Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Feeding Bottles 08/06/2014

The Perfect Baby Bottle

Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Feeding Bottles Before having a baby myself I always thought that a Baby Bottle was a Baby Bottle and that no matter what the brand or price, that they were all the same and even thought it was rather silly of people to spend excessive amounts of money on "designer" brands of bottles when you can get packs of 3 baby bottles in Poundland. But admiteddly, I couldn't have been more wrong! We own about 10 different baby bottles in total and about 6 of them are the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles and the others are bog standard cheapies from the likes of Poundland etc. the first and most noticeable aspect of these bottles is the shape of them, the teat has been cleverly shaped so that when your baby is drinking from them it feels very similar to a breast which is great if you are trying to wean your baby from breast to bottle - I think that could be why they are called "Closer to Nature"! I've found that the teats on the cheaper bottles don't fit in my son's mouth as well and they often fall out when he's feeding or worse the little hole for the milk to come through gets clogged up and blocked much to my little boys disapproval when he sucks and finds nothing comes out! I have never had that problem with these Tomme Tippee bottles though and the holes are also the perfect size for the right amount of milk to come through. The larger Tommee Tippee bottles fit up to 260ml of milk which accomodates for older babies who need to drink more. We also have 2 smaller Tommee Tippee bottles which ...

Killers (DVD) 08/06/2014

A Great Feel-good Film

Killers (DVD) The last movie I watched was Killers which stars Ashton Kutcher as Assasin Spencer Aimes and Katherine Heigl as his wife Jen Kornfeldt, they meet while on vacation in France and quickly fall in love and get married etc. but Jen is completely unaware of the fact that her husband is an assasin and Spencer actually leaves the assasin scene to lead a quite Suburban life with his new wife, hoping that she will never have to find out about his past occupation. 3 Years on and all seems well until Spencer starts to receive word that his past life is about to come back to haunt him and soon he realises that all of the friends/family who have been in his life for the past 3 years aren't all who they seem and he can't trust anyone. Of course the truth then unfolds to his wife and they then have to find out what is going on and why Spencer is being targeted whilst trying to stay alive at the same time. Admittedly, this isn't my usual type of film I'd watch and a Rom-Com like this I would normally find very cheesy and predictable. But I actually really enjoyed this film, there were a few laugh out loud moments but most importantly Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl worked really well as a duo and their on-screen chemistry is probably what made this movie so enjoyable. I also really like Katherine Heigl, I thought she was brilliant in the movie 'Knocked Up' so it was an added bonus that she played the female lead in the film. Ashton Kutcher is often stereo cast in my opinion and tends ...

Clinique Anti-Gravity Firming Eye Lift Cream 04/06/2014

Don't Bother with this one

Clinique Anti-Gravity Firming Eye Lift Cream I have tried a ridiculous amount of Eye Creams to date as I tend to suffer with very dark under eye bags which look absolutely awful and I'm also a tad paranoid about getting wrinkly eyes which will make me look older than I actually am, hence the reason I have spent so much on these types of creams. The Clinique Anti-Gravity Firming Eye Lift Cream is the most recent one I've tried and when I bought it in my local Boots I was expecting to see good results from it as I'm normally very impressed with Clinique. I paid £23.50 for the cream which tends to be the going rate for this product from what I've seen, so it wasn't exactly cheap but from my experience I've found that any cheaply priced Eye Cream is a waste of time as they are totally hopeless, so again the price tag for this one got my hopes up. Since the tub of this cream was only 15ml, I used it very sparingly to try and get my money's worth. The cream is white with quite a rich texture and the instructions directed me to apply the cream twice daily - which I did morning and night. The first problem I had with the cream is that it didn't absorb very quickly with it being to richly textured, so even though I only applied a very small amount it took a long time to sink in and dry on my face which was a bit of a nuisance when I was trying to get ready in a hurry. I have to say though that once the cream had absorbed, it did leave the area around my eyes feeling very soft, so it is certainly very moisturizing. The cream ...

