The car never surprised me on speed off the mark but from 70 onward it did seem too fly with ease.Once I had started the engine from cold and woke the street up with the "clack-clack" it did please me ,as when warmed up and at normal Motorway speeds it went along qiutely without having to have the radio / cd up too loud. When I purchased the Merc back in late summer I did a 200 mile round trip as the spec I was looking for at the right price could not be found in my town.I stumbled upon an Avantgarde 2001 y plate model with full stamped history at 80,000 miles on the clock and with the blue paintwork it was exactly what I was looking for at £4,800. It was cheaper than most of the first newer shape C-classes by about a grand so well worth the travel out up to Liverpool from a guy with a debt problem......hope hes got things sorted !! Anyway, I had owned two A-CLASS Mercs and new what too expect from the larger C- class. The overall stance of the car always looked good with that Mercees badge popping up on the bonnet and I knew my nieghbours had a peek out of the curtains when I first parked it on the drive. This marque has always had an air of class about it although every other Taxi is fast becoming a Mercedes diesel.!! The finish of these vehicles is very good with soft plastics and Leather being used and the wind noise is very negligable at any speed. I did find the seats a little unsupportive and I wish I had gone for heated seats on the more cold winter mornings as the heater took an age to get up too a warm blow. The economy with the Diesel engine and Automatic gears seemed ok on long journeys but I saw a difference of MPG when you go over 65mph in comparison to keeping under that speed . I averaged up to 48mpg on the longer Motorway runs but as little as 31mpg around town so take no notice of claims of 55 on average.and 40 on the urban......it aint gonna happen !! The handling is very good for a heavy four door family car and the C-class does give a feeling of being safe within its cabin. Boot space is very good but a let down that my rear seats did not have fold down option ?....this should be standard. After about 2 months a few things started to give up which included one of the washer jets, a very bad leak from one of the injector seals sending oil on my drive evey time I parked up , an Air Con fault and a leak into the boot area. With all this happening in the space of a couple of months it became apparent that the BUILD QAULITY was not as good as the earlier models. I can say however I would have another Mercedes but would go for the late 2004 facelift model as by then the overall interior look had got better and the qaulity in build had returned. If you are looking for a family vehicle with a Prestige badge the you will not go far wrong with a C-class BUT make sure you stay on top of the services and overall upkeep of the car . Our 2nd MB, we bought this one last year after an extensive search for the right one. C220cdi stationwagons are difficult to find and a bit pricey but worth the effort.
Our 1999 Classic is in dark blue, which glows denim blue in the sun and is a very forgiving colour. We have an optional beige interior with beige hide upholstery and 5 speed auto gearbox, which is a perfect match for the torquey diesel engine.
Overall, we are delighted with the ... ...( this is my 22nd car!) and the great performance and economy (around 40mpg) are an unexpected bonus. Other features which we appreciate include the air-con and cruise control.
Downsides? Unfortunately yes.
1) I have not come across a decent MB dealer yet and have ended up in dispute with 2. Why MB head office doesn't crack down on them I don't understand, they must lose MB many customers. The saving grace is that there are a growing number of ...

...spare parts cost. Unfortunately spare mercedes parts are not cheap and the expertise and time required to fit them really burns a hole in your pocket! However Mercedes pride themselfs on their reliability and it would be a rare occation for a Mercedes to produce a fault within the first 8 years. Overall i do believe the C220 cdi is good value for money in both the long and short term.
In general i feel that the excellent fuel economy value and price ...

Advantages: All the comfort of a Mercedes with the performance and control of top of the range exec Disadvantages: Every features costs you money..if you have to pay BIK tax then you will be hurt by the CO2 levels
As a driver of the C220 CDI Sport Auto (08) model I have to openly admit that this vehicle surpasses any of its rivals. As an employee of a fleet management company I have the benefit of being able to test drive most prestige vehicles and where the BMW 320 and Audi A4 finish the C220 CDI Sport is just beginning!
Where to start... well from a purely astethic point of view the C-Class is a joy to behold. With a high specification sports body kit and ... ...only ideal for executive drivers but is also a stylish vehicle which appeals to almost any driver.
Whilst the appearance of the vehicle is fantastic the drive is what really had me. Fast, reliable, and comfortable are just a few words to describe the C220 CDI Sport, but in addition to this the vehicle is an animal. When compared wiht the BMW 320 equivalent the handling is superior. When you take a corner at a higher speed than you should have done ...

