QuidCo.Com 25/05/2016

Getting paid to shop, kind of!

QuidCo.Com I have been a member of Quidco for a few years now and have earned £400+ through them. When I first joined, it was completely free to use. It still is free to use but they now have 'basic' and 'premium' account options. Basic accounts are entirely free to use but if you want to be premium member, you do get charged a yearly £5 'retention fee' (which automatically gets deducted from your earnings). You can opt in and out of basic and premium memberships. I currently have a premium membership, I don't really know why, I think all accounts just automatically got upgraded when the website changed and I just haven't bothered to change it back! The perks of being a premium member is that you "allegedly" get paid faster and get better customer service options (live chat, etc)... The whole point of Quidco is to get paid cashback for making purchases. There are a large variety of retailers involved and nowadays I instinctively head straight to the Quidco website before making any online purchases. Here's a list of my transactions to give an idea of what kind of retailers are included: Asos, Debenhams, Urban Outfitters, Office (shoes), Forever 21, H Samuel, Papa Johns, Wallpaper Direct, Schuh, Vans, Tesco Direct, WHSmith, Footasylum, Domino's, George, O2 Mobiles, Nike Store, Surfdome, Topshop, feelunique.com, Disney Store, Marks & Spencer, Legoland, The Entertainer, Dr Martens, Walt Disney World, Laura Ashley, House of Fraser, Laterooms.com, Miss Selfridge, Sports Direct, Tenpin, ...

Disney The Little Mermaid Mini Animator Doll Playset 15/05/2016

The REALLY Little Mermaid!

Disney The Little Mermaid Mini Animator Doll Playset Myself and my daughter are big Disney fans, and especially of The Little Mermaid. My daughter also loves small toys, such as little dolls and figures. So I instinctively knew The Little Mermaid Mini Animator Doll Playset would get a lot of use. There are a number of different Mini Animator Doll Playsets including Elsa (Frozen), Anna (Frozen), Cinderella, Snow White, Tinkerbell and Sleeping Beauty. It would have been a hard choice to pick one but my daughter had already told me she wanted The Little Mermaid playset. The Animator playsets are based on the Disney Store Animator Dolls which are basically large dolls of a number of Disney characters (mostly princesses) as young children. The mini dolls are extremely similar but obviously a lot smaller. There are a lot of Disney doll merchandise in shops at the moment but nothing like this playset, except at The Disney Store. The playset consists of an Ariel doll, Sebastian the crab, Flounder the fish, a blue mini hairbrush, a pink glittery starfish and a fancy looking seahorse. It all comes inside a plastic carry case. The playset costs £15.95 which I don't think is too expensive (especially since you get quite a few pieces and a carry case included), but it may seem expensive to some... The Ariel doll is about 4 inches tall and looks very sweet. She looks just like Ariel would do as a child and wears her recognisable assemble (green tail and purple tube top), along with a full head of beautiful red hair. Her tail can be removed ...

Disney Anna Mini Animator Doll Playset 06/08/2015

A fantasticly Frozen playset!

Disney Anna Mini Animator Doll Playset There are just some things in The Disney Store that are impossible not to purchase! Like most young girls, my daughter is a fan of the Disney movie Frozen. She also loves small toys, such as little dolls and figures. So when I saw the Anna Mini Animator Doll Playset shortly before her birthday, I knew she'd just love it. There are a number of different Mini Animator Doll Playsets including The Little Mermaid, Elsa (Frozen), Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. It was a hard choice to make as they're all so lovely, but I decided on the Anna Playset as the accessories were just so cute and I know my daughter really likes Anna. The playsets are based on the Disney Store Animator Dolls which are basically large dolls of a number of Disney characters (mostly princesses) as young children. The mini dolls are extremely similar but obviously a lot smaller. There is a lot of Frozen merchandise in shops at the moment but nothing like this playset, except at The Disney Store. The playset consists of an Anna doll, two trolls, a pink mini brush, Sven the Reindeer, a sleigh, some carrots and Anna's small doll. It all comes inside a plastic carry case. The playset costs £15.95 which I don't think is too expensive (especially since you get quite a few pieces and a carry case included), but it may seem expensive to some... The Anna doll is about 4 inches tall and looks very sweet. She looks just like Anna does as a child and wears her recognisable clothes (green pinafore dress ...