Ben & Jerry's Choc Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream 04/06/2014

I Love Ben & Jerry!

Ben & Jerry's Choc Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream I am a huge Ben & Jerry's fan as their Ice Cream in my opinion is simply the best around and they have the most original and tasty flavours compared to any other Ice Cream company I know and their Cookie Dough flavour is my absolute favourite! The taste and texture is perfect in every way and I'm about to tell you how. First of all the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream tubs are all very attractive with mouth watering cartoon images of the flavour you'll find inside the tub, that along with the unique (and sometimes strange sounding) flavour stamped across the front of the tub is enough in itself to make you want to buy this delicious treat. There is always a thin plastic seal around the lid of the tub which peels off very easily allowing you to pop off the lid and get stuck into your treat without any struggling with extra layers or packaging. One inside the tube I ALWAYS find that the Ice Cream is so soft and smooth and even when the tub has been in the freezer for a few days, it's still ready to eat straight away and my spoon always scoops nicely through the Ice Cream without getting stuck and I am able to dig my way through to find the exciting parts ie. the Cookie Dough and Chocolate Chips! The Cookie Dough pieces are rounded into little ball shapes and all contain the most scrumptious Chocolate Chips which truely do make it the best Cookie Dough I've ever tasted. I have tried some Cookie Doughs in the past that can be very salty and not at all that tasty, but Ben & Jerry's has ...

Inglourious Basterds(DVD) 12/05/2014

Revenge is best served HOT!

Inglourious Basterds(DVD) I had put off watching Inglourious Basterds for quite a while as it looked like a Historical war film which is totally not my thing and I just wasn't keen on watching it at all, but my boyfriend persuaded me to finally watch it the other night since it had apparently been received really well and was supposedly one of Quentin Tarantino's best films to date. The film is set in France during World War II when the country was heavily occupied by the Nazis who have set upon hunting down Jews and killing them at the orders of their Fuhrer - Hitler. But in France there are also a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as "The Basterds" who are intent in stopping the Nazis from killing anymore Jews and putting the fear of god in them by brutally killing any Nazi solider they come across. The film is quite gruesome in many of its scenes and it graphically shows The Basterds scalping the Nazis and killing them in other horrendous ways which made me squeem as some parts, but this just goes to show how far The Basterds are prepared to go to stop the slaughter of Jewish citizens. A key character throughout the film is Colonel Hans Landa who is nicknamed "The Hangman", he is probably one of the worst Nazis of all and has killed many Jewish families and children, so you quickly despise his character from the beginning and go on the journey with The Basters hoping that they will succeed in putting the Nazis in their place and stopping what they are so mercilessly doing. Mind you I do ...

Pro-Fitness Folding Manual Treadmill 12/05/2014

I would be better of just Jogging on the Spot!

Pro-Fitness Folding Manual Treadmill I had always wanted to own a treadmill but the expensive state of the art models were well out of my price range so I knew that I'd only be able to buy a Manual treadmill instead. I had heard many people saying that manual treadmills were rubbish and a waste of time, but I figured they would be better than nothing. I bought the Pro Fitness Folding Manual Treadmill from Argos and it cost me £79.99 which is about as much as I could stretch to at the time. My reason for buying a treadmill was because I felt like I'd put on weight and I also noticed my fitness levels were really bad for my young age, I couldn't even run up the staircase without getting out of breath. I wanted something I could use in the comfort of my own home instead of having to go to a gym full of people, that way I would be able to use it in my own way and own time and also be able to take breaks whenever I wanted. First of all I have to mention that bringing the treadmill home from Argos wasn't easy as it was very heavy! It comes packed in a considerably large box that 2 of us struggled to carry, I found myself wishing that I'd ordered it for Home Delievery instead of Collection. I was then concerned about how well I'd manage to assemble the treadmill as I imagined it wouldn't be easy. But thankfully, the instructions that were included were really easy to understand and it only took me about 20 minutes to put together. The base of the treadmill which is the part your run on, is on a slight incline of ...

