I was looking for some CDR's to back up my hard drive now its full of important work. I went down to my local computer shop where they stocked a variety of brands. Chocie is important but not when your in a hurry so I decided to pick a brand I was familar with. I have heard of Memorex before and have purchase VHS' from them before and they worked fine. Going on previous expirences of memorex products I thought they would be O.K.
I brought the pack of CDR's for £19.99 for a pack of 25 which I thought was quite reasonable until I was told about online stores doing them for cheaper. The CDR's come on a spindel which is useful to keep the dust off them. Each CDR can hold 700mbs of data and 80 minutes of music. The spidel says that you can record up to 24x speed by my writer only does 4x. The spidel is made of black plastic and is pretty sterdy, it has a big gold and black 25 on the side indicating 25CDR's. The CDR's are also black and gold, the golsd bit is where you write the name of the CDR on. The gold and black combination makes a change from the normal silver front of a CDR and it looks cool.
When I got home I organised the files that I wanted to back up and placed a CDR into my re-writer drive. I clicked burn (this writes data onto the CDR) and within 20 minutes the CDR was completed and I had a backup of my precious work. I repeated the process twice more to finish my backup process and there were no problems, the CDR's worked fine.
About a month after the backup process my computer decided to turn evil. The computer had to be reset and I lost my hard drive. This was a pain but luckly I had backed up my important file. After reconfiguring the computer I proceeded to load my files onto the computer, and in my head I was thinking, 'don't let me down Memorex, don't you dare' and Memorex didn't let me down, all my files were there and I loaded them onto my computer, everything was fine again.
I have used the CDR's for more stuff recently and there has not been a single problem yet, every backup has been perfect.
You may now be thinking that Memorex CDR's are no different to other CDR's, well true, most of them, but in the past I have expirenced CDR's that refused to load and others that wouldn't be copied onto. My advice is go for a brand that you trust, I went for Memorex and I was not let down, so I suggest you do the same.
