Advantages: small, cheap, fast Disadvantages: gets hot, not as cheap as USB only modems
...So this is the device needed to get the ADSL line working but how well does it work?
Appearance
=
The first thing I noticed about this model is the colour of it. Its silver and this gives it a modern appeal. Its small and rather thin. It is only 2.8cm x 17.5cm x 11.8cm so makes it a compact modem.
It is also light and weights in at 600 grams. When the modem is switched on, it has yello LEDs that light up to show if the power is on, USB, ethernet and if the ADSL line is there.
System Requirements
* ADSL Internet service from BT and your chosen ISP. I use Nildram.
* Ethernet (netowrk) or USB connection on your PC
* Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP, Mac
* Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape 4.7 or better - Tthis is so you can access the configuration menu.
Box Contents
* DM602...

Advantages: Facilities, easy set up, lights(!), stability Disadvantages: Some backwards compatibility issues, lack of web executable filtering
...The Netgear DG834PN is the latest version of the DG834 and combines an ADSLmodem with a wireless router and 4 port switch. In plain English, this plugs in your phone socket and allows one or more PCs to share the connection via either a wired or wireless link.
The modem part is ADSL2+ ready and should work with even the fastest ISP offerings out there which as at Dec 2006 are around 12mbps in the UK. The setup wizard worked flawlessly and apart from the username and password, worked everything else out for itself and had the DG834PN up and running in a couple of minutes.
As with most similar devices, further configuration is done via a web interface. The wireless section supports 802.11b and 802.11g as well as Netgear's own 802.11 Super G variant offering 108Mbps. The unit features 6 internal Antennas which constantly reconfigure...

Advantages: STYLISH AND EXTREMELY EASY TO SET UP! Disadvantages: COMES WITH RUBBISH DOWNLOAD SPEEDS!
...After having purchased four previous netgear routers i am still impressed with the seemless effort in which netgear have made there configurations. I believe after extensive searches this is a very good price for this bit of kit, some may say i am crazy but i have ADSL and DSL in my home and using two different wireless routers have found no problems yet. WGR614 highly recommended for the user of cable broadband and wanting to go wireless or use many pc's on the one connection.
GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE PRODUCT:
Signal strenth is very good!
VERY SMALL! fits in a little chest of draws in my hall nicely
LOOKS VERY STYLISH!
BAD THINGS ABOUT THE PRODUCT:
You get a TERRIBLE download speed with it!
WHERE CAN YOU BUY IT FROM?
You can buy it from shops like curry's and dixons
Or you can buy it on the internet Amazon would be a good place...