Verbatim Store 'n' Go Pin Stripe USB Drive - USB flash drive - 4 GB 20/04/2014

My Life Saver :)

Verbatim Store 'n' Go Pin Stripe USB Drive - USB flash drive - 4 GB I have been using USB Memory sticks for Flash Drives since I was at school and used them for storing Coursework etc. but for those who aren't familiar with these they are basically a modern version of a Floppy Disk! You save the files from your computer that you want onto this little USB stick which you can then carry anywhere with you and it can be plugged into any computer (as long as it has a USB port) to access your saved files. Depending on the size of the USB stick you have, the more or less files you can save. I've owned USB Drive's in the past that had small capacities of around 150MB or so and this was really never enough for me and I would always have to delete older files in order to make room to save newer ones which was annoying. So I wanted to buy a USB Drive that I could fit plenty of files into, inluding photos as I have a lot of treasured photos that I want to keep. I found the Verbatim Store 'n'go Pin Stripe USB Drive on Ebay for only £6, it was available in several colours including Hot Pink which is the one I opted for. So not only is it practical, it also looks girly! It has a memory capacity of 4GB which holds a lot of photos and files so it is exactly what I needed. I save pretty much everything that means anything to me on this USB Drive and it caters for all types of documents and files. It is a great way of backing up your stuff so that if god forbid something happens to your computer or laptop and everything is lost, you have it all backed up on ...

The Blind Side (DVD) 20/04/2014

What Lies in Store for Big Mike?

The Blind Side (DVD) Recently I've gotten into a bit of a habit of watching some stupid films that have little meaning and actually 70% are some kind of Horror film or another, so I decided to take a step in a different direction for once and watch a film which sounded as though it had a very moving and meaningful storyline. The Blind Side tells the Story of Michael Oher otherwise known as Big Mike who has had a traumatic life and is now homeless. Straight away the viewer gets a real feel for how bad this poor boy's situation is - he is sleeping wherever he can find any warmth, he is wearing the same clothes everyday and having to wash them by hand in a sink at a Laundromat ... you get the immediate impression that Michael's life isn't going to get any better and that the poor thing will continue to live like that with very few reasons to live, it is really very sad. Then a teacher at a local Sports College for rich and rather snooty people, sees some potential in Michael and believes that one day he could be a great Football player. So the teacher then has the difficult task of persuading the other teaching staff to let Michael attend the prestigious school. Once in the school, Michael isn't allowed to play any Sport until he can get his basic education off the ground and prove that he does have the ability to learn - which doesn't start off so well and people start to lose the faith that they had in him. But then the real hero of the film steps in and that is Leigh Anne Tuohy played by ...

Perfume - The Story Of A Murderer (DVD) 18/04/2014

ZZZZ .....

Perfume - The Story Of A Murderer (DVD) This film had been on my "To Watch" list for quite some time since it was first released in 2006 simply because the title sounded intriguing - 'Perfume: The Story of a Murderer' I love perfume and I love horror films so I thought that this would be the movie for me! The film is set in Eighteenth Century Paris and usually I find these types of films are done in a beautiful old-fashioned setting but this one was really dark and dreary to be honest, set in dirty poverty stricken streets it was far from beautiful. I understand that this is the way it was supposed to be portrayed for the purpose of the film, but for me it was instantly off putting. The key character in the film is Jean-Baptiste Grenouille who has a superior (and strange) sense of smell - he can literally smell every slightest thing from a mile off! His character is one of the strangest I've seen in a movie and he really creeped me out to begin with, the way he snuck around trying to sniff everybody. But then I grew bored of his pathetic personality especially since he actually spoke very little and he failed to hold my attention to be honest. His character takes a sinister turn (although to me he was already sinister by being such a weirdo) when he starts to murder in order to capture "the perfect scent". You see he has created the world's finest perfume and is now intent on making his creation even more capturing, hence his dark actions. I was bored during this film as I felt it took too long to pan out and ...

