My name is Jamie, I am 31 years old, I have been a cancer patient since 1995 and am still battling the Big C, I seem to be spending most of my time in and out of hospitals - if I could do reviews on hospitals, doctors and treatment - no competition !

We have a A 160 Mercedes, its main use is driving me up and down the motorway to the oncology centre at Bristol and numerous other hospitals scattered about... so it was important when we bought the car that it was reliable, economical and easy to park. Since having our baby 'Merc' we havent had a days problem ( a hum - fingers crossed now !! ) it is just due for its first MOT ( Y reg ) . It handles very well and corners well, sticks to the road like glue when you put your foot down !! the fuel economy is excellent and this is important, it is very easy to park although there are several blind spots in the car when it comes to reverse parking - there are three headrests that line across the tops of the back seats which can make it difficult - obscures your vision somewhat when it comes to the reverse park. Our car is the shorter wheelbase version - we have friends who have the longer wheelbase version and have been told that there is as much foot room as there is in a C class, which is remarkable when it is considered the size of the car. Ours is particularly nippy, so it has a reasonable performance along with excellent fuel consumption.
I am exactly 6 foot in height and it is a little cramped (head room). the rear seats have the ability to fold down or they are completley removeable but be warned they are HEAVY .... and are a bit fiddly when putting them back in... but the ability to remove them opens the car up to be able to carry quite a reasonable load. The A class is fitted as standard with driver and passenger airbags and have the same on the doors - (mini air bags) which is a side impact protection system. If given the oppurtunity it would be advisable to buy the alloy wheels as we have lost the occasional wheel trim and they are £16 plus VAT.
These cars come with an alarm complte with motion sensors, and a mecedes factory fitted immobiliser as standard and this is activated by a remote controlkey fob in which the ky is also very neatly stored. The security is excellent - although the alarm has gone off for no reason in the summer - we think it is because of the heat (always on very hot days)
The dashboard is all LED display and it even alerts you as to when it needs a service.
We have had ours from new and are very happy, its a nice car and a lot of car for the money - functions wise. But not the biggest car or the roomiest if you are like me and quite tall the long wheelbase version is definately a better option.
We purchased ours from the garage Mercedes Direct, we have a good relationship with the service department, sales team were great too, but the reception girls are a bit "stuck up"
