Blue Bay Platinum Hotel, Marmaris 12/07/2012

One of the nicest hotels in the whole of Marmaris!

Blue Bay Platinum Hotel, Marmaris Marmaris is now one of the most popular tourist places in Turkey to go on holiday - due to its never failing gorgeous weather and many attractions and things to do - as well as the cheap cost! ********** My first visit to Marmaris was in June 2006 - a total of 4 of us went and we opted for an apartment, which was a part of the hotel. The apartment consisted of 2 decent sized bedrooms and lots of storage, a kitchen and living area, a bathroom and a large balcony which overlooked the pool and entertainment area. This first holiday we were down as self catering so didn't actually get to try any of the hotel food on this occasion but we got full use of the hotel facilities. There was also a small internet cafe at the front of the hotel where you could check emails/facebook ect. We were recommended Marmaris by the sister of a person in the group who had been the previous year and loved it. We couldn't argue with the cost when enquiring compared to other holidays - less than £350 each for a fortnight! Being quite honest this first time we went we didnt really spend a lot of time at the hotel - was just really a place to shower and sleep so can't comment on the entertainment aspect either apart from unfortunatly our apartment overlooked the entertainment area and there was normally a noisy annoying DJ shouting down a microphone until a really awful hour. However there was always plenty of kids running round and games being played so it was a child friendly place. There is ...

Schwarzkopf Supersoft Kids Conditioner - Strawberry & Milk 11/07/2012

strawberry fields...

Schwarzkopf Supersoft Kids Conditioner - Strawberry & Milk I love a good bargain and always on the look for new products for me and my daughter to try out. This Schwarzkopf spray is one of my best recent buys. I was on the look out for a detangling spray for my daughter as her hair tends to become tangled after swimming and having it washed. I was attracted to this product as the brand name is very reputable and my daughter loves strawberry scents. Also the price wasn't too bad at 89p from Home Bargains! ********** About the bottle The bottle is red in colour and almost oval shaped - the total contents of the product are 150ml to give you an idea on the size. There is a spray nozzle on the top of the bottle to dispense the product and there is a clear cap lid to place over the top when not in use. The spray nozzle is blue in colour. The clear top is securely attached to the nozzle at purchase that you need to rip off - which is great as you know it hasnt been tampered with. ********** The packaging The front of the bottle is decorated with an image of 2 smurfs playing in bubbles - and goes on to tell you this is a detangling spray for easy combing. It then gives you the scent type which is strawberry and milk. The back label then goes on to tell you that it has an anti tears effect - which is a must when you are using this on children - that it soothes out tangles - and has an intensive care vitamin complex - which is great for caring for their hair. The packaging also advsies there is a total shelf life of up to 12 ...

Nivea Visage 2 in 1 Cleanser & Toner 11/07/2012

Like water...

Nivea Visage 2 in 1 Cleanser & Toner I'm not very loyal to a particular brand or product when it comes to skin care - I tend to look for things which are on offer in the supermarket... About 3 months ago I was looking at the H&B section in Tesco and came across this 2 in 1 cleanser and toner from Nivea on the reduced shelf - for around £1 for a 200ml. For what a great brand Nivea are I thought I would try this as I still haven't found cleanser or toner products I am happy with and getting both in the one bottle for such a cheap price I wasn't breaking the bank trying. ********** Packaging The 2 in 1 is packaged in an almost oval light blue coloured bottle with a frosted white colour secure flip lid. The packaging is well suited as I will state later in this review the actual liquid is like water... The lid to me is quite hard to open which can be good if there is young children running around - you can pop the lid open by using pressure with your thumb upwards. You get the liquid out the bottle by squeezing the bottle which is a thin plastic - there is no pump involved like some other packaging. As mentioned above the total product comes to 200ml. ********** About the product The liquid itself smells like a general skin care cleansing product and is white in colour. Unfortuntatly for me, the liquid was a bit too watery for me and doesn't "soap up" very well. It feels almost like rubbing water into your face. Application is advsied on the bottle to apply and remove using cotton wool before using ...

Collection 2000 Fast Stroke Eyeliner 11/07/2012

Too loyal - my favourite eyeliner!

Collection 2000 Fast Stroke Eyeliner For around five years I have used the Collection 2000 fast stroke eyeliner in black religiously with trying one other brand just recently - and after the dissapointment I had with the other brand - which I will shortly be reviewing also - I will never change eyeliner again. I was first attracted to this 5 years ago as in my younger teenage years I used to use a lot of silver and gold liquid eye liners as that was the fashion back then... but I always found them very difficult to apply and usually ended up with my friends having to put it on for me! With the Collection 2000 eyeliner it stands out to the rest because you can tell by looking at it that it will be very easy to apply with the skinny handle - no other brands is as thin. ********** Design The bottle itself is quite small - roughly 1cm in width and and standing around 2cm tall - the rest is made up of the handle. The whole bottle is black other than white font which tells you the brand name, product name and ingredients on the back. In the five years I have been using this the design has not changed once. Why should it? Why fix something when its not broken?! It looks great and its compact. ********** Ease of use When you twist the handle off you find quite a small brush which is great for applying the liquid - always give a good shake before use so you get enough liquid coming out of the bottle. You will also hear a clunking noise inside the bottle which is a little ball you get in the bottle of many ...