Four Brothers DVD 18/04/2014

Four Determined Brothers

Four Brothers DVD I recently watched the action film 'Four Brothers' which is about four brothers (obviously) who are looking to avenge their mothers death after she is murdered by a gang in a hold up at a liquer store. Throughout the movie it becomes more apparent that this wasn't a random killing and a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time and instead it seems there is a motive for their mothers cold blooded murder. The Four Brothers in the movie are played by Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Andre Benjamin and Garrett Hedlund. They are four very different characters with contrasting personalities which makes the film all the more watchable. The are of different races because they aren't biological brothers, they were all adopted by the same mother. I don't think the movie would have been as good if it was just a normal family of four biological brothers to be honest, the mixture made it all a lot more exciting. There was plenty of action throughout the film as the brothers set out to find those responsible for their mothers murder and along the way they have to fit pieces of the story together to work out the truth behind what happened. The film has very intense moments when it appears that someone very close to them could actually be to blame for their mothers death, you are certainly left to wonder throughout the film what the truth actually is. The movie has its emotional moments too and you really feel for the situations that some of the characters find themselves in. ...

Coca-Cola 16/04/2014

Stay Clear!

Coca-Cola I have to admit that about 3 years ago I was a Coca Cola addict and I would go through several cans a day without giving much thought to the effect it was having on my health. Vodka and coke was also my main thing I would drink on a night out, so I was consuming plenty of the stuff no matter what the occasion was. Fortunately, I suddenly went completely off Coca Cola and stopped drinking it. I think this was because the Vodka and coke I was drinking on nights out was starting to taste more and more just like flat Cola and was leaving a horrible sickly after taste in my mouth the next morning after a night out. But I'm glad now because the effect of drinking so much coke was terribly bad for me! A health teacher at school informed me that a regular sized can of Coca Cola contains 8 LARGE HEAPED spoons of sugar! That piece of information has always stuck with me as well as an experiment I did at school where we left a 2p coin in a cup of coke overnight and found the next day that the coin was totally rotten - so imagine what the drink does to your poor teeth! On my most recent trip to the dentist I discovered that the effects of my Coca Cola days are still showing as parts of my teeth have enamel wearing away and have gone kind of see through. If that was from only a year or so of being Coca Cola mad I can only imagine that my teeth would have fallen out eventually if I'd carried on the way I was going! When I used to enjoy drinking Coke I found it really sweet and just a ...

Sandisk Securedigital SD 512 512 MB 16/04/2014

Reliability - Good, Size - Bad

Sandisk Securedigital SD 512 512 MB I have a LOT of photos & videos on my computer mostly of my one year old son and also hundreds of others I've accumulated over the years and when it comes to these types of files I am very careful to have them saved somewhere on some type of media storage as back up in case they are ever lost from my computer. I own a few different digital cards like this one to house my growing memories, but I have to say if I'd purchased a card with a bigger capacity than this one originally, then I wouldn't need to have so many different cards! It was almost 2 years ago when I bought this Sandiskcard for around £12 in a shop in town, I knew that the 512MB capacity it was offering wasn't exactly huge but the bigger sized cards (2, 4 & 8GB) were quite expensive at the time so I figured I would just settle for this one for now and see how far it got me. Well not that far is the answer, considering the vast amount of files I needed to save, I had to plough through and pick out my favourites to save just for now. Capacity aside, the card is easy to use and slides nicely into the memory card slot of my digital camera. The content of the card loads up practically straight away so it is very efficient. It has also been greatly reliable as the photos I have saved on the card from 2 years ago are still in tact and still load up quickly, so there have been no mishaps with this card. I have also been able to use it any pretty much anyone's digital camera that I've tried which is good. The problem now ...

Johnson's Holiday Skin Body Lotion 16/04/2014

Love it!

