Potentially a very boring opinion

Advantages: The people at the test centre make you feel like a criminal (always wanted to know what that was like)
Disadvantages: Being forced to fill out all the fields above even though they are utterly pointless

Miss Dutton-Taylor sat before me sporting her unusually large chin and attempting to intimidate me with disapproving looks. As she shook her head in disgust hypnotically swaying her Jimmy Hill/ Bruce Forsyth sized body part, I stifled a giggle that did not go unnoticed. It was at this point that I was advised not to return to Allerton Grange High to retake my A-levels and further to this, it was suggested that I take up a career in refuse collection ...
...of another educational establishment.

I really didn’t understand such sternness. Yes, I fell asleep during my Economics exam and was the only person in the hall, woken with a start by the enraged moderator with the paper stuck to my face. Yes, I decided to not read the questions in my English Literature exam and instead scribbled nonsensical quotes on the page from various sources that were more from episodes of ‘Blackadder’ ... more

Question 1 - Oh Sheet

Advantages: Makes sure you're safe!
Disadvantages: Tests!!!

The driving theory test was introduced in July 1996 in an attempt to make Britain's road users safer. Anyone who wanted to drive or ride a motorised vehicle must complete a theory test in the appropriate catagory before they could sit their practical test. Well this is true for cars anyway. For me, turning 17 in May I saw a nice fat cheque from my dad who strictly said that it was for driving lessons only. Fair enough. I cashed it in then started ...
...beat my brother (and all my friends at college) who passed first time their theory and practical test. I eventually found BSM who aren't the cheapest - but an opinion on them will follow once I've got my full driving licence. Sometime later after a series of driving lessons, I eventually managed to get myself to book a theory test. Just incase you want to know, to book a driving theory test you can simply call 0870 0101 372 or get an application ...

Mind that hazardous chicken!

Advantages: I Can Help You To Prepare!
Disadvantages: It's just going to get harder and harder and harder.....

Now, before you tell me how easy the theory test is supposed to be, times have changed. The theory test is now unbelievably daunting and composed not of a straightforward written test, but a complex touchscreen multiple choice exam and fourteen – yes, fourteen – different hazard perception video clips which require you to spot numerous ‘developing hazards’ and respond on a computer screen at exactly the right second. Once upon a time, when all those ...
...failing this took it, they actually used pen and paper. It was a nice n’ easy at your own pace multiple choice sheet. I have searched high and low for a comprehensive guide on the modern one and it doesn’t seem to exist online; so here it is, for the benefit of all those who wish to pass. ***************** ********** ********* ****************** How do you book your theory test? I always hoped to find an instructor who did this kind of thing for ...

Theory Tests - Hazard Perception

Advantages: Can't think of any
Disadvantages: expensive, time consuming (or is that a waste of time?), everything basically

THE PROCESS If you are going to be taking your theory test soon or are thinking about taking it here's some things you should know (although you will be told all of this beforehand anyway by the DSA and the centre where you take the test). Firstly, to book a test you can phone 0870 010 1372, or by post using a DSA form (I presume you can get this from your driving instructor or a post office), you can also book online at www.dsa.gov.uk which is ...
...Theory Test, then book a test, you'll be asked for your surname, date of birth and driving licence number, next you are asked to type in your post code a number of centres will come up and you pick the one you want to use, you can then choose a preferred date for your test or for one as soon as possible, the dates and times available will appear and you click on one of these, you will be then asked for details such as your name and address, then ...

Passing the theory test -Without books

Advantages: It works for me i passed
Disadvantages: Boring and repetitive

...range of mock tests and member advice which definatly helped me. I also read about a book called - a girls guide to loosing her l plates, i tried to buy it but it was out of stock, but apparently its excellent - look it up. So i got all i needed to know by doing online tests over and over and over and it did the trick, i still know all the answers if i seen them, and i passed the theory first go. i got 34/35 and on the hazard perception i passed ...
...head what i got. On the day of my theory test, i didnt tell a soul, and it made a big difference, cause if u fail, it means you dont have to give anyone the bad news, but i was lucky i passed first time, and i told 90% of my phone book in my mobile. It was a big step for me. and 1 year later i passed my practical, so i have finally got the hard part over... the only problem is now.... will i ever afford a car :( Good luck to those doing your theory, ...

LGV Theory Test and Hazard Perception

Advantages: Ensures you have some required knowledge.
Disadvantages: Hazard perception test is a joke and unrealistic.

My feelings mirror those above. I have been driving for ten years on a normal licence, never had an accident and never had any points, I was taking the LGV theory test. I scored 60/60 on the theory part and then failed the hazard perception. I know I didn't miss any, they're simply to obvious for that but still scored a zero on at least one. I fail to understand how a computer can know the reason for a human clicking a mouse button. The person ...
...numerous hazards and reacted much later than I would while driving, examples include sheep in the road and the police officer who flags a motorcyclist down. There is no way that either could be reacted to too early. Both were clear hazards and on both occasions I clicked many seconds before the video driver reacted at all. It is of course impossible to measure correctly whether a person has clicked 'too early' - clearly being overperceptive while ...
