so far so good
Advantages: comfortable, big, meets all our needs Disadvantages: none so far
i have had to give up my xj6 sport as my disabled wife can no longer fold herself low enough to get in, so we needed something bigger than her zafira motability car.
we have bought a 2003 ml 270 cdi 7 seater from an independent jaguar dealer in sussex
wow!! a great looking car in dark blue, not a mark on it, lovely to drive, has only done 53K, full service history. our german shephard can climb in easily although she prefers the comfortable back ... ...normally thinks a car is a box to travel from one place to another has fallen in love with it, especially with a soft seat cover to sit on. driving position gives a good elevated view of the road ahead
first problem, water hose to the headlight washer has leaked, this will require the removal of the front of the car to repair but that's fixable under warranty. the second problem, when the front wheel is jarred on a rough road there is a sound like ...

Mercedes A140
Advantages: Good Looking, Cheap, Safe, Easy to Drive Disadvantages: Suspension, Minor Inconveniences
The A140 is a great car to drive, the clutch is not too heavy, and generally has a laid back feel to it. The steering wheel is quite responsive making three point turns quite a doddle :) Boot space is great, however only when the rear seats are up or taken out, Then you have a really big boot that can fit all but the biggest and longest objects. Have the seats in place however and the boot space just isnt up to scratch. Its also great for parking, ... ...out of the back window is literally where your car ends. So you can get into pretty small spaces that would seem impossible for other cars. The ceiling is high up so it can accomodate the tallest or those with the most extreme hair styles :) It also provides incredible amounts of leg room for oth the front and back passengers :) Dislikes would be the location of the seat adjustment, the rear panel one seems a bit stiff and the seat heigh adjustment, ...

Riding the wind in a classic beauty.
Advantages: Convertable, classic, timeless beauty oh and its gorgeous. Disadvantages: Absolutely none what so ever.
...now taken my classic 1989 Mercedes 300 SL convertable out of the garage to drive around in the sun. She is dark blue ( a unique colour, I had the body restored two years agao and chose a dark metalic, pearl blue colour for her ), completely pristeen and with the roof down, simply gorgeous to look at. I have owned her for 10 years now and I have spent a lot of money having the body restored and various mechanical items rebuilt, like the auto gearbox, ... ...new, so whats it really like to drive a classic SL Merc?
Well, firstly, you have to remember that they are old cars and built very differently to cars today. My 300 SL, the baby of the range, still weighs in at over 1.5 tonnes and you feel the weight everytime you go around corners or have to stop very quickly. She has power steering, as you would expect, but rather than being full of feel and weight, like all modern cars, it feels somewhat disconnected ...

Mercedes A160 - All things, for all men
Advantages: Interior Space, Visibility, Excellent engine & transmission Disadvantages: Looks a bit like Camilla Parker-Bowles, head on.
...premium badge on the front. Mercedes Benz must be congratulated for having the male genitalia to design, and more importantly, develop a car for a niche that had not yet been carved from a market of euro-boxes and small hatchbacks. People know this is a Mercedes Benz, and they certainly know the price premium that the badge requests. What people don't know, however, is that a used A-Class can be picked up for little more than Renault Scenic money.
... ...is thanks to idea of Mercedes Benz to sandwich the engine and running gear below the level of the passengers. Interior space in the A-Class is absolutely astonishing, certainly, it's difficult to get your mind around the fact this car offers the space of a VW Passat in a body no longer than a Polo. Interior quality is perhaps a little to be desired, some models I've seen have an awful lot of wear and tear to the upholstery and dashboard. Things did ...

A-180 CDi Avantgarde SE 3dr
Advantages: Looks, size, build quality, driving position, economy, Disadvantages: Expensive, hard ride, front seats slightly lacking in lumbar support
...front tyres fitted by the Mercedes dealer next week. They quoted £94/tyre including VAT.
Further update August 2009: Mileage 26000 (low for age of car) and the service indicator finally said another service was required. This is only the second service. Booked in at 0.5 days notice. Cost of basic service just under £300. I had the brake fluid changed as a precaution as this wasn't included in the service. This was extra. Also had the wiper blades ... ...June. I use the headlamps as day running lights so this wasn't totally surprising. Both bulbs were easy to change. Cost from the Mercedes dealer was around £6 each. Still no faults or rattles. On a 120 mile motorway trip recently the average fuel consumption was just under 62 mpg. ...
