24 - Series 5 - Complete (DVD) 14/01/2007

I've had a bad day.

24 - Series 5 - Complete (DVD) Ok....so for a long time i've been planning to write reviews on the previous seasons of 24. Since i'm totally addicted to the series, i thought i would review them all! Mmmmm well that was a while ago now, and i still havn't got round to it!! So i thought i'd review the most recent series, seeing as i watched it non stop last weekend, in prepartation for season 6 hitting sky this month. Need to be up to date! Yes last weekend consisted of marathon viewing, eating crap, drinking crap, and stopping ony to insert the next dvd, get some more crap, or to take a loo break! Yes you could either call it dedicated, or just a waste of time, but seeing as this is 24....... It seems you either love and know 24 of by heart, or you've never even heard of it! 24 is the ground breaking series, featuring CTU (Counter terriost unit) agent Jack Bauer, following him in the many bad days he seems to have. Each series is set in "real time" , therefore there are 24 hours over 24 episodes inb each. Previous seasons have seen Jack (played by the totally fantastic, and totally believable Kiether Sutherland) save America/presidents from terrorists, loose loved ones, be betrayed and just everything in between. Lets just say, each new day (or season) Jack fights the evil form of terrorism from many different groups. No season begins or ends well for Jack it seems, and this one is no different. ***SUMMARY OF SEASON 5*** Season 5 begins at 6am, with Jack playing "dead". Only 4 people know that he ...

Everything that starts with B ... 06/01/2007

Blonde to brunette.

Everything that starts with B ... This is one of the hardest stories i've yet to tell....today, a fantastic relationship ended. After 3 many happy years, me and blondeness said a teary farewell.....i'm now a bloody brunette....my god!!! It all started this morning. I was on my way to the hairdressers when an amazing thought came over me....there was nothing much else i could do with my hair so why not change the colour? Sounded like a great idea! I could finally say goodbye to all the blonde jokes, the whistles from men, just because they'd seen the colour of my hair, and the horror of wrecking my hair each time i went to the hairdressers! I boldly walked in to the hairdressers and sat in the chair. Jay said to me "the usual?" To which i replied "nope, lets go brown!" The hairdryers stopped, conversation ceased, and i was being stared at like a lepor! The girl who loves her blondeness had sworn! Jay immediately thought that it was "fab" She loves anything that alows her to be creative! We chose the colour, and i sat there smiling as Jay trotted of to mix it. I sipped my orange juice with my head full of thoughts of me being a sexy brunette! Oooo the shock when people saw me would be worth it alone! Jay returned and started slapping the dye on my roots, merrily talking about her new year. Two of the saturday girls stood around me saying things like "oh my god, your so brave" and " i wouldn't do that" Doubts began to creep slowly into my mind....god what was i doing. Too late now though, Jay was already ...

Twinings Cranberry Raspberry and Elderflower Fruit Infusion 06/01/2007

I started with good intentions.....

Twinings Cranberry Raspberry and Elderflower Fruit Infusion Well how does the saying go....new year, new you? Well i thought i'd give it a go at being a bit more healthy this year, so trotted of to my local tesco to stock up on "healthy" goodies. I picked up a box of twinings fruit bliss, cranberry, raspberry and elderflower tea bags, thinking it sounded nice. I really do need to stop drinking so much diet coke, so thought this would provide me with a tasty alternative....the box promised me an uplifting blend to drink!! Well in these cold, dark days i need all the uplifting i can get so all in all it sounded perfect!!! ***THE BRAND*** Twinings is an extremely popular brand, providing fruit teas, herbal teas, tea teas......every tea you can think of. A well known and respected brand winings have been producing various teas for over 300 years (reached the 300 years mark in 2006)....got plenty of experience then. But anyway i'm not here to give you a history lesson, i just simply wanted to point out the experience and reputation of the twinings label!! If, however, you do want to know a bit more history, you can always visit the website, www.twinings.com... ***THE PACKAGING*** The thing with all twining pacakaging is it always looks so attractive, which is probably why i picked this box of the shelf in the first place. It's a softly coloured box, a pale, raspberry kind of colour, keeping in line with the pinky, reddy ingredients of the tea. There is a lovely, appealing picture of the ingredients, and the classic gold and ...

