Pantene Pro V Normal Hair Shampoo 01/07/2002

A Slick Shampoo

Pantene Pro V Normal Hair Shampoo When you use Pantene Pro-V shampoo you can really feel the difference it makes to your hair, unlike any other brand before this. It has really made a difference to my hair. My hair is very thick and quite long and has a mind of its own. Without doubt, after using Pantene Pro-V my hair has become more manageable and less fly-away. It has an amazing softening effect which you can feel immediately after using it for the first time. Prior to this I was using the Nicky Clark range of hair care products but since I discovered Pantene Pro-V, I haven't used anything else. I guess I have used it for 2 years now. In between I did try other brands but they really dont' work as well as this shampoo. It is best used with its own conditioner, another good product. Both come in 200ml bottles and 500ml ones. The price for the shampoo is slightly above the average but its well worth the price ...

Everyman Café, Liverpool 01/07/2002

A good place for lunch

Everyman Café, Liverpool The Everyman Cafe is a wonderful place to go to if you happen to find yourself in Liverpool. It is in my opinion one of the best places you can go to if you are looking for a light lunch with delectable desserts. The Everyman cafe, which is part of the Everyman Theatre operates from its basement lot at the corner of Hope Street facing Mount Pleasant, which is essentially located close to the University of Liverpool. It is an excellent, value-for-money place which offers its patrons amongst others, a wide choice of salads, baked potatoes, curries, pies and others light meals as well as marvellous desserts such as meringue, chocolate cake, berries mousse and other mouth watering temptations. The prices are very reasonable. The only drawback to eating here is the fight to get a table, as it is nearly always packed during the lunch hour. However, the food is definitely worth the wait. The food is served at the counter and patrons will have to choose and pay for their food in advance.

The Body Shop Illuminating Supplement 13/05/2002

Body Shop Illuminating Supplement

The Body Shop Illuminating Supplement If you are looking for an AHA type product that is not too rich or harsh then,I think, the Illuminating supplement is a good substitute. It is suitable for all skin types and works to brighten the skin by gently exfoliating the deadskin cells accordingto the label on the bottle. I was told that it helps to lighten pigmentation on the skin and give it a more evn skin tone. Having tried this, I found the texture, which is almost like water to be suitable for my skin. It does make the face feel slightly taut and fresh after putting it on, unlike other products which give you a sticky feeling. Thats is the best part about this product. It contains glycolic acid, mulberry bark and coix seed extracts and panthenol to help moisturise. Oh and it is also suitable for those with sensitive skin. Costs around 10pounds and comes in a handy pump dispenser 50ml glass bottle.

Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Splash Away Foaming Cleanser 13/05/2002

Estee Lauder Splash Away Foaming Cleanser

Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Splash Away Foaming Cleanser Estee Lauder is one of the counter brands that I regularly use and I have tried many of their various products. The Splash Away foaming cleanser is a product that I would recommend to those with oily and normal or combination skin. It may be a little drying for those with dry skin but still good for the occasional wash. Alas, I fall into this latter category and therefore I restrict myself to using it once a week only and using a lotion cleanser at other times. However it is still a good product which you can really see the results after a wash. The foam is quite gentle and does not over lather (which is a good sign in my opinion). It is suitable to clean make up or just an oily face. I cannot comment on the price as I got this one free but I'm sure it's worth the money.

The Body Shop Hydration Moisturiser 13/05/2002

Body Shop Hydrating Moisture Lotion 3

The Body Shop Hydration Moisturiser I had a little rash on my face a few weeks back and tried to find a moisturiser that was not too rich and good for sensitive skin. The problem with sensitive skin products is that often they don't do much because almost nothing is added to them. However after much chatting with the Body shop assistant, I decided to try the Hydrating Moisture Lotion No 3 which is for normal to dry skin. This product comes in a handy 50ml size as well as a 200mml one, both with a pump dispenser to avoid contamination. Now, I can tell you that this moisturiser is the perfect option for those looking to hydrate their skin without putting on something too rich. The texture is just right, not too runny and you can really feel the hydrating effect the minute you put it on your freshly cleaned face. It is not too rich and yet it works effectively. It comes highly recommended by me especially if your face is a little dry in parts like mine. It cost me the equivalent of Stg 7.50pounds, a little expensive maybe for a 50ml, but is works so that's what counts. ...