...disappointed.
The new model Mercedes has some subtle tweaks and improvements from the earlier model and delivers a very comfortable ride. The diesel engine is suprisingly quiet and refined and has plenty of power for both motorway and town driving.
I drive a minimum 300 miles per week, and have found the level of comfort to be greater than that of the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4's. The level of specification is also higher with more extra's as standard.
... ...the sport pack. It offers in my opinion exceptional value for money and a whole host of extra's.
For company Car drivers the C220 CDi has the benefit of being EU4 compliant and so will collect the bare minimum in co. car tax due its low emissions. You will also be laughing with the favourable 38 - 40 MPG that the car will average.
Avoid manual gearbox. The car will lose too much value at resale. ...

Advantages: Looks, Ride, Handling and Fuel Consumtion Disadvantages: None
My first Mercedes and I definently would not buy another make of car. From entering the showroom to driving away in my new car, the experience was very feel good. I purchased the car in November 2002 and since then it has been nothing but a pleasure to drive. Fuel consumption is amazing given the weight of the car and the ride and handling are excellent. The power is always there when you need it and the diesel engine is ultra quiet. There have been ...

The MercedesC220 T cdi is one of th most safest cars on the plaent just now. My dad has one and he thinks it is the best car he has ever had in his working career. The cost of one of these beastly machines is around about £27,000 to about £32,000. The car can have have either classic or avantgard finish. i would recommend the avantgard finish(well class). The MercedesC220 T cdi has 6 Cd disc changer. The car has millions of room especially in the back. In the back there is air conditioning. This car is one of the easyest cras to drive and had no dis advntages to the "mean machine". You can also install a phone into the MercedesC220 T cdi. The MercedesC220 T cdi is obe of the most easyest cars to drive. It has power steering. The intearior of the car is outstanding as i have sed you can get an avantguard finish and a clasic finish ...

Advantages: It's a Mercedes Disadvantages: It should be better
I have owned (or rather leased) my MercedesC220cdi for the past 18 month - I have travelled 36,000 miles in it and so feel that I know it inside out.
I have previously had 2 MercedesC Class saloons that I really did enjoy, I decided to plump for the Sports Coupe for a more modern look.
I must say the car hasn't really lived up to my expectations - I am glad that I only took a 2 year lease out - it may well soon be time to try out BMW! (If I can get a good deal!)
I will split the review down into categories (not in depth, I am no F1 driver nor am I a mechanic!)
Exterior
It does look good - well when it's clean anyway - sleek flowing lines from the front to rear, fog lamps, aggresive looking front grill and good alloy wheels give it a sporty appearance.
I do think it would benefit from low profile tyres to finish ...
Advantages: Stunning quality, comfortable and great fuel consumption Disadvantages: Expensive
I used to have an old Saab and although I loved the car, it was a burden when it came to the petrol pumps. I had a normally aspirated 2.0 petrol and I only ever managed to get 28mpg out of it, if I was lucky. Hence, it was time for a change. I had been looking around for ages at diesels and finally fell for a silver MercedesCDi and i'm so glad i did!
I bought my Sports Coupe 2.2 CDi in April 2007 and from that day to this, it has averaged an amazing 47mpg. That includes town, tootling down to the shops and a good motorway run every 2 weeks. The interior is very roomy for a coupe with excellent dash layout. I, alas, haven't got the sat nav/COMAND system, which I hear is fantasic. The dials however, are clear and simple and the whole feel of the interior is quality. I do have full leather which improves the experience. I must say I did ...
