Riding the wind in a classic beauty.
Advantages: Convertable, classic, timeless beauty oh and its gorgeous. Disadvantages: Absolutely none what so ever.
...now taken my classic 1989 Mercedes 300 SL convertable out of the garage to drive around in the sun. She is dark blue ( a unique colour, I had the body restored two years agao and chose a dark metalic, pearl blue colour for her ), completely pristeen and with the roof down, simply gorgeous to look at. I have owned her for 10 years now and I have spent a lot of money having the body restored and various mechanical items rebuilt, like the auto gearbox, ... ...new, so whats it really like to drive a classic SL Merc?
Well, firstly, you have to remember that they are old cars and built very differently to cars today. My 300 SL, the baby of the range, still weighs in at over 1.5 tonnes and you feel the weight everytime you go around corners or have to stop very quickly. She has power steering, as you would expect, but rather than being full of feel and weight, like all modern cars, it feels somewhat disconnected ...

Mersedes 300 D - the car of my life !!!
Advantages: Very seldom breaking, and very soft, convenient car Disadvantages: In Lithuania the parts cost very much
...a little of histories. Mercedes Benz W124 (it's a body type) debuted in the end of 1984. Having replaced on conveyor model with index W123. Per 1993 has been lead restyling as a result of which appearance and interior, and also the name has a little changed: since this year Mercedes W124 began to be called as an E - class mersedes. This Mercedes was issued with four types of body: sedan, coupe, five-door station wagon and a cabriolet. Quality of ... ...One of engines offered for Mercedes W124 is 300 D (such as i have), it is reliable and at duly service is capable to spend a floor of one million kilometers. The car possesses the soft suspender, wich allowing to not pay attention to quality of a road carpet. Also the running gear possesses enviable reliability, very seldom delivering efforts to me. In general Mercedes 300 D is one of leaders of a second-hand business class in Lithuania.
One year ...

300TE-24valve. Better than an MPV
Advantages: Space, Pace, Class, built like an outhouse Disadvantages: Petrol Consumption, hard to find the spec you want
...service prices between that and Mercedes showed very little difference and the Mercedes E Class estate drives an awful lot better.
I ended up with a more powerful model than I intended with a 240+ bhp 300TE-24valve Sportline from 1991. This car may be 12 years old now and have 150,000 miles under its belt but when it was new in 1991 it cost over £40,000. It was built well and still has no rattles or squeeks (apart from the baby seat!), cleans up ... ...and servicing were more than Mercedes ! (You get discount from Mercedes dealers for a "mature" Mercedes over 8 years old). The Renault and Peugeot were not built as well either so in a few years and with the millage my Mercs now got I knew they would not have lasted as well or be as economical to keep on the road.
Insurance sounds scary at group 17 for the 24 valve but comes in at just under £500 for my wife and I (Over 35, garaged, alarmed, live ...

Mercedes 300E - A Good Car to Own
Advantages: Powerful, Solid & Safe, Low Mainenance and comfortable Disadvantages: Higher fuel, insurance costs
The Mercedes 300E is definately a car to buy if you are considering buying a second hand car.
This 6 engine inline E-Class has been one of the most popular model in the Mercedes range. It combines balance, smoothness, power, reliability and value. The engine is 3L.
The car comes standard with leather, wood finish and a range of luxury fittings for a car of this range like electric windows, central locking alarm, electric mirrors. The model that ... ...is not high as the Mercedes is a relatively popular model in the market. There are few part replacements required.
Fuel consumption may be higher than the other brands but this is worth the comfort , safety and speed it provides.
The car sits scomfortably and safely 5 people and has a relatively large boot space for the luggage.
Being an earlier model of the Mercedes series, the bodywork is more solid than the newer models and they don't make ...