Palmolive Shower Gel Active 01/01/2002

Very Good Indeed

Palmolive Shower Gel Active Palmolive Active shower gel is a very delightful warm brown gel which lathers very well and leaves a soft silky feel on your body. It comes nicely packaged and is dead easy to use. The smell is long lasting and has a soft sweetness about it. I was once asked by someone what perfume I was wearing, not realising that it was the shower gel. Only when the person stepped into my bathroom did they discover it was the palmolive shower gel. That definitely tells you that the product's smell lasts and is nice smelling as well. I'm not sure about the packaging in all countries, but here in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia it comes in two sizes, a 200ml and a 500ml plastic container. It is reasonably priced and is value for money as it always has some promotional item such as a mini shower gel or deodorant that is given away free together with it.

John West Pink Salmon 08/12/2001

John West is the Best

John West Pink Salmon John West, part of the large Anglo-Dutch conglomerate,Unilever,a company whose foundations were in Liverpool-so it is appropriate that John West is also in Liverpool, make fine tinned products. Among popular items are tuna in various forms, pink salmon ,red salmon, mackerel and various processed meat products. My particular favourite is John West Pink Salmon which when I was student at Liverpool U was a regular in my shopping basket. Since I entered employment I have also enjoyed John West Red Salmon but in my heady days as a student my budgetary constraints ruled that choice out. John West Pink salmon comes in various szes but the most popular seems to be the 250 gr version which currently retails at around 1.30 pounds and is easily found on the canned goods shelves of most supermarkets as well as neighbourhood grocery shops. The product is excellent. I add pink salmon to salads, make salmon potato cakes, and fimd a salmon sandwich with a splodge of mayonnaise is very enjoyable. I have also used it as a pizza topping and the end rsult too has been first class,if I might modestly say so.Compared to tuna it is nicer and I do believe it is worth paying a little extra to enjoy some of the "Queen of Fish"

Estee Lauder Resilience Lift 10/11/2001

Eye Creme

Estee Lauder Resilience Lift I had been searching for years now for a good eye treatment cream or gel with little success. Thank goodness I found Estee Lauder's Resilience Lift eye creme, it has made the world of difference to my eyes. I remember trying other brands of gels and creams, most did nothing and others even made my eyes puffy, so I was thankful that only last month I was introduced to this product by the counter staff of Estee Lauder. It is essentially suitable for drier skin and those who are maybe 26 and above or thereabouts. It is supposed to provide a toning effect for those sagging eyelids as well as hydrating the dry areas. For me it has definitely toned down the effects of the fine lines and gives a more smooth look which does not look creased when you apply powder or foundation. It cost around RM158 or 26pounds, a little pricey but worth it definitely.

Estee Lauder White Linen Eau de Parfum 10/11/2001

Still a favourite

Estee Lauder White Linen Eau de Parfum One of my favourite colours is white and so it would be hard to not try using Estee Lauder's White Linen perfume, especially when I do actually wear a lot of white line shirts to work. Anyway, what I like about this scent is the clean crisp smell that you would expect from a perfume such named. Personally though I would prefer it if they played down the smell slightly and made it slightly lighter, closer to the clean smell of freshly laundered sheets. Actually it one of the few perfumes that I know where a wide range of women both young and old share a liking for the smell. I know a 60 year olad and a 21 year old who both use and like it, I guess that makes it a classic.

The Body Shop Twist & Blush 10/11/2001

Twist and Blush

The Body Shop Twist & Blush Ever since Body Shop introduced their twist and blush range of blushers, at least 5 years ago, I have not used anything else since, I swear! This is the most innovative thing that has happened to he blusher. It is a stick blush, where the blusher is compacted to the end of the cap holder, so when you need to use it all you have to do is twist it slightly and pull it out. The brush can also be twisted so that it can be kept bristle free when it is in its cap holder. It basically looks like a magic marker. I don't know why anyone would want to mes about with the cased ones because those break easily if you drop them, whereas this one stays in its holder no matter what. The Body shop range come in three colours, a pink, red and orange tone. Last I bought it it was priced at 4.95 pounds. But the refill is 3.95 pounds so you save a little that way.

