I purchased a white C180 Elegance in Feb this year. It was an N reg 96 model. I have paid out too much for the short time I've had it though. Firstly two weeks after I had bought it I purchased a set of new alloys for it at considerable cost. I took them with the car to a local garage to fit the wheels for me. I came out £100 lighter because I had to replace the rear pads which were down the the metal!. This was the fault of the dealers who sold the car to me who said they had done a pre-delivery inspection. SO if you're thinking of buying a car from Chris Davies car sales of Chesham bear it in mind that their pre-delivery inspection is worse than useless!.Then the next thing was the remote keyfob failed. This was a major fault because Mercedes in their finite wisdom had NOT built in a manual overide for the immobiliser! I had to call the AA to hotwire the car so I could get it home, and then had to buy two new keyfobs at a price of £55 each!.The car was of the road for 6 days while I waited for the fobs to come from GERMANY! This I found to be ridiculous and the Main dealers were absolutely useless with their lack of knowledge. Lastly,(at the moment anyway!) The car started to run hot and pump water out of the radiator when it got too hot. I asked the opinion of the main dealers (I don't know why though) Who were as usual as useful as a chocolate fireguard!. Anyway I plumped for the viscous fan which I bought for £65 from German Swedish ( highly recommended ) who beat the main dealers by £30! I had this fitted at a cost of £50 and that has sorted the problem(phew!) The car drives lovely and it sails up and down motorways effortlessly BUT the around town fuel consumption of the auto leaves alot to be desired I find.
This model and the C200 is prone to head bolts snapping which is bloody expensive to sort. If I was to buy another I would go for the C220 upwards with more extras onboard.
So in summing up the cars are not bad but the dealers are!

Ah, dealerships...ont get me started, suprsied Merecedes Chris Davies car sales of Chesham -weren't good either. Problem is the ways its all sales driven, staff are just not committed or entusiastic about the cars they try to sell. This is a very useful opinion and good advice!-CH

Hi Derrrrr, sounds as though you aren't having a very good time with your merc.
For info, if you had included more detail with regards to things you DO like about the car I may have given a VH rating.