Kenwood CP666 Curry Slow Cooker 03/01/2007

I can't cook, so why get me this!!

Kenwood CP666 Curry Slow Cooker Well yet another, quite frankly strange christmas pressie recieved....a curry slow cooker. I got to admit when i opened the lovely wrapping paper, i had a bit of a shock! I can't cook, so what the hell was i supposed to do with it? I sat there thinking how much could i get for it on Ebay, when t'other halfs mum said to me "Now you can learn to be a proper woman and cook for my boy!" Pah i thought....i'd bloody show her!!! Anyway, this reviews about a curry cooker, not my blokes blinkin mother..... ***THE DESIGN*** Yes it's another slow cooker, but it's a good looking, different one at least.....A mattt black "bowl" with shiny purple edges, handles and setting knob, with the usual clear, glass lid. Saying it looks good is one thing, but i'd love to find someone who has a kitchen this would actually look good in!! It's not the biggest slow cooker, so easy to store, and not an eyesore when being used....it doesn't get in your way. The actual size is 28h x 27d x 28w cm. The actual capacity of the cooker is 3.5L, which suprisingly holds a fair bit. I only filled half of it, cooking for 3! Like a litle tardis bless! ***HOW DOES IT WORK?*** So simple even i managed to use it....Quite simply plug the slow cooker into the wall, you cook the sauce of whatever it is your making (I made Chilli pepper chicken) then place in the slow cooker, with the uncooked meat, and let it simmer for how ever long is needed....for my pepper chicken it took about 3 hours on the high setting. ...

Everything that starts with D ... 02/01/2007

Day in the life of....A cat!!!

Everything that starts with D ... My name is Dave, and he's called Clive. I'm a year and a half old, and soon Clive will be a year old. We live with our mummy, and our stupid daddy, in a lovely little snuggly house. This is what we do every day. When i wake up in the morning i often forget where i am. I mean it's easy to forget i'm on top of a wardrobe, so it's easy to fall off. When i land on the ground daddy stirs, but by now he ignores me because he knows I'm just getting myself up. I have a stretch and a yawn, and look around for my horrible little brother. Yet again, the little suck up is led on the bed all cutched up with mummy. Ha! I'll soon wake him up. I start to try and trap his horrible little ginger tail. This always annoys him, so he trys to chase me around the house! He'll be lucky. He's half the size of me so i always win our little scraps. He's brave though.....Clive will still give it his best shot. We get fed up after a while, and get hungry. We both go upstairs to wake up mummy and daddy. They are so lazy but we know the best way to get them up.....there's noting like team work. I go and position myself at the end of the bed, whilst Clive gets in position on the bedside table. 1....2.....3.. I jump up and claw any horrible little toes that are poking out from the duvet....Daddy tries to kick me....i'll try mummy...Clive is already hard at work on her. He just sits there "skwaking" at her, staring in her face.....i jump again. Oh yes, that was a good one, mummy yelled! I don't mind she's ...

Gucci Envy Me 2 Eau de Toilette for Her 30/12/2006

Santa got it right!

Gucci Envy Me 2 Eau de Toilette for Her Okay, so here goes, first of many "what i got for christmas" reviews. To be honest thought i would do this one first, because it was one of the ones i loved! I first smelt this scent on the way back from Greece in October! Being stranded there, with our flight delayed 5 hours, i had plenty of time to go and sniff out the perfumes. Didn't buy it at the time, because i had many others that needed "using up". Anyway, luckily santa must have thought i had been a good gal this year, as it was in my stocking!! Yay how great is that!!! ***THE PACKAGING*** This scent comes in a very attractive, classy looking box. It's a kind of mint colour, with the gucci logo embossed all over the box. On the box itself, it has Gucci envy 2 written in silver with the Me in pink! It really is a good looking box! Very eye catching, and the mint is just a lovely "different" colour making it stand out from your pale, or garish boxes. The bottle itself, also continues with the mint colour, although not quite as strong. The lid to the bottle has the same design and lettering as the box. ***THE SMELL*** This smell is gorgeous, so gorgeous that i think i may have to stock up before it comes of the shelf (It's a limited addition!! NOOOO!!!) It is an extremely light and very fresh smell. Extremely refreshing. It's not sickly or sweet in any way which makes a nice change. A fantastic scent for both the day or evening, but if you do like something a bit heavier when you are going out then i ...