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation 20/06/2012

This did not wake me up!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation For a number of years I have used Max Factor Lasting Performace in 102 Pastelle - and have been fairly happy with that particular brand compared to other foundations which didnt give enough coverage / wrong shades and more expensive. However last month, not feeling completely loyal to the brand and wanting to try something new I saw this in my local Superdrug - and the product looked great on the advert with Kate Moss, so I decided to give it a go! ********** The shade I have chosen for myself was 200 Soft Beige - which is slightly darker than the shade I normally go for - but as I have been using tanning moisturiser a bit more than usual recently this really was the shade I should of been going for rather than a lighter foundation. I have just finished this foundation this week after using it once daily for a month constantly. ********** About the packaging The main body of the bottle is transparent which is great for seeing how much foundation is left and the protective lid is orange. The bottle itself is unusually made out of glass which is a bit alien to me as I am used to plastic that I can squeeze the foundation out of. This bottle has a pump system where you press down on the pump and it dispenses on to your finger. At the time I thought the design was great as it was so different to Max Factors packaging. However as the month went on and the foundation started running low it got harder for the pump to squeeze out the foundation and in the end you resort to ...

bareMinerals Face Fashion: Classic Glam Collection 20/06/2012

Bare-able!

bareMinerals Face Fashion: Classic Glam Collection I have been introduced to the Bare Mineral range by my mum around 2 years ago and she is a huge fan of the foundations and powders because of their sutle look. Being honest from my teenage years I have been a big fan of using heavier foundations and powders due to my skin type - which can be blotchy and sometimes spotty and I always needed something more to cover it up. Gradually though after been given a few Bare Mineral starter sets by my mum for birthdays and christmas's I am starting to see why she likes the brand so much because it always gives great coverage and none of them dreaded foundation lines that we all experiance with the heavier stuff! The Bare Minerals Classic Glam set was given to me as a stocking filling in December 2011 and I only used it for the first time around 3 months ago. I like to be careful with my Bare Mineral make up due to the cost at having to replace so I only really use this for special occassions like nights out rather than a daily choice. The box I must add is very appealing - the packaging is made out of a very hard cardboard and can be opened at the side which opens and closes with a magnetic clasp. The main colour of the packaging is pink and comes with lighter pink patterns throughout. As you would expect due to the price you would pay with the product the box is very well made and not flimsy in the slightest. The front image gives a picture of a female wearing the range with sutle darkened eyes and red gloss. The best way I can ...

Tesco Childrens Bug Plasters 20/06/2012

For when your little butterflies hurt themselves...

Tesco Childrens Bug Plasters As a parent I am always on the look out for cheap, fun plasters which make a change to the nasty boring brown ones us adults are left with! Being 6 years old my daughter is forever falling over and cutting herself... due to climbing trees, riding her bike... and just general kiddy clumsiness! A few months ago I spotted these bug plasters for my little girl - although there is some monkey patterned ones as well which she preferes. She says these bug plasters are a bit girly for her - she is an absolute tomboy! ********** About the packaging The plasters come packed in a cardboard box which is quite small and light inside - so great for storing away in a first aid box... To open the box there is a small tab at the top that you simply rip away which allows access into the box. Across the front of the label in the top left corner you have the recognisable TESCO logo in a light green coloured font - the remaining text on the front of the box is also green and some white too. The background colours are white, pink and purple. There is image on the front of the box is a blown up picture of one of these plasters with a pink and purple bug in the middle The front label claims the plasters to be: * Water resistant * Breathable * Low allergy It also advises that the box contains 30 assorted plasters and also translates the information into four other languages which are: * Czech * Polish * Slovak * Dutch The exact sizes of the plasters are as follows: * 10 ...

Smileguard Hello Kitty Mouthwash Bubblegum Flavour 20/06/2012

Is there an adult version?!

