I would just like to write a review onquick reviews, something I am sure that many of have actually come across but have not written (or at least not that we would care to admit to though in any case). I am not in any way in favour of these, and I would just like to give my reasons as to why this so please listen.

In terms of being in favour of writing a quick review, it does exactly what it says on the tin - it is quick, and therefore is not as time consuming as writing a full on review. And yes, it does also get you a quick point or two - but in my own opinion, writing a quick review is not enough as we shall see now.

In my own mind, I have got this notion that Ciao is all about trying to encourage others in to using a product by writing a good review that people think that that product/ item/ service etc is the greatest thing since sliced bread; instant coffee, and Eastenders. But in order for that to happen, surely the review needs to be as water tight as an Isle of Man ferry! But how can you do that, if all that you write is a quick review?

I admit that some of my own reviews are not the best on here, but I do always just like to think that I cover enough for the reader to be able to make an informed choice as to whether they wish to continue further with what I am reviewing. I don't know how the rest of you plan your reviews (OK perhaps I do as I have been on here for a while but you know what I mean), but I use two ways:

1. I write as much as can in my review on the subject matter, then I give my own thoughts at the end.
2. But if it is say a shop, then I take all the different areas in turn; write on them, and then give my own thoughts on that particular area before I go on.

So moving on, what I am trying to say is that by writing a quick review all that you can do is just to basically tell the reader what the product is and then it is finished! How can an individual make a good decision on a product etc, if there is nothing to help them in making that decision? As already noted, as much detail along with the personal views of the writer are essential to making a goodo review - yes, the reader may not always agree with what is being said but the whole purpose of writing a review is to allow people to give their own point of view.

And so to conclude, in my own opinion I feel that quick reviews are not the way to go. If I were to read a review on a product to help me to decide as to whether I should buy it or no, then I would actually want one that tells me as much information as it possibly could do along with how another person found that product to be. Yes, they may have a different experience to me but that is life. My advice? Do a full review, rather than a quick one.

My first two reviews on this site were absolutely rubbish so I gave up. I came back after about 9 months and wrote a quick review which got the helpful thumbs up and it started me writing full reviews again.

I agree with the rest of the comments on this, so am not going to write a huge piece out here. It was a brilliant review. Kirsty x

Good review but I disagree! I'm obviously relatiely new on here and haven't written a quick review but think they can give an excellent pointer to a prospective buyer (as in is it good, would you buy it). Often that is all a buyer really wants-if I read a few positive quick reviews on a product that may be enough for me as long as they were genuinely helpful and didn't just describe it. Maybe this is controversial but there are many excellent pieces of writing that I actually believe ae useless to a genuine consumer (not a ciao user)-I know I wouldn't read thousands of words of review on something I was buying. I want it to get to the point quickly even if it doesn't touch on every small detail.