Benefit Moon Beam 22/12/2006

Beaming with benefit?

Benefit Moon Beam I've always loved benefit products and make up. Yes it's expensive but there is something about their stuff that just makes you feel good when your wearing it!! The benefit moon shine i've been using since this summer. Simple reason why i picked it up....i wanted a nice, good quality product to use on my face to enhance that gorgeous summer tan!! ***THE PACKAGING*** The moon shine, comes in a small cardboard "tan coloured" box, with benefit moon shine written in bold. Not the most attractive looking packaging in the world, and it certainly doesn't stand out in a crowd. Not the usual, colourful packing that you come to expect from benefit thats for sure!! Inside the box is a small, clear glass jar containing the moon apricot coloured shine liquid, with a black lid/brush. I would go as far to say that it does look extremely boring! Even though it's not appealing to look at, even by touch it feels like more expensive better quality materials are used than with your "bog standard" products. ***APPLICATION*** This product is so simple and easy to use, i think even a toddler could do it! Not that you want to be encouraging make up usage at that age!! Anyway, back to the point, the product is also extremely "clean" to use. The liquid is fairly thick so you don't find it running everywhere! To apply the moon shine liquid, you simply unscrew the lid, pull of the lid, and apply the liquid with the lid/brush to the areas you feel the need to add a bit of shimmer too! Simple ...

Chicago Town Cheese Deep Pan Pizzas 21/12/2006

why do you want to make me fat!

Chicago Town Cheese Deep Pan Pizzas I think that these things should come with a government warning...."Excessive consumption will make you fat" Jeez these things are so unhealthy for you, yet soooo addictive, that you can easily forget what you are putting into your mouth! Infact i do my best to forget all about the unhealthiness of these things when i'm munching on them, and just enjoy taking in the flavour!! Mmmmmmm. Now i am a great pizza lover, and have been eating these chicago town pizzas since feb (started as a craving!!!) and believe me i have eaten alot!! The problem is with these is that i don't think you could find a more unhealthy pizza!! The other problem being that i myself eat them far too regulary, and when i do eat them, i make a fat b*stard of myself and eat them both!!!! ***THE PACKAGING*** Well it's your simple, normal cardboard box. Very colouful (main colour being red) and very appealing, with a picture of a lovely cheesy pizza on the front (the actual cooked pizza, if done correctly doesn't look that much different!!!) Then of course there is the chicago town logo above the title of Deep dish triple cheese pizzas...yum yum. Inside the box there are two induvidual pizzas wrapped in clear plastic. There you are your average frozen food box!!! ***HOW TO COOK*** Now these little "make me fat" loverrrlliieers can be cooked in 2 ways. The first way, cooked in the oven, is by far the best option. To cook in the oven simply unwrap and place directly oto the oven shelf in a preheated ...

Lacoste Touch of Pink Eau de Toilette 19/12/2006

Feeling pink...

Lacoste Touch of Pink Eau de Toilette i've been using Lacoste touch of pink for over a year now....it has become a firm favorite, and has replaced my previous perfumes well!! What first got my attention with this one, to tempt me away from my previous firm faves......well to put it simply, i got bought it as a gift, loved the smell so continued to use it!! ***THE DESIGN*** Touch of pink comes in a lovely vivid pink box, and the actual bottle is coloured pink....well pink at the bottom, gradually getting lighter until clear at the top! Oh and of course there is the well known Lacoste logo on both the box and the bottle!!! It is a lovely vivid, bright girly design, that looks good there on your shelf!! ***THE SMELL*** The best way i can describe this scent, is that it is a light "sweet" smell. Not sickly sweet, it's just a subtle sweetness. It's a very light fragrance, not heavy at all, which makes it the perfect scent for general day use. Also really good if you don't want to choke everybody when walking into a room! ***DOES IT LAST?*** As i might mentioned this is a very subtle fragrance. Therefore you'll find that when you do put it on, you get the initial strong blast, but pretty soon after you cannot smell it on yourself at all. I used to get worried about this thinking that it must have gone and not lasted at all. But i can say that it does last all day.....i have often got comments from people i've been sat next to at work or even when having a cuddle with t'other half when i've got in from ...