Smileguard Hello Kitty Mouthwash Bubblegum Flavour Me and my daughter are absolutly obsessed with anything pink and girly - its just as well there is just me and her in our house as both our bedrooms, her playroom and bathroom are pink themed, it would drive a boy absolutely domented living in our house! One of our big obsessions is Hello Kitty - you can see I am a fan by my profile picture! Even my work computer background is decorated with Hello Kitty on the desktop! My daughter is always getting Hello Kitty things like a Hello Kitty cover for her iPod Touch, cuddly toys, make up sets ect... We are always on the hunt for Hello Kitty products... and being a single parent the price always has to be reasonable to me! One day whilst shopping in our local Home Bargains - a bargain chain shop - we came across a Hello Kitty Mouthwash in bubblegum flavour - after being met with "Mum! Please can I have it!?" I caved in - couldn't argue at the price as it was very cheap! ********** About the makers SmileGuard / DrFresh is a mouthcare company specialising in toothbrushs, toothpaste and fun mouthwash's for kids. The front label of the Hello Kitty mouthwash also declares the product was made in USA. The back label states you can find more information at www.drfresh.com - although this is incorrect and they should really update this. When I attempted to access the website was blocked - but I did find www.drfreshdental.com. The correct website states the companys headquarters are based in California and distribute to 35 ...

Samsung ME89F-1S 20/06/2012

makes our food PERFECTO

Samsung ME89F-1S In my mini mountain of Christmas presents 6 months ago, opening my "presents" which were actually appliances that I desperately needed for my new house (after a relationship breakdown) - and I happened to come across this Microwave at the bottom of the pile. Excellent... As who knows how long I would go for without a microwave... OK, maybe I sound too fussy as we can all live without a microwave but you know how it is - quick and easy compared to a stove / oven. This was kindly given to me by my parents - and they had used clubcard points at Tesco to buy many of the appliances direct from the Tesco website. Wasn't sure what to expect from this as haven't had a lot of experiance with Samsung products other than an old mobile phone years ago. In this review I will give you more info on what I use it for, reliability, features and best prices at the time of writing. ********** About the microwave The first thing I will mention about the microwave is that you get a free steam bowl - to steam your vegetables with - The bowl is well made and not flimsy in the slightest as you would expect. I have tested this bowl with my frozen vegetables - it takes barely anytime to cook and they come out tasting delicious! Top points to Sumsung for throwing in this great freebie! The microwave is not one of them fancy grilling ones - just a standard solo heat source. Doesn't bother me personally as I would use my oven for my oven and my microwave for my microwave! The microwave ...

Eylure Naturalites False Lashes 18/06/2012

Fluttering my eyelashes to get what I want!

Eylure Naturalites False Lashes I don't have the biggest eyelashes in the world because of the years of abuse they have endured due to wearing mascara and then having to remove... Naturally as a child I have big eyelashes which my daughter has inherited off me (which I am very jealous about!). Strangely I didnt start using glue on eyelashes until around 2-3 years ago - my first experiance my beautician put on some single lash extensions for me and I couldn't believe the difference it made! Sadly the next time when I attempted to glue on the single lashes myself I failed badly. I was told by friends the strips were much easier to apply so when I came across these Eylure Naturalites I decided to have a go with these. I tend to purchase a set on average once every 1-2 months and only tend to wear them if its a special occasion... I don't use them daily. The style I go for in this range is the Super Full ones but there is a variety depending on how you want your lashes to look. ********** The packaging The packaging these days look different to the above photo - the box the eyelashes come in is a normal cardboard material. The front label is taller than the back due to the hanging strip. The front also shows a transparant section which you can see the eyelashes through. To get the eyelashes out you need to open one of the sides and slide the contents out. The lashes sit on a plastic section inside the box. ********** Contents Inside the box you get your set of eyelashes which clearly state which ...

Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara 17/06/2012

Where are these extra lash's you promised me?!

Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara They say you should replace your mascara roughly every 3 months for hygiene purposes and around 4 weeks ago this was the case with myself where I had a big old make up clear out and needed some new mascara before I went out later that night. Unfortunatly I ended up being in work later than I had planned and when I finally got out all the normal shops where I would normally purchase make up were closed - with the likes of Superdrug & Boots. Just round the corner from my work is a Tesco with a decent size make up counter - even though not as much choice as normal I thought I would have a look as I was desperate! This was the first mascara that I saw - and the cheapest on the Tesco Display - so I decided to go for this one... Generally I love Rimmel make up - I always buy my foundation, powder, eyeliners and bronzers from this brand - although the mascara has not really impressed me. I do remember buying the Extra Super Lash mascara as a teenager when the packaging looked the same as in the above picture. It definetley did not give me extra super lash's. However I noticed the packaging had been revamped - it is still a black mascara tube but has a white and black long pattern of the union jack through the middle with the pink/red Rimmel crown above. I thought if they had revamped maybe the mascara had improved? ********** About the labelling The new packaging tells you it is a "Lash Building Mascara" and gives the colour selection as 101 - which is black. The ...