Disney Gus Mini Bean Bag 31/07/2015

Aint nothing much cuter than a chubby mouse!

Disney Gus Mini Bean Bag My daughter is a big fan of Gus from Cinderella. She likes the film but LOVES Gus! Cinderella has a number of mice friends in the film but Gus is probably the cutest and is definitely my daughters favourite... Whilst browsing The Disney Store a couple of months ago we came across a little Gus toy that we just had to pick up! It's a 'Disney Store Exclusive' which means you can only buy it from The Disney Store, although it doesn't have a badge or patch sewn on it like the bigger toys do (just a regular white Disney tag). Gus looks very cute and is totally recognisable. Cinderella/Gus fans are sure to love him, my daughter sure does! He is a light brown colour, with tufts of orange hair on top of his head, along with a green hat. He also wears a teeny tiny yellow t-shirt which purposely is too small for him and has little brown pointy shoes on. He has big ears, a long tail, chubby belly, a lovely big nose and his little half-open mouth is just adorable! I would say he's small to medium sized (about right for the price). He measures approximately 10 inches tall and 5 inches wide, so the perfect size for taking out and about and a good size for keeping in buggies and car seats, plus it doesn't take up much room in bags etc. My daughter often takes hers to bed and he takes up no room at all. He's also very lightweight and is effortless for little ones to carry about. Gus is super soft on the outside and very squishy inside - perfect for cuddling up to! He's chubby and has an ...

Disney Frozen Anna Coronation Dress 23/06/2015

A princess perfect Disney dress

Disney Frozen Anna Coronation Dress Like most young girls my daughter is a big fan of the Disney film Frozen, however unlike most girls her favourite sister is Anna, not Elsa! There are a lot of Anna dresses in the shops but not so many Anna Coronation dresses (which is the green dress that she wears at Elsa's coronation). I like both dresses, although I must say that the coronation dress does look slightly more fancy and royal! My daughter spotted the dress shortly before Christmas last year and was very pleased to receive it as a present on Christmas day. We decided that the dress should come from The Disney Store as they tend to look nicer and are generally better quality than most costume dresses that can be bought elsewhere... Price & Availability The Anna Coronation Dress costs a staggering £40 (there is also a 'deluxe' version for £60 but I think the normal version actually looks better). There's no doubt about it, it's overpriced. However it is very lovely too! Extras (or not!) Rather disappointingly the dress doesn't come with any extras, so matching shoes/bag/jewellery/hair accessories will come at an extra cost. The Disney Store have lots of matching bits and pieces. My daughter also has some Anna boots (although they do sell Anna shoes too) that she likes to wear with her dress. Sizing Sizes start at 3-4 years and go all the way up to 11-12 years. The sizing may be a problem for some as they skip some sizes - for example they do size 3-4 years and 5-6 years, but no in between (4-5 years). We ...

Disney Frozen Fever Olaf and Mini Snowmen 29/04/2015

Adoraballs!

Disney Frozen Fever Olaf and Mini Snowmen Like most young girls my daughter is currently mad on the 2013 movie Frozen. Disney also recently released a short 'movie' called Frozen Fever that was screened in cinemas at the beginning of the new Cinderella movie. One of Frozen's best loved characters is Olaf the cheeky snowman. He features heavily in the first movie and also makes an appearance in Frozen Fever. We were also introduced to some new characters in Frozen Fever, in the form of little living snowballs! Whilst writing this review I have learnt that these snowballs are actually called 'Snowgies'... I purchased the 'Frozen Fever Olaf and Mini Snowmen' soft toy after seeing it on the Disney Store website (I don't recall ever seeing it in store though). My daughter hadn't even watched Frozen Fever at the time of purchase but I knew she'd love it regardless, and she did. We have since watched it and she loves her toy all the more! The toy actually consists of three separate toys - Olaf and two mini snowmen (which I'm going to call Snowgies for the rest of this review). They are all attached by plastic tags, with Olaf in the middle and the Snowgies on either side of him. This looks quite cute as it appears that Olaf has his arms around them (warm hugs!) but the plastic tags are easily removed so you can separate them and play with them individually. Olaf looks just as he does on screen - HUGE carrot nose, big smile complete with big front tooth and stick arms and hair. The Snowgies are more basic looking (but no ...