Bath Foam 10/11/2001

Palmolive Milk and Honey Bath Cream

Bath Foam I am very, very, fussy about shower and bath creams as my skin tends to be rather dry and at times sensitive. I have tried many , many bath creams or foams and found very few to be satisfactory at retaining the skin's moisture. However with Palmolive's Milk and Honey bath & creme, (for extra dry skin) I have found a product that truly moisturises the skin. I recommend anyone with dry skin to give it a try. I guarantee you will be pleased with the results. It has a very rich creamy texture, the colour of banana milk shake and smells simply gorgeous, you almost wish it was a milk shake. Apparently it contains natural extracts of milk and honey and not just artificial additives. It is best to use with a sponge or bath mitt as it tends to be very slippery on your hands. Also the bottle design could be better, as the hole at the top tends to pour out too much at one time, meaning you end up wasting quite a bit sometimes. ...

Old Compton Street Soho, London 13/09/2001

A Fascinating Street

Old Compton Street Soho, London I dont know about you but one of my favourite areas of London is Soho. This cosmopolitan district has something for everyone. It houses some of the best restaurants in the West End,some congenial and popular pubs like the French House, and some very attractive little shops. Some of London's best coffee houses are also located in this raunchy bit of London. In the heart of Soho, Old Compton Street,is a thoroughly interesting street. It has a number of good restaurants covering a wide range of cuisines and straddling very different price levels. There is a branch of the Stockpot here where you could certainly tuck into a good lunch for a fiver;equally there are up market French and Italian eateries wjich would set you back several times that amount. Old Compton Street also has one or two clubs and several coffee bars. Unfortunately I cannot remember the names but I remember I had a wonderful cup of cappucchino in one of them and a delightful pastry. Originally there were quite a number of Italian families in Old Compton Street and the street still has a very cosmopolitan feel about it. It is very lively, vibrant, and never ever dull.

Hull in General 19/07/2001

Hull is Allright

Hull in General Although I was born in London,my parents moved to Hull when I was just two weeks old. I cant remember much of the journey north-I suppose I was just a wee bit too young. However, I spent the next six years living in Kingston-Upon-Hull and my first primary school was Wold Road Primary School in the west of the City. Since leaving Hull I have been back three times and have enjoyed my visits tremendously. Contrary to popular opinion Hull is by no means a bad city. Its housing stock is good, there are some excellent parks, a good shopping centre and there are a number of good restaurants in town. The sports scene is not too bad either with Rugby League, pro Soccer and Cricket, all popular sports. I was offered a place at Hull University but finally ended up across the other side of the country at Liverpool University. What I like most about dear old Hull are its very friendly people. My father and mother still have good friends in the city although they left it 25 years ago. My Mother,in particular, regards Hull as her second home and is so Pro Yorkshire it isnt true, Another wonderful memory of Hull that I have is fish and chips. When we lived there I am sure there must have been upwards of a 100 fish n 'chip shops. The prices, compared to my late grandmother's home town in the South, were and ,I believe, still are incredibly cheap. I was also introduced to Fisn, Chips and Curry Sauce in Hull and again havent come across that in the South.

Liverpool University 19/07/2001

Liverpool University is A great Place

Liverpool University I chose to read poltical science at Liverpool mainly on account of advice I received at my college in Malaysia and from my father, who was formerly an academic. Both the College staff and my father told me that the University had an excellent academic reputation and was renowned as a friendly place. The city also is very well known outside of Britain and is I guess best known after London. They were both reliable sources of information. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the U and found that academic standards were very high, The vast majority of the lecturers were helpful, knowlegeable, and interacted well with students. The student accommodation=I stayed in Mulberry Court and Tudor Court-was very good, the bedroom was comfortable and the communal kitchen well equipped. The campus is just off the city centre and so convenient for shops, eateries in Hardman Street and that wonderful Everyman Bistro in Hope Street. Another great restaurant that I relished going to when I had some money was El Machos. Sports facilities at Liverpool are very good indeed. I lived practically next door to the swimming pool. The Student Union is huge and the bookshop is fine. I loved Liverpool as a place,it is a marvellous city for students. Cheap, friendly, lively, and some of the architecture is quite stunning. I have no hesitation in recommending the University of Liverpool as a great place to study in! ...