Birds Eye Fish Fingers 16/12/2006

My fishy little friends!

Birds Eye Fish Fingers MMMMM....well last night i couldn't be arsed to cook, (and as i've said many a time before i can't actually cook) so decided to rumage the freezer for something quick to munch on and low and behold, at the bottom, wedged between a half eaten pot of ben and jerrys, and a couple of Yorkshires that had manged to escape i found these little lovelies. Now it's been a long time since i've eaten Fish fingers, and for some reason just really fancied them once i saw the box!!! I'm glad i did, because it has relighted my love of them, and to be perfectly honest brought back many a memory of school dinners, and living on fish finger sarnies when living in a flat with 2 other gals!!! (Spent all our money on going out at the time!!!) ***THE PACKAGING*** Well the packaging is your fairly average freezer food design. A Cardboard box (duh!) picturing perfectly cooked fish finger, on a background of a lovely stricking blue!! Ahh very bretty!! Oh and of course the best bit....a picture of Captin Birds eye!! Corr he looks so jolly!! Proud of his little fish fingers bless him!! (Although if you turn the box round and look on the back, the actual photo of a real captain birds eye doesn't look too jolly!!!) The box contains 8 fish fingers, left loose. Anyway it's alright as far as boxes go!!! ***HOW TO COOK*** It couldn't be easier!! A few options to consider, but i find it best to just pop in the oven (at 230c ) for 20 mins (although if you have a fan assisted oven, they do not need ...

Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara 14/12/2006

Sexy eyes alert!!

Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara my quest for the perfect mascara?! Well you'll all be pleased to know that i've very nearly cracked it....very nearly!! Just thought i'd write a review about this un, then i'm i can crack on and try some of the v helpful suggestions i've had from many of you!! Now the reason i thought i'd try this one, is because i was in superdrug, one VERY busy night, and just picked the nearest one to hand....i just couldn't be arsed with all the heave ho in the shop!!! So to start of it must be eye catching, as i grabbed it straight of the shelf ( yes i know it was mostly out of desperation) instead of the many others around!! Anyway it turns out it's a max factor masterpiece!!! hmmm!! ***LOOKS*** Well as i said above, it is eye catching, although not in an obvious way!! It's a classy looking mascara, with a stylish sleek design. Infact it is different to many gold coloured mascaras out there, being that the mascara is coated in a clear "tube", making slightly edgey yet still classic looking. ***THE WAND/BRUSH*** The brush is not your usual "fluffy" culprit....the best way to describe it would probably be a rounded short toothed comb!! I've tried other "comb" products before, and to be honest , not really got on with them. They are stiff "bistles" although fairlt flexible at the same time! All in all, the brush makes application extremely easy!!! ***THE EFFECTS*** Well i have got to say....i am very impressed with the effects. The product promises to deliver superb ...

What's in my bag? 08/12/2006

handbags at dawn!!

What's in my bag? well, having my usual wander around ciao, i came across this and though "why not" I'm bored so this might keeo me entertained for a while, and doesn't require too much brain power (good job as mine has officially left home!) Anyway might keep me entertained, don't know about you lot though!! My current bag (todays bag) is a lovely little green number (don't puke....it went with my dress for work!) from......oh yeah, per una!! Now before i go any further i must let you know that i have soooo many bags it's ridiculus, and because of the frequency of change, they do tend to collect alot of crap!!! So if this goes on, im sorry but i'm being truthfull.....so here goes 1- My diary...well the first one...2006...it's a black , slimline day to page one from WHSmiths. It's very tattered (been a busy year!) and is full of appointments, meetings, random telephone numbers, and even more random rendevouz!!!! I'd be lost without it....brain like a sieve!! 2 - My second diary...2007...again this is from WHsmith, but this time it's a pink one, think it's a breast cancer awareness special doofa...not too full yet, although it has got the new shift rota in there for work....blinkin plonkers!! More late shifts than ever, and most of mine seem to be on a friday!! How lovely!! 3 - Purse...suppose this is quite an important one!! A lovely brown number from next....at the moment it's got £250 in notes (towards xmas shopping!), and £4.93 in change (i had a KFC today!!Mmmm) It contains plenty ...

