Fingers 16/07/2014

Nothing too basic!

Sainsburys Basics 10 Frozen Fish Fingers As some of you might already know, I am on a penny pinching challenge as I spend far too much in the supermarket! I have already established that I enjoyed Sainsbury's basics Pizza the other night and after travelling over 300 miles today, I really couldn't be bothered in making something fresh... SO I dug these out of the freezer and shoved some in the oven. Why? They looked OK on the packet AND I was very impressed to see that Sainsbury's had "responsibly sourced" the Pollock fillet (not mince) in this product. I therefore had to try it! Packaging: The packaging of this product is actually good. For one thing it can be fully recycled. Its also honest, it tells you that the fish used is not cod (and this may well be a good thing anyway, seeing how over fished it is.) It also clearly shows you the nutritional information of the product meaning that its pretty transparent in terms of ingredients too. I was therefore very impressed for a "cheap" product. Smell: Uncooked its impossible to smell them, much like the Sainsbury's pizza from the basics range, in my last review. This however may well be a good thing, as this meant that they weren't horrible and despite the smaller size, they looked like my usual essential Waitrose Fish Fingers, though the breadcrumb did look a bit more artificial. Cooking them: One has to be very careful with these Fish Fingers, in terms of cooking them. This is because they are quite small. This means they cook very quickly. I actually found ...

Sainsbury's Basics Cheese & Tomato Pizza 10/07/2014

Back to basics?

Sainsbury's Basics Cheese & Tomato Pizza I don't particularly like cheap economy food and don't tend to buy it. I don't have too... So I don't... However after finding out I had spent £70 on food in one week for me alone, a friend of mine decided to set me a challenge... I was allowed £30 since Saturday and it has been going well for me... On one night I decided to try the Sainsbury's Basics Tomato Pizza... Why? It looked quite nice on the packet and it was cheap! Packaging: Its not exactly fancy and doesn't of course claim that the cheese has been matured for 9+ months in Italy, or that the tomatoes are hand picked and sun ripened in Spain. What it is then is "basic" which is what it promises. This isn't a bad thing by any means. For one thing, the vast majority of the packet is actually recyclable which is nice. The inside "film" is not however, but then this is on pretty much all the expensive pizza's too, so I can't really criticize. Smell: Be it that this pizza was indeed, frozen and packaged in film, I couldn't really smell it until it was cooked. I did however notice a very pleasing smell of basil upon opening it from frozen. Other than this I really couldn't say much for it! It certainly wasn't horrible! Cooking it: This was perfectly simple. (NOT necessarily guidelines on the packet!) I preheated the oven to 180 Celsius and cooked it for approximately 15 minutes. Of course, before doing this, I removed ALL the packaging! Taste (and cooked smell:) I was VERY impressed with this pizza when it came to ...

LG G3 D855 06/07/2014

Innovation... FINALLY!

LG G3 D855 LG have come quite a long way over the last couple of years. They first got my attention when they launched, the frankly excellent LG G2... After getting rid of the Sony Xperia Z2, a truly excellent, balanced Smartphone, I decided (after watching the launch event to go back to LG for a test... Cut to the chase... Why the LG? I remember when the 4K TV's came out... (Meaning they definition surpassed Full HD, 4 TIMES over!) The TV picture quality was almost hypnotic, outstanding in everyway... I then saw the 4 figure sum too own one, said "forget it" and got on with my life... A few years later: LG can't half make a TV display and now we have our very first 2K mobile phone (this being 4X the resolution of HD.) I therefore wanted to see what it was like... How much will I give to LG to have the honour of owning this phone? A fair amount of money... HOWEVER because its an LG you will pay around £90 less than what you would give to Samsung- at around £480. OR around £35 on contract for a reasonable amount of data and texts. (unlimited.) So already in this area- LG is £100 up on the Sony and Samsung... But is it the better phone of the three? What colour can I have it in? Take your pick! Titanium grey and black, gold or white... I have mine in titanium grey- which is a good thing as I feel it looks classy. Look and Feel: The Sony Xperia Z2 is certainly the better phone to hold over the LG, I would also declare it prettier than the LG. To be honest though, the LG is still ...