Polar Gear Tiger Water Bottle 31/03/2015

Not a roaring success...

Polar Gear Tiger Water Bottle I purchased the Polar Gear Tiger Water Bottle a couple of weeks ago after persistent nagging from my daughter. I figured it would be suitable for her to take to school and would also be useful for taking out and about, as it folds flat when empty. We found it in Tesco (hanging off a strip of plastic in the drinks aisle) but haven't seen it being sold anywhere else, although I'm sure it is... There are two different fun Polar Gear Water Bottle Designs. My daughter chose the cute looking tiger, although I think I preferred the ladybird! The packaging is open, so you can see exactly what you're getting. The water bottle comes flat, with cardboard backing. It cost quite a reasonable £2.50 (well, it would have been reasonable if they bottle was any good...). The positive points of this particular water bottle are: - It's BPA free - Looks nice and unusual - It folds down flat when empty - It wipes clean - The lid screws off (and the hole on top is quite spacious) to easily allow the bottle to be filled up. The negative points of this particular water bottle are: - It severely leaks. Even when my daughter was holding it upright it was still leaking from around the top! - It doesn't hold a great deal of water, despite saying it allegedly holds 380ml. - The small plastic cap was fiddly for my daughter to fit on to the drinking spout (it's also very small - easily lost and possible choking hazard. Much similar to the 'Fruit Shoot' plastic caps, which I HATE!) - The bottle is ...

Despicable Me Gru's Pet Dog Kyle Soft Toy 05/03/2015

A despicable plush toy

Despicable Me Gru's Pet Dog Kyle Soft Toy My daughter is a MASSIVE fan of the movie Despicable Me. She also has an unhealthy obsession with soft toys. So for Christmas last year I went on a mission to buy her every Despicable Me soft toy that I could get my hands on! Despicable Me centres around a man called Gru who is a loveable villain that adopts 3 girls in a bid to steal the moon... long story! In Despicable Me 2 Gru works alongside the 'Anti-Villain League' to uncover a mystery. In both movies Gru's pet dog 'Kyle' makes appearances. I came across a soft toy of Gru's dog on Amazon. I was quite pleased with myself because I hadn't (and haven't) ever seen him in any toy form before, despite Despicable Me having huge success and subsequently having a massive selection of merchandise to match. It cost £11.08 with free shipping, which I thought was pretty reasonable (at the time of writing this review it currently costs just £9.00). I wasn't too sure if it would be coming from overseas (aka. China), which is always a worry. However it turned up on my doorstep just a week after I ordered it and appeared to come from a UK address. I believe Amazon may have a number of different sellers who stock this product and I have seen some reviews saying that it took a long time for their product to arrive, so I guess it depends who you buy it through (It appears that I purchased from a company called CV Life...). The one and only thing I'm not keen about is that our 'Kyle' doesn't have any tags on it so I'm not sure what ...

Disney Daisy Duck Soft Toy 01/03/2015

Delightful Daisy

Disney Daisy Duck Soft Toy Like most children, my daughter loves all the traditional Disney characters, particularly Daisy Duck so was very pleased to receive a Disney Store Daisy Duck soft toy as a gift from a family member a few months ago. There are two different Daisy's - a medium and small. Our Daisy is the medium version and is exactly as pictured above. She is a 'Disney Store Exclusive'. This means that this particular toy cannot be bought from anywhere else. Daisy has a patch sewn on her left shoe which reads 'Disney Store Exclusive & Authentic Original Product'. The Daisy Duck Soft Toy looks very pretty and just as she should. She wears her trademark clothing - lilac t-shirt with puffball sleeves, big lilac bow on her head and matching shoes with small heel. She also wears a yellow (gold) bangle on her wrist. She has a big orange-yellow beak and floppy legs. Her bottom is white and perfectly plump, complete with tail. She also has big white hands and a big solid tuft of hair around the back (I would say ponytail but maybe I should say ducktail...?). Possibly her best feature is her big blue eyes with purple eyelids and lovely long lashes. None of her clothes can be removed and everything is stitched on. The toy seems very safe and there doesn't appear to be any safety hazards. The toy doesn't appear to have an age recommendation, I can't see why it wouldn't be suited for all ages. The whole toy is very soft on the outside and really plump and squidgy from the inside (perfect for cuddling ...

