Macdonald Loch Rannoch Hotel & Resort, Pitlochry 29/11/2007

Beautiful Location, Expensive Hotel

Macdonald Loch Rannoch Hotel & Resort, Pitlochry >>>>Overview<<<< Macdonald Hotels have 40 hotels situated all over the UK. They have hotels in rural areas as well as in busy towns and city centres. They have mostly 4 and 5 star hotels and claim to offer impeccable service, fine cuisine and first class accommodation for a memorable stay. We decided to go away for a relaxing few days and chose the Macdonald Loch Rannoch Hotel as this looked like it would be perfect for us! "Hidden away amid 250 acres of breathtaking Perthshire countryside lies an enduring testament to the charm of Highland living. With its comfortable lounges, sumptuous bedrooms and stunning views, Loch Rannoch Hotel is a reminder of gentler, less hurried times". >>>>Location<<<< The Macdonald Loch Rannoch Hotel is situated in the picturesque village of Kinloch Rannoch set on the banks of Loch Rannoch. The village of Kinloch Rannoch is around 20 miles outside of the small town of Pitlochry and the City of Perth is about 45 miles away. Kinloch Rannoch really is in the middle of nowhere so as you can imagine the road to get there is very long, narrow and winding so you need to take your time. However, the scenery is beautiful so you will want to take your time anyway! >>>>The Hotel<<<< The hotel is a 19th century former shooting lodge and is cream in colour with lots of character. When we first went inside my first thoughts were that the décor was a bit old fashioned, but this did not put me off. However I think it would be a whole lot ...

Gyle Shopping Centre, Edinburgh 13/11/2007

Take a Walk Down the Gyle

Gyle Shopping Centre, Edinburgh I visited the Gyle shopping centre last week for the first time in about 6 years. I never thought much of it before; I always thought it was quite boring with very few shops that really weren't up to much. I felt that there were other shopping centres nearby that offered a better choice of shops. Well I'm pleased to say that I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in last week! It has changed so much for the better, so I thought I should write a review! >>>>Some Facts<<<< The Gyle was opened in October 1993. It is located in the west of Edinburgh just off the M8 and M9 motorways and a short drive from Edinburgh airport. The centre is open from 9.30am until 8pm every weeknight except a Thursday when it is open until 9pm. It opens from 9am until 6pm on a Saturday and from 10am until 6pm on a Sunday. From what I have heard the Gyle does get very busy at weekends, however I visited on a Thursday night and it was really quite quiet, so I managed to really enjoy my shopping experience. >>>>Getting There<<<< The Gyle is really easy to find by car, because as I've previously said it is located not far from the motorways and the airport. It is also well signposted so you won't get lost! I don't actually stay in Edinburgh so I'm not too sure about bus services to and from the Gyle, but you do see a lot of buses there so I think they are quite frequent. You can also get to the Gyle by train as it is located within walking distance of Edinburgh Park Station. ...

Go Direct!

direct holidays >>>>Overview<<<< "Why pay commission? Cut It Out! Go Direct!" Direct Holidays cuts out the middle man and helps you to cut the cost of your holiday, so in other words there is no travel agent involved and therefore no commission. They offer holidays to all the popular destinations such as: The Canaries, the Balearics, Spain, The Greek Islands, Portugal, Italy, Malta, Cyprus and Turkey; as well as worldwide destinations such as: Tunisia, Mexico, Florida and Jamaica and they offer flights from all major UK airports. They are part of the Thomas Cook Group along with Airtours, Cosmos, Going Places and My Travel. In addition they are ATOL Protected so this gives you peace of mind when using them. I have used Direct Holidays about 5 times and I have never been disappointed with the service I have received. They really do offer excellent value for money. When looking for a holiday I like to do a lot of research and shop around for the best deal, however each time no one can match the price I get from Direct Holidays. Actually the last holiday I booked I thought I'd try going into a Going Places Travel Agents to see if I could lower the price and even though they are part of the same group they couldn't match the price I received from Direct Holidays, they were in fact a few hundred pounds more expensive! >>>>Booking<<<< There are a few ways to look for and book a holiday from Direct Holidays: in person at a shop (they have shops in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Belfast, Newcastle, ...

Sheraton Centre Hotel, Toronto 23/10/2007

Perfect Hotel in a Perfect Location

Sheraton Centre Hotel, Toronto We have visited Toronto a couple of times and each time we have stayed at the Sheraton, it really is a fantastic hotel. Both times we have booked through Canadian affair, we have found them to be very effiecient and reasonably priced. They offer flights out of nearly all of the major airports and offer various different hotels in Toronto, one of them being the Sheraton Centre. >>>>Overview<<<< The hotel has a lot to offer: an indoor/outdoor heated pool (half of the pool is indoor and the other half is outdoor, in the winter I think they can make it all indoor by closing it off), a gym, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Spa, a secure car park, valet parking, room service, vending machines with food and drink and ice machines (these are situated on nearly all floors in the hotel), beautiful gardens with water features, 3 restaurants and a bar. >>>> LOCATION <<<< The Sheraton Centre is located on Queen Street right in the centre of Toronto, within walking distance of all the main attractions such as the CN Tower, the popular shops, the main mall (The Eaton Centre), bars and restaurants. In Toronto this really is the best place to be as you are right in the middle of everything, and you can walk to the major attractions such as the CN Tower in about 10-15 minutes. We also really liked staying here as each night we could easily find a really nice restaurant or bar and we never had to walk far from the hotel. >>>>First Impressions<<<< When we first ...

Poor Hotel in Coral Bay Paphos

Ascos, Paphos We visited the Ascos Coral Beach Hotel last August and I'm afraid I really don't have many good things to say about it! >>>>Overview<<<< This is a 4 star hotel located in Coral Bay 11km Paphos. It is an adult only hotel and does not take bookings for anyone under the age of 16. It has 2 swimming pools one indoor and one outdoor, a gym, a Jacuzzi and a souvenir shop. The hotel offer a half board option or an all inclusive option. We booked last minute on an all inclusive basis, this cost us just under £1000 which we thought was really good value. >>>> LOCATION <<<< The hotel is situated in Coral Bay which is about a 10 min drive from Paphos. The hotel is quite a bit out of the way so to get around it is better to hire a car. It's a very quiet town containing only a few hotels, villas, a crazy golf course and one street of shops and restaurants. I did like Coral Bay itself as it was a very quiet and relaxing place, but this is not the place to go if you are looking for a lively action packed holiday! The hotel is situated at the coral beach and has some wonderful views over the water. (Please note this is not really a beach, as it's very rocky with no sand!). >>>>First Impressions<<<< When we first arrived we both really liked the look of the hotel. The hotel from the outside looked very modern and the reception area made the hotel look like a 4 star plus, because it was so big with marble floors and the reception staff were very helpful. >>>>The ...