Peep Show (DVD) 07/12/2006

take a peep

Peep Show (DVD) ok, so if you've read my Alan Partridge reviews, you will probably have guessed that i like my mindless, totally stupid, random comedys. Well heres another one that i like to plonk myself in front of every once in a while!! Peep show is the fantastic series, from channel 4, basically about two blokes living together and their day to day lives, which basically involves taking the p*ss out of each other, and just doing really stupid things, and being totally socially dysfunctional! Like i said it's mindless comedy, but it is hillarious, especially as the viewer is taken through every emotion and thought of the two characters, Jez, the pop star wanabe, a total slob, and Mark, the very bored office worker, who quite frankly seems to be a bit of a nerd!! It's not an obvious comedy, but once you get it, it works!!! ***THE CAST*** - Jeremy or Jez is played by Robert Webb (don't know what it is and call me mad if you wish, but there is something very mmmmm about him!!!) - Mark is played by the fantastic David Mitchell, He plays Mark down to a t, maybe because he does look so nerdy, and quite frankly wierd!! - Love of Marks life, sophie - Olivia Coleman - Super Hans, An idol to Jez - Matt King - Geoff, Marks rival in the office - Neil Fitzmaurice They are the main ones anyway, and i've got to say all brilliant characters!! ***EPISODE 1*** well obviously we are introduced to the fab characters, and what an introduction. Mark is reading "the battl of starlingard" and ...

Bourjois Maxi frange mascara 01/12/2006

Boring Bourjois?!

Bourjois Maxi frange mascara Okay so my quest for the perfect mascara continues on and on, and is actually turning into a rather expensive habbit, with new ones being bought and tested weekly....for those of you who wish to know, i've still no joy!!! Maybe i'm too fussy!!! Anyway i'm not here to ramble on, just to tell you what i found with the Bourjois maxi Frange (waterproof) mascara!! Now i love most Bourjois products, always great stuff and a fab range, but when i started using this mascara i was quite disappointed!!! ***THE DESIGN*** The one i bought has a different design to the one shown in the pic....more attractive and "Bourjois like" actually. It's a fairly chunky mascara, with two ends (filled with two different types/colours of mascara) with the middle being the brushes for either "pot" The colour of the mascara is a mainly a lovely striking blue, with pretty little flowers!! Bit different from the non waterproof variety as shown. ***THE 1ST POT/STEP 1*** This pot contains the "first" mascara....it's a creamy coloured liquid and is designed to lengthen your lashes and coat them with a kind of special silkiness, well to be more precise, potein to help strengthen your lashes!!! Well i can't deny, it did feel very luxerious and silky when putting it on!! As for the length, it did give a fair bit of length to my lashes, but not nearly enough as i would of liked. To apply this first mascara the brush is more of comb. It's actually very handy and does ensure that all of your lashes gets ...

The Forest of Dean 26/11/2006

Magical forests

The Forest of Dean The stunning forest of dean covers a vast area......as the name suggests it's plenty of ancient woodland with villages and towns dotted inbetween. In fact it covers over 100 square kilometers, and touches upon various counties such as herefordshie, gloucestershire and the borders of wales (the wye valley) Its about 25 mins west of Bristol. Yes so close, but it's like another world entirely.......now buckle up people because this is going to be a very lenghty review.....i'm in love with the place, and by the end of this review hopefully i'll have given you all enough reason and enticement to come dip a toe in my waters!!! ****ABOUT THE FOREST OF DEAN**** The forest of dean is one of the few remaining ancient woodlands remaining in the UK. It was designate as a national forest park in 1983, and is known as "the queens of forests all". Sounds a bit strange but it is oh so true!!! It is a truely magical forest spanning over 100s of acres. I am a lucky person to be able to live in a place packed to the brim with extrordinary wildlife, jaw-drooping views, and packed full of nature. It is an absoloute awe-inspiring place, a joy to live in with strong communities and great emphasis on "keeping it local", and plenty of attractions to pull in the visitors throughout the year, time and time again. ****THE HISTORY**** Well i had to do me a little bit of research here to refresh my memory. As i live in the forest it's common practice to learn about it's history and know all ...