Central Park Zoo, New York 25/02/2015

A little zoo in the big city

Central Park Zoo, New York Last year we took a wonderful trip to New York. It was our first time, plus we had our young daughter with us so we visited a lot of tourist attractions including Central Park Zoo. Central Park Zoo can be found in (you guessed it) Central Park. We didn’t quite anticipate how big central park actually was… until we got lost! There isn't a great deal of signposts to the zoo either. It is located on 64th street and 5th Avenue. The best way to describe this location to anybody facing Central Park (from any part of Manhattan that is south of the park) is to go to the very right of the park, on the corner, and follow the path until you reach the zoo. We walked there, rather than catch a taxi as our hotel was nearby. The zoo has quite a strange set up as the ticket office and gift shop (as well as childrens zoo) are nearby the zoo but separated. You could visit the gift shop without even visiting the zoo if you wanted to! Plus there is a tiny fence around the zoo and you can see right inside the zoo from the park, so anybody walking past can have a good look at the sealions! I didn’t (and still don’t) really understand how the security worked… surely anybody could jump over the fence at any time? We paid for our tickets at the ticket office, there was no queue and we got given a map. Ticket prices are very reasonable, especially given the ridiculous prices we have to pay here at home. However the size of the zoo does reflect the price, I wouldn’t really want to pay any more! A ...

Carex Hand Wash Chocolate Orange 23/02/2015

Good enough to eat. BUT DON'T!

Carex Hand Wash Chocolate Orange I don't mind admitting that since Carex bought out their 'foody' range of hand washes, I have been slightly obsessed. Whilst I refer to it as the 'foody' range, the actual name of the range is 'Fun Editions' (previously 'Family Favourites' I believe) and it currently includes 4 different scents - Cola Bottles, Strawberry Laces, Bubblegum and Chocolate Orange. I have now tried them all. The first time I tried this particular hand wash, they were on offer in Sainsbury's for just 90p each so I purchased one of each! They normally retail for around £1.50-£2.00 per bottle but I often see them in various supermarkets on offer for less than a pound. Bargain. The Chocolate Orange scent had a lot to live up to, not just because I love to eat chocolate orange but because I had previously used Strawberry Laces and Cola Bottles and they smelt WONDERFUL (I have since tried Bubblegum which also smells amazing). The hand wash comes in a 250ml transparent bottle and looks similar to the other Carex hand washes but with a subtle orange placed below the logo. It has a pump top and dispensing the hand wash is very easy and convenient. The hand wash is a fun looking bright orange colour (not chocolate brown!). I wasn't too convinced that the hand wash would smell like chocolate orange but it really does; you can smell both the chocolate and the orange. If you melted Terry's Chocolate Orange and rubbed it all over your hands, I think it would definitely smell a lot like this hand wash... ...

Despicable Me One-eyed Purple Minion Soft Toy 21/02/2015

Perfectly imperfect (and purple!)

Despicable Me One-eyed Purple Minion Soft Toy My daughter is a MASSIVE fan of the movie Despicable Me. In both movies Gru has a large number of Minions who live with him and work for him. Minions are small, pill-shaped, yellow creatures who all look almost identical. They are strange but cute looking. Most of them have two eyes but some have one eye and all of them wear goggles and overalls. Minions feature heavily in Despicable Me and particularly in Despicable Me 2. HOWEVER! In Despicable Me 2 there are also purple Minions or EVIL Minions...They look similar to regular minions except they are purple, have crazy fluffy hair and are a lot uglier. I went on the look out for a purple Minion soft toy but didn't have much success as they are pretty impossible to find and I haven't actually seen them in any stores. I resorted to Amazon and found one straight away for just £7.23 plus free shipping. It wasn't until after I ordered it that I discovered it was from overseas. I was a little worried about the quality, as I have previously ordered from overseas and some of it has been absolute rubbish but I was pleasantly surprised on this occasion ...