Johnson's Holiday Skin Body Lotion I will never forget when Johnson's Holiday Skin was first launched, I was 15 and still in High School. One of the "popular" girls was receiving compliments on how tanned she looked much to everyone's bemusement since she hadn't been on Holiday recently, it was then that I first heard of this product when she announced that was what she'd been using. Well it was bottles of Holiday Skin all round for all the girls in the year group as what I can only describe as a Johnson's pandemic spread like wild fire! I was looking quite pasty myself so of course I had to get in on the action and it was then that my love affair with Holiday Skin began! At the time it was a product that was amazing everyone, including myself, for the fact that it wasn't a regular Self-Tanning product but a Moisturising Body Lotion which had the ability to gradually build a gorgeous and natural looking tan - and it really did! I loved the fact that it was keeping my skin soft and moisturised as well as enhancing my tan, it quickly became my favourite Beauty Product. It is available in different shades which accommodates for all Skin types and Colours. The kind I use is for 'Normal to Fair' skin but you can also buy 'Medium to Dark'. I am naturally fair so the shade suited me perfectly. The lotion is also White in colour and it was very nice to be applying a tanning product that for once wouldn't stain my skin and leave my hands bright Orange! I LOVE the smell of the lotion too and I can smell the scent ...

Asda Blue Charge 14/04/2014

Not my Energy drink of choice ...

Asda Blue Charge I am a complete Red Bull addict and I drink at least 2 cans a day even though I know it is bad for me, I've become almost reliant on it to keep me awake throughout the day. The "Real" Red Bull is very expensive in my opinion and for the vast amount I drink it would cost me a fortune to buy that kind. So I tend to opt for the cheaper alternatives instead such as the Supermarket's own brands like Asda Blue Charge. I do think that all of the different kinds Red Bull available all vary considerable in taste, but they still have that "Energy Drink" flavour to them and do the job of keeping me awake. But I've got to be honest, the worst out of all the cheaper Red Bulls is Asda Blue Charge. The taste of the drink it like Orange Peel, it is actually has a stronger Orange taste than some Orange Juices I've tried! The smell is also very Orangey & I just find it so strange considering it's supposed to be an Energy Drink that resembles Red Bull. On looking through the Ingredients the only think I can really see that would cause the Orange taste is the Citric Acid & Sweetners it contains. It also states that it contains Fruit and Vegetable Concentrates which are; Carrot, Apple & Hibiscus - perhaps this combination makes up an Orangey taste? Whatever the cause, the strong Orange taste really puts me off as it was not what I wanted when I bought the drink. The Caffeine content in the drink which is 30mg per 100ml, does help keep me awake, but it is just not pleasant to drink. It is ...

St. John's Wort 15/03/2014

Dangerously Depressing

St. John's Wort I have suffered with depression for many years now starting from when I was about 14 years old, I've reached rock bottom a few times but I've never came crashing down as hard as I did when I was taking St John's Wort ... My dad is a regular shopper at the Health Shop Holland & Barrett and it was my dad who came across 'St John's Wort' on one of his visits to the shop. It was described as being a Herbal Remedy to aid Mild Depression, containing the active ingredient Hypericum Perforatum. My dad has also suffered with depression from a young age so he bought them to try for himself and he also bought some for me to try. I was about 16 or 17 years old at the time and my concerned dad was obviously trying to help me in any way he could by buying something that could possibly make me feel better. I was of course sceptical, but my dad tried hard to reassure me as he has a lot of confidence in products that are sold in Holland & Barrett and to be honest I thought what have I got to lose? St John's Wort is a plant which grows in a few different parts of the world including Europe. The active ingredient Hypericum Perforatum is thought to work in the same way as Anti-Depressant medication by effecting the level of Serotonin etc. in the brain. I had to take 1 Capsule 3 times a day with meals, as directed by the bottle the Capsules came in. This seemed like quite a high dosage to take, but since they were Herbal I wasn't that worried. For the first fortnight or so, I didn't ...
