Web-blinds.com 26/01/2004

Excellent Service, great product

Web-blinds.com After searching many high street retailers and department stores we were struggling to find a blind for our bedroom. We could not find any ready made, as the window is the complete width of our bedroom, just over nine feet. We looked at made to measure from the John Lewis, but this worked out too expensive. We decided to check out the web for any made to measure sites. We came across Web-blinds.com and they were just what we were looking for. They do a great range for vertical, venison, roman, and normal roller blinds. All came is a large select of fabrics, designs and colours. There is a great page where you can enter the measurements of your window and it will calculate the cost of the blind, by style and fabric. Another page allows you to recreate your room, in our case the bedroom, then experiment with different blinds and fabrics while on line. There are very simple online instructions on how to measure your window, then how to place your order. They allow you to order swatches of material, we ordered five in all. This allowed us to compare them with our current décor before making the final decision. Ordering was simple, you could even select what day you wanted delivery, also AM or PM. For a small charge there is a Saturday delivery option. Delivery was prompt via a courier, our order could have been ready earlier, but we delayed it and opted for a Saturday delivery. The blind came well packaged; the instructions were easy to follow. In all, ...

Courts (Shop) 25/01/2004

Excellent Service, great product

Courts (Shop) SERVICE After a horrendous episode with MFI, it was a joy to find a high street furniture retailer who actually looked after the customer. After hunting round many furniture stores within Stevenage, looking for a sofa. It was a pleasure to walk in to Courts and receive outstanding customer service from the sales lady. She was courteous, knowledgeable and a good humoured. She gave us enough space to look around, but let us know that she was there is we needed her, which is a welcome change after feeling pressured by sale people in other stores. When we found the sofa we wanted, she sat down with us and went through all the features and options; again she let us lead the conversation, offering ideas and suggestions along the way. Even with the optional extras, like the fabric warranty and guarantee, she explained it all too us, but she was not pushy. All of which we took up, by the way. I'd like to mention the guys who delivered our sofas. They did an outstanding job getting both the three and two sofas up the stairs and into our first floor flat. They were courteous, well mannered and thoughtful. Although it was a struggle getting the sofas in, they did it with patience and care. As a result of this great service, we have just placed an online order for a coffee table with Courts to with our new sofas. PRODUCT The two and three seater sofas are well made and attractive. They fit well within our lounge. They are both made of high quality ...

Trust Ami Hand Track - trackball 24/01/2004

You get what you pay for

Trust Ami Hand Track - trackball We brought the Trust AMI Hand Track after purchasing a laptop in the New Year. We currently use a MS Trackball Optical 1.0, which is great for desk work, but we wanted a track ball which would work when you have the laptop away from your desk, say on your laptop. We brought the AMI Hand Track (AHT) because of price which was £14.99 from STAPLES. After being use to using a scroll wheel is was difficult to getting use the dragging down on the scroll bar. The AHT fits over your finger next to your thumb and you use your thumb to move the wheel and press the left and right mouse buttons. There is a third button, situated within the while where your finger goes and acts as a second left button, the action is that of pressing a trigger on a guy. After about 30 minutes use, your hand becomes uncomfortable, and the constant trigger action is a bit heavy going on the finger joint. The ball action is also too free flow, it needs a little resistance. Quite often the cursor would shot off across the screen, even after adjusting the mouse settings. However at the end of the day you get what you pay for, and the AHT does offer scroll ball use away from a desk, although not for a prolonged period. ...

MFI (Shop) 09/01/2004

Bedroom completion delayed by delivery & QC issues

MFI (Shop) We decided to have a fitted bedroom from MFI, after looking at several other high street stores and retailers. We based our decision on price, range and quality. Although we could not fault the store at all, they were helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. The after care service we received from MFI head office and customer services left us feeling, let down and dejected. Our main issues are: • Missing carcass from delivery. This held up fitting • No prior warning that carcass would not be delivered until we were informed by the delivery driver. • MFI would not bend over getting the carcass delivered quicker than 48 hours. • MFI customer services, made use feel that once they had your money, that was it. • Second carcass in delivery was damp damaged, which had not been check prior to dispatch. • Fitting was again held up by the delay in getting the replacement damp damaged carcass to us. • No one at supplier or delivery depot checked order was complete or damage free before dispatch. • 90% of the phone calls were made by us, with having to chase for updates from MFI. • MFI customer services played ‘piggy in the middle’ with us, between themselves and the store. Conclusion of our experience with MFI The bedroom was completed three days later than planned. We had to book extra leave from work to allow the fitter to complete and MFI to make additional deliveries. We did get a £200 ‘good will gesture’ from MFI, but only after putting our complaint in ...

BT Diverse 4010 C 08/01/2004

Diverse 4010

BT Diverse 4010 C The 4010 is a good middle market digital home phone, it was easy to set up and the instruction manual well put together. I purchased an additional hand set which was easy to install as well. Unlike other cordless phones I had in the past, the hand set sits neatly and securely into the base unit, with an audible alert letting you know that it’s seated correctly and charging. The depending on use the handset will last a whole week before needing charging back in the base unit. The choice of ring / alert tones for both the base unit and hand set are good. The functions are good and all menu driving, the phone book is good and allows enough text in the description field to give your phone numbers a name that makes sense. Although it would be nice to be to clone the phone book between handsets, otherwise you have to set up the phone book for every handset. The intercom system is good, it allows my better half to contact me from any where around the house or garden, as long as I’m carrying a handset, the range is good too, not loss of signal quality. ...

Panasonic SC-MT 1 08/01/2004

Great home cinema system

Panasonic SC-MT 1 I went for the Panasonic SCMT1 as a replacement for my current DVD player. I wanted a combined DVD home cinema system from a reputable manufacturer at a reasonable price. It was reasonably easy to set up, with a good step by step guide for wiring and placement. Although the manual did get heavy when taking you through all the functions. It was sometime difficult to find out what a function did when looking through the guide. The sound and picture quality are of a high standard. The first DVD I played on it was Saving Private Ryan, and I could have been on the beach with them. The functions are great, once I managed to function out what they did, some of the descriptions on the remote need to be dumbed down a bit. I felt that I had to reach for the manual every time I wanted to see what a button did. Simpler markings or descriptions would have been a great help. ...

Fujitsu AMILO D-7830 08/01/2004

What a great little worker

Fujitsu AMILO D-7830 The AMLIO D series is a great laptop. Having this as my first laptop was a great decision. The overall design and layout is well thought out, making it easy and comfortable to use. It oozes extras, having 5 USB2.0 ports, CD RW / DVD combined, firewire, huge ram, graphics and disk space, in fact more than I’ll ever need. I never thought I’d be able to get on with a touch pad mouse, but the layout of the keyboard and pad make it simple and I’ve taken to it like a fish to water. The software they supplied is excellent and useful, unlike some pc’s I’ve brought in the past who seem to pass on old, out of date and useless packages just to bulk out what they are offering you. I never considered buying Fujitsu Siemens before, but they’ve not let me down. ...

Officejet 4110 - What a little worker

Hewlett-Packard 4110 I've always had a separate printer and scanner, using fax software supplied with my pc. Recently I've converted to a laptop. As part of my space saving plan, I decided to swap over to a multi function devise. Having always used HP for my printers, I decided to stick with them, and again they have not let me down. The OfficeJet 4110 is a great little worker, it’s quick neat and the quality is excellent. All the functions are easy to use and setting up was a piece of cake. All the documentation was simple, easy to ready and follow. The support software does it all for you and talks you through what ever function you want to use. Scanning, faxing, copying, printing are all a breeze. For just under £150, this is a bargain. ...
