Diamond review  What are you doing with one of those?!

Advantages: Build quality, economy, brand name!
Disadvantages: Rear seats cramped

I bought my Mercedes 190E late last year after my trusty and beloved Renault Megane had an altercation with the central reservation of a dual carriageway. Needless to say, the central reservation was victorious. As I was still paying for the Megane, and was only covered Third Party, Fire and Theft (D’oh!) I needed to find something cheap and reliable, not an easy task! After scouring the small ads in the local paper, I came across an ad for a 1991 ...
...this, as I had heard Mercedes were not known for excellent manual transmissions. This car failed to disappoint however, with gentle use of the clutch, you almost feel it is an auto, so smooth are the gear changes. The ride quality is like nothing else I have ever experienced. The engine is so smooth, and the suspension so accomplished, you almost feel as though you are floating on a cushion of air! The power steering makes manoeuvring and cornering ...

enjoyable drive of the merc190e 2ltre

Advantages: smooth relaxing ,enjoyable drive ,trustworthy
Disadvantages: is in the middle road tax band, for shorter journeys can be a bit juicier on petrol.

i've just sold on my merc 190e 2ltr much to my shame ,after all it was a lovely experience to drive,it was an old 1983 model but had all merc engine parts in which last a lifetime if always replaced with merc itself. it was a left hander but come on i'm a female and could drive it no problem in fact i loved driving it only replaced it as i needed the money at the time . it had a leather interior which was comfy, and a perfect body well what can u ...

Good experience with 190E 2.6

Advantages: Reliability, smooth and quiet, becoming a classic
Disadvantages: 6000 service interval

I have owned a 190E 2.6 manual for 13 years, from 45k miles to date at 230k miles. It has been a great car, the best I have owned in 40 years motoring. It is smooth and powerful to drive normally, but a bit of a handful on snow and ice - a bag of sand in the boot helps! It is quiet and relaxing on the motorway (2500rpm at 70mph in 5th). Economy is good for the engine size - I average around 28mpg and can get up to 38 on a motorway run. Reliability ...
...miles (originals were apparently wrong grade of steel). I have serviced and maintained the car myself and found it easy to work on. Parts readily and cheaply available from a nationwide after market parts supplier. Over the years have replaced exhaust, discs, some rear suspension struts, rear springs, front ball joints, coil and alternator. Oil has been changed regularly at 6000 miles. A few rust spots on cills and wheel arches have been easy to sort, ...

A Whopper of a Car

Advantages: Too many to mention here
Disadvantages: None

Taking a trip to work one day and saw this car in a forecourt and I just had to turn round and take another look. What a looker. It only took one half hour test drive and I knew this was the car for me. I'm not one for the boy-raser type car but this is kinda it anyhow, not one for the leather and all the bits but it came with it, can't say I'm that impressed by speed but it definately gooooeeeessss. So I bought it, four years ago now, with 80,000 ...
...still looks like its first registered, it goes like, em, well don't want to say really for fear of upsetting anyone and has anthin gone wrong in the four years, not a bit. I don't manage to drive it that often unfortunately but even when left idle on the drive for a couple of weeks, no problem gettin the baby started. Cheap car to run, no problems encountered so far and there's now nearly 120,000. This baby is only just run in. Will I get rid of ...

Advantages: great turning circle easy to repair and to run smooth ride tough car