Disney Frozen Warm Hugs Single Duvet Set 18/02/2015

Warm hugs? Yes please!

Disney Frozen Warm Hugs Single Duvet Set Like all young girls, my daughter is currently a massive fan of the Disney movie Frozen. A few months ago I saw a lovely Frozen 'Warm Hugs' duvet set and I decided to buy it to spruce up her Disney Princess bedroom. Character World specialise in children's furniture and feature many different popular characters on their products. They do a few different Frozen duvet sets, our duvet set is the exact one pictured above. I bought my daughters Frozen duvet set from Home Bargains for £12.00 which I think is a very reasonable price. It's also sold at various other stores. The set consists of a duvet cover and pillow case. The duvet cover is the size of a single sized duvet and I have no trouble fitting my daughters duvet inside. The duvet cover seals up with poppers, not buttons, which is a relief because I HATE buttons on duvet covers! The poppers are surprisingly strong and hardly ever pop open, even when my daughter has a particularly active night and decides to kick her covers all over the place. The pillow case is the size of an average pillow. My daughters pillow fits inside perfectly well, although there is plenty of space inside if I decide to get a bigger/plumper pillow. The design is very pretty and my daughter loves it. The duvet set fits in very well with my daughters princess bedroom (although not strictly part of the Disney Princess range, Anna and Elsa are princesses) and she even has matching Character World Frozen 'Warm Hugs' curtains and bean bag! The duvet ...

Besdata Cover & Hardback Case for iPad Mini 15/02/2015

There are a lot better out there...

Besdata Cover & Hardback Case for iPad Mini I purchased the Besdata cover for my Mini iPad sometime late last year. I ordered it from Amazon and don't recall ever seeing the brand in any stores. This probably should have set alarm bells ringing but I was in a rush to get a case or cover for my iPad, and couldn't find a suitable one at any of the stores I visited. There were a number of different colours to choose from, I chose the pink version. When it arrived I was surprised and slightly disappointed to find that it came in 2 separate parts. The back part was a pink plastic semi-transparent clip on case and the front was a softer, bendy, magnetic pink cover. They were 2 different shades of pink, were completely different materials and never really looked like they belonged together. The two parts were held together with a magnetic strip on the side of the iPad. I would say that it looked 'okay' or 'acceptable' but certainly wouldn't say it looked good. The case/cover also came with a chunky stylus and screen protector, neither of which I needed or used. It worked relatively well and protected my iPad sufficiently for around a month of regular use (despite the cover getting the odd permanent scuff from inside of my bag) and I loved the fact it locked my iPad when I closed it. Another good point was that you could fold the cover down to make the iPad stand up. I didn't use this much but I think it's still a useful feature to have. However out of nowhere the corner of the plastic back case snapped off and then the ...

Disney Frozen Plush Figure Olaf 10/02/2015

Do you wanna build a snowman?

Disney Frozen Plush Figure Olaf Like all young girls, my daughter is a massive fan of the Disney movie Frozen. The most well loved character in Frozen has to be Olaf the snowman. Almost a year ago on her birthday she received a fantastic Olaf plush toy from The Disney Store... The Olaf Plush Toy is described as medium and measures approximately 43cm tall and 23cm wide, which is a very reasonable size (the perfect size for cuddles in fact). The only downside of the size is that it's maybe a little too big to take out and about. My daughter usually keeps him in her bed. He has great detailing and looks just like he does in the movie. He is made from various balls of snow and has two twig arms and three black buttons embroidered on the front. He also has a wide smile (with silky-looking signature tooth in the middle), carrot nose, eyes and tufts of hair (or sticks) on top of his head. Everything is stitched on and seems very secure. He sits upright and has a Disney Store patch sewn on to his left foot. The patch reads 'Genuine, Authentic, Original'. I personally much prefer purchasing Disney merchandise through The Disney Store than anywhere else. The Olaf Plush is very squidgy and cuddly. His material is very soft too (made from polyester fibre). He is well made and seems like very good quality. As already mentioned, my daughter has had him for almost a year and he's still in great shape. I thought he might need regular washing (due to his white colour) but we haven't needed to wash him just yet, although ...
