Mercedes 300 D

For the beginning a little of histories.
Mercedes Benz W124 (it's a body type) debuted in the end of 1984. Having replaced on conveyor model with index W123. Per 1993 has been lead restyling as a result of which appearance and interior, and also the name has a little changed: since this year Mercedes W124 began to be called as an E - class mersedes. This Mercedes was issued with four types of body: sedan, coupe, five-door station wagon and a cabriolet. Quality of assembly of a body is very high, as well as anticorrosive stability. The interior is executed in monumental, dateless style, finishing materials are of very high quality. One of engines offered for Mercedes W124 is 300 D (such as i have), it is reliable and at duly service is capable to spend a floor of one million kilometers. The car possesses the soft suspender, wich allowing to not pay attention to quality of a road carpet. Also the running gear possesses enviable reliability, very seldom delivering efforts to me. In general Mercedes 300 D is one of leaders of a second-hand business class in Lithuania.

One year ago I have buyed Mercedes Benz E - class with the diesel engine 300D. For all this last year I had not to repair it, not including certainly replacements of an oil in the motor, filters, brake blocks and..... Even in the winter when at us in Lithuania the air temperature has lowered up to -27 C, the machine was started from the first time.
Sitting in this car I feel very comfortably, there is a sensation that i'm driving a very big car. Still I can emphasize, that with this car is very easy to turn. Therefore despite of its dimensions it can easily maneuver in narrow streets.
At our university was the analysis about a technical condition of second hand cars. Mercedes Benz 300 D has borrowed 1 place among cars of E class. When at cars of other manufacturers significant breakages appeared already after 12-13 years, at a Mercedes only after 18-20 years.

Malfunctions which I have noticed in my car:
- after 12 years there are problems with a rear suspension;
- after 16 years appear problems with manual handbrake and a stearing column;
- one more defect that apears in most of this cars after 16-17 years is - the kilometer counter breaks.

Also as well as in many 300D engines, mine is absorbing the oil. In interior start to come unstuck various plastic parts . But it is trifles when i remember that my Mercedes is 18 years old.

In general Mercedes 300 D will approach everyone who wishes to possess the comfortable and reliable car with a three-beam star on a cowl, and only for amount of chash 3000 - 5000 EUR in Lithuania.