Yankee Candle Pink Lady Slipper Tart 17/06/2012

If the slipper fits

Yankee Candle Pink Lady Slipper Tart I had recently picked up a Yankee tart in my local Clintons called Pink Lady Slipper at just 80p - reduced from the regular price of £1.20. I didn't give the actual tart much of a look as I was more interested in testing out new tarts at low prices. Now that I have had the tart sitting in a little box for a few weeks and I have had a good look at it its probably not something I would go for due to how floral it is. ********** The packaging The tarts are wrapped in transparant plastic which can easily be opened using your finger nails or snipping with a pair of scissors. ********** About the tart The tart colour is light pink to be in keeping with the flower type. It is made from wax and is round with ridged edges like all the tarts in the Yankee range. The Yankee Candle Co logo is also stamped into the tart. ********** The labels The front label states the tart is from the Yankee Candle range, in the background you have the image of a pink Lady Slipper flower. It then advises you that the tart is made from pure natural plant extracts. The back label then gives you your usual warning symbols for what not to do with this product ie . keep out of reach of children ect. The label also confirms the tart weight is 22g and total burning time is 8 hours. ********** How to use You literally pop the tart on the top of your burner, light your candle and put underneith and it starts to melt within 5 minutes and you get the first wafts of scent from the tart. ...

Whitehaven (England) 17/06/2012

My hometown

Whitehaven (England) Whitehaven is the town I was born and raised in and live many other places in the UK it has its up and downs. Whitehaven is situated in North West England on the coast around an hour from the beautiful Lake District - with the likes of Keswick & Windermere which are big tourist spots even though it rains a lot here! Whitehaven was known more for its harbour a few years ago as at one point a couple hundred years it was one of the biggest harbours in the UK and many goods used to pass here including rum. In the past 10 years the harbour has been regenerated and has a few highlights which tourists love. Attractions include the "Crows Nest" - which is a large circular flatform along the harbour and the "Beacon" centre - which is a museum which tells about the history of Whitehaven in general, it also has an area where you can make your own weather forecasts and also has smaller historic displays - recently there was a BBC Walking With Dinosaurs display which was great for the kids! Another great reason to live in Whitehaven is the Marratime Festival which takes place every year - where live famous bands play concerts on the harbour, famous chefs come to do demonstrations and the Red Arrows do plane shows. Katherine Jenkins - the Welsh opera singer is a regular who comes here and NDubz have been here too. It is an amazing weekend when the festival is on. Whitehaven in general has a lot of history other than boats and the harbour. At one point hundreds of years ago it was a ...

Frustration 17/06/2012

One you can play again and again...

Frustration Many board games in my opinion where there is dice, come down to luck and a tiny bit of strategy to decide who wins. Frustration is a good example of winning by this way. Me and my brother had an older version of this years ago when we were kids... and more recently in the last year my daughter had asked me for this when she played it once at school. To be fair it hasn't changed much to when I was a kid, a few small changes such as different more modern box, the older Frustration you also click the bubble in the middle to make the dice "move/roll" whereas on the new one each player has a flicker as you can see in the picture which you need to flick to get the bubble in the middle to use the dice. You get a couple of bits inside the box which are needed to operate the game. You get the main game board with bubble in the centre, four different coloured flickers - one for each player and an instruction booklet to explain game play and rules. The aim of the game is simple and a young child can grasp this after a couple of game plays - my daughter has been playing since the age of four and is now a mini expert at the age of six. Each player starts off with 4 little counters in their own colour to match their flicker. Each player must get each of their counters around the board once and up their "home line" under the dice bubble - which is the safe area. To get each counter on the board the player has to roll a 6 - and you can be sent right back to the beginning if another ...

Yankee Candle Sun and Sand Wax Tart 17/06/2012

first impression - smells like a posh old womans perfume - horrid

Yankee Candle Sun and Sand Wax Tart The Sun & Sand Yankee Tart was the fourth for me to try out in the burner I bought myself a couple of weeks ago... I recieved it in a pack from Amazon and didn't get a choice in which scents I wanted which to me is ok, as I am beginning to find I am liking the scents I wouldn't otherwise normally pick. Looking at this first glance it looks nice - image shows a beach and you get the impression it will be nice like a holiday! Doesn't quite live up to first impressions as I will explain further in this review... ********** The packaging The tarts are wrapped in transparant plastic which can easily be opened using your finger nails or snipping with a pair of scissors. ********** About the tart The tart is beige in colour - to be in keeping with the scent theme? It is made from wax and is round with ridged edges like all the tarts in the Yankee range. The Yankee Candle Co logo is also stamped into the tart. ********** The labels The front label states the tart is from the Yankee Candle range, in the background it then has the image of a nice looking beach, the sea and a hammock. It then advises you that the tart is made from pure natural plant extracts. The back label then gives you your usual warning symbols for what not to do with this product ie . keep out of reach of children ect. The label also confirms the tart weight is 22g and total burning time is 8 hours. ********** How to use You literally pop the tart on the top of your burner, light your ...
